amberscout6 said:Look, I wouldn't say I'm rushing *all* the time, but I definitely can't sit still for long or just lounge around doing nothing... I always need to be dreaming up something new. Like, if I sit down on the couch to watch some Netflix, my brain starts racing with a million other ideas and I just have to get up and look something up online, research a project, hustle a bit, you know how it is... I really can't stand passive people, and they aren't part of my friend group at all... It drives me crazy when people complain non-stop but won't lift a finger to fix their own lives... I hate it when people moan about being broke while they just sit on the couch waiting for a handout to fall from the sky... I try to make something happen every single chance I get... I'm not some money-obsessed materialist, but I honestly love the thrill of buying and flipping stuff, and I love networking with people who share that same energy. I'll even go in for job interviews even when I don't strictly need a new gig... Basically, I'm always in gear... And I can't stand sitting around talking to other women about kids for hours (maybe it's because I don't have any, but let's be real, I just don't have the time for it) I can't deal with empty, mindless small talk. I want to talk business, stocks, new trends... At the end of the day, I just don't get people who do nothing, have no interests, and zero drive... I don't want anything to do with them. It feels totally unnatural to me to stay stationary...
Look, being curious about things and being in a rush don't necessarily have to go hand in hand. I'm interested in basically everything, and sometimes I can be in constant motion, grinding away without feeling the strain, but if I don't have anything productive on my plate, I can easily waste an entire day messing around with nonsense. Someone can be totally uninterested in most things yet still be constantly rushing, just like someone else can be fascinated by everything but prefer to move through life at a much more laid-back pace.
I honestly feel like people who rush through their day just to get to the "relaxing" part end up totally missing the point of actually relaxing in the first place... though maybe they do enjoy it, I don't even know anymore... For me, the real kick comes from doing something I definitely shouldn't be doing because there's actual work piling up on my desk... because let's face it, once you finally wrap up a project, you always find some tiny little error or a random detail you need to tweak, so you end up spiraling anyway... and by the end of it, "resting" basically just turns into sprinting toward my bed so I can pass out as fast as possible.
Yeah, true... I’m currently unemployed and living with my parents, so I’ve got way too much time on my hands right now... But honestly, I don't know, whenever I actually *do* need to get something done, I just can't stand it when people try to push me or force me to do it this second. I hate starting things immediately. There's always going to be another five minutes of just chilling first... Back when I was in college, if something wasn't an absolute emergency, there was plenty of time. Then, at the very last minute, if I had to pull an all-nighter—like, stay up all night and then through the next day and night—fine, no biggie... you always find a way to squeeze it all in eventually. The thing is, people who are constantly rushing tend to rush even when they're supposed to be relaxing. For instance, how many people do you know who, when their vacation finally rolls around, have absolutely no clue what to do with themselves because they're so used to being in work mode? Or like, when Thanksgiving or Christmas or whatever holiday is coming up, everyone starts scrambling to bake all the cookies and get everything ready as fast as possible just to get it over with. Even though, honestly, nobody would complain if we only made three types of cookies instead of ten. I feel like some people just pile work onto themselves that doesn't even need to be there... Take cleaning the house, for example—that's a never-ending job, and obviously, you have to clean up so you aren't living in a pigsty. But some people will basically torture themselves by deciding they need to vacuum every single day, wash the windows and the curtains every week, and whatnot... and then they spend the whole time whining about how busy they are, when they're the ones who piled it on (I’m not talking about basic stuff like making lunch or doing the dishes, obviously). And then, at the end of the day, even when people go on vacation, they're still rushing around. One year, I totally lost it because my cousin kept waking me up at 8 or 9 in the morning just so we could get to the beach as early as possible to "make the most of every second!" That's just not my vibe. Of course, if I'm going on a huge trip to see something once-in-a-lifetime (like, I don't know, flying out to see the Grand Canyon or something), then yeah, I want to make the most of the time... but if we're just spending a week or two at the coast... why the hell are we rushing? Every day you can just swim, swim, and swim again. And I think it’s better for your mental health if you just relax a little more and say—screw the windows, they look fine... I'm not saying you should be a total couch potato your entire life and procrastinate on everything, but if certain things aren't even that important, why panic and stress yourself out trying to get them finished right away?
