steelskipper5 said:Look, the proposal is actually pretty straightforward if you stop overthinking it: just quit deleting threads that actually mean something.

That’s a bit of a sweeping generalization if you ask me, and honestly, it’s the kind of broad advice that could apply to pretty much any subforum on this site at any given moment. 😁 If only things actually worked that way for once. 😁

Nicholas King said:Here’s a constructive suggestion: I’d love it if the moderator who decided to nuked that perfectly meaningful thread would actually step up, reach out, and explain themselves—you know, give us a little insight into why they felt that topic didn't belong on Lowe's, let alone any other platform out there. Honestly, I won't even go as far as to grill them with a full-blown comparative analysis of all the other threads that *did* make the cut for Lowe's, because frankly, we all know how that comparison would turn out. 🙂 Honestly, it’s a massive stretch to expect anyone to actually bother starting a meaningful conversation around here, let alone putting in the effort to write anything substantial on Lowe's.

Honestly, if the moderators would just stop nuking every single thread I want to start, I’d be a happy man. I mean, really, after seeing how they’ve handled this particular discussion, I’m pretty much convinced about exactly how much "supervision" they plan on exercising over us.

I really hope you're feeling good about how that went down—honestly, seeing that kind of reaction, I’d say you hit the nail right on the head. 🙂

Look, I’m just going to say it: can we please, for the love of all that is holy, start posting actual constructive reviews on Lowe's? It would be nice if we could move past the mindless venting and actually help people out once in a while. 😉

Hey there. 🙂

So, I was thinking—do you guys actually have any constructive ideas on how we could make LJS better, or are we just going to keep aimlessly chatting away in here? 😁

I mean, look, you know how this whole thing works. It’s not like the moderators can just go around spawning new threads based on whatever whims you all have, so if you want a specific discussion, just start one yourselves. The mods will be there to keep an eye on things and make sure the conversation doesn't descend into total chaos. 🙂

just so I don't clutter up the place by starting a whole new thread... lately, my inbox has been getting absolutely hammered with private messages from people inviting me to these sketchy new forums, and honestly, it’s driving me up the wall :/
is there actually a way to make this stop, or am I just stuck dealing with it?

If you look up in the top right corner, you'll see a little red triangle icon—kind of like the one on individual posts—that's specifically there for reporting harassment, threats, or spam. Just flag the message and the person who sent it, and trust me, they'll end up having a very bad day with the mods. 😁

If you really want to go scorched earth and just never hear from them again, you can actually go into your settings and shut off private messages entirely, or just set it so only people on your friends list can reach out.

Man, that’s just impossible. 😛

Scarsick is a massive letdown, honestly just terrible... if I remember right, it was supposed to be something along the lines of TPE2 😕

Yeah, well, at least that's what Gildenlöw claims. Personally, I think he's just drunk. 😁

I didn't even bother listening to this latest one, and honestly, looks like I won't need to either

It's better than Scarsick, sure, but it's nothing special. 🤷
Tool in Music ·
A Swedish progressive rock/metal outfit.

The lineup has shifted quite a bit over the years, but if you’re looking for the one person responsible for everything—the brilliant highs and the messy lows—it’s Daniel Gildenlöw. He’s a songwriting genius and a killer vocalist, sure, but let's be real, he's also a total pretentious megalomaniac. 😁

So far, they've dropped seven studio albums:
  • Entropia (1997)
  • One hour by The Concrete lak (1998)
  • The Perfect element I. (2000)
  • Remedy lan (2002)
  • be ( 2005 ) Scarsick (2005)
  • Scarsick (2007)
  • Road Salt One (2010)

That first batch of four isn't exactly what you’d expect from a standard prog rock/metal band, but they don't go overboard with all that technical shredding that tends to drive people crazy in later DT albums. The music from Tool is complex, for sure, but the focus stays on the song as a whole and the actual emotion behind it, rather than just running five-minute solos for the sake of it. If I had to compare them to anyone, I'd put them closer to Opeth, Katatoni, or Anathema than to DT. 🤔

The Perfect element and Remedy lan are fucking masterpieces; honestly, if you have even a passing interest in prog metal or just generally good music, these are mandatory listening. 🙂

But after that, things start heading downhill. 😁 be ( 2005 ) Scarsick is an interesting listen, packed with megalomaniacal concepts and tons of experimentation, but in all that tinkering, there’s actually very little of the music that originally won fans over during those first four records. I don't know, some people swear it's a masterpiece, but to me, it feels like exhausting, self-indulgent posturing. 🤷

Scarsick is the complete opposite—a really raw, stripped-back sound with some nu-metal undertones bleeding through. 🤦

Their latest, Road Salt One, is like a deep dive into the 70s, featuring a gritty, unpolished production that sounds like it could have been recorded back then, leaning heavily into rock and blues territory.

