Hey guys, quick question—is there any way to start a thread with a "hidden" poll on here? Like, I’m looking for a way where the results are totally private and only visible to the people who actually cast a vote.
I've started a few threads with polls before, but I haven't seen an option like that yet, so I figured I'd just ask!
Is it just me, or is anyone else getting this weird "notification" pop-up while browsing the forum today? Every few pages I scroll through, this thing just jumps out and takes over my entire screen—it completely covers the forum for a few seconds before disappearing.
Thanks! I actually stumbled upon that earlier, but I just wanted to check which one would look best with the forum layout. But honestly, you’re totally right—it's a great call to just test out all three formats and see which vibe fits me best! 👍
Casey Bennett said:Increasing your inbox capacity isn't an option. However, if you look at the bottom of the message page, there's a feature that lets you save your messages in three different formats.
Thanks! 🙂
So, maybe walk me through this like I'm some "old timer" who isn't quite as tech-savvy as the younger crowd:
Am I right in thinking I just head down to: "Selected messages: save to folder"?
Once I've picked my messages, which format is actually the best one to use—you know, to make sure they look pretty much exactly like they do in the PMs here on the forum?
And I'm assuming these get saved directly onto my own computer rather than back onto the forum itself, right?
By the way, I know the mods can have their PM boxes bumped up 😉 and maybe regular users could too, but I guess the owner decided on this specific limit Anyway, that's totally beside the point and not really what we're talking about here, so as a regular user, I don't really care about that part.
Exactly what the title says. Is there any way to bump up my PM inbox limit—maybe even through a paid SMS service or something?
I’m constantly clearing things out, but my inbox is still hitting that limit! I’ve got a ton of messages I really don't want to delete, so I figured I'd ask.
Ugh, unfortunately my personality just won't let me stay out of this...
Kyle Gonzalez—look, since you used to be a top-tier moderator on another board and now you're just a regular user here like me—I’ll give it to you straight so you know exactly what’s going on. And hey, don't think I'm some untouchable VIP; I've actually picked up a few warnings myself on this forum this year alone.
The mods aren't really here to police everyone's personal beefs or settle private vendettas. Their whole job is basically to keep an eye on threads, and if they stumble upon a post that breaks the rules or get hit with a report, they step in. They decide how to handle things based on the specific situation—which means they might act, or they might decide it's not worth it if nothing major happened.
Long story short: the mods are here to maintain order and make sure the rules are followed, not to play private investigator for "feuding" users.
Just take this as a neutral perspective from someone who knows the ropes a bit but is still just a regular user, not a mod.
My advice? Honestly, just avoid the people you can't stand (or who can't stand you), and if you see a post that's actually breaking the rules, just report it. It'll keep your head clearer, and the mods won't have to deal with drama that doesn't actually affect them or the site—it's just personal friction between certain users.
Sleep on it and think about it. Anyway, wishing you all the best!
I’m really hoping that after everyone has had a chance to cool off overnight, some supermod or admin steps in and looks at this a bit more objectively.
It’s honestly such a bummer because some of your reactions in that specific thread are kind of leaving a mark on what’s otherwise been seriously solid work on the forum.

Look, even under American law, if someone is just speaking their mind based on the current guidelines, they shouldn't be getting slapped with an insult charge just for laying out the facts!
Look, if someone’s out there working the streets and they call themselves a hooker to your face—it's just facts, right? You can't really get in trouble for just stating the obvious!
Look, when a guy cheats on his wife—especially when he’s physically taking advantage of people by hiding the truth about things that would make them say "absolutely not" to intimacy—that is straight-up narcissistic behavior. Seriously! And from a legal standpoint? That's actually a punishable offense here in the States.
Look, based on everything we just talked about—honestly, you're basically breaking the law here. You're committing a crime and just straight-up ignoring it without even notifying the authorities, especially since there’s more than enough evidence to back it up!
Nothing—and I mean absolutely nothing—comes before the law.
Look, I’ve got all the screenshots to prove it—I am absolutely telling you, I didn't break any rules! It was other people on this forum who were out of line, so I'm seriously asking for some intervention here.
Look, if I haven't made this crystal clear yet, let me lay it all out for you: So, according to US law, here's what you're actually allowed to do in public: Look, you gotta call a thief a thief, and if someone’s out there acting like a total fraud or just straight-up lying, you might as well say it! You can call out a liar for being a liar or tell it like it is when someone's being shady—all without landing yourself in hot water for libel or slander. I'm definitely not trying to get all legalistic on you here—that's totally not my lane—but honestly, sometimes you just gotta speak the truth!
And just so we're clear—failing to report a crime that you know is illegal? That's also totally punishable. Not a good look!
