It just reminded me why I actually like Felipe. He’s a real person who actually shows some emotion (thinking back to Brazil 2008 and his other emotional outbursts). Meanwhile, guys like Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, and especially Mark Webber? They treat all this glory like a business transaction—cold and totally soulless. 🤮 Like they're just checking boxes or something.

Here’s my take:
Felipe has actual humanity in him. He gave Kamui a genuine greeting, gave him a friendly tap on the helmet, and pulled him aside when he climbed out of the car (Kamui was pretty shaken up and headed straight for his mechanics).
But Seb? On the podium, he just mentioned remembering being on a podium with Kamui back in Formula 3, and he said it so heartlessly, like he was just reading a script. That was it.

Felipe, please, for God and LdM, stay at Ferrari through 2013 (or at least stay in F1)! Because honestly, I’d much rather watch drivers who are human beings than these cold, calculating machines... 🙂

☕

Everything here is just cold, soulless, and purely for show:

That podium shot is proof enough of how cold and empty it all is...
image

And this shows what "celebrating" looks like to them:
image
Just look at the darkness, the packed grandstands, and the drivers facing the crowd...

Good grief, I can't believe the producer actually cut half the broadcast for commercials right when you wanted to see what was happening on and around the track.🤷
Or is Massin's little helmet tap really a bigger celebration than a handshake, a pat on the shoulder, a hug, or just a normal conversation on the podium?😕

Regarding the Alonso vs Kimi situation, Sky will probably have some explanation ready soon, and there'll likely be footage on YouTube shortly...

Anyway, Kimi isn't even remotely at fault, at least according to them and the footage...
Alonso had another mediocre start and was busy trying to hold him off—first from Kimi, then from Button..

And of course, they pulled out that fancy aerial replay of theirs...
here are the shots.

You can clearly see Kimi had a much better launch and was already neck-and-neck with Alonso before things went south...
Which is exactly what he said himself...
and the video proves it too.
image

It’s obvious Kimi got forced wide toward the edge of the track with nowhere to go, yet he still managed to stay right alongside Alonso...
image

Later on, Alonso shoved Kimi right into the grass... and looking at the photo, the track is just as wide there; there's zero evidence of any narrowing🤦
image
Then, while Kimi was recovering from the grass, his wing clipped Alonso's rear tire.

So Kimi is absolutely blameless here... if he were actually at fault, he would've been penalized.
As far as I know, they said at the start of the race that stewards were looking into it, and since no penalty came through during the race (nor any word that one wasn't coming😕)
it makes perfect sense to me that they just called it a racing incident with no penalty...

Honestly, it *should* be ruled a racing incident, because that's exactly what it is.☕
Plus, this all happened in the first lap, and I'm guessing Alonso didn't even see him—he was probably too busy dodging Button and staying focused on him...

So, in my book, even Alonso isn't really to blame. If anyone is, it's more on Alonso's side than Kimi's, because Kimi is totally innocent here.
He got forced off the track and lost control of the car while trying to get back on.
I seriously don't get how anyone could possibly try to pin anything on Kimi in this situation.🤦
We aren't talking about someone being squeezed in a corner or on a section where overtaking is impossible; this is the start of the race on a straightaway, for crying out loud.🤦

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat 🙏🙏🙏

I honestly thought I’d never feel this kind of pure euphoria again after Monza 2008🙏
But here we are. It finally happened.😍

Getting to see Vettel and Kamui Kobayashi standing on that podium together 🙏
Man, I almost teared up from the sheer joy of it all. 😁

Time to go celebrate 🙂🙂

Jason Campbell70 said:Alonso clearly waited until the very end of qualifying on purpose. He obviously thought that was his best move. If he’d actually gone out thirty seconds earlier, maybe he could have taken Spoon at a decent racing pace. But he didn't.
It happened. He blew it because of Kimi Räikkönen. It wasn't even about his own driving mistakes—it was that damn yellow flag on that section of the track. Total disaster thanks to Kimi's error.

Whatever. This whole argument is basically just built on Alonso saying he would've been faster and finished in fourth.
The only issue is that I’m pretty sure Alonso is lying about how long and wide it actually is...

