What are you doing to stay healthy? in Health ·
I honestly think people are at their healthiest when they just do whatever feels right in the moment. 🙂

If you actually bother to listen to your own body, it becomes pretty obvious that you can't stay on a strict diet forever. You also can't live a perfectly "healthy" lifestyle 24/7 without constantly sacrificing everything you enjoy, and eventually, you just snap. 😁

Looking back at all my bad habits, I guess a few decent ones managed to sneak in there too.
- I love water; I drink a ton of it, and it’s the first thing I reach for every morning.
- Every time the bus is late, I lose my mind a little and end up power-walking everywhere—to work, to campus, all over town...
- Once a month, I get this sudden urge to go for a run, and a couple of times a year, I feel like hitting some hiking trails.
- When I want something, I need it right then and there. So, if I'm hunting down a specific movie at a shop, I'll basically run a marathon across the city just to find it. RIGHT NOW.
- I still have my medals from high school sports days lying around at home, so I can definitely brag about them whenever someone comes over to visit. 😁
Chicken noodle soup recipe in Health ·
I just went back and scrolled through this entire thread plus my own old posts from a year ago.

Man, screw that soup. 😠

I swear, I’ve probably lost 220 pounds eating it and then gained all 220 right back again. 😁
That stuff is really only good if you want to eat it for maybe two days straight after Christmas or Easter.

I think there's gotta be a better way to go about this—I'm actually getting some sushi rolls for my birthday instead. 🎉 🎉

No, you clearly don't have a clue about Zen, you absolute New York jerk! 😂 😂 😂

And then she finally sees the light 😲 😲 😁

Yeah. I don't. 😁

I think 👍 is a total standout because:
1. Honestly, besides >, it’s the only movie that actually made me tear up.
2. It features these incredibly long scenes that somehow don't feel exhausting at all—seriously, props to the director for that.
3. It’s such a breath of fresh air after all these modern directors and their pretentious, over-the-top nonsense.
frozenangler9 said:Huh, now that is a pretty interesting take.
If I’m being honest about myself, I’d say things work the exact opposite way for me—but then again, I don't exactly consider myself your run-of-the-mill woman, so who knows... 🙄

For instance, I actually think I *am* a typical woman. 🙂

The reason this question popped into my head is because... well, what does "typical woman" even mean? And why is being one considered good or bad? (It seems like women constantly distance themselves from being "typical" as if it's some kind of insult)
Here is an idea for a new thread 🙂

Fine, I'll accept it 😁
monol!t said:I mean, there are definitely other things that catch my eye—like the Oedipus complex—but this specific theory is just so bizarrely weird that I can't help myself. It’s actually kind of tempting to dig a little deeper into it. 😁

Well, you finally showed up here, 👍

Don't go trying to act all smart on this forum, 😁
Walter Myers4 said:restlessmarlin6, look, that book Benjamin Price is quoting is basically just some cheap tabloid pileup of female sexual fantasies (The Secret Garden, the title pretty much gives it away) and it has absolutely nothing to do with Freud. So, you don't have to cling to the intro post like a drunk person stumbling through a fog and just spit venom at Freud. Maybe instead, think about whether you ever felt jealous of a friend's penis... I know I did, during some childhood game, and honestly, I find it interesting to reflect on and talk about... I don't see any shame or problem with it whatsoever.😉

kajjaznati.
We used to play tag and laser tag all the time, stealing gum and chocolate from the corner store.
The boys would pelt us with water balloons.
I was jealous of my friend's new barbika house, not her penis.😕

Benjamin Price8 said:I mean, I’m fine with Jung’s theories, but honestly, the guy just talks nonsense sometimes... like, before I heard the full breakdown of his subconscious theory, I thought it was pure genius... I still think it's alright, but now that I've dug into all the specifics, I'm feeling way more skeptical.

As for the Oedipus complex, I know even Freud admitted toward the end of his career that maybe it actually comes down to some kind of natural instinct... so even he didn't always pin everything on family dynamics... besides, he dealt with stereotypes too and knew how easy it was to be dead wrong.

And why would a woman want to be masculine? I mean, we aren't *that* different... what do you really know about how our brains work or how everything is wired together? How many instincts we share versus which ones are gender-specific... so maybe there's actually something to it.

You seem to have a critical eye, but you lean more toward Freud. For me, I'm definitely more of a Jung person.
And honestly, thank God you’re being skeptical. 🙂
Personally, I can't stand people who read something once and just swallow it whole without questioning it. 👎

Wait, did I get you right? Are you saying it's possible Freud might actually be onto something?
Well, it's possible. 🙂 But it's just as possible that he isn't.
You asked for our take, and if you ask me, I think that guy is just talking nonsense on THIS particular subject.

I'm inclined to believe that we are much more alike than we realize (even though, let's face it, we're also pretty different on the other hand).

Also, I saw your other thread over on the General Discussion board, and I have to say, your intense obsession with these topics is pretty entertaining.
eena_ said:Jung started out under Freud, but then he basically broke away from him—after Jung, there were plenty of other analysts who made their mark, but Freud and Jung really laid the groundwork. They spent years refining their theories, so I guess there's probably still some deep, underlying truth behind them that they didn't quite fully crack or uncover.

Broke away? 😁

They were sworn enemies 🙂 because their whole way of thinking was just completely different.

