Sure, they really ought to be keeping those in an archive—or at least tucked away in the system somewhere.

Jonathan Perez88 said:Hey everyone—does anyone know where I can pick up something like a compression undershirt or a bodysuit in the States? Not looking for a full-blown corset or anything—just something to smooth things out a bit 🤔. I did some searching and saw they have some at Target right now, but I have a feeling they’ll fly off the shelves, and honestly, I’d rather try it on first. I thought about checking Macy's, but besides that, I'm drawing a blank. I need this for next week, obviously 🤦. And I really don't want to drop more than $67 🙂 on it.

When Zalacenko arrived in Sweden, he went to the Swedish intelligence service, which was understaffed due to the elections. A small, secret organization formed to protect him in exchange for data, since he was a defector from Russian intelligence. They've been cleaning up after him for 30 years. That's why they couldn't openly go after Lisbeth; they just tossed her into a psychiatric facility to shut her up. The guy who kills himself is part of that secret cell. He’s pretty sick—advanced liver cancer, if I recall—and he takes his own life to save the group from Zal, who is threatening to expose the fact that they've been leaking confidential info.

Noomi actually got nominations from Globus and SAG-AFTRA last year, so her performance definitely didn't go unnoticed. 😉
Regarding the trilogy, the thing is that Larsson was an activist for women's rights—physical, psychological, sexual abuse—and he likely grew disillusioned with how the legal system handled those cases. To vent that frustration, he wrote novels celebrating a female warrior capable of fighting back alone. He wanted to highlight the issue of abused women. If he went a bit overboard at times, it doesn't bother me. 🤷
SPOILER:
If I could just add one thing—the newly elected government claims they had absolutely no idea this little shadow group even existed. Apparently, by deal with the previous administration, these members were tucked away on the payrolls of various embassies and departments—basically hiding in plain sight. They spent 30 years covering for > just to protect their own status and paychecks. So, it was totally in their interest to get rid of >, and eventually > too, once he threatened to blow everything wide open. In that sense, > isn't really the main villain—it's the organization itself.

Well, hats off to Edi Dadić!
Huge props to him for all those medals—I really hope he keeps them coming and gets some much better training conditions soon; if nothing else, he at least needs more snow, a public snowplow, and a solid sponsor 🙂

Question about passports
in Miscellaneous ·
Joshua White15 said:Hey everyone,
Does anyone know how long the wait times are or what the process looks like for getting a passport? I haven't needed one until now—but I have a trip to Germany coming up soon, so I'd better get sorted.
Thanks in advance!
Everything you need should be right here: passport issuance
If you're in a big city like New York, you can actually get it expedited—though you'll definitely be paying $30 a bit extra for the rush.

Joshua Johnson said:I just got back from the mountains today—and you were spot on about the snowcat! The trail wasn't exactly world-class, but since I'm still a total beginner, it did the trick for me...
There's a competition happening next weekend, so the slopes should be in great shape by then...
From what I heard, a local developer actually planned to build a massive ski resort there—they even set up all the infrastructure and bought a snowcat—but he couldn't get the locals to sell off enough land to make the project happen...
As for staying over, half-board is $97/person for double or triple rooms. The hotel is honestly lovely—it was just built two years ago...
Skiing is $10/day, lessons are $33/hour, and you can rent gear too, though I didn't catch the price...
I'm heading back again next weekend, so if anyone else is interested, let me know...
So, were you over at the Kupjak area? I'm just curious where they'll have the trails ready for next weekend—is it at the Kupjak snow park or right up in the main mountains?

