I mean, let's be real, I bet the crowd reported it just because those ads were getting way too annoying

The Thing, without a shadow of a doubt
Masters of Horror in Movies ·
Look, there are good picks and bad picks, but if you want my personal favorites, I’d say go with:

- Incident on an Interstate - it’s a bit of a more unconventional take on the slasher genre

- Jennifer - think Alfred Hitchcock vibes, but definitely not for anyone with a weak stomach

- Deer Woman - such a killer blend of horror and comedy

- John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns - honestly, it feels pretty similar to In the Mouth of Madness

As for everything else, it really just depends on what kind of mood you're in—zombies, necrophilia, torture, witches, and all that good stuff...

I’ve been chewing on a couple of things lately; I mean, how can people seriously claim that this whole operation was executed so perfectly that it would never have leaked online? It just doesn't add up, does it? And then, on the flip side, you have to wonder—is some random guy in the Midwest really going to pilot a Boeing with enough surgical precision to hit a specific building dead-on?
What kind of American are you? in Close to Politics ·
So I got stuck dealing with someone from the Midwest...

Well, I guess that’s just how the rest of America sees us, isn't it?
Bruce Lee in Movies ·
Yeah, and honestly, "Enter the Dragon" is still miles ahead of anything else out there. I mean, is there even anything better than that old Chuck Norris flick, you know, the one where he’s fighting his way through the Dragon's Fist or whatever it was called?
The Hills Have Eyes in Movies ·
the original was way better
The ultimate tearjerker? in Movies ·
I was actually just about to suggest "A Perfect World" myself, though if we aren't talking about that or "Passion," most of those films centered on Jesus' death tend to follow a pretty predictable path anyway, don't they?

Constantine said:You really ought to pick up that one Dylan Dog issue, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and suddenly everything will just click into place, I promise. 😈

Or you could just dive into King’s story "Sneakers" instead.
What's your go-to movie genre? in Movies ·
Now, I’ve got people coming up to me, asking—with total sincerity, mind you—why on earth this wasn't set up as a poll?

I was under the impression we were actually discussing your books...

Way to go, admins

Could we maybe move this TV series over to the movies subforum? 👍

Seriously, great job guys

Joshua Johnson67 said:well, I’ve spotted them in libraries (like the one over in Chicago) and even in some bookstores (I saw some at Barnes & Noble)

🤔

hmm, but under what name exactly? I haven't really spent much time digging through his bibliography

crimsonmoose3 said:But honestly, that sugary-sweet ending in the book After Midnight really rubbed me the wrong way. There isn't that much saccharine in even the cheesiest Hollywood romance movie.
If you’re actually following my stories, why don't you just tell me straight up whether my characters are going to kick the bucket or not, huh?

Well, I'm not actually keeping up with them, so where am I even supposed to find them? I'd love to give them a read if I could actually track them down.
Stephen King's IT in Movies ·
crimsonmoose3 said:No way, his books are honestly weaker and just plain more boring than King's. You could argue that After Midnight and the guardians are exceptions, but everything else he's written is pretty much garbage.

Sure, but he’s definitely a bit softer on his characters, isn't he? You actually know who's going to make it out alive and who isn't.

Tyler Sanchez said:Why does it feel like most of them are just sadistic toward their own characters?

Honestly, it’s because life itself is a total sadist to everyone, isn't it? I think I mentioned this before, but if you find King's stories too much to handle, maybe stick to Koontz; he isn't quite as much of a masochist when it comes to his cast.

crimsonmoose3 said:He "read" it just like he did the Greek witch one, but apparently that doesn't stop him from calling it garbage just like every other movie he hasn't even bothered to watch.
For me, the only thing that actually rubbed me the wrong way in the book was that twisted scene with the kids in the sewer—I mean, was that really necessary? 🙂

Well, look, King did exactly what he set out to do: he shocked people.

But if you think about it, that whole act is supposed to represent the transition from an innocent childhood into the harsh realities of the adult world, effectively marking the end of their friendship, at least as they knew it back then.

Wow, truly some top-tier constructive criticism right there, really helping us all out

I assume you actually bothered to read the book too, right?

Jeremy Bennett said:I don't know how many of you people can't tell the difference between a limited series and an actual movie, honestly. We all sat there watching the mini-series back when we were just kids, right? But from what I can gather, that movie is basically just some poorly put-together final episode they slapped together later. I mean, sure, the series was absolutely incredible when I was little, but my gut tells me I’ll only have a good time today if I track down the original series rather than the movie version. The film Suckz!👎

There isn't really a "movie" or a "series" to argue about here, because let's be real, it's a mini-series. I can't tell you exactly how many parts it's broken into, but every single version is identical—whether you're watching it on NBC, grabbing the DVD, or even digging up an old VHS tape somewhere.
Dreamcatcher in Movies ·
crimsonmoose3 said:Let's see here:
1. Evil Dead 2
2. Kill Bill - honestly, just certain scenes where they nailed the mix of action and music; otherwise, the whole movie is garbage
3. Hard Boiled
4. Braindead
5. Mummy
6. Voltron or Saber Rider
7. Fist of Fury (Bruce Lee, the one and only)
8. Blade 2
9. Doberman
10. Hellboy

Don't sweat it, we'll eventually stumble upon a movie we actually enjoy. 👍

You could have asked me, you know? Dreamcatcher is actually decent enough until the very end, and then everything just goes straight to hell.
Honestly, you're better off just reading the book.

crimsonmoose3...
Voltron?, Blade 2??, HELLBOY????
Oh, please, give me a break.

1. Shawshank
2. Kill Bill
3. The Shining (Stanley Kubrick)
4. Evil Dead 1,2,3
5. Alien 1,2,3,4 vs Predator
6. Pulp Fiction
7. Falling Down
8. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
9. Apocalypse Now
10. The Thing

Not that you have to watch them in that specific order, obviously.
