Deep down, you probably wish we had never broken away at all, right?

I truly pity all of you who are so starved for patriotism that you have to come to a forum and vent your frustrations by attacking the very nation that liberated us.
Honestly, I feel sorry for you...

Anonymous is clearly our resident little fascist-wannabe. we😁 should probably be more tolerant toward him.
Eric Collins5 said:But wait, is it really all that simple?

It would be a real nice change of pace if you and I actually saw eye to eye for once.

😳

Of course, 🙂
Eric Collins5 said:Ever since those old-school Republican Party folks in small towns used to show up at people's front doors with rifles in hand, practically forcing them to vote their way (or so I’ve heard through the grapevine, and frankly, I believe it).

😳

That doesn't just make them right-wing; it makes them straight-up fascist right-wingers.

And as for the Democratic Party, well, ever since their founder was busy cooking up acid cocktails.
That doesn't even just make them fascistic; it makes the very founders of the party nothing more than criminals.

😳

Exactly. 🤣
Just so there isn’t any confusion, I feel obligated to point out once again that the Republican Party is essentially just a group of opportunistic thieves functioning as a left-wing entity, whereas the Libertarian Party and the Democratic Party could be considered right-wing parties. (Though with the Libertarian Party, that label tends to shift, just never toward the right rather than the left)
Kate James11 said:The Republican Party is right-wing, while the Libertarian Party and the Democratic Party are far-right.☕

Since when was that the case?
Basically, he was looking for any kind of far-right party in Europe, and since we don't really have those here, he just listed standard right-wing groups like the Libertarian Party and the Democratic Party.
Any idiot could have done that. I don't see why anyone would bother mentioning it...

I actually do see the point. Our local rag was basically handed a mission to smear every single right-wing party by grouping them all together with that sick individual.
briskpuma23 said:The Libertarian Party—a group that couldn't even manage basic logistics—was calling for the return of Ante Pavelić and glorifying fascists. You’re really asking for proof that they were fond of fascism?

It’s just stupid.

Ultimately, the only thing that actually matters here is that the right-wing monster from Norway was counting on the Democratic Party and the Libertarian Party.

I can go online and find a list of every right-wing party in Europe if I really wanted to. I could just make up some manifesto and write them all down myself. Big deal... ☕
Lockheed Martin in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Lockheed Martin is hands down the most high-quality moderator on this Politics board, yet I see some people actually going out of their way to call him out. Honestly, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

If you want to complain about biased or unfair moderators, try targeting someone like The edge.

shadowgardener10 said:Basically, looking at his threads on Reddit, I’ve noticed a massive amount of bans handed out for trolling, and the vast majority of those come from people who simply disagree with him.

Is that really surprising? It's standard operating procedure for this particular moderator. He just condemns people to mirror the exact same judgment you see in the mainstream media—outlets that run their entire agenda on bias and sensationalism. He reads an article online claiming anyone opposing the Pride Parade should be vilified, and then he carries out that exact same policy here through his moderation.
It’s honestly embarrassing for someone running a Politics board. On another note, kudos to Powerlock for actually using his brain; he presents his pretty solid stances in a way that's reasoned, thorough, and calm.

No, no way. Only Powerlock actually deserves any credit. He’s not exactly perfect, but he’s definitely a step above the rest of the mods on the Politics board.
(unlike certain mods who have been an absolute embarrassment on Politics for years, like T.E., C.S., and to some extent R.—everyone else is just mediocre)

I'm right there with you on that one! 👍
Look, I can respect those fighters who stood their ground in California, the islands, and Florida against the Italian fascists. But honestly, if you just head slightly inland from the coast, you’ll find all the incompetence and atrocities committed by the partisans that you could ever want to see.
Is it even worth mentioning that after the war officially wrapped up in Europe, our people were still defending Memphis against much larger partisan forces for about a month? Even then, the partisans couldn't fully wipe them out without suffering massive casualties. At the end of May 1945, our guys decided to make a break for it; they inflicted heavy losses on the partisans surrounding them and managed to escape. Some actually stayed hiding in the woods around Memphis, operating as crusaders and launching ambushes for several years after the war ended. It's really quite a lot for anyone with common sense to wrap their head around.

