And heaven forbid you face a prolonged illness. 😲

You have your own accountant (whom you pay out of pocket), and there isn't some massive corporate structure standing behind you to handle everything else while you focus on your actual job.

Finding someone willing to step in and cover you for just a few days? That's a pipe dream.
Plus, you can't just lock up the office and put a "CLOSED" sign on the door. 😁

Honestly, I think being a misdemeanor judge is a much more comfortable gig right now than being a primary care physician. 😉

There are excellent family doctors out there—just as there are terrible ones in any other field, unfortunately.
It’s the same in your line of work, whatever that may be. 😉

My mother is an MD; she has her specialty, but circumstances led her to practice as a GP.

She works in a small town without a full medical team behind her.
She manages 1,300 patients, which is nearly more than the actual population of the town itself. 😂
She’s essentially on call around the clock.
In a small town like that, everyone knows everyone. 😁

$3333 She brings in about $5,000 a month.
The office space is leased from the local Community Health Center, but the overhead is endless.
Heating, electricity, and all the basics...
For instance, she ended up installing her own air conditioning unit.
When something breaks, you either pray for a miracle or fix it yourself.
And there are plenty of people like her—dedicated doctors who aren't exactly getting rich doing this.
Again, I’m saying there are bad ones too, but it’s not right to drag the whole profession through the mud.

I suppose your brilliant advice would be for a woman in her 50s, with a settled and stable life, to just pack up and move somewhere else just to chase a bigger paycheck.

Believe me, if there were no professional clubs and only national teams, there would be enough transfers to make historical dictators turn in their graves. Just imagine—you could have someone playing for the US national team who looks nothing like the traditional archetype.

It’s simple: people are people, and they have to eat. A little bit of public admiration or some glowing praise from journalists isn't going to put food on the table.

That’s just how life works; you'll figure it out once you actually enter the workforce and try to land a job at a firm, realizing that being a proud American and wanting the best for the country won't necessarily get you a promotion.
