I tried getting into this one ages ago, but honestly? It felt totally brainless at first, so I bailed pretty quick. Maybe I just wasn't in the right headspace back then, or who knows, life happens, right? 🤷 But look, I finally sat down and gave it a proper watch, and man, everything those guys were saying on this thread was spot on. It’s actually this hilarious, clever little trip that pokes fun at Hollywood, the whole sci-fi genre, and—let's be real—the fans themselves. I was genuinely hooked. The whole cast is absolutely perfect, and the way they handled the alien identity thing? Genius. It keeps you locked in from the opening credits to the very end.
9/10 Seriously though, has anyone ever made some kind of adult film in this exact same style? 😬
So, I finally sat down and rewatched this after what feels like a damn eternity. And yeah, it stuck with me just as much as the first time—seeing Sam Raimi's massive breakthrough ☕ Whenever I think about Evil Dead, my mind immediately jumps to that camera work, just tearing through the woods during the day (well, more like dawn, actually) instead of the usual nighttime trope 🙂 ) Man, even today, those scenes give me actual chills. The leaves, the skeletal trees, that eerie music, the cabin... it’s just pure gold 🙂 The rest of it is killer too. The tension and fighting inside that cabin are freaking terrifying, and even though I know it’s all just masks and movie magic it still manages to trigger this inexplicable sense of dread and anxiety every single time. I used to think the sequel might be better, but looking back at the whole saga now, I think this first Evil Dead is truly the best and most essential one. The sequels feel like they're just recycling the same ideas, maybe with slightly better special effects. They definitely lean way harder into exploiting Ash Williams as a character, probably because Sam Raimi realized how much potential there was in Bruce Campbell's facial expressions—the guy was basically born for this kind of horror.
Absolute must-watch for any horror junkie
10/10 A total horror rollercoaster
Oh, almost forgot, is it the greatest horror movie ever made?
Nah, not the absolute best, but it's definitely up there among the greats and the essentials.
Oliver, Oliver, you dark soul, what have you done? 🙂
I could smell the disaster coming from a mile away, the second I heard that narrator—and let me tell you, calling her an actress is a stretch, she was more like a total amateur.
I mean, sure, the Stone factor... I thought maybe it was just some weird opening gag, like he was trying to be edgy or something, but then the movie just kept dragging on and on, getting progressively more pathetic by the minute. I honestly don't get what Stone was aiming for here. Maybe he was trying to play to the younger crowd or something? Whatever his excuse, he completely blew it. Halfway through, I lost track of who was screwing over whom, and honestly, I was rooting for someone to just take out Lively and end the misery. The only thing keeping this from being a total dumpster fire were Del Toro and Salma Hayek; without them, this would’ve been a lock for a Golden Raspberry, though it's hovering pretty close to that line right now.
And that young male duo? Total waste of space. Those two guys are clearly just head-over-heels in love with themselves.
If I remember correctly, that Dwayne Johnson flick was more like a showcase for military tech and infantry gear, you know? 😬 After that hit, there was this massive wave of nothing but mindless, hyper-caffeinated action shooters. Personally, I still have a soft spot for it, though. It really deserves a proper re-release on Blu-ray. It’s basically some kind of cult classic when it comes to firearms and weaponry ☕
Drop a few of your drafts in here to get things moving, maybe something in PDF format, if they actually make it through this initial "filter" we've got going on—basically, if you can pass the test, only then are we even gonna start talking about what comes next 😬

Man, tell me about it. Honestly? He’s easily one of the most twisted, dark characters I’ve ever seen in my life. The way he looks at people, that smug attitude, those facial expressions... it’s unreal. You can practically see the pure evil oozing out of him. A total legend.
Some people have been hyping this thing up, and honestly? I think it’s actually underrated—maybe even forgotten. It rarely ever comes up as a heavy hitter when people start debating the Coen brothers' filmography.
For me, it works perfectly as this kind of tribute to those old-school gangster flicks from the Humphrey Bogart or James Cagney era. Even Tom Reagan’s role (played brilliantly by Gabriel Byrne) feels like a blueprint for the exact kind of characters that duo would go on to dominate during their prime. Then you’ve got Vern (Marcia Gay Harden), who basically embodies that tough, unapologetic, cold bitch heroin archetype you see constantly decorating those classic noir crime movies.
Thank God, there’s enough material in this movie to keep you busy failing at analyzing it forever. There are unique, avant-garde scenes and directorial choices here that are just finger-licking good. It blows Torturro, Polito, and Finney out of the water too... honestly, it beats everyone. 🙏
mjuza 👍
10/10
Oh yeah, almost forgot the most important part, I got way too damn sucked into Tom's headspace, and when that happens, you just 🙏
That main riff is honestly pretty similar to the other one, and if you ask me, it just works way better when you pair it up with some mothers and a heavy color☕

Man, I’m sitting here scrolling through these comments and I honestly can’t believe my eyes 🤦 it’s like I've stepped into some middle school cafeteria mid-argument.

Man, I might've even seen a different one, honestly. My memory's a total mess lately, can't even remember which one it was. 🤷 I honestly don't see myself sitting through those anytime soon. Not happening.
Man, you're telling me. That whole series is just pure, unadulterated Saw nightmare fuel. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... how many entries does that thing even have now?
I watched that Shutter remake too, but honestly? The original blows it out of the water. Hopkins is a legend in his own right, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about Black Swan lately. Now that I've seen this One Missed Call remake, I’m telling you—just go straight to the original Chakushin truth. It's way better.
Look, they aren't bad movies. I haven't sat down with Black Swan yet, and since Shutter is just an American remake anyway, I skipped it—plus, I still haven't gotten around to anything by Hopkins. Honestly, Carrie and One Missed Call are top-tier.