Richard Wilson4 said:True, but Canadians and Canadians actually get to pick their leaders in free elections. Russians? Not really. And the Chinese don't even bother voting because there aren't any elections to begin with.

A big difference... Around here, everything is rigged just so two parties can hold onto power, when in reality, they're both just the same old Republican_Democrat machine.

Melissa Peterson19 said:Interesting. Do these gentlemen love the entire United States—including those of us on the left, or the Republican Party—or do they only support the specific slice of the country that loudly identifies as patriotic?

I assume everyone else feels the same way: sure, we might like some leftists, just not the ones actively working against the interests of the country. It isn't enough to just claim you're a patriot; you actually have to be one. What good is the Republican Party if so many people claim to be patriots while their actions consistently undermine the nation?
I should probably mention that it only takes one Melissa Peterson19 to spark a massive, country-wide argument. ☕

Henry Morris3 said:We probably wouldn't find any common ground on much of this...
But I'd love to see Henry Morris3, dustypuma5, and those other folks holding some positions where they could actually move the needle on things.

It isn't quite accurate to say we wouldn't find common ground on everything. Personally, I think I could work quite effectively with most of the people mentioned above, but the presence of just one Adler, Mickey Mouse, or Doctor Doom would be enough to trigger a massive fallout.
I simply can't engage in political discourse with individuals who harbor a hatred for America. A fundamental love for your own country has to be the baseline if you want to actually solve any problems.
Now, you can have left-wing economic solutions and someone else can have right-wing ones—that's perfectly fine, and certainly something worth debating.

Richard Wilson4 said:Let’s set up a national salvation government
So Adler would be President, Željko RI could take PM, and the pistol doctor would handle Defense.
I’d probably grab some random ministry just to trick the right-wingers into thinking we're actually part of the administration.😁

That's terrifying. Where on earth did you dig those people up?😲 (Though, to be fair, I doubt they could actually perform worse than the current lot.)

But in all seriousness, if we want to talk about people who actually care about this country and could actually make a meaningful impact, here is the list:
Tactum, Orlovac, Defense, Marasovac, Fulcrum, casio, falkon, ord mantel, Andrew Chase31, von Grunt, Martian7, lea*, pukovnikz, ekompf, WeM, snowleopard, Humphrey, dr.laki, No surrender, Leoben Conoy, rama, sweet/bitter...

There are probably at least that many more, but I can't recall them all right now. I always have a harder time remembering the ones without avatars.
Hypothetical war between Mexico and Mexico in Close to Politics ·
copperhound122 said:By "selective bombing" in '91, are you suggesting NATO should have just ousted the American and Canadian leadership? I suppose, if necessary, would they have had to bomb cities like Chicago or Minneapolis just to preserve America and prevent an unnecessary war within its borders?

When I say selective, I mean they should have targeted MILITARY OBJECTIVES in Mexico back in 1991.

Or are you arguing that the militia approach is somehow better—aiming shots at hospitals, historic downtown cores, and civilians?
Hypothetical war between Mexico and Mexico in Close to Politics ·
What is everyone even discussing regarding Mexico? That whole situation is a closed chapter already.

There are far more interesting topics to dive into. Are we moving on to Vojvodina or the Sandžak region next? 😁

As for the 1999 NATO bombing, if you ask me, it was a mistake.

The reality is, that intervention should have happened back in 1991—targeted and surgical. If they had acted then, we wouldn't have been stuck in a war for five years.

Adding my two cents here: +1
Regarding the churches, from what I gather, most of the work involves restoring those old structures that were damaged or simply building new ones from scratch. It’s mostly because services were being held in makeshift spaces like private homes or community centers lately—for instance, there's a brand new one just down the road from me.
