I can't say I agree with you there because what was said in that first post was incredibly specific and directed at someone in particular so next time you feel the urge to weigh in on something, maybe try doing it with a bit more decorum
Man, I’m basically growing old and gray just sitting here, waiting for you to finally drop some actual logic in your posts instead of whatever this is.
Look, we already hashed out the nitty-gritty details over private messages, so there isn't much left to argue about behind closed doors, but I figured I’d lay out pretty much everything regarding this whole situation right here for the sake of transparency.
so, there’s just a whole lot going on here as if it weren't enough that mods already have to sweat through all that effort to stay objective, now we’re supposed to pick them based on some political playbook and rotate them out every four years like they're running for President or something?? honestly, if someone is actually siding with a specific political party just because of who happens to be moderating the forum, I wouldn't want that kind of person on my side anyway.
And that whole bit about how they survived during those famine years...
Honestly, give me a break. If they were actually smart enough to realize they were starving back then, they probably would have been smart enough to figure out they weren't hungry anymore by now.
Honestly, the whole thing is just blatant self-promotion
I mean, come on, give us more of the same—just a bunch of housewives and amateur cooks playing pretend Look, I’ve actually put in the work myself, you know? That’s what real home cooking is. This stuff we're seeing? It’s mostly just guys acting like they're master vintners when they're really just hobbyists with an ego
They couldn't care less if you're hungry or thirsty or anything else; all they care about is getting a pat on the back for their "hard work" so they can feel like they're the absolute best in the business
You could easily pivot this whole discussion about dye toward a massive, sprawling debate on every single possible way to manufacture red pigment and which different bases they can be used for, but honestly, that’s a complete tangent and wouldn't really be about the dye itself anymore.
Alexander Hayes3, look, we’re talking about the Pope's visit to England here, not having a debate over who the Pope is or what Dawkins thinks I went ahead and cleared out the posts, because you aren't the only one who decided to lose the plot, but I'd appreciate it if everyone could actually try to stay on topic moving forward The truth is, almost everyone jumping into this discussion was practically begging for a warning or a ban
grrrr, I wasn't aiming that directly at Eric Collins5 my bad, Eric Collins5, really—it's my own fault for not being more careful with my phrasing, which leads to me sounding like I'm calling people out by name when I'm not actually doing that
if memory serves, there used to be this really great little corner dedicated to all things paganism on the forums, and honestly, it was quite a pleasure to read through
Well, I don't think it’s quite that black and white; we actually possess certain intuitive faculties—abilities to perceive or at least conceptualize and estimate what else might exist out there—it’s just that we can't always provide the mathematical proof for it immediately. Take electricity, radio waves, or even radiation, for instance; those are solid examples.
On the flip side, much like the old notion that the finest art is forged through suffering, creativity often springs from a place of intense necessity. Even a simple hammer wouldn't have been invented if there wasn't a fundamental need for one. 🙂 And if my memory serves me right, some guy back in the 14th century actually argued that patent offices should be abolished entirely because everything had already been invented. I can only imagine how much he would have stirred up trouble in today's world.
And honestly, what am I supposed to do about it? Why are they even like that? People get so incredibly wrapped up in their religion, treating it like this heavy, monumental thing they have to prove to the world, so naturally, they act all solemn and intense about it. Like I’ve said before, there are plenty of places and people out there who just don't take themselves that seriously, and frankly, those are the kinds of spots you should be heading toward if you want to actually hang out with decent people. I mean, is it really necessary to go out of your way to argue with someone just to prove you aren't one of them?
Have you ever actually laid eyes on an antelope or a zebra wielding a hammer, even if it was some sort of primitive version?? The thing is, they’re still being hunted down by lions and just about everything else today—and that includes us too. 🙂 Humans are the ones who brought creativity to the table, the ones responsible for all those breakthroughs regarding how we use wheels, fire, hammers, and blades, regardless of the fact that those shapes and phenomena would have existed in nature even without our interference. Furthermore, it was humans who cooked up the whole concept of "ownership," which led to us seizing territory, defending it, farming it, and reshaping it to suit our own specific whims and requirements. Still, it’s much easier to just dig a burrow or throw together a shack than to sit around patiently waiting for nature to decide to open up a cave for you. 😉 And so, it becomes this endless cycle where one thing pulls the next along. The sheer necessity for food drove the invention of tools, and those tools didn't just provide sustenance; they bought us the time needed to sit back and dream up, then test out, entirely new concepts.
On the flip side, let's say you suddenly had a vision for an anti-gravity device. The real question is whether you'd actually be capable of building it and getting it into widespread use, even if it were a staggeringly useful invention and a truly original thought.
Or, to look at it another way, imagine if you—or any of us, given how brilliant and capable we consider ourselves to be—were tossed straight into the conditions where our ancestors weren't just surviving, but actively fighting for their spot at the top of the food chain. It would be pretty interesting to see how "simple" and "easy" everything would feel to us back then. 😉
Whether you’re all for it or completely against the whole thing, you’re still just using the collective term "religion" to group it all together, and honestly, those who don't give a damn about any of this are usually busy dealing with much more interesting things anyway.
I honestly don't know how hard this would actually be to prove (speaking purely from a layman's perspective—and maybe being a bit naive here—but I don't think it should be an impossible task) after that, I’d set up a system where everyone involved gets a customized sentence based on their specific level of guilt, and then I'd personally strip them of everything they own and sell their hides just to cover the damages
We’ll be picking out some new moderators here on the forum pretty soon, so in the meantime, I’m asking everyone to just bear with us; if you run into any posts that are causing trouble, feel free to pass them along to the supermods and admins, or honestly, you can just post them right here On the other hand, since this whole platform is built on a different way of thinking, it isn't always crystal clear where we draw the line between what deserves a sanction and what doesn't, which makes things a bit tricky sometimes.
