Here’s the situation...
A close friend of mine—we've known each other since we were twenty—was in a horrific car accident about a year ago on the way back from Manhattan. This guy she considered a "friend" was driving her home after a night out, with four other people in the car besides them. He refused to take a turn when she asked him to, slammed straight into some guardrails, and she was thrown from the vehicle. She ended up with life-altering injuries to her heart, lungs, and brain. Paramedics rushed her to the Mayo Clinic, where they performed surgeries on those vital organs, but somehow the rest of her body—her arms and legs—was basically overlooked. Now she’s struggling immensely because she’s paralyzed. She was in a coma for two months until autumn, then moved to Pennsylvania for rehab. She’s made some progress there; she can talk again and has very limited movement in her right arm and leg. But now, she’s been waiting months for hip surgery just so she can attempt to walk, and she's buried at the bottom of the waiting list. To make matters worse, the guy who caused the crash had a blood alcohol content of 0.25, and he didn't face any consequences...

So, I'm wondering what I can actually do to speed up this surgery and get her into rehab sooner? Her family is strapped for cash, and getting this operation would be the key to her being able to walk and starting her recovery.
p.s. I have no idea how much a surgery like this costs...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 😁
.. alright.. catch you later 🙂.. I have a soft spot for petitions 😉
It's All for Nothing in Movies ·
.. I just caught an ad for that movie in the subway, though I rarely pay much attention to the fine print on those things. I couldn't quite tell if it’s dropping on Netflix or hitting theaters first...
all I managed to snag was the part about it picking up five awards.

I’ve actually seen that before, though I didn't catch it while scrolling on my phone.

Off-topic. Angie and I are grabbing some food. 🙂I haven't watched much of it...

.. I’ve been dreaming of watching Thelma & Louise, and I finally made it happen (😘 for the US)
.. Now, I'm craving some high-quality drama... preferably something European..

Thanks for the advice... honestly, last night was just one of those moments where I let my guard down a little too much. 😬
I'm thinking about heading over to FC Barcelona this summer, maybe pick up a language or something and find work in tourism. A guide, traveling around—I'm mostly just motivated by the paycheck at this point. Just want to go out there and enjoy life. 🙂

So, here’s my story...
I enrolled in law school last year. To be honest, I was just chasing the "one day" paycheck. I didn't really stop to think about the sheer amount of studying and grinding required just to reach a salary that, frankly, isn't even that life-changing.
After a year, my transcript was basically a blank slate (except for English, which actually stuck), but I wasn't ready to throw in the towel just yet. Right after summer break, I headed straight back to campus to give it everything I had.
By September, I managed to pass the written portions of two exams, but the oral exams absolutely crushed me. That was the turning point; I lost all motivation for this degree. I couldn't face flipping through hundreds of pages of the same textbooks or staring at those same professors again. Every time I tried to start studying, I'd just picture those monsters and quit.
Two weeks ago, I decided to drop out of law school. I’m not someone who quits things easily, but I’ve realized this path isn't worth my mental health.
For the past month, I’ve been totally isolating myself. I haven't been eating much—which is weird because I usually eat five to seven meals a day, though thank God I'm not losing weight—and I haven't been able to sleep.
Deep down, I’ve always wanted to do something meaningful, like volunteering or working in journalism.😬
Of course, when I mentioned journalism to my parents, they gave me that classic response: "What could you ever make doing that?" So, I went to law school.
Now, the whole house is breathing down my neck, telling me I "wasted two years" for nothing. They’re openly doubting if I’ll ever go back to school at all.
I told them—and I told myself—that I’m going to take the entrance exams for the Philosophy Department this summer. I'll get my hands on some study guides, practice, and hit the books. I want to major in something like linguistics or maybe psychology or sociology. I want to actually enjoy what I'm studying, rather than suffering through law.
They say they support me, but I can see the skepticism and disappointment in their eyes every single day.
I've decided to sign up with a volunteer organization because they travel a lot and help people, which happens to be my two favorite things in the world.🙂
I've realized that everything I truly want to do doesn't come with a massive paycheck. I'm fine with that since I'm not materialistic, but eventually, you have to pay the bills.
So, I am sooo confused and have no idea what to do next.
I'm worried that even if I get into the Philosophy Department, I might struggle to finish on time. Who can guarantee a job, a decent salary, or actual happiness?
I don't know... every day I keep thinking about how I have until July before things change. I'm terrified that if I land a job, the thought of going back to school will slip away, and heaven forbid, I'll give up on higher education entirely.
To make matters worse, my older sister is a total star at her university. Her grades are perfect; she's just killing it.👍
It’s hard to stomach the idea that I might end up being just another "high school graduate with big dreams."
Maybe this is just a phase—maybe it's the stress of the difficult classes or just the fallout from making such a sudden decision—but I feel ridiculous. Like a parasite.
I'm not looking for advice or comments, even though some helpful input might be nice.😉 I just needed to get this off my chest.🙂

quietdriver3 said:That scene with the Deer in Circle 2 was just hilarious. We were watching it at a buddy's place during a screening and honestly, we couldn't stop laughing for the rest of the movie. Some animals just aren't built for horror, you know? Deer, owls, penguins... especially penguins. It’s basically a comedy of errors from the animal kingdom.

Seriously... putting a deer in a horror flick... 🤣it's overkill.. and they actually looked like that.. forget CGI.. 🤣🤣

OT: learned my lesson from Trainspotting - never use drugs, never use drugs, never use drugs..

See, I actually went to see it just because of that teaser, and honestly? It was a total letdown. That one bit was the only funny thing about the whole movie. 🙂
Seriously though, there’s absolutely no reason to waste your money at the theater just for that animation...

I thought both > were great. Even just looking at this trailer (link), it’s safe to say the third one is going to be awesome!

The critic is clueless and totally off base. Honestly, even Ice Age is a masterpiece compared to this. Little Red Riding Hood is an absolute disaster and a complete waste of time. Don't bother heading to the theater and throwing away $10 on this nonsense. Just wait until it hits streaming or Blu-ray; it’s much cheaper, and you can always just turn it off after five minutes of pure boredom..