But hey, that whole mentor-student dynamic is actually a pretty beautiful example of how, when you take real knowledge and feed it into a brilliant mind, it ends up expanding horizons and giving something new back to science and humanity.
Natch said:Honestly, why is everyone getting so worked up? Wouldn't it be way smarter if we just came out and admitted we're all secretly jealous of their 🙄 junk, so they could finally admit they've been craving vaginas this whole time? 😁

Oh, really? Is that how you see it? 😁

Most of them have already gotten what they wanted a long time ago. 😁
Walter Myers4 said:Honestly, I’m not entirely sure what the connection is here, but looking back at when I was just a kid, I was constantly trying to act masculine. I used to push guys to prove themselves to me... I just couldn't bring myself to accept some stupid "female role," if you know what I mean. Like, would you even want to be a woman? It feels like you just fight against yourself until you finally accept who you are and realize you can't escape your own skin. Then eventually, you start looking for the perks of that ungrateful position and realize the answer might actually lie in sex... and that you can finally have whatever kind of penis you want.👍

Give me a break.

Define "stupid female role" for me, please. 🙏
Benjamin Price8 said:Look, we aren't actually talking about him... so just try using actual arguments... and as far as Jung goes, I find his whole telepathic nonsense regarding the collective unconscious absolutely fascinating. 🙄

Personally, I think Jung is one of the most captivating historical figures out there. His work really fleshes out and expands my own way of thinking. 🙂 It basically opens up new paths for me to grow mentally.

The whole point isn't to just swallow an entire theory whole and take it as gospel. The point is that these specific theories should spark your own independent thought process.
I mean, I'm not even sure if this collective consciousness thing actually exists, and I'm just as skeptical about the Oedipus and Electra complexes. The only difference is that, right now, Jung offers theories that feel more coherent and better argued—though who knows, that might change.

Alright, alright, I guess I'm drifting off-topic here, my bad. 🙂

Freud lived in an era where women were socially positioned well below men, so that whole premise—that WOMEN HAVE NOTHING TO ENVY MEN FOR—really just stems from that specific social context.

Okay 🙂, if we set Freud aside for a second—I don't see why a woman would biologically have any drive to be male? In fact, if we're following that logic to its conclusion, there are some theories out there suggesting men are practically redundant (which, if you ask me, is also complete and utter nonsense 😵).
Women could essentially carry on the species on their own. 🙂 We can dive into that debate if you want.

Anyway, okay, and finally, if we're veering completely away from the topic—do you have any SEXUAL problems? 😁

👋
It honestly blows my mind how Sigmund Freud managed to exert such a massive influence on modern psychology with those absolutely wild theories of his.

I mean, Jung eats him for breakfast.

The whole idea that everything boils down to some sexual underlying motive? To me—and I’m emphasizing ME here—it's just complete and utter nonsense.

200 cubic feet 🙂 🙂 👍

The first time I was tipsy, I actually heard something... and I just kept listening and listening. At first, I honestly thought they were singing in French, but then it started sounding more like American 😂
ambergardener said:The Ramones are fast, but Led Zeppelin? They aren't exactly breaking any speed records. 🙂 Just name me one fast band, and I'll give you one twice as fast as the Ramones.

Look, I never actually said they were fast, I just meant they "get it up" pretty quickly. 🙂
Maybe try reading a little more carefully next time. 😉
One and only... Led Zeppelin 👍 😍

All those other bands you listed next to them? They’ll look like babies in comparison.
ambergardener said:Led Zeppelin, if you want to sink into a deep depression.

Do you even actually LISTEN to that music or what?? 😕

Led Zeppelin is like a quick shot of pure inspiration and motivation.
I mean, they might not be exactly what you put on for a jog or a kickboxing session, but they’re motivating regardless. 🙂
God, I totally messed up, I didn't realize 😢 😢
Look, I'm sorry—I know women can get a little carried away sometimes, and I guess I was definitely jumping to conclusions way too fast.

But seriously, listen, I honestly believe that PCOS is rooted in psychological issues. Have you even tried looking at it from that angle yet?
Laura Jackson said:I'm turning 25 soon, and looking back at when I first started treatment, it feels like I haven't moved an inch toward getting better—if anything, things have just gone downhill.
Hormonal imbalances are a massive deal. Sure, you can live with them, but it’s definitely not as easy as people make it out to be.
For instance, about three years ago, I was put on a new prescription—way stronger pills, probably the highest hormone concentration they offer—but nothing actually helps.
A hormonal imbalance hits your mental state hard; you get irritable, you're constantly tearing up, you can't focus, you deal with night sweats, hair loss, excess body hair or hirsutism... and don't even get me started on fertility issues.
Personally, I've lost so much hair it's honestly unbelievable, and the worst part is, I'm still losing it. A lot of women stay completely fine, so we shouldn't delude ourselves into thinking this is just some "phase." No phase lasts for several years.
If I don't take my pills, I don't even get my period, so I have to keep taking them, even though I'm not exactly thrilled about it.
I mean, living with a hormonal disorder is incredibly difficult because, frankly, I'm just not functioning normally.

Wait, you're dealing with hair loss (like, bald spots style) AND hirsutism even while on medication??? 😲
I don't even get my period if I'm off the pills either.
But since I started my treatment, I haven't had any unwanted hair growth, and my hair is thick as a mane (it never used to fall out before).

I don't know, I honestly didn't realize anyone struggled this much with it.
Have you tried tackling the mental side of things? Maybe alternative medicine?
It might help if the pills aren't doing the trick.