A quick question for those living in the mountains:
Are there any good recreational running trails around for locals? If you know any, please recommend them! Even a contact might help—maybe local running clubs would know which paths are currently well-maintained...
@Frank Green2:
How much did your stay at the mountain resort end up costing you last year?
Well, your estimate for that resort sounds a bit off to me. Back in January 2010, the four of us paid about $80 a night for an apartment, and honestly, it was flawless.
Fast forward to now, and we wanted the exact same place, but the hotel was quoting $125 a night. We even asked why the price jumped so much—especially since they had squeezed us into a larger unit last year for the price of a smaller one, simply because they didn't have our specific reservation available, despite us booking it back in September. I remember thinking it was a bit odd how they managed to fit two extra people in by using the kitchen sofa...🙂 At least they didn't overcharge us then! This year, though, we skipped the smaller unit entirely because nobody wanted to sleep in the kitchen.
We eventually ended up in a lovely apartment in the mountains, literally a stone's throw from last year's cross-country ski trail. It was hit or miss with the weather—snowless for the first half of the week, then non-stop snowfall for the second. We kept hoping a snowcat would show up to groom the trails, but no luck. A few local kids were just cross-country skiing along the side roads instead.
When we were leaving, we chatted with the hosts about the trail situation, and here's the scoop: the snowcat is privately owned by someone who just built a new lodge near the nearby village. Since he's always working, the machine stays over there, and he might head our way to clear trails if the neighbors stop complaining about him driving through their fields. So, despite the great scenery, we aren't counting on the trails being ready until the local municipality or some official organization steps up and gets its own equipment.
Based on what's being said about the area further north, they've cleared at least one path, but overall, things are looking a bit bleak.
If anyone spots a good trail out there, please let the group know! 🙂
Oh, and looking at the shops over the last few years, the best selection of gear I saw was last month at the Intersport over at the Westgate mall. I wasn't with an expert, so I can't vouch for the technical specs, but they had brands like Fischer and TecnoPro—here are some photos.

Now, let's not go crucifying the poor guy just yet! 🙂
Anyway, a few of us (mostly rookies and wannabes) headed up to Mount Rainier—the trails there are fantastic, here is the layout.
Crowds
There are people everywhere over the weekend—all ages, all shapes—everyone rushing about like crazy, except for us snails 🙂. On Saturdays, they have recreational races, but during the week, it’s much quieter and honestly even more beautiful.
We noticed some folks were using instructors, but we decided to save that for our next trip.
Lodging
The bungalows were an easy 5+ out of 5—perfect for groups of 4+2. They were super well-equipped, cozy, and practically brand new.
A quick tip for the ski racers: if you're planning to hit Mount Rainier, grab bungalow Macesen no. 1 or something nearby; they are right by the trails (the trail is just across from the Macesen 1 bungalows).
Mount Rainier Complex
There's a little convenience store up there—definitely pricier than a Walmart down in the valley—but for small daily things like bread, it's fine. For a big grocery haul, better to stop at one of the large stores in Zreč; it'll be cheaper than up in the Appalachian Mountains. There are dining spots available too, though aside from the local mountain lodges, we didn't really venture out.
They also have ski rentals and whatever else you might need; they carry cross-country gear as well, and the staff is very friendly.
All in all, I’d definitely head back somewhere like that again...

Has anyone ever tried cross-country skiing up near Mount Rainier? I was wondering if there are any local schools or lessons available out there.

I’m looking for a recommendation for a solid, caring dentist who accepts Medicare—ideally somewhere around the Gajnic, Stenjevac, or Vrapc areas.

Dear Maria Hayes, I really hope your father is doing okay.
To anyone else who might find themselves facing something similar, I’ll echo what others have said here: get to the ER immediately!
My own dad had those exact same symptoms during a minor stroke—we actually thought he just had too much to drink, and honestly, when someone is disoriented and not acting like themselves, they aren't exactly going to drive themselves to the hospital.
Suspecting a stroke is nothing to take lightly.
Keeping my fingers crossed that everything turns out fine! 🙂

Hey skiers, does anyone have recommendations on where to pick up gear?
Specifically looking for options here in the States...
It doesn't really make sense to pay for those highway passes in SLO when my poles cost almost as much.

Yeah, we were searching around the Catskill Mountains too—didn't spot a thing.
A local contact from our place near Petehovac pointed us down toward the village of Polan, which is where we eventually stumbled upon the trail. It wasn't anything major—just a small loop—but it did the trick for our first time out.
Here are a few shots:

On the way back, we saw a pro out there running laps, but the rain started kicking up—so we just headed home.
Have you happened to find any other trails around here? Since you know the technique—where'd you pick up your gear? I have a ton of questions! 🙂

Just wanted to bump this thread up a bit.
It’s honestly wild how hard it is to find any decent info online regarding cross-country skiing lessons or schools here in the States.
Does anyone happen to have any recent leads—maybe some contact numbers or email addresses for local clubs or instructors who specialize in this?
We finally stumbled upon a well-groomed trail, but—if I'm being honest—we could really use some professional coaching to get it right.

Looking for recommendations for a good GP?

I'm also looking for a good GP recommendation somewhere in downtown Washington, D.C.
For those of you who have already asked about this thread—specifically anyone who switched over to Dr. Ivanka's office or that clinic on Runjanin—are you actually happy with them?