Gildenlöw seems obsessed with reinventing the wheel; he flat-out refuses to make albums that sound like his previous work. That can be a great thing, but in my humble opinion, lately it’s just resulted in a string of flops.

Andrew Booth29 said:And there isn't exactly a wealth of profound wisdom to be found here... You have two pillars, right? By letting those from the old system die out, you’re essentially just shifting the weight—increasing the share of the second pillar while shrinking the first. It's a numbers game. Give it thirty years, and maybe you'll be fine.

Oh, sure, because calling that a thirty-year fix is being incredibly, wildly optimistic.

Everyone is freaking out about aging populations—especially over in Europe—where people are spending more and more of their lives in retirement... and instead of actually fixing things, our "geniuses" decided to handle factory bankruptcies by basically shoving thirty-year-olds into early retirement. It’s like trying to patch a sinking ship by throwing the crew overboard to lighten the load.🤦

There is absolutely zero chance we dig ourselves out of this absolute dumpster fire in thirty years.😁
Joshua Doyle75 said:Look at this guy, acting like it’s not enough to pull in a massive monthly salary, plus all those lucrative endorsement deals, not to mention he’s already got a guaranteed career waiting for him once he hangs up the gear—probably something like a high-level tactical instructor for the military forces. $12 Honestly, let him go; nobody's going to shed a tear when he walks out the door.

👍

I mean, who actually gives a damn about biathlon? Seriously, who is even watching? What is America supposedly losing by him leaving? It’s not like the national pride is going to crumble because one athlete decided to move on. 🤷

Matthew Ramos61 said:Look, I’m going to need you to give me a concrete definition of what "as soon as possible" actually means in this context.

Honestly, I could probably come up with at least five half-baked, barely believable excuses for why I'm late to the party, but if we're being real, the truth is I just had a few too many drinks on the very day I intended to get back to you and then, well, you completely slipped my mind. 😳 😬

Basically, since I'm dying to drop my review of Star Trek and get a discussion going about how it's an underwhelming series that some moderators happen to obsess over, I really don't care about any of that—I'm just asking once more to please lift my ban from the fantasy subforum.

Denied.

The reason is simple: right before you got banned, your contributions to the fantasy section were almost entirely toxic, and frankly, seeing as you haven't even touched this account in years, I have absolutely zero reason to believe you've suddenly decided to play nice.
redmarlin3 said:Look, don't you start bringing up WWII with those weird little retro vibes, okay?

Oh, I absolutely have to! Because, let’s be honest, the entire universe revolves around me, and if things don't align perfectly with my personal schedule, I simply must stage a full-blown dramatic meltdown. 😁

I mean, we could always just throw a massive party together and see how it goes, 😁

Nah, honestly, it's way easier to sit back and criticize everyone else than it is to actually get off your butt and build something yourself. 😬
Douglas Wilson44 said:Thanks.
Would you honestly prefer if they just lumped everything together onto the exact same day? I mean, come on, that sounds like a total recipe for disaster, doesn't it? It’s like trying to schedule a massive blowout party at a crowded Vegas casino on the same night as a Super Bowl halftime show—you’re basically begging for chaos and zero breathing room. I feel like we need some space to actually process things, rather than just getting slammed by one giant wave of madness all at once. Personally, I think spreading it out makes way more sense, but hey, what do I know?
I mean, let’s be real here—it was pretty much the only other way this could have gone down.

Ugh. Seriously. Just... grrrr.

Honestly, I am about two seconds away from losing my mind and cursing out every single band that refuses to adjust their tour dates for Americans. It’s like they don't even care if we can actually make it to the shows or not. 😬

Kevin Chavez3 said:I mean, why didn't anyone just tell them to go on a quick three-week tour across the States instead? That way, feraltrucker5 could actually save up enough cash to catch the show without breaking the bank. 😁

Look, it’s not even about the money at this point—it’s more that I can't exactly show up to my job two days in a row looking like I just rolled out of a dive bar in downtown Chicago after a bender. 😢 😁

stormyviper11 said:This whole mess with team orders and those idiotic bans is just a direct result of one guy, Rubens Barrichello, acting like a total loose cannon while he was on the ground in Austria. That scandal was so bad he should've been fired on the spot.

