Gerald Chavez7 said:What a load of nonsense 🤦... it’s going to be an uphill battle for the pro-Putin crowd over the next few years. Europe is ramping up both renewables and nuclear energy, while Russian gas supplies just keep shrinking year after year.

Honestly, they've got some seriously rough years ahead of them🎉

It'll be super interesting to see if the 2022 season ends up breaking records for heat pump installations, especially after that crazy high 2021 run

Even with everything being so unpredictable lately, heat pump sales across Europe actually climbed by +7.4% back in 2020. They moved about 1.62 million units throughout Europe, which was hitting a brand new peak. https://www.rehva.eu/rehva-journal/c...e%20Figure%201).

Russia has basically spent this whole war shooting themselves in both feet, and they're doing it for the long haul. It's definitely happening with their energy exports, and you can bet that once this settles, their arms sales—all that hardware currently sitting out in the fields of Ukraine

And sure, Americans should probably just fund those oligarchs from the Ural mountains who treat nations like their own personal playground while screaming about mushrooms over Warsaw.

Look, there's actually this whole international intergovernmental organization called FATF, or The Financial Action Task Force, which basically audits pretty much every country to see how they're doing when it comes to stopping Money Laundering and terrorism financing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Financ...ion_Task_Force

The Financial Action Task Force (on Money Laundering) (FATF), also known by its French name, Groupe d'action financière (GAFI), is an intergovernmental organisation founded in 1989 on the initiative of the G7 to develop policies to combat money laundering.[2] In 2001, its mandate was expanded to include terrorism financing.

Right now, only Iran and South Korea are stuck on the black list. As for the gray list, it's a bit more crowded—we're talking places like Albania, Barbados, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Jordan, Haiti, Malta, Mali, Morocco, Myanmar (Burma), Nicaragua, Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, Senegal, South Sudan, Syria, Turkey, Uganda, Yemen and Zimbabwe.

As you can see, Qatar isn't even on the gray list. 😉 So, honestly, there aren't any real hurdles preventing Qatar from exporting gas based on some random allegations about terrorism financing. If they were actually sitting on the gray or black list, then yeah, people would definitely be taking that into account.

Bottom line is, there are actual formal mechanisms in place to handle these kinds of issues.

Even the UAE recently slipped onto the gray list, which is definitely going to hit their economy where it hurts. https://www.france24.com/en/live-new...obust-response

Besides, Europe could just stop buying Russian gas and oil altogether instead of merely debating the topic and drafting endless contingency plans for some vague point in the future.

It could happen, and frankly, it should happen ASAP for the sake of the Euro or the Ruble.
Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·
Honestly, this whole thing about paying in Rubles is just another one of those classic smoke-and-mirror tricks from Russia. Look, Russia still has open accounts in Dollars and Euros for incoming payments, and they’re all tied down by these long-term contracts that the Russians love to bring up whenever they want to sound important. If they actually wanted to, they could shut those accounts down tomorrow and send the money right back in Dollars or Euros to the European Union. But they don't. They aren't doing it. And if they’re really over being dependent on Dollars and Euros, then they should just close them once and for all instead of playing these games. 🍿

goldenowl73, what you’re doing here isn't even just shameless bias anymore; it’s straight-up, malicious, bottom-of-the-barrel manipulation.
And then people wonder why, when it comes to politics, you have to hunt through a magnifying glass for anyone on these boards you can actually have a decent debate with, because everything is just choked out by mindless, repetitive spam that makes it impossible to get a word in edgewise.
To make matters worse, whether we're talking about the NATO/Russia conflict or our own deep dives into dealing with bad actors, you're always going to run into massive amounts of this one-sided, brain-numbing garbage just because, hey, we’re clearly the center of the universe, right?

Basically, ever since those aggressors showed up in Crimea, you’ve been on this relentless crusade regarding this topic, even though the guidelines—for us mere mortals—have been crystal clear from the start.
In the meantime, I still remember those "eyewitness" posts about the gloomy, vacant looks on Russians' faces that you used to post so regularly during your time over there.
That was just brilliant.

And here’s a fresh one, just another example of how there’s truly no limit to your disgusting manipulations.

Now you're even dragging Ante Gotovina into the mix just so every casual reader can finally see exactly what kind of aggressive thugs the poor Ukrainians are dealing with.

