Parasite (1982) in Movies ·
Laura Palmer25 said:I honestly don't think she has much to brag about even after her role in Parasite, so I’m totally on the same page as the OP here!

Looking at this photo, her expression is pretty much identical to 99% of the shots I've ever seen of her.

It's that classic look—sort of a confused, sultry, "I want you but I'm also begging for it" gaze paired with those slightly parted lips.

Honestly, I feel like Kristen Stewart might be her true spiritual successor.

But hey, listen... regardless of whether a movie is actually any good or not, I’ll always give her credit for G.I. Jane... if only for her incredible physical fitness or just her overall look. 🙂 She was also absolutely fantastic in Disclosure...

I mean, seriously, she's just someone I always love seeing on screen... 🙂

P.S. Personally, I’ve always thought Demi Moore was just a pretty average actress, so there's really nothing to be embarrassed about here.

It's purely a coincidence! I don't even run a blog, and as for Demi, whether she's hitting her stride or missing the mark, I always find it such a treat to see her pop up on my screen. 🙂

Besides, you've got Charles Band directing Parasite, which feels like it's just lost in the shuffle of those various Full Moon Productions titles—and let's be real, that studio doesn't exactly have a track record of cinematic masterpieces... though, if you dig through the director's filmography, you might stumble upon a few gems like Doll Graveyard (2005.) or even The Gingerdead Man (2005.), though that last one is an absolute riot of a joke. 🙂

Oh, I remember seeing this! I caught it at a theater in San Francisco back when I was just a kid hanging out with the older crowd... honestly, that movie terrified me to my very core! Of course, it wasn't shown in 3D like they do nowadays, and looking back, some parts seem pretty hilarious. Even so, I still think it’s definitely worth a watch...

You get to see a young Demi Moore (she probably cringes thinking about this one today!)...

It’s got those classic 3D tropes where things just fly right out of the screen at you...

And a little bit of gore too...

...plus he’s got that half-serious, intense look on Denzel Washington's face. 🙂

Such a fantastic movie! I mean, sure, it exists in its own little bubble where you have to just buy into some pretty wild police maneuvers and coincidences that line up in absolutely mind-blowing ways, but man, it’s truly spectacular. Washington was given the chance to deliver some of the most incredible dialogue I've ever seen in a film... and honestly, that speaks volumes about how good the writing actually is.

Since I can't quite put my finger on it, there isn't anything inherently wrong with the film—everything is technically right where it should be—but for some reason I just can't seem to connect with 🙂

Besides, now that we have Carnage (2011) in the mix, we might as well just start calling this a quartet! 🙂

Sadly, this just reminded me of that absolute garbage.

Nah, she’s still stealing things and isn't quite ready for action yet! 🤣

If anyone is wondering where her source material comes from...

Anyway... I don't know... looking at the trailer now, it feels a bit... more geared toward kids? Even though it carries an R rating, which makes me really curious to see what actually jumps out of the woods at them. Regardless, I think I'll give the movie a watch, though probably not in a theater. 🙂
Fast & Furious X (2012) in Movies ·
While I actually had a blast watching the first one, it’s such a rare occurrence when a remake actually manages to outshine the original film

(On the flip side, it's incredibly tough to top that classic (!) and yeah, let's be honest, the title looks like something straight out of a Saturday morning cartoon! 🤣)

By the time I hit the second movie, I felt like I'd seen enough. I guess I'll check this one out, but mostly just to say I did.

Given how much momentum this franchise has picked up lately—and considering the massive return on investment they're seeing—we might actually be waiting a good while before we see more installments. 🙂

Honestly, no matter how you slice it, I’ve sat through all three of them now, and I actually thought they were pretty good! I’m definitely planning on giving the fourth one a watch too... though, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say I'm absolutely obsessed or anything. 🙂
Drive Angry 3D (2011) in Movies ·
I honestly can't believe it! I always thought I was on my own when it came to loving this flick... but seeing all the fans here makes me so happy. 🙂

It’s such an absolute badass movie!

Look, I'll be the first to admit I'm a huge fan of Nicolas Cage; even his worst stuff is usually worth a watch if you're looking for something fun, but Drive Angry is just top-tier, high-octane action insanity.

Oh man, you're absolutely right—fear really is still the greatest character ever written! It’s just one of those things that stays with you, isn't it? 🙏 Honestly, I’ve been sitting here thinking about it all morning, and I really feel like we need to see a spin-off where the bear takes center stage! Just imagine it—giving that little guy his own spotlight and letting him drive the entire narrative. It would be such a blast to see the story through his eyes for once. 😁

Consider it done—just like that!