I'm honestly just hunting for some live sector timing from that last lap. I think it would clear up a few things, but no luck finding it anywhere.😢

Did I just stumble upon some footage from the car?☕
From what I can see, Alonso hasn't been able to touch his best lap time of 1:31.833 since the very first lap. He's just sitting there being slow.😳
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFun35EqYbg
That red light on the left keeps flashing, which means he’s lagging behind his best lap. Too bad the footage is a total blur—can't tell exactly how much time he's losing.🤷
And he actually went and did it, too. Messing up the turn.Honestly, Kimi is definitely the one to blame here. Shame on him.

Kimi was running about 0.200 faster than his pre-session personal best... honestly, that’s probably why he was so pissed off at himself.😳
His best time was a 1:31.826, which means he’s likely looking at somewhere around a 1:31.600 or 1:31.700—maybe even faster.
He would've finished right behind Alonso if he hadn't spun out...
Staring at that green light and seeing -219 on the steering wheel display...
image

So, the rumor is that Red Bull wouldn't let Jenson Button go out and clock a faster lap than Sebastian Vettel or Mark Webber. Honestly, who cares? That lap time was light-years beyond anyone else anyway. Plus, everyone already knew Button was staring down a five-place grid penalty regardless.☕

Ferrari didn't have the pace to fight for anything better than sixth. At the end of the day, Kimi was the only one who actually lost out because of that pit stop... and maybe Jenson Button or Lewis Hamilton, assuming they even had any decent pace to begin with.
Maybe Perez and Grosjean walked away with something, but honestly? I wouldn't hold my breath. Who knows.
He probably would've been about 0.200 seconds faster. He just lost all that momentum hitting those chicanes, so he’d almost certainly be right where he is now.

If you ask me, Alonso’s still got it. He could have easily finished right behind Kimi.
Can't even find any decent stats on how Nico Hulkenberg used to run...

Jason Campbell70 said:Honestly, Alonso, Hamilton, Kobayashi, and Perez only have themselves to blame for being in Grosjean's way at the start of the GP Belgium. 🙄

It’s all the same crap. Back then, Alonso, Hamilton, Kobayashi, and Perez had their races ruined because of someone else's mistake.
Today, Alonso had his qualifying lap ruined because of someone else's mistake.

Those two things have zero to do with each other. ☕
It’s a completely different beast when a driver slams into someone and they crash out... versus when someone intentionally waits eight minutes to hit the track and misses their fast lap because of it...
Whether Alonso lost his qualifying lap himself or the team lost it for him (depending on who decided to wait until the end of qualifying), it has absolutely nothing to do with Kimi.
He had the same amount of time as everyone else, and he could've set the same time on track as the rest of them. ☕

What on earth does crashing into another driver have to do with someone driving off track? 🙄

Good grief, I might as well sit here rambling about how Heikki Kovalainen and Vergne are to blame because Sebastian Vettel isn't leading the championship. Because if they hadn't crashed, maybe there wouldn't have been an SC, maybe Vettel's alternator wouldn't have died...
Sure, that's great, but that alternator didn't die because of Kovalainen or Vergne—it died because of Renault, Red Bull, Marell, Vettel, or whoever... but it definitely wasn't because of Kovalainen and Vergne. ☕

Same logic would suggest it's Schumacher's or Nico Hulkenberg's fault that Hamilton couldn't dial in his car setup because they went off during practice. 😢
And if they hadn't, he would've had five extra minutes and surely would've nailed it. 👍

Roger Wright94 said:At least they say what's actually on their mind. Honestly, who even has the patience for hypocrites?

The real issue is his mindset. It’s all about his attitude. He just doesn't give a damn about anyone else. And for everything else.

That’s just how all F1 drivers are when they hit the final stretch.☕
Do you honestly think Alonso would give a damn about anyone else in that situation? Or any other F1 driver for that matter?🤣

It’s one thing if they just bluntly said, "I don't give a damn about anyone else," but instead they go with that fake, scripted nonsense like, "Oh, I'm just so incredibly sorry." It's pathetic. 😉
They aren't exactly saints, so why should they care about anyone else? They couldn't care less.
Apologizing is one thing, but let's be real—they wouldn't care if they actually had to do it.

