Dry nose relief? in Health ·
Honestly, Sea Spray by Galen is my absolute lifeline whenever this kind of stuff hits. Since it isn't an antibiotic, you can use it as often as you need throughout the day without any issues. It’s specifically designed to hydrate your nasal passages when they're irritated from allergies, colds, or whatever else is going around, and let me tell you—it actually works perfectly.👍
My screen is flickering in Health ·
Rachel Sanders said:It isn't even my eyelid twitching; it's that specific spot right under my eye. It’s obviously just because I'm completely burnt out.😢

First it's a twitch under the eye, next thing you know, your whole eyelid is jumping.😉 Get off the computer for a bit, take some actual breaks, and go grab some B vitamins.👍
My screen is flickering in Health ·
I deal with this more often than I’d like to admit. One stretch actually dragged on for three months, and I honestly thought I was going to lose my mind😁 Anyway, for me, it’s just pure nervous exhaustion from staring at screens and reading all day. It isn't anything life-threatening, but it is incredibly irritating😁
When you get burned... in Health ·
For me, fish oil is a total game changer every single time.
Blood work results - iron levels in Health ·
Any doctor worth their salt will tell you straight up: when your iron levels hit a critical low, you can't just eat your way out of it. You could go on a massive binge of spinach and liver every single day and it wouldn't make a dent. At that stage, supplements are the only thing that actually works. There was a point where my levels dropped to 4.2, and since the baseline should be at least 10, I was in trouble. I was prescribed iron tablets that I had to take alongside Vitamin C, and honestly, I got lucky because they didn't wreck my stomach. Once my levels went sideways, I ended up having to stay on them for an entire year just to manage during my monthly cycles.

I was also warned that for some women, birth control pills can trigger a rapid crash in iron levels, which is exactly what happened to me back then.

Don't go out there buying random supplements on your own whim; talk to a medical professional first.😉
Weed smoking habits in Health ·
Look, kid, I get it—marijuana is all well and good, but you’ve taken things a little too far on that front. Here’s some unsolicited advice: I’m pretty sure you aren't going to jump straight to harder stuff, but weed isn't exactly harmless either. It dulls your edge over time, messes with your focus, and can even trigger certain mental health issues down the road if you aren't careful. Don't overdo it.🙂

Rosehip tea....
My liver has been "naturally" enlarged since I was sixteen years old. After going through every single diagnostic test under the sun, doctors couldn't find a damn thing wrong; it’s just how I’m built. The point is, an enlarged liver doesn't always have to be some massive red flag for a disease.😉
White bumps on my skin—anyone else? in Health ·
It could be a fungal infection, which is honestly pretty common during the summer months. Or, it might just be an allergy. Either way, you really need to go see a dermatologist as soon as possible.😉
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
I highly recommend Dr. Nikolic. His office is located in the Transadra building, right by the side entrance near Pike Place Market. Since it's right in the heart of downtown, it’s always convenient regardless of where you're coming from.
Dr. Nikolic is an incredible diagnostician—honestly, there have been countless times where I didn't even need to show up in person because we sorted everything out over the phone. He's fast, there's never a massive crowd, and people absolutely love him because he actually has a sense of humor and doesn't take himself too seriously. He really is an exceptional doctor, and his nursing staff is top-notch too. My only gripe is that his sister is the only one who can draw my blood without leaving my entire forearm swollen and bruised.🙄Another plus is their schedule; blood work is done between 8:00 and 9:30 AM. A lot of other clinics make you go in at 6:00 or 7:00 AM, which is way too early for me.

So yeah, I'm recommending him from the bottom of my heart.🙂

Private. It’s roughly $200$100 for a standard check-up, if I recall correctly.

Go see Dr. Perović. His office is in Jersey City, right above the high school. You can find his number in the local directory.
Lower back pain / pinched nerve? in Health ·
Larry Grant10 said:The only thing that actually works for me in those moments is taking Voltaren Rapid, Vitamin B, and 2 mg of Apaurin all at once. It’s like magic.