Look, if I’m dumping hundreds of millions of dollars into a business every single year, I have every right to decide how my drivers—who are being paid a fortune just for the privilege of driving for me—cross the finish line. In any real American corporation, if an employee acted out like that—publicly undermining management and making it obvious they don't give a damn about following orders right in front of investors and partners—they’d be kicked to the curb immediately.

Because of these stupid rules, we had to sit through that pathetic excuse for a press conference yesterday where the drivers were basically forced to dodge or ignore every question. Honestly, I really hope Ferrari hits Massa where it hurts financially for repeating a slightly toned-down version of Barrichello's nonsense... if they don't just fire him outright.

Or do I need to be some kind of political outcast—let's say, a Jew in a forum's version of a totalitarian regime?

Look, I didn't hand out the ban, and I certainly don't have the power to lift it; I was just passing through to answer the question in the title. 😁

I could always point you toward someone in charge, but if I do that, I’ll probably blow my entire quota of good deeds for the quarter. 😬

Looks like you’ve been slapped with a partial ban over at Amtrak. Seems like you were being a bit of a menace on their boards.

God, you guys are exhausting. 🙂

Industrial espionage, pressuring drivers to force a collision, team orders (just like what goes on at Ferrari)—all of that is absolute nonsense compared to how corrupt Ferrari actually is.

Honestly, it seems like some people’s blood pressure just spikes the second they see a flash of red, making it physically impossible for them to think straight. 😁

redheron12 said:I have to say—even Michael Schumacher didn't lack grit the way Alonso does today.

Back when he had those nasty leg injuries, he wasn't too proud to step back and play second fiddle to Eddie Irvine. The man showed real backbone—something I honestly doubt Alonso could ever manage.

Thinking about it now, compared to the bunch of amateurs running around the grid lately, Schumacher’s mistakes seem almost trivial. It makes him one of my favorite, most respectable figures in the sport. 👍

Man, if only we had actually lived through those days. 😬

Now I'm just sitting here waiting for the locust plague or some other sign that the apocalypse is finally upon us. 😂

redheron12 said:Come on, cosmicridge5, please don't mess this up.

When was the last time a driver at McLaren was actually ordered to let someone else through?

If I recall correctly—and I try to keep my facts straight—Coulthard was sensible enough to know when to yield without being told.

Kovalainen was painfully slow back then; I doubt anyone even needed to give him orders.

Then there was Alonso, who essentially wrecked the team's chances—yet he was never ordered to move for Lewis, and we lost the title by a single point because of it.

It seems pretty clear to the drivers themselves where things stand—who holds the better position—and they should be able to make those calls on their own.

Take Kimi, for instance—he let Massa through once, but nobody panicked about it, mostly because it's understood that Kimi is intelligent enough to handle things without being micromanaged.

So, just STFU!

Well, baby Felipe is plenty smart too. 🤷 It's just that once they told him Alonso was moving faster, he basically decided to clear a path on his own initiative (🤣) and get out of the way. 👍

Thomas Lee7 said:How many more millions does he actually need? How long is he gonna keep humilitating himself? Is it over when he finally says, "I've got enough cash now, screw you all, I'm too damn good of a driver for this crap"?

Since when did doing the job you're actually getting paid for and following the terms of your contract become some kind of humiliation? 🤔

Honestly, my heart is just breaking for poor Massa. 🙂

Whatever, let him just head over to Force India and sweep the championship; that’ll really show those jerks at Ferrari what kind of driver he actually is. 👍

Thomas Lee7 said:Formula 1 has become a total joke. People need to boycott these races—both in the stands and on TV—so those shameless, rich losers running this circus realize they're just playing games with each other. And guys like Mass? They deserve a leash around their necks for the rest of their lives because he’s lower than the most pathetic dog. Where's his dignity? Where's his competitive spirit? Honestly, what a complete loser.

Look, it's just a job, plain and simple. You think the cashier at Walmart is out there worrying about "dignity" or "sporting spirit"? Not a chance. The only difference here is that she gets paid a few bucks an hour while he's pulling in millions.

When are people going to stop swallowing this manufactured mythology and actually face the real world?

Yeah, I really can't picture Kimi actually laughing. 😁