It’s one thing when a driver slams into someone and ruins their entire race, but honestly, at the end of the day, none of these guys can blame anyone else. It's on them. If they had just put in a decent lap when they had the chance, we wouldn't be in this mess.☕

It could’ve been the track or the rain... in the end, it rained right after qualifying anyway.😉
Should we really be losing sleep over whether Kimi's pace matters now that it's pouring? Like, does it even matter that he set a faster dry time than everyone else earlier?

Pretty weird stuff... looks like Mass gave him a garbage set of tires.🤷

It’s actually wild that his time on the old rubber was 0.100 faster than on the new ones😕 and he missed out on The Fourth Quarter by a mere 0.022.😳

Though based on what he said, it sounds like he's stuck with just one pair of fresh yellows left.🤔

Mad respect to the Americans here.🙏
Seriously, the stands are still packed.😲

Who knows, maybe they're all just waiting on the qualifying results.🤣

Funny enough, they spent about three hours just debating whether Vettel might get a penalty.🙂

Ted says it was basically just a playground fight between Ferrari and Red Bull...

Glad I actually had some work to do today. Otherwise, I probably would've lost my mind over this too.🤣

Roger Wright94 said:Can someone give me a quick rundown of where things stand for tomorrow's start?
Is Jenson Button the only one sitting with a 5-place penalty?
Are both Saubers really starting ahead of Alonso? (That Sauber is a weird little thing).

One more thing—can anyone confirm if everyone from The Fourth Quarter who made the cut is starting on the exact same tire compound they used in qualifying? (Not just the same type, but the actual same set—having a heated debate over here).

Is there a breakdown somewhere showing who has what tires left for tomorrow?
Everyone definitely has two new hard sets, but how many actually have fresh softs?

http://www.formula1.com/results/season/2012/878/7101/
Looks like there might be more penalties coming...🤷

As for the tires, I haven't got a clue.🤷
As far as I know, nobody has fresh yellows except for Massa.🤔

Roger Wright94 said:No way. This is basically a dream scenario for Red Bull.

Honestly, nothing from Red Bull could ever really surprise me.😁
So yeah, I wouldn't be shocked at all if something like this happens...
2012 Japanese GP (Suzuka) - Oct 7th in Formula 1 ·
Fair point, I completely blanked on Grosjean and Kamui...

The real question is how Massa pulls this off. He’s staring down a wall that he shouldn't even be close to on this track...
So, honestly? It's a long shot for him to do it alone. He’d probably just end up one spot behind Alonso... though who knows where Alonso actually lands😳

And yeah, unless things go sideways with the tires, I don't see anyone posing any real threat to Vettel...
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if RB shoots itself in the foot again and some disaster involving Webber unfolds...
Everyone seems to have totally forgotten about him, but I have a feeling he could be a real wildcard in this race...
2012 Japanese GP (Suzuka) - Oct 7th in Formula 1 ·
Remember that old joke going around? That FOM only actually puts effort into the broadcast when they're at Indianapolis. 🤔
Feels like we're just dealing with some local director here.😁

If only they'd put this broadcast on every channel. 😉
2012 Japanese GP (Suzuka) - Oct 7th in Formula 1 ·
Felipe Massa is sitting in a killer spot right now...
He might actually have a shot at the podium—or even the win—if the tire degradation gets ugly out there...

He’ll definitely go with either two stops or three lightning-fast sprints...
Ferrari was the fastest car in the race simulations anyway, and Massa was leading the pack.😳

Gary Smith66 said:What can you even say about Vettel's shot at the title? Hamilton’s car is a wreck after last race, and today, everyone actually in the hunt is either facing penalties or had their qualifying totally trashed because of Kimi Räikkönen.🙏

If Lewis Hamilton's car hadn't crapped out on him, Alonso would've taken the win in Singapore.😁
If Kimi hadn't spun out, Alonso would've walked away with pole. 🙂
🤣🤣🤣

What does that even have to do with the points gap between Vettel and Alonso?😕
If Lewis Hamilton and Pastor Maldonado hadn't pulled out of Singapore, the gap might have been exactly the same—or maybe even smaller, depending on whether Vettel managed to overtake Hamilton or not.