If I was popping that combo every single time my back seized up, I'd have a ruined liver by now.😬
I try to stay away from pills whenever possible—just sticking to DeepHeat when I can... though I end up carrying it with me all the way to the office and through the workday, because what else am I supposed to do? I just try to power through it for a day or two.
Lower back pain / pinched nerve? in Health ·
It hits me at least twice a month😢 There really isn't much you can do about it. For me, the first day is always the absolute worst, the second day is just okay, and then by the third day, things finally start to let up. Usually, the whole thing lasts no more than three or four days. Honestly, even one wrong move or messing up my form during a workout—like failing to keep my posture straight on the stairmaster or doing crunches incorrectly—is enough to trigger it. Typically, some light stretching and a bit of Deep Heat are all that helps ease the tension.
OCD: General Discussion Thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
I have a question🙂

From what I can tell, I might actually deal with OCD myself because every single morning I find myself double-checking if I turned off the iron, the space heater, and the gas stove😁 But I’ve found a dead-simple fix that works every time—whenever I shut an appliance off, I literally say out loud to myself, "Okay, it's off!" Once I do that, I don't give it a second thought for the rest of the day and I'm totally fine.

Anyway, I have a question about this disorder regarding someone very, very close to me. I'm honestly not sure if her behavior qualifies as a clinical disorder or if it fits within this category, so I'd appreciate some input.

Basically, my friend has this overwhelming, almost manic need to "file away" and organize every single aspect of her life. There isn't a single thing that happens to her during the day that she doesn't immediately sit down and document on paper, followed by endless, exhaustive analysis. She basically "materializes" every event or emotion onto a page. She has this intense compulsion to run her entire existence through a mountain of planners; everything from "buy toilet paper" to massive one-year and five-year strategic plans is logged in there. Everything. While being organized is fine to an extent, seeing her write down "sex" in a planner is where I start to get worried. For God's sake, you can't schedule that.😁 Setting the planners aside, what really concerns me are these long monologues she goes on, accompanied by frantic scribbling, whenever she talks about any part of her day. I often notice her forcing herself into various activities just to fill up her day, week, or weekend, because I get the feeling she'd lose her mind if she woke up on a Saturday morning without a pre-set itinerary. She's incredibly active, stays fit, and is successful at work, but I'm already exhausted just listening to her aggressively analyze every tiny detail of her actions, documenting them, and then planning the next day.

To my untrained eye, it looks like it could be this disorder. Just like someone might wash their hands ten times in a row, she feels the need to over-analyze the exact same thing a million times a day and then plan out the next step, right down to what she’s having for lunch. I should mention she struggled with anorexia a while back, which tells me she's sensitive and perhaps a bit unstable... honestly, I feel responsible and I'm wondering if and how I can help her. Does she even need help?!
Spotting between periods: what's normal? in Health ·
This actually happened to me while I was using Cilest. I reached out to my OB-GYN, and they basically told me to just swing by the office to pick up a prescription for a different brand since my current pills had become "too weak" to do the job. So, I made the switch to the new ones, and honestly, everything has been fine so far...
Elevated liver enzymes in Health ·
A few years back, my ALT levels were running a bit high. Since I was on birth control at the time, I made sure to get my bloodwork checked at least twice a year, and nothing ever came up. I remember being absolutely terrified, even though my doctor kept telling me to relax and instructed me to come back for a follow-up test in two or three weeks. When the second test finally came in, everything was perfectly normal. Looking back, my doctor explained that it was entirely possible I had just been physically exhausted for several days, or that my immune system was completely shot, or maybe I hadn't slept well the night before the draw, or even just overdid it on the coffee. The point is, there’s a real chance that how your body is feeling in the moment—like if you're under massive stress—or what you've recently consumed can throw off your bloodwork. That’s why, in cases like this, doctors always insist on repeating the test after a short interval to get an accurate baseline.
I felt a lump—any advice? in Health ·
The Bartholin's gland swelling is way more than just a little "lump"—it’s massive, and the pain is so intense I can barely sit down, let alone go about my day normally.
Tai Chi tips and tricks? in Health ·
Seriously, Melissa Cruz2, you’re just making things way more complicated than they need to be.😁😁

You clearly don't get it. The second you step foot into a Tai Chi studio, you suddenly become all "tolerant" and soft.☕ And let me tell you, once you actually put on the gear, it's like you develop superpowers.😁

It’s pretty obvious we’ve all been hit by this wave of "cosmic tolerance" nonsense. 🙏 🙏

That whole chia seed craze from two years ago was just as much of a waste of time. 👍

Do you honestly believe that practicing Tai Chi or anything like it actually makes you some kind of enlightened, cosmic saint?😂

Look, real-world problems require real-world solutions.😉 Wearing a kimono and meditating isn't going to fix your life—you should probably realize that by now. At the very least, it might make you somewhat immune to everyone else's stupidity.👋

By the way, what do you actually bring to this conversation? Is your entire experience with Tai Chi just wearing a kimono on your days off, or is there more to it?😕
