The War happened and it's over. We can't just use that as an excuse forever...
When is everything actually going to get back to normal?
gentlepuma20 said:honestly, I can't deal with people who are just totally uptight...

Taylor Swift isn't really a legend—she’d be an absolute icon if she actually took some risks...

Nah, she's definitely a star 🙂
but she's also kind of tacky—like, with the fake lips and the nose job.

Just a grown woman singing ridiculous songs about shoes, or grass, or sheep eating it and thinking it's all just some cute little joke ... please, too easy. 😬

🙂 😁 😁
stormywolf39 said:Honestly, when you listen to the American pop scene, it’s all the same... garbage is garbage, no matter where it comes from.

Yeah, exactly what I'm saying. 🙂

Unless someone actually thinks Taylor Swift (and whoever else...) are total icons. 🤔

I honestly admire how you stay so chill about it—I'm way more sensitive than that, and these aesthetic attacks really get under my skin...

honestly—everyone is making such a huge deal out of it now because the media loves a hot topic, so it’ll definitely be the "thing" for one summer
i think—and i really mean *think* here, since i don't actually know anything about that "subculture"—but from what i see, i know so many people... and literally NOBODY who listens to country music wouldn't be at those kinds of places or listening to it too
it's the same pattern—we saw reports all about the whole "after-work party" craze when that hit here, then it was all about pubs being the big thing, then cocktail bars, then lounge bars
now, unfortunately, it's the country music vibe
anyway, it sucks living in a society where trends shift faster than the seasons, but maybe it's fine this time... soon the trend will move on to something else and it'll be over

like i said—it'll just be a summer thing. i'm not sweating it.

Hey Lali, thanks for the comment. 👍
I want to be an optimist about this like you, but I'm not sure I can pull it off...
It's so easy for the media to just latch onto a story and push it until everyone's obsessed.
That's what crossed my mind.

I was back in the States a couple of years ago, for the first time in forever. I visited family in the Midwest and Washington, D.C., and noticed some things that weren't there before—or stuff I just hadn't picked up on. Washington, D.C. felt a bit depressing, though it was winter—so that's probably why. Who actually wants to go to D.C. in the dead of winter? 😬

But the Midwest (specifically Des Moines, Small town, USA, and Indianapolis) was actually great. 😲
I don't remember much about the Midwest from back in the day, but what I experienced there... 👎 (kind of how we view Romania).
I wonder if it's still lingering from the War or something?
From what I saw and heard, it's pretty rare to find someone there who isn't listening to country music.

Just grab some antihistamines... if that doesn't do the trick, you should probably see an immunologist to get some allergy testing done.

and even The Washington Post picked up 🙄

Easter with all that cheesy pop music

Seriously, how much longer...

Am I overweight? in Health ·
It really just depends on your own makeup...
I’d honestly suggest checking in with your primary care doctor—or maybe someone who can point you in the right direction—to get an actual body fat percentage reading. You really want a pro looking at your flexibility and other vitals before anyone even suggests a weight loss plan...
Those basic BMI charts—just height versus weight—don't actually tell you anything useful.

😲
Then don't...

I think there’s a real consensus among the pros here. Even WebMD and basically all the stuff I’ve read points to the same thing...

Symptoms of lactose intolerance can be mild or severe, depending on how much lactase your body makes. Symptoms usually begin 30 minutes to 2 hours after eating or drinking milk or milk products

Maybe you misheard the doctor? Or maybe you have other allergies that just flare up more when you deal with dairy proteins...

So, some recent studies actually show you can train your body to handle small amounts of Cheese if we're talking about classic intolerance. Just start super slow alongside other foods. You should be fine in a few weeks—I mean, just a cube or two every couple of days...
If you’ve got the patience and give it enough time by pairing the Cheese with other stuff, you might even be able to handle pizza soon. 🙂

Anyway, regarding LI symptoms: Symptoms usually begin 30 minutes to 2 hours after eating or drinking milk or milk products, so if this pops up two days later, it's probably not LI—it's either something else entirely or just some weird combo that doesn't sit right with you.