Or maybe I’m just moving in slow motion? Though, honestly, I don't think that's it...
I seriously don't get why some people lose their minds if everything isn't finished this exact second, or if a project doesn't start immediately, or if you don't knock out every single task today instead of leaving it for tomorrow. Like, chill out.
I can't stand it when people try to rush me through things that aren't even urgent enough to matter whether they're done today or next week! 😠 It’s not like I’m sprinting to catch a Greyhound bus; there’s always another one rolling into the station ten minutes later anyway, so what's the big deal?
I really prefer doing things at my own pace, and I just don't understand the obsession with getting everything done right this instant... (my mom is driving me absolutely insane lately). It's like everyone thinks they have to pull an all-nighter like some Wall Street intern, instead of just finishing up by 3 PM like a normal human being.
Okay, but... what's actually going on here? Am I just lazy? Am I like that grasshopper from the fable who kept putting everything off until tomorrow, only to freeze to death once winter hit? Or is it that the people constantly rushing around have some kind of disorder, or they're just incredibly impatient, or whatever...🤷
Is it just that people have this weird psychological need to turn every little thing into a high-stress crisis, or am I actually just being lazy? :/
So, I’ve got this document in English and I was trying to get it to run a grammar check, but every time I click to start the process, absolutely nothing happens... just total silence.
Like, look, all I can actually click on in the menu are "check spelling..." and "use contextual...", everything else is just grayed out and useless. Underneath that, in the exceptions section, I can toggle between my current document or a new one, but again, the whole thing is grayed out! And apparently, I have "hide spelling errors" and "hide grammar errors" checked by default.
And I'm stuck. The only way I can even budge anything is if I uncheck and then re-check those first two options at the top, which finally lets me uncheck "hide spelling errors"... but even then, it still won't show me a single thing! I honestly have no clue how to actually make the grammar mistakes pop up... it's like I somehow buried them so deep in the soul of the software that they're gone forever...😢
Alright, let's get into it... whether it's hot, wide, or whatever else you want to call it.
But what I'm actually wondering is, is this even normal, or should I be heading to a doctor or something?
Last year, back in the spring, my eyes would swell up after I had a drink—I mean, my eyelids would puff out like literal donuts! This year, that hasn't happened, but instead, I've got this whole thing going on with my heart racing...
The weird part is, when I was sipping on whiskey or bourbon, I felt totally fine 😁 but then some liqueur or beer hits me and suddenly everything goes haywire... so, what gives? 🤷
Henry Fisher74 said:I also have low blood pressure, and what you're saying doesn't quite track... normally, when your blood pressure is low, your vessels aren't dilated; they're actually constricted, which makes it harder for oxygen to reach certain organs and leaves you feeling exhausted. That's just how low blood pressure works. As for the alcohol, I've never experienced that, even though I fall into the heavy category of low-pressure sufferers. I guess a little red wine actually helps perk me up, which isn't a bad thing for my BP.
So, I’m sitting here wondering how on earth you can deal with feeling all constricted and tight when your blood pressure is actually bottoming out... like, how does that even work? It feels totally backwards, right? One minute you're feeling lightheaded because your numbers are too low, and the next everything just feels squeezed shut... it doesn't make any sense at all... And people actually believe that drinking straight 100% alcohol just opens up your blood vessels like some kind of miracle cure... honestly, the science is definitely not on your side there...
I mean, isn't it pretty obvious that if you've got high blood pressure, your arteries are basically constricted... which just naturally spikes the pressure because there’s way less room for the blood to actually flow through...
So, when you’re running low on pressure, there’s just too much slack in the system, right? It doesn't exactly deliver that full-body pump we're all looking for, so everything kind of feels... underwhelming, I guess...