If Kimi had actually been allowed to pull that lap without Jenson Button getting hit with a penalty, and if Lewis Hamilton had driven like his McLaren car was actually capable of performing, we probably would have seen an even bigger gap right at the start.
Let's face it: both McLaren and Lotus were faster than Ferrari today. Even Sauber was right up there, keeping pace with Ferrari.
So what if that actually happens? Big deal.

Gary Smith66 said:After Singapore, it’s pretty damn obvious who the refs are playing favorites for in this title fight. ☕

Man, I really like Kamui.😁

I’m crossing my fingers for some chaos on track tomorrow. If he can snag the win, maybe he actually has a shot at staying with Sauber.🙂

Video.

Personally, I don't think he deserves a penalty.

Well, it’s debatable...🤷
If this wasn't happening at a pole position, he almost certainly would've been penalized. Honestly, he should have moved to the right and slowed down completely.😳
Though, it doesn't look like Alonso lost any time there.🤷

It was pretty sketchy, and more about the track layout than an intentional move, but saying it was totally fine and harmless? Yeah, no way.
Weird that it didn't even come up on the broadcast😕 unless I just missed it.🤷

Jason Campbell70 said:And you? Did you actually watch qualifying?

Unlike some people, yeah, I did.☕

Alonso was about half a second slower than Massa in Q1, then he went back out for a second run.
In Q2, he was again roughly 0.3 seconds behind Massa before heading out again...

http://en.mclarenf-1.com/index.php?p...Felipe%20Massa

The thing is, we couldn't tell what tires he used during those second runs in Q1 and Q2...

But looking at the link, it's obvious he hit the track twice in Q1 (around laps 6-8) and twice in Q2 (laps 12-14).☕
It looks like he was on fresh yellows both times, which explains why he only pulled one fast lap in Q3.

People can talk all they want, but the reality is he messed up his own two laps in Q1 and Q2, and his decision to wait until the very end was just bad strategy...
It’s not exactly rocket science to realize things usually go sideways in the final minutes of a session...
US Grand Prix (Indianapolis) 10.07.2012 in Formula 1 ·
Grosjean basically got flagged because of Ocon, and I bet Webber is next on the list...
Koba is almost certainly getting hit too, probably for those yellow flags...

Honestly, it wouldn't even surprise me if they handed out penalties to everyone who set a fast lap in the Third Quarter, except for Alonso...☕
At this point, it feels like the grid has absolutely nothing to do with the actual qualifying results.
US Grand Prix (Indianapolis) 10.07.2012 in Formula 1 ·
4 out of 4 🙏😍

Third all-time for most pole positions 🙏🙏🙏

God, I'm annoyed that Fernando Alonso still ended up starting second or third at the end of this. 🙂
I’m just waiting for the FIA 🙄 to start handing out penalties left and right...
Jenson Button drops 5 spots, Romain Grosjean drops 5, Kamui Kobayashi drops 5, Sergio Perez drops 5... maybe even Mark Webber gets a 5-spot penalty too...

Roger Wright94 said:What the hell happened with Alonso in Q3?
Everyone else (some by a lot) improved their times in Q3 compared to Q2. Based on his Q2 pace, Alonso would've been starting 4th.
Wasn't he running Q3 on those old tires from Q2?

That single lap in Q3 is seriously giving me high blood pressure.

He was struggling for time in Q1 (pretty sure it was on the medium tires), then again in Q2 (probably more mediums 🤷)...

It's possible he didn't even have a fresh set for Q3.🤷

btw😁

FIA and FOM should provide live feed from stewards room, where #F1 action really happens these days.

🤣🤣🤣

Says @kamui_kobayashi: "I’m a little bit worried I have Grosjean next to me. I am good friend. But, you know, make sure."

Fear is a good thing if you actually have it.🙏🤣