Oh man, I just finished watching Ted (2012), and I honestly have so many thoughts swirling around in my head! It’s one of those movies that really catches you off guard because you think you know exactly what kind of ride you're in for, but then it just takes these hilarious, unexpected turns. I remember sitting on my couch with a huge bowl of popcorn, thinking it would be a quick little laugh, but I ended up totally immersed in the story! There is something so uniquely charming about the way it balances that crude, irreverent humor with a surprisingly sweet core. You look at the friendship between the main characters, and even though it's filled with ridiculous situations and constant banter, there's a genuine sense of loyalty there that actually hits you right in the feelings. It reminds me of those old-school buddy comedies we used to watch growing than, where the bond feels unbreakable despite all the chaos. The comedic timing is just spot on, too. I found myself laughing out loud at things I didn't even realize were going to be funny, which is the sign of a truly well-crafted comedy. It’s got that perfect blend of being absolutely absurd while still feeling grounded in this weird, wonderful reality. Honestly, if you haven't seen it yet, you are seriously missing out on a great time! It’s such an uplifting, goofy, and heartfelt experience—definitely one of those films that leaves you wearing a big grin long after the credits roll.

🤣

This is genuinely such a fantastic film—everything from the core narrative to the visual design is just top-tier. I’m still blown away by the sheer discipline shown by Haley Joel Osment; his ability to stay perfectly still without even a single blink during those intense scenes is honestly incredible to watch. I actually have the movie in my own physical media collection—one of those gorgeous collector's editions that comes with the sturdy cardboard slipcases, a beautiful booklet, and all those extra little touches. It serves as such a wonderful reminder of those golden days when studios really poured their hearts and souls into the packaging and presentation of home video releases. 😍

No, seriously—it isn't some cursed group of damn aliens we're dealing with here; we're actually looking at a whole new generation of robots! 🙂

Honestly, as the movie started winding down towards the end, I found myself questioning whether I was actually keeping up with who was drinking and who was crying! I wasn't entirely sure if I had tied all the loose ends together perfectly, but it was just complex enough to keep me totally hooked without losing interest. It’s a really solid film, all things considered. I actually heard a rumor that some big Hollywood studios are already prepping an American remake... so, does anyone have any fresh updates on that? 🙂

John Peterson3 said:Man, I was just sitting here thinking about those wilder days—you know, when you're young, reckless, and basically fueled by nothing but pure, unadulterated confidence and bad ideas! It’s funny how much energy you have when you don't have a care in the world, isn't it?

Honestly, I was just sitting here thinking about how there are just so many absolutely incredible movies out there! You know those days when you realize the sheer quality of cinema we have access to? It’s such a blast to dive into a great film.

Honestly, I have to say that Point Break is hands down one of the greatest action movies ever made... it’s just one of those absolute, unquantifiable guilty pleasures that I can never get enough of! 🙂

Pappas: Twenty-two years... man, Los Angeles has gone through such a massive transformation in that time. It feels like the air has gotten a whole lot grittier, while everything else has become so much more sanitized and polite.

And this too... just absolutely immeasurable... 🤣

Johnny Utah: Alright, alright, I hear you loud and clear! Is this the part where you give me the whole "locals rule these waters" speech and tell me that some Yuppie tourist like me has no business even looking at this break?
Weiss bunker: [smiling] Not a chance.
Surf gang: Honestly, I think that would just be a total waste of everyone's time...
Pittman : We're just gonna fuck you up!

wiredraven82 said:Man, you’ve gotta go back and watch that again ASAP... specifically that scene I linked above where they’re all running for their lives trying to get the car started, and then he just blasts the rear window with a shotgun, the car rolls off on its own, and they're still just sprinting away! Hahaha! Honestly, sometimes I sit back and wonder if the whole cast was actually high during that shoot because the acting is just MAESTRALNOST—it's absolutely legendary. And I don't just mean that one moment; the entire movie is incredible, but that part totally killed me.

It's an iconic scene, truly iconic, sorry! I'll try to stay focused, I promise 😁

As far as I'm concerned, you don't have to; you're staying right on topic. 🙂

I'm sure BN will be back in the spotlight again eventually, definitely... 😉

wiredraven82 said:Oh come on, guys... there are so many legendary moments in this movie, is that really all you can remember? Personally, out of a sea of iconic scenes, my absolute favorite has to be when those three are trying to move detergent to a dealer under the influence, while that Chinese guy just keeps blasting away with his pistol and that groovy 70s soundtrack keeps pumping in the background, hahaha! MAN, OH MAN... I still crack up laughing every single time I think about it.

What a masterpiece of a scene 😂 everything about it is just pure perfection (at least in my book).

I mean, hats off to you, it truly is an incredible film... but honestly, I haven't sat down to watch it since its initial release, and all I can really picture is Moore’s pale skin and those freckles. Sadly, yeah, I guess I'm just that much of a Neanderthal. 🙂

I honestly couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear during the entire movie... is it just me, or was anyone else actually having a blast with that ridiculous, tongue-in-cheek humor? It was so wonderfully lowbrow!🙂

Oh, totally! It’s definitely possible that More Comics still has a few of those old copies tucked away on a shelf somewhere, but if you really do the math—I mean, 95 times 3... goodness—those editions are just looking pretty desperate at this point! 😢

Honestly, don't bother wasting your energy searching local shops... everything was snapped up ages ago!

Your absolute best bet—and this is exactly what I ended up doing myself—is to just order from Amazon UK...

The entire box set, shipping and all, comes out to about $83... plus, you won't even have to worry about customs fees, and the edition is just absolutely stunning. 🙂