So, this thing started happening to me this summer... basically, whenever I head out over the weekend and have a few drinks—maybe one, two, or even more than that—I’ll wake up the next morning feeling like my heart is absolutely sprinting through my chest, just pounding like crazy, and sometimes I actually struggle to catch my breath. Since I already deal with low blood pressure, I was thinking maybe the alcohol is just dilating my vessels even further and bottoming me out even more 😢 To try and fix it, I’ve been trying stuff like dunking my hands in ice water, or just lying down and propping my legs up or whatever... And usually, that seems to take the edge off.. But honestly, nothing worked better than when I went for a swim in the ocean or took a freezing cold shower.
I’m sitting here wondering if I should actually go see a doctor about this, or if I just need to swear off alcohol entirely and never touch it again or what? 🤷
It was especially brutal when the heat waves were hitting hard..
I can't tell if this is just some weird normal thing or if it's actually something I should be worried about... I really don't want my heart to just give out on me.
Alright, so I’m trying to whip up a chart in Microsoft Excel—I’ve got these two columns, one for time and one for force. I highlighted the force column and the chart popped up, and the y-axis looks fine and all, but my x-axis is acting totally weird... it’s just showing these random numbers like 1, 13, 25... I have no clue how to actually change those values on the x-axis? They really ought to be the specific values from my second column. Honestly, I wouldn't even mind just typing them in manually since there aren't that many... but I just can't seem to track down the setting to make it happen.🤷🤷
That’s just not how it works... the truth is, the people who get walked all over because they let everyone do whatever they want are the ones who end up struggling, and honestly, that has nothing to do with being "polite"... you can tell an old lady on the sidewalk to move out of your way without being a complete jerk about it. And look, if you’re just a rude person who doesn't know how to act in public, then yeah, people are going to judge you and think you're obnoxious or full of yourself... and then you're stuck in another lose-lose situation. I mean, if that’s how you were raised, fine by me, whatever... but you're the one dealing with the headache of letting everyone run all over you. And sure, I guess the people who fake being polite when they actually aren't tend to have the easiest time navigating life, but who cares about having the easiest path? The whole point of living isn't just to slide through life on the path of least resistance... it's about actually experiencing it. (Even if that means suffering a little, as long as you're actually enjoying yourself and picking up some actual wisdom along the way)
Raymond Fisher2 said:man, that's why people end up thinking you're just some loose cannon. 🤷 dammit, your reaction is weirdly extreme. instead of just blowing off steam bit by bit, you just go and pull this massive shitshow. you've basically got the potential to be a killer 😁 but whatever, if you were young and just spiraling, fine. I know what it's like dealing with family drama and fighting with your sister and all that crap... but seriously, you gotta learn how to rein it in and channel that negative energy into something better, or at least handle it differently next time... :/
That was forever ago when I was just a kid, like 10 years old. As far as that goes, he was always picking on me and beating me up. What was a 10-year-old supposed to do against someone almost twice his age and way stronger? It wasn't my intention to hurt him, and I told him straight up—like, enough already, I'm done with you and your bullying just because you're bored or whatever. That's it. Looking back, he's caused me way more bullshit in my life than I could ever cause him, so I can't say I love him. But I'm still a bigger brother to him than he is to me because I always helped him out when things got messy (I even lied to our parents for him and never even got a thank you... I just feel like he doesn't even see me as a brother because I'm younger and weaker, but what he doesn't know is that the first chance I get to move out, if God forbid he ever needs my help, he probably won't get it.) And about what they think, the old man is the main issue... even though he'd never admit it, I'm convinced he has PTSD (he spent 3 years deployed in the military and who knows what kind of hell he saw there), so we all suffered around him, and we still do, at least mentally (he's the boss, he's the smartest, he's always right even when he's dead wrong, etc.). hmm... yeah, I totally get where you're coming from with the whole brother situation. I've been like that with my sister my entire life. There was even one moment where I seriously considered pushing her off the balcony, but thankfully I didn't... :/ but hey, who knows, maybe it actually shaped me for the better, since it taught me how to stand my ground🤷 and I think you just need to find a way to channel all that energy somewhere where nobody gets hurt, and then everything might turn out fine. You into sports or anything like that? I know someone else who loses their cool super easily and has all this pent-up energy, and they tend to snap and do things they don't even mean, but they stay busy with different sports to blow off steam. :/ I think the absolute worst thing you can do is just sit there letting the rage build up inside you. For me, drawing, writing, or just messing around with art or music helps clear my head...