Honestly, I think the Morning News and the Buzin unit are total amateurs at tracking this crisis, and personally, I think you should have been kicked off the moderation team ages ago because, time and again, you've shown you're a complete embarrassment to this administration.

And what exactly is manipulative about it? There's a direct link to the statement. The gentleman who posted it is the Deputy Governor of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

And what is this constant talk about the Buzin unit? Are you implying that the US Embassy is busy posting on an online forum? First off, who exactly are you casting suspicion on? "USA freedom"... I have to admit, that's a pretty sophisticated approach.😁 Or maybe you mean Michael Collins?😍 So please, show me some actual evidence that this famous Buzin unit exists or tell me about these "paid mercenaries" you keep rambling about.

Even the Scotchman noticed who was being louder on the topic. "Don't be like that. Look, the fact that those advocating for the Russian option are loud, flooding the boards with hundreds of posts and appearing dominant because they act unified (they aren't, but that's how it looks from the outside) is something none of us can change. What are we supposed to do? Have Reddit guarantee a contingent of supporters for the Ukrainian side to create balance? Should we build a bot program to flood the boards with technical random posts for the Ukrainian side?"

Has anyone ever even mentioned a combat unit from Canada?

The way you constantly drag this discussion toward the County Executive is really getting out of hand.

Personal impressions are allowed too—whether it's mine from Moscow or yours from Yakutsk if you ever decide to head over there, where you can report back to us on how picking wildflowers in January works if you even manage to spot any.

And it bothers you when there's a Twitter link to a statement, yet it didn't bother you when a supporter's post was deleted—the one accusing the American Army of crimes in Afghanistan and equating these aggressive volunteers in the Donbas with our guys in Afghanistan.

Man, if I have to draw these parallels again... this whole warning is basically about how you keep trying to drag in those historical comparisons between Mexicans and Americans, stretching it out for three pages until we hit the Stone Age just to derail the thread. You can post your latest "boots on the ground" update where you try to paint me as some radical extremist while you act like a hero, but honestly, nobody’s going to stop you from rambling about those Austrian volunteers you're so obsessed with—which, by the way, I've never even heard of. This isn't making a comparison; these are literal photos of a sniper from the Donetsk-based Mexican forces in the Donbas.

And hey, look, even a moderator is allowed to have an opinion, right?

driftingtinker said:Hey, I’m asking the moderator nicely—could you point me to the specific post or quote where it says my comparison was okay? Because if not, I’m gonna have to call this out as a total bad-faith move designed to get me flagged, which honestly deserves a warning card.
If it's not too much trouble, I'd love to see some actual evidence regarding these "Mexican paramilitary units," unless by that you mean those three clowns over there, though I still don't see how any of that even relates to what we're talking about here.

Also, I’m still waiting on the moderation team to weigh in or say something about this biased moderator situation.

Wait, who even said you were claiming that in the first place? You haven't actually asserted anything like that; you're just trying to drag this whole debate down into the gutter of the PZK forums.

The latest field report is right here in plain English that all of us can actually understand, instead of that Russian stuff that keeps getting linked everywhere, and it shows that the assessment isn't just coming from some random clowns, but is legit. 🤷

So, if you look at what the mod himself laid out in the opening post:

Those were the official guidelines, but check out today's little masterpiece from our favorite moderator:

Thanks for listening.

Look, did those paramilitary units show up in Ukraine? Yeah, they did. Did the separatist commander fight in Canada 1992? You bet he did. That has everything to do with what's happening in Ukraine right now. Are we just going to pretend those aren't cold, hard facts? Because if we do, then I guess some people on this forum are going to jump to the ridiculous conclusion that the US Army commits crimes in Afghanistan. But hey, if that's the kind of logic you're comfortable with, be my guest.

Look, we actually have visibility into your IP addresses. Seriously, if I even get a hunch that someone is a clone, I’ll go ahead and check. I sniff around, compare IPs, and run my own little clone tracker... and right at the start of this thread, it says in bold and underlined, "We aren't going to warn you about this anymore, nor will we warn you about tagging people or especially the mutual accusations of trolling.
" This is already the seventh thread about Ukraine where we keep pinning the exact same post, and you guys CONSTANTLY ignore it. It's a million warnings, pleas, and strikes. Yet, the same group of people keeps doing the exact same things.