I’m really hoping you guys can take a look at what's going on here with an objective eye—strictly by the book, please! And hey, don't go labeling me as some smart-aleck just because I'm pushing back against the mods—that's not it at all. I'm just someone who wants to see my constitutional rights in the USA actually respected!
What I'm actually asking for is some intervention regarding the posts in this thread—the ones that caused this whole mess in the first place—because they didn't violate any US laws, nor were they even illegal.
I'm guessing you're thinking about my other thread here, but that’s not what this is about.
The reason I say "guessing" is because back when I was a Super Mod, I dealt with all sorts of reports too—I had to use my own judgment to figure out which ones were legitimate and which ones were just people being petty.
Sophia Thomas7, first off—I’m not some kind of drama queen! I just can't stand seeing things go wrong without saying something. And look, if we're strictly talking legalities here, I actually can't even file an official report right now regarding what's happening on the ground in the US, because all those reports have to be submitted following specific US laws. As far as I know, there isn't even a way to submit a valid, official complaint electronically.
Bottom line? I think everyone is heading down the wrong path here and you guys really need to step up and react. Not because I think I'm a genius or anything—trust me, I don't—but just looking at all the facts currently on the table.
Joshua Jones13, just so you know—I didn't get flagged for being rude or anything, I got hit for breaking the forum rules.
Think about it when you have a second—could breaking the laws of the USA actually count as violating some kind of "private right" protected under American law?
Even on private property, current USA laws still apply and have to be respected.
Give my last post a closer look—maybe then it'll click what I'm actually getting at! If you guys really think I don't know what I'm talking about, just go ask Joe—as far as I know, he's pretty much an expert on American law.
Look, I’m not gonna sit here and demand anyone gets banned or anything—I'm not that guy—but honestly? Giving out a red card over what was said in that last post is a bit much, don't you think? It feels totally overkill!

Is calling someone out for having narcissistic tendencies actually an insult if they’re literally checking every single box for narcissism in their post?
I'm not trying to start some big academic debate here—I just want to know, does saying that count as being insulting?
Some guy over on LJS started this thread and right out of the gate, he was asking for honest opinions—and yeah, even criticism:
SpaZZZanG said:Any hate or disagreement with my choices is totally welcome—bring it on! 👍
The guy is cheating on his wife, messing up the lives of two naive girls, and basically living off his partners.
Even though that’s enough to make you think twice, the real reason I'm posting is because the moderator won't let the thread stay open for discussion—instead, they're handing out bans to users who are just doing exactly what the author asked for in his first post!
I haven't complained about anything in ten years, seriously, but now I am actually calling for an intervention from someone higher up—someone above this specific moderator.
What I mean by "intervention" is that they need to lock the thread and clear the strikes from the users who got them. If nothing else, at least fix that part—because people are getting penalized for giving the exact feedback the author requested at the start.
Btw, it looks like the moderator didn't even bother reading that first post... otherwise, they wouldn't be handing out strikes like candy.
You can toss anyone you want onto your Ignore list whenever you feel like it—once they're gone, their posts just vanish from your view across the entire forum. It means you won't even notice if that person tries to tag you, drops a comment on one of your threads, or starts talking behind your back 😁
Mark Harris66 said:I’m not even surprised, Benny. If you pick up the book by Agent Storm, you'll see his autobiography—he's a Dane who actually converted to Islam and went through terrorist training in Yemen... then, after a few years, he ended up working as a secret agent for the Danish intelligence service. He describes how he could fly back and forth between Denmark and Yemen multiple times a year without anyone batting an eye. To make matters even wilder, the Danish government actually subsidized his Arabic studies in Yemen—plus, whenever he was back in Denmark, they covered his rent and social benefits because he was technically a "social case." He really drives home the point that Europe doesn't take these risks seriously enough. He predicted these kinds of events happening across Europe, and he wrote the book two years ago—it came out in the US about a year and a half ago. It’s a great read that breaks down exactly how and why terrorists radicalize so easily, how the whole thing is organized, and how it all works... plus, he touches on the terrible—maybe even intentional—lack of cooperation between European intelligence agencies.
Could you maybe elaborate a bit more on the bolded part?
Look, as a seasoned psychologist, I’m not surprised by anything involving our human race—even all that political maneuvering and playing people like puppets is just a subset of the psychological manipulation we're all susceptible to. Sure, some of us fall for it more than others, but it’s universal.
You can buy one person with money, another with a good reputation, a third with empty promises, and a fourth with religious zeal... but at the end of the day, it’s all just psychological manipulation. Obviously, regular folks often use these tactics subconsciously, unlike politicians and people in uniform—and honestly, that's where terrorists fit right in.