You can't just bottle things up! Look, I'm not saying you should go out and kill people... but man, sometimes you just need to let it out on someone when they screw you over. Argue, yell, throw a tantrum, cry, vent if you have to. It's better than taking all that anger out on yourself later... 🤷 okay, sure, sometimes you gotta hold back... but if it actually hurts you, don't just stay silent! Don't let people walk all over you! 3. You can find friends and a girl. You just have to start working on yourself little by little, because with an attitude that negative toward the whole world, you're never going to get what you want. I'd suggest checking out "The Secret." It's full of crap, but there's a grain of truth in it. Positive thoughts lead to positive things. Man, you're pretty messed up inside and you have to start with small steps. Start loving yourself. Like, write down some good things about yourself on paper, find something decent or nice or good about who you are. Don't say there's nothing. If you think there's nothing, ask your mom or your grandma or someone, they'll tell you something. I mean come on, you're not Hitler! 4. Well, people laughed at me too when I was in school, and then I cried, and then they laughed at me for crying... but, you know, I learned some things over time and stuff. do you have siblings?? I don't know, I've been fighting with my sister my whole life, which is what forced me to grow a bit of a backbone. I used to be all "whatever, do what you want, I'll be good, just let me be"... but I've grown up now, I guess. It just happens naturally... So, yeah, I hope there was some actual value in what I just said. Look, you can't go expecting miracles from yourself or anyone else, but man... if you actually put in the work on that whole self-love thing, you'll see how much better life gets, and honestly, people start treating you differently almost immediately too. 😁 Sometimes you just have to do exactly what you want to do, regardless of what anyone else thinks (okay, maybe not if you're planning a felony or something), and just live your life. I don't know, though... is what everyone else thinks about you really that big of a deal to you?
1. How do you make peace with something? Well, you just deal with it. You tell yourself—okay, I look rough, whatever. Or maybe I don't look that bad, fine. Or maybe I look alright, cool...🤷 There isn't much you can change there unless you're looking into plastic surgery or something, but generally speaking, your mental state shows on the outside, so people might actually see you as better looking if you're happy and smiling rather than being all moody and miserable... As for who else you can be with? You mean a girl? Or what? You can be with whoever you want, you're just building up unnecessary walls for yourself. Any person in this life can pretty much get whatever they want if they try... 2. You don't have to throw a tantrum, but if you actually know someone, you can totally just tell them they're acting like a jerk because of this or that. And you can say that to anyone, really. People act differently when you actually speak up about what bothers you and what's insulting... Most people might still be obnoxious, but most will actually show some understanding and empathy. You can't expect people to read your mind and know exactly what you want or whether you're offended in every single moment... sometimes you won't even catch a joke if it isn't meant to be serious...🤷 3. For that second part, there's no point in sitting around thinking about it, just get to work, man! Your problems aren't going to solve themselves just because you sit there whining and feeling sorry for yourself or blaming everyone else for being evil or having bad genes or whatever reason you use to explain why things turned out so crappy. Everyone has to learn how to fight their own battles in life. If you have goals and desires (and you do), just start moving toward them instead of sitting in a corner sulking... 4. Hmm... well, if you have an older brother, you really should have learned how to stand up for yourself by now. Like, were you guys so close that you never once had to disagree with him or anything?... And this thing about other people's opinions—how many people exactly are we talking about when you say they think you're an idiot? I'd bet my life they aren't saying that to you every five minutes. You're only an idiot if YOU believe it, not them. Don't be an idiot, man! People have said all sorts of things to me too, and half of it wasn't even true to begin with... 🤷
A lot of reasons... 1. I look like crap (physically) and get constant comments and snickers about it, so that's one thing... 2. Because of everything that's happened and keeps happening while I just sit there and take it. Like, if someone insults me, I don't snap back. I have this stupid urge or feeling that I have to be "good" or just shut up.
what's your problem?