And honestly, the persistent, almost daily refrain from you heavy hitters is always "stop trolling," or "look how much they're trolling," etc. Even here in this specific thread, you couldn't help yourselves.

Just look at the thread itself. You've basically chased away everyone with half a brain through your constant aggressive outbursts. If Charles Fox10 and I didn't step in to clean this mess up, nobody who thinks differently than you few regular visitors—who keep pushing that same old line over there—would ever write anything. Because once you catch someone in your loop, there's no way they're staying for more than a couple of days. You'll just be left with about ten of you sitting there alone, stroking each other's egos and mocking any links anyone tries to post. And heaven forbid someone returns to post about the guy or the works of the President of the RF; then you'll probably finally have a thread that suits your tastes, where they'll start posting every tiny detail of a tank's carburetor like it's some peak achievement of human civilization.

Honestly, this thread turned into a total circus after just three pages—it’s basically just people arguing with ghosts and endless trolling at this point. But hey, if the OP is really that desperate to keep this thing alive, fine, here’s a little something to kick things off again for them.
Politics/Ukraine Discussion Thread #5 in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I mean, sure, if you want to debate military formations or even compare different paramilitary groups in other parts of the world, I get why people do that. But trying to drag pedophilia into the whole Ukraine situation? That’s just completely unhinged. And don't even get me started on those cannibalism rumors... it's totally insane.
It feels like the next logical step in this trend where they try to paint Americans as nothing more than bottom-feeders, which we've already seen starting to happen lately.

Honestly, I’ve found myself getting pretty turned off by the entire Ukraine topic lately, mostly because it feels like the same small group of people is constantly shouting these ridiculous things over and over again...

swiftstag66 said:Look, I’m really not trying to start a fight with the mod team here—I'm definitely not Sisyphus—but I honestly feel like this rule about punishing "one-liners" just because they include a link is totally unsustainable. It feels pretty arbitrary to penalize someone for a quick comment paired with a link while letting people drop one-liners without links pass as just part of the usual forum culture.

To give you an idea, check out these two consecutive posts:

Both of these have been happening since this place launched, and nobody ever batted an eye before. Honestly, that’s just how people talk on internet boards, and if you ask me, the number of people actually bothered by it is tiny.

But here's the real kicker: this hyper-strict enforcement regarding "link dumping" is being pushed way too hard in the thread about Ukraine, and if I may be so bold, it feels like it's being applied selectively to favor one side of the debate over the other. If either of those two posts had happened to include a link to some news article or, heaven forbid, a YouTube clip, they would've been slapped with a ban immediately. There’s just no consistency or logic to it, IMO.

Bottom line: either ban one-liners across the board—whether it's in Politics or the general lounge—or stop nitpicking and quit punishing short comments that include a link, especially when both the statement and the video are clearly meant to answer another user's point.

It isn't actually about the one-liners, it's about the links...

Think about it when someone writes something like:

Check out what this guy is saying...

And then someone else replies:

Nah, it's nothing http://www.theguardian.com/commentis...-so-do-parents

They just keep stacking links like that... often in foreign languages without any translation, and in the Ukraine threads, people even love sticking Russian or Ukrainian links in there...

By the way, that exact user you quoted just got hit with a ban for posting a link without any context. So much for "fairness" in this debate...

Right under my warning—the one that’s sticking out like a sore thumb in blue text—some guy rolls up and just dumps a Washington Post link like he's some kind of genius. This was after he’d already been slapped with a few warnings for doing the exact same thing... so honestly, you try being smart about how you explain the rules to certain people. But hey, I guess it's all my fault because I'm just "goldenowl73," the big bad guy who supposedly defends physical violence. 🙄
Red Rocky in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I honestly don't know how anyone manages to stay sane without a little bit of excitement or some kind of ritual to keep things interesting, you know? It’s like when I was living out in Austin back in the day, we used to have these massive bonfire gatherings that just felt so primal and necessary to shake off the weekday grind. There's something about that flickering light and the heat hitting your face that just resets your entire brain. It’s less about the fire itself and more about that feeling of gathering around something powerful to just... exist for a second. Anyway, I was just thinking about how much we all need those moments of pure, unadulterpped energy to feel alive! kaže:
Man, I can't believe they're handing out red cards again to anyone posting videos that clearly show how badly human rights are being trampled by the new government over in Ukraine. It’s like, come on, the footage speaks for itself! But honestly, I guess I get why they're doing it—I’d probably be blushing with shame too if I were out here trying to defend physical violence and calling it "democracy."