Check out this solid article.
Let me know if you need a hand translating anything from English... 🙂

Supposedly, a milk protein allergy shows up as stomach cramps along with bloody stools and intense vomiting—they also mention Enteropathy and Heiner's syndrome. Oh, and people with that allergy can't handle soy products either since they're supposedly allergic to those too.

Lactose intolerance
is more like bloating, gas, and stuff like that...

If you want to be 100% sure, I can run a breath hydrogen test for you just to confirm or rule out the intolerance once and for all...

I’ve read most of this, but not all. I'm definitely on the same page as Naomi and Stef. Also, I'm not sure if anyone else has picked up on this, but lactose intolerance is actually not the same thing as a dairy allergy.

So, back when I was talking to my doctor maybe 8 months ago, she mentioned that recent studies suggest you can basically "train" your body to handle certain amounts of dairy if what you're dealing with is lactose intolerance .
My advice? Start small—maybe some yogurt, then move on to cheese, a little ice cream, stuff like that. You’ll probably feel pretty stuffed after just a few cubes of cheese or more than one scoop of ice cream, but just give it time and keep trying.

Light-skinned Europeans tend to have way fewer issues with lactose intolerance compared to people from the Mediterranean or Asia—it's probably an evolutionary thing involving Vitamin D, sun exposure, blah blah blah. Apparently, Greeks, Turks, Moroccans... they eat tons of yogurt, and Italians swear by their cheeses... you just have to put in a little effort.

By the way, tofu is also a killer source of protein and calcium.
Anyway, just see how it goes for you... 😬
Tip or Bribe? in Health ·
Honestly... a simple card and some flowers—or maybe a potted plant—is more than enough.
At the end of the day, just a sincere "thank you" goes a long way. 🙂

If you really want to go the extra mile personally—assuming you’re actually good at baking—maybe bring in some treats for his whole office (with a thank you note attached), or just send over a massive fruit basket with a nice card.

I don't think it's right to give gift cards or anything cash-related... that feels like crossing a line you shouldn't touch. Plus, who knows how the doctor might take it? You aren't trying to embarrass anyone, you just want to show appreciation.
That's the whole point, right?

dustycanyon6 said:Before you drop any cash on it, seriously check if the size works for you. To me, it actually looks a bit long—though the geometry is solid for freeride... Anyway, check out this just to get a rough idea of how the sizing hits. Don't buy a bike unless you're 100% sure about the fit. BTW, it’s way better to go slightly smaller than slightly too big, especially for freeride... if you grab one that's oversized, your groin, back, and wrists are gonna pay for it.

If those brakes end up being total crap, you can always swap in some Hayes hydraulic ones for $500 + installation.

Totally agree.

dustycanyon6 said:You're forgetting that prices over in the States are way lower than what we deal with here... even in nearby places like Canada, a Marta costs $627 (310 dollars) for the front, and $793 (393 dollars)

😲 Are you kidding me?
You wanna talk business now? 😬

If you're working with a tight budget, these are honestly pretty solid rides for the price. My picks would be:
Check out the Giant XTC 2—I think Magma handles the Giant imports for the US.
or
The Scott Scale 70—it's a step up from the Tmobila Gianta—and if the internet isn't lying, it's available over at turbo-sport.com. Or maybe the Scott Reflex 20... though the fork is a bit better, but the rear derailleur and hubs aren't as great.

All in all, for what you're spending, I'd probably go with the Scott Scale 70. Or, if you can squeeze a little more cash out of your family or friends ($667), just grab the Scale 50L.
😁😁

What's your main priority here? Hardtail or full suspension... If you can handle a hardtail, you're gonna get way more bang for your buck with a better bike.
You're spot on, Max—brakes are everything.
Basic ones run you about $150, but honestly, just toss in another 50 and grab some decent ones...
Magura mart sl - they're around $200, super light, but pricey.
Magura Louise - if you gotta compromise (a bit tougher to find, maybe $200ish)... 😉

5,000 Kuna? What's that in USD? Like $800?
I'll try to spec something out for you in an hour or two... assuming I can dodge this meeting starting in 15 mins. 😁😁

It’s actually gonna be pretty sweet! 😘
I mean, we’re all gonna end up upgrading stuff eventually anyway...
The fork is always the easiest thing to swap out later on.
It's a really solid ride to start with. 👍
