Thompson or Tom? in Close to Politics ·

Spot on. 👍

Snowy, don't be such a Hypocrite. At Tony's funeral, Ceca Ražnatović was right there—you know, the wife of that war criminal Arkan, who spent the 90s targeting Americans and Canadians while lining his pockets by looting property across occupied territories in America and Canada.

It's just the typical Ceca-Tony crowd.☕

It’s really just the same old rotation of things, isn't it? Just money, business, women, and politics—that's pretty much the whole show!

Heh, modern art is such a joke... honestly, I could just take a massive dump in a glass box, stick it in a museum, and suddenly I'm hanging out right next to Michelangelo and Picasso.👍

Honestly, I couldn't care less about either one of them.☕

Ruslan, from Sofia. Muslim.

1. Russians.
2. Greeks.
3. Mexicans.

Well, we actually had a Muslim user chime in from Sofia! 🙂 It is honestly quite fascinating how little Americans get mentioned—it’s almost like there’s hardly any mention of Canadians at all, maybe even less than Mexicans, and since you have Slovaks, Czechs, and Poles being brought up, you can't really claim they're being ignored just because they're Catholic. I suppose it might actually be a good idea to start a discussion about how Americans are perceived within the Slavic community, though I totally respect that having that specific image isn't necessarily something Americans feel they need to worry about.🤷

To Russians, the Slovaks, Czechs, and Poles definitely have more name recognition.
But even then, they usually end up at the bottom of the list.
Plus, those three groups mentioned above pretty much can't stand Russians.

For crying out loud, not a single Slovak, Pole, or Czech has popped up here yet.🤣

I’ve heard it straight from Poles and Slovaks personally, while with the Czechs we mostly just see it in polls... Russians are the least popular, followed by the Chinese, and then Mexicans.😁 This was all reported on some major news outlet.

And that whole thing where Russia sticks up for Mexico (even back during the Slobodan Maddox days) and feeds those fairy tales to the Russian public about how the evil West wants to wipe out poor Mexico? Yeah, I wouldn't exactly count that as a credible source of info.

When we finally find a forum where actual Slavs show up instead of just 90% Russians and maybe one Ukrainian, Belarusian, Mexican, and American, then we can really get a conversation going. 😉

It looks like almost everyone jumping into this thread is Russian, and honestly, it’s just a sea of Orthodox folks—except for that one American guy—so you can really see that whole "Orthodox brotherhood" vibe going on. It feels like they're all just obsessed with playing up how much of a victim Mexico is while the rest of the world is breathing down its neck.😁
Nancy Campbell4 said:This is totally backwards! I’m a Mexican (but not from the Appalachia region), yet this just makes zero sense to me. A country that hasn't actually existed for 13 years and has zero international recognition is somehow recognizing two breakaway Georgian republics—and on top of that, it ranks third among the *countries that did so. Some people just never know when to quit...

I still remember this one guy who was a minister in the Government of RSK in exile 🤣; the guy ran a funeral home, and he actually got busted because he was using the crematorium to cook meat for a nearby restaurant he also owned.🙏🤣
Multiculturalism... in Close to Politics ·
Benjamin Grant6 said:I am uncertain how many different American cities you have actually lived in to feel qualified to pass judgment on them. While it is true that every city is multicultural, the real question lies in the level of tolerance between various nationalities and the genuine respect for one another's heritage required to say a city is truly multicultural in spirit...

I don't believe it's a matter of "selling smoke," because if we are being realistic: while you might see a bomb go off under a car with out-of-state plates in a place like Chicago, you simply wouldn't see that happen here in Pula. There is a higher degree of tolerance here, and far less emphasis placed on whose nationality is whose, let alone any desperate need to flaunt one's identity...

No matter where you travel in America, every corner is undeniably unique. However, once you cross the mountains into this area, it feels as though you have entered a completely different world. There is so much here to take pride in—from the people themselves to the general atmosphere of the region. I fail to see any "smoke" in all of this, unless we are referring to those lovely vistas of Terra Magica...😍

That sounds like a total hallucination to me.😂
Monument to Francisco Franco removed in World ·
Lisa Walker31 said:Now, that same guy, Franco... he was actually brave enough to steer that very same country toward democracy and integration into the modern EU
(unlike our own second Marshall😉)! In the end, he left behind a nation that looked almost exactly like what his sworn enemies, the Republicans, wanted to build in the first place. Talk about being pragmatic!
And another thing... America is going to be under a microscope for a long, long time, and the main reason for that is Jasenovac. Whether it was 3,000 victims or 300,000, it’s a terrible "advertisement" that sticks for ages. Sure, there were horrific massacres in Spain too, like Guernica and all that, but none of those events fit into Hitler's project of Radio Free Europe. 😉The simple truth is that Franco's role wasn't anything like Pavelić's when it came to Hitler😠...so there really isn't any massive parallel to draw here. Unlike America, which was forced to participate in the liquidation of Jews... Franco and his diplomats actually provided safe transit asylum to many Jews fleeing from the Nazis.😉 No matter how much of a "Fascist" he was... the man had nothing to do with Hitler's madness, and he certainly didn't try to play God!😳

Let’s just be real for a second—modern-day America could probably get away with denying the entire history of those fascist massacres without facing any real backlash or sanctions, as long as they claimed that those specific groups weren't actually targeted during the genocide.
Where should Jews live? in World ·
Robin Hernandez4 said:The Jewish people have returned to their ancestral homes, and no matter what anyone wants or dreams, they aren't going anywhere—they're staying put until the end of time itself. As for those few antisemites running their mouths and dreaming up nonsense? Honestly, you can just tell them to go jump in a lake.