Honestly, it’s kind of a joke what this forum has turned into lately. 😉

Wait, did you seriously just get flagged? Like, a full-on warning? Man, I really hope you actually know why that happened to you. Seriously, take a second to go back and look at the thread title and the very first post in this section. It’s all right there. One of our big rules is that you can't just drop random links into a conversation without adding a quick little blurb or some context to explain what they are. It's super annoying for everyone else when we just see a URL floating around with zero explanation, so the mods have to step in. Just keep it chill and follow the guidelines next time!

Man, it feels like we’re explaining the exact same thing for the hundredth time, but people just refuse to listen, and then everyone starts pointing fingers at the moderators like they're the ones causing all the drama...

Honestly, I got slapped with an undeserved warning just because I called out his trolling. You guys can be the judge of that.

Look, I already told you once: you only picked up a minimum 10-point penalty for calling someone out as a troll, when honestly, if we were being strict, it should have been at least 30. If you’ve got a problem with someone trolling, just send a private message to the mods instead of blowing up a thread about Ukraine.
Red Rocky in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Moderators are totally allowed to jump into the discussion too. Look, you're getting a warning from me for this specific post because it breaks our subforum rules.

Article 6.
• If you’re posting stuff in a foreign language, you absolutely have to include a quick summary in English! You don't need to translate every single word—just grab the main point in one or two sentences. Posts without a summary might end up being deleted.
• Links aren't a substitute for actual writing. When you drop a link, you need to give us a little context—like the title, a summary, or a key quote. We need to know why that page actually matters to the conversation.

Also, I flagged you yesterday for trolling when you wrote
that the model is the Heroin Republic of Mexico.

And gentlemarlin, you're getting a warning from me on that thread, specifically back on March 6th for this... just like what happened back in February when you were insulting other users. Telling someone they aren't stupid, but just "mentally backward," is nothing but an insult and a useless ad hominem attack...

Not to mention all those posts that got wiped out because they deserved warnings but didn't get them.

Best,

Look, this whole argument has absolutely nothing to do with what you actually posted. Trolling is just pathetic... were you really trying to prove how hilarious you are? And on top of that, why are you even mocking those people from the North America for some reason only you understand? Honestly, hoping someone shows up at your door with a firearm is definitely a topic for a different kind of conversation, not for a forum like this. Besides, looking back at your old posts and your history here, it’s pretty obvious you’ve always been a bit of a troublemaker on this board. Plus, I’m totally backing everything loneraven25 said above.

darkhawk said:I’ll reveal it to whoever I feel like telling. Not that they even have the right to ask, honestly. So yeah, Nice, Scotman, and Anderson can find out my old handle whenever they want. You? No chance. And you don't get to put me on the spot about it.

As for that top post, that warning was totally justified, and I’m definitely not complaining about it.

That just isn't how it works. If you slap a "de-" prefix on my name, I basically become an anti-civilizer, and since the opposite of civilization is just pure primitivism—right? 😉

To be totally real with you, I figured if she could pull a stunt like this, then I could too, especially since this kind of style seems to fly here. It’s funny because it clearly works for some people and not others. Like, someone who shares your specific vibe gets a pass, but since I don't, I'm stuck. Okay, look, that’s just human nature, I get it, but at least don't go bragging about a warning when it has absolutely nothing to do with what we're actually debating. Now I feel like I have to push back—either he needs to back off, or the lady should get the same warning for trolling.

(And hey, I really don't want W000 to get a warning! I’m only bringing this up because I care about the truth.)

You basically handed yourself a patronizing, bossy nickname and that's the energy you're bringing to the table. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with using the "de-" prefix.

But I *do* see a massive problem with a former or current moderator—someone who has access to everything—coming onto a public thread to settle scores like this and then actually bragging about being buddies with the owner...

For me, it's case closed. You've earned two warnings from me: one for the trolling, which was clearly an insult, and another for bringing moderator business into a general topic, which I know you knew was against the rules given your level of access... plus all those deleted posts you're whining about, which you obviously still have access to view anyway. 😉
