What Mrs. Norris is saying is the absolute truth.
I used to call it self-transcendence once, but honestly, just describing it as focusing your attention on someone or something outside of yourself works fine... because obsessing over your own self doesn't exactly lead to much happiness.
That goes for pretty much everything in life, and this is probably the most harmless version of it.
So, if anyone thinks this sounds like total nonsense—feel free to just scroll past.
I know it's true.
Anyone seen Monster's Ball (2001)? in Movies ·
Duh, you know exactly why I passed out. It’s because I’m basically EXPECTED to react to a movie just like how you laid it out in your review.
Whenever a film hits me like that, I immediately turn into a rebel for a reason—it's my biggest flaw, honestly. If they mess up the opening act, I'm done. No chance. My partner keeps trying to tell me, "Come on, just give it a fair shot...!"
But seriously, why?!🙄
I have yet to experience a movie actually blowing me away after I already wrote it off as irritating in the first ten minutes.
And yeah, I totally wrote it off. For me, those opening shots set the whole vibe... they're basically the litmus test for whether the quality is even there.

Passed out after like thirty minutes of watching.

Sorry, I just had to.

😛

Maybe I'll have to retake it today...😁 😉

hehehehe

You actually pay attention to posts and get what movies are trying to say—you might actually make it in this life...😉

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Is it overkill to say the movie hit me hard? Like, way harder than the Pinocchio story, or even that search for lost (if such a thing ever existed) intelligence?
Look, I don't have kids, haven't adopted anyone, but I totally identified with that kid—that anti-macho replicant—and his awkward buddy, the sex machine himself, Jude Law. Role of the century? Or maybe like some wizard from Oz answering a coin toss...

How did you guys vibe with A.I.?

Is the topic already played out, especially with this year's Oscar contenders, given all the Kill Bill clones, samurai swords, and lords of air/land/space, or did the whole point just get lost in translation?

Nice one, Emily Torres2. Always good to see I'm not alone in this, though I pretty much know why I feel this way.
That movie left a massive dent in my heart. It’s beautiful and definitely earns its spot in my permanent collection...🙂
Jude Law was incredible. Beyond the heated scenes, that hunt for the 'mechs' really got to me, and that shot of sunken New York City... man, what a masterpiece. But seriously, it's not for everyone.
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Quick logistics question—what’s the damage if I totally forgot to take my pill and just swallowed it about 12 hours after I was supposed to?!
I know there's that whole "under 12 hours" vs "over 12 hours" thing, and I somehow managed to hit almost exactly the 12-hour mark??!!😕
Hey, John Thomas2, is pregnancy still on the table here?!

Anyone remember Times Square, Fassbinder, and that one shot he pulled off in close-up?😳

I mean, visually... it was pretty killer.

storytelj said:man... what a ride... seeing Patricia take charge like that, especially when things get all messy while she's tearing through the Sopranos 👍

Look, it’s not perfect, but it’s easily one of the best flicks out there.👍
Stigmata in Movies ·
Honestly, you watch this just for Patricia... even if the way they handled such a controversial topic was kind of a mess.
There’s definitely enough substance here to make it a solid flick, but it’s like eating a premium ice cream cone—it tastes great for a second, then it melts away and... you pretty much forget it happened.

One of the side effects of the pill can actually be uneven skin pigmentation... like, getting these brown spots. So, honestly? You might want to ditch the tanning lamps and just stop trying to "quartz" your face altogether...

A "hero"? More like a Chinese production.
Visually, it’s giving me major Tiger and Dragon vibes.
Phone Booth in Movies ·
The movie’s just punchy, smooth, and totally low-key... feels like it was born from some non-commercial spark of inspiration rather than a boardroom meeting.

Gabe, I'm with you on this—Requiem is such a masterpiece that it actually earned a spot in my DVD collection. But honestly, isn't it more about the killer camerawork, the direction, and those weird, jarring angles rather than just being "visually stunning" for the sake of it?😕

So, I think Hollywood just dropped a list of the top 50 most visually stunning movies ever made.
Obviously, my absolute favorite takes the number one spot: BLADE RUNNER!!🙂 🙂 🙂

Jesus, how did I seriously and stupidly waste my time watching that mindless garbage?😢
Honestly, I just feel bad for myself.
Before the Rain in Movies ·
Ugh, this Dust is seriously killing me.....

Man, where was I? Oh yeah... which movie was it again? The one with that insanely heavy, dark atmosphere that just feels like something terrible is about to happen...?!
That movie... honestly, what was that even supposed to be?!! 🙂 👋
Devil's Advocate in Movies ·
Man, I'll get through all those recs eventually, thanks, seriously, thanks!🙂

Regarding that warm summer rain flick... I had this old friend who used to constantly obsess over it. He claimed it was impossible to find anywhere, and if I remember right, it’s some tragic romance about two young people... you know, all that "misunderstood" stuff, drugs, and their weird little isolated world where someone probably ends up dead or whatever... he wouldn't even talk about it, just seemed totally possessed by the thing...
In my desperate rush to finally see that masterpiece, years went by, and honestly, I think I might have outgrown it by now. I wouldn't exactly "bet my life on it" anymore..
Ahhh...

🙄
Devil's Advocate in Movies ·
Anyway, totally side note, but can we actually get our hands on 'warm summer rain'?!
I mean, I'm not completely wrong here—supposedly that movie is pretty life-changing too...🙄 😉

Seriously, what kind of ancient relic did you guys pull out of the attic? What was actually playing on TV?!