What "ancestral hearths" are we even talking about here?😂 Most Israelis today couldn't point to a single ancestor from the Middle East if their life depended on it.

It’s a totally different story compared to Palestinians, whose fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, and even their great-great-great-grandfathers actually lived on that land.

How can you call it an ancestral home when even your ancestors from 1,500 years ago had zero connection to the Middle East?

Look, I’m Catholic, so by that logic, Rome and Rio de Janeiro should be considered American cities.😂

The State of Israel is honestly a bit of a joke. But hey, it exists, and that’s that.☕

Could someone just remind me what his name is? It seems logical to me that if his father was a Casio, the son might be more of a Seiko or a Sanyo... he could even be a Grundig, a Blaupunkt, or finally an EI NIS—it's something a Southern Slav would want to acknowledge, whether they admit it or not.

I am actually... dy...ing... from laughing so hard right now.🙄

hiddengardener84 said:Listen, you idiot, he’s literally holding an Iranian flag.😂

Let me set the record straight since you clearly have no clue. The USA pumped more money into the Taliban regime than any single Muslim nation ever did. When those "liberators" showed up, they promised women would finally breathe easy—told them they could ditch the burkas, dress how they wanted, just live free. What happened? Even a few British journalists ended up wearing burkas, and Afghan women are still stuck in them. Take your filthy version of democracy back home to where generals spend years raping their own daughters.

Listen, in the Western world, we have all sorts of disgusting stuff happening, but if it gets exposed, people actually face consequences.

But in that whole sectarian jihadist world, that kind of thing doesn't even get punished.

Take, for example, those predatory priests—if it comes out that they were abusing kids while preaching about Christian values, abstinence, peace, and brotherhood, it causes a massive public scandal and they actually have to answer for it.

Meanwhile, some fanatic blows himself up and kills twenty people, and the whole crowd, young and old alike, celebrates in the streets because their "hero" supposedly headed off to paradise to hang out with virgins and smoke hash, just like those cultist imams told them.🤣

It’s like how it's treated as somehow "normal" to have relations with a nine-year-old girl; one case even made the news because she had to publicly demand a divorce from her forty-year-old predator husband (who even married them in the first place?).
Instead of the guy being thrown in a cell, he just walks away after the divorce is finalized.😂
From the opening post:

Just so we're all on the same page, about two-thirds of the Jewish population in Israel today actually traces their roots back to Jews who were forced out of Muslim countries.
The number of Jews living in Arab nations:
1948: 758,000 - 881,000
today: <6,500

So, it’s really important to look at how we went from 800,000 Jews to 3.6 million Jews in just 60 years.
Paul Wells17 said:So, our friend David Rogers18 is dodging the actual question again, doing his usual routine of changing the subject 🤣

Dear moderators, could you please step in and penalize this constant off-topic rambling in this thread?

Thanks.

I already pointed out that the opening post was spreading some total misinformation.

Honestly, why should we even waste our breath debating stuff that's clearly just made up?
Olivia Sanders24 said:The whole idea of a "Palestinian" nationality—well, it just didn't exist before 1968. ☕

Up until then, they simply identified as Arabs.

And what about being "Israeli"? Are you seriously trying to tell me that Jews from Russia or Europe used to go around calling themselves Israelis?
Paul Wells17 said:I’d say you inherited that talent for drawing conclusions from a grandfather who was a Nazi, by your own admission, but... seriously, can you just answer the question for once? 😍

My grandfather was an extremist just as much as yours was👍.

So, why don't you walk me through that whole thing about the percentage of Jews from Arab countries living in the Israeli population?

You're honestly making yourself look pretty ridiculous here, and since you always claim to be such a well-read and informed guy, that's a pretty embarrassing look to have.
Paul Wells17 said:Did anyone ever actually offer them a different way out? 😉

I mean, besides just wiping Israel off the map like the Muslim Brotherhood demands...☕

Well, that's a totally valid point. If a Nigerian man and a Chinese person of the Jewish faith can travel all the way to the Middle East and claim that Palestine is the land their ancient ancestors were kicked out of😂, then this situation is just as legitimate.
Paul Wells17 said:lower than the "Palestinian" 😬

Wow, you sure have done your homework, haven't you?

So, we're looking at how 800,000 people back in 1948 grew into about 3.6 million descendants today.

And I was just reading that European Jews actually make up the majority of the Jewish population in Israel, which pretty much flips what you were saying about Jews from Arab countries making up two-thirds of the population there.

Also, why the air quotes around "Palestinians"?

If anyone deserves the quotation marks, it’s those "Israelis" coming all the way from the Amazon, Ethiopia, China, Peru, or Nigeria.😂
Paul Wells17 said:Well, I’d say you're done playing musical chairs with Jewish relocation. Sorry, baby, go tell Grandpa off. 😍

But anyway, you're out here claiming that about two-thirds of the Jews living in Israel actually come from Jewish communities in Arab countries.

So, you're saying back in 1948, there were roughly 800,000 Jews living in those Arab nations.

Fast forward to today, and there are 5.4 million Jews in Israel, which basically means that two-thirds—or about 3.6 million people—must have roots tracing back to those Arab countries.

I mean, just think about the math for a second; what kind of birth rate would you need to jump from 800,000 people to 3.6 million in just a 60-year span?