A ton... but I'm not gonna be one of those people who says I need more money because you can never have enough. I lack friends (don't have a single one), I lack a girlfriend (never had one and honestly doubt I ever will), and I don't really have any hobbies, to be real...
are you a bad person or something?
Dunno. Depends on how you define it. If being a criminal means something, then no. But if it's something else, maybe.
why do you hate everyone so much? what did they even do to you?
I hate everyone because most of the time they're just mocking me for everything. Plus all the different ways I got humiliated growing up, and my parents neglecting me—like having a father who almost choked me with his bare hands over a failing math grade in middle school. Yeah, it goes on like that...
you like nature?
Yeah. Most of the time I head out at night to walk through the woods or whatever so people can't see me. There's this one river I stare at a lot and just think about how much I wish I was anywhere else but here...
1. I know people who are straight-up nasty or gross, yet they're doing totally fine and they couldn't care less that they aren't models or whatever. hmm... I've got like, a million different versions of how my life plays out: - Finish college, move out, live with my boyfriend, blah blah... maybe have kids one day, who knows... - Finish college, get my own place, and if the boyfriend leaves, just find someone else and do the same thing... - Finish college, move out, and if that guy doesn't work out either, I'll just date whoever catches my eye, travel the world, party, live a little, and eventually have kids with whoever happens to be around... - Ultimately, I'd love to just disappear into the woods somewhere, paint, write poetry, play video games online, maybe scare some kids on the street and brag about my amazing life...
Look, we all know the world we’re living in is pretty much a dumpster fire, and let's be real, America can feel like a total disaster sometimes... but even so, we’re all still stuck in this mess together, trying to find those little moments that don't suck. It's not like everything surrounding you is garbage and every single person you run into is a piece of work. sure, you've got maniacs, corruption, wars, assaults, and all that dark stuff out there... but at the exact same time, there are massive groups of people out there helping strangers for absolutely nothing in return, and then there are just regular folks who are actually friends and hang out just because, or families and couples who actually give a damn about each other... so, why don't you love yourself? what's the deal? are you actually a bad person or something? and honestly, why do you hate everyone else so much? what did they ever do to you? do you even like nature? go outside for a bit, watch a sunrise, stare at the clouds, look at the animals and the trees, and just listen to the wind in the leaves. if you can't see the beauty in the world after doing that, then I guess you're just beyond help...
If people back in the Stone Age had been making those same kinds of claims, we’d probably still be huddled together in caves today, thinking life was just absolutely grand 👍
Maybe they’re playing Dexter, thinking they’ll go out and take out someone who doesn't bring anything useful to the table... I mean, most of them don't have the guts to go after actual heavy hitters, so they just pick easy targets—people society already looks down on, like the homeless or whatever... people nobody is really going to miss, though obviously, some people will... but you know how it goes, they're just seen as bottom-of-the-barrel trash... so it’s an easy way out. And serial killers probably just have this overwhelming urge to kill, so they settle for whoever is the easiest mark.
As for women, I honestly think they mostly kill for money or because of some intense emotional trigger... I don't know...
Oh, and I'm pretty sure there's just a surplus of male criminals out there, mostly because guys have such a hard time actually expressing how they feel or communicating with anyone else... they just bottle everything up and suffer in silence until they eventually hit a breaking point and just snap... sure, there are women like that, and there are plenty of guys who are just sensitive and cry all the time, but that’s definitely the exception rather than the rule... Women spend their whole lives talking through what's bothering them, leaning on each other, venting, crying whenever they need to—even if it's right in the middle of a sidewalk, and that's totally fine. But men? They're taught from day one that they aren't allowed to cry, simply because they're men. It’s like how little kids act—both boys and girls cry the exact same way when they fall down or when someone's mean to them... except then boys get constantly nagged to toughen up, and other kids make fun of them for it—I mean, yeah, girls get teased too if they're too emotional, but boys get it way worse... and so, one day, they just lose it and do something messed up.
