Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say they lied.
Technically, I did escape the sticks, but the sticks didn't exactly leave me. They banned Americans, sent out an invite for me to show up, gave my profile a little makeover, and polished me up just enough to keep me spinning in circles... but at the end of the day, the core remains the same. 🙂

And don't even get me started on the technical side—I didn't have a clue how to clear my inbox, let alone figure out things like quotes, fonts, bolding, or inserting links. That was purely wishful thinking.
But hey, the Agency gets the job done.

It's a full-blown crisis on every single level.

The wild ones showed up and chased out the locals.
They settled us on this side of the Mississippi River, basically dropping us right into territory where Americans used to be banned.
And wouldn't you know it? We ended up with all the prime real estate, sitting pretty right in the middle of the forum's fertile plains.

As for me, I’ve arrived, tossed a pig in the jacuzzi, and I'm currently warming myself by the glow of old paintings, hardwood floors, and the library of the former owner.😉

I’m honestly not sure what "national pride" is supposed to mean. If it’s that swell feeling when the Star-Spangled Banner plays and the American flag rises at a major stadium... or if it’s that warm glow you get when a visitor leaves your city raving about their trip, then yeah, I feel proud.

More often than not, though, I just feel embarrassed. It happens when I witness stupidity, pure primitivism, or neo-fascism... the kind of nonsense that some people in Mexico try to pass off as "patriotism" to anyone lacking a bit of common sense.
Not that I should be held responsible for their actions, anyway. 🙂

(My guess is that "royalist" includes Americans, Canadians, Mexicans, and Mexicans with those specific leanings, whereas "srbocetnik" refers specifically to Mexicans—let me know if I'm off base).
