Why is there such a "God complex" among doctors? in Psychology ·
First off, to those claiming a hypochondriac can provide a better diagnosis than a medical professional: feel free to seek your medical advice and treatment plans from that hypochondriac or some herbalist in the woods. There are far too many people on this planet ☕

The whole subject is a total facepalm, but I’m actually interested in something else:

Reading through this thread and others on the forum, one could conclude that for us Americans:

a.) all doctors are arrogant hacks
b.) all economists are incompetent and overabundant
c.) all professors are equally useless and responsible for the failure of our education system
d.) all lawyers are overpriced and condescending
e.) all politicians are corrupt and crooked...

So now I’m curious—what exactly is considered a desirable or noble profession in the USA? In other words, what should a person do to be accepted as a "normal" member of society here? A waiter, a flooring specialist 😕 (to be clear, I’m not devaluing those jobs, just throwing out ideas)

quietdriver3 said:Indiana Jones, obviously. I just wish they'd split them up into a trilogy and then a fourth one, I guess. 🙂

I'm siding with the beaver + Goonies (purely emotional reasons 😍 ) and Treasure of SM (which is primarily a great film about human greed)

EDIT: Just realized I missed Good Los and Evil 🙂
I always seem to overlook something in these polls 😬

🤣 I suspect the guy is trolling us. He actually clarified his stance in the comments: no politics. just messing with politics

It isn't American, but it is Mexican 😬

TT Syndrome (2002)

I haven't seen it myself, though word is it’s actually quite good 🤷

Yes 😁
restlesscobra11 said:though I assume you get my drift

Not really. What exactly do you mean when you claim their psychological traits are identical? 😕

something like Krleža's Glembay family (I don't think there's been a serious film adaptation of them yet)

I actually think this one was reasonably serious

Good grief, The Family, you aren't a woman—there's no need to hide your age. 🙄 😬

I mean, not that I care, but clearly, we need this data for the survey. ☕
If I may add one more thought, it would be wonderful if we could include an absolutely benign, non-controversial feel-good movie in the mix. Something along the lines of Amélie or Chocolate.

Judging by the films we've seen so far, it seems we're even more depressed than the FINs.👎
a.) I'm looking for a high-quality historical drama that weaves together the lives of individuals across several generations through various political regimes (WWII - the Era of Socialism - the American Civil War - a Harmon-esque era). It should demonstrate that regardless of which faction holds power in this country, the misfit always gets screwed over—something in the vein of Szabin Sonnenshine.

b.) Works inspired by Susan B. Anthony (perhaps something old-school like Price) but reimagined with a twisted, dark aesthetic—think Tim Burton or Del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth.

Age - 26 years greeting

Cheers, and good luck with your research.🙂

I felt compelled to mention another excellent film on this subject:

The Wave 👍

Signed. I love this movie. 😍

Ronald Morales51 said:It’s probably worth mentioning *The Class* as well, since it hasn't been covered yet.

I have to admit, I’m a bit surprised here. briskhound2 hasn't really had any major slip-ups in the polls before. 😛

The Chorus

Let's be clear: we’re talking about an orphanage here, not a school.

P.S. I'd also add... Boston Public It’s a TV series. Honestly, it leans a bit too much into that teen drama vibe, but it's actually pretty well-made. Even if you aren't into that genre, it's definitely worth checking out just for Jeri Ryan and Sharon Leal. 🙂

I’ve never once referred to him by the third channel name.
For some reason, I’ve always just called him FOX.

I was actually able to compare it to those other old partisan war movies—they’re doing a whole marathon of them on NBC right now—and honestly? Most of those classics like Battle of the Bulge or similar stuff felt like they were just cardboard ideological constructs... but Vrdoljak's film? It's made of blood and bone. A real movie...

Sadly, you won't see this one on NBC, though, because Vrdoljak basically pulled strings to make sure it stays off the air...

Since when? 😕
As far as I recall, it aired on NBC about two or three years ago.

Here are a few more oddities for your consideration:

I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meat Hook, and Now I Have a Three-Picture Deal at Disney (Believe it or not, the director is actually Ben Affleck)
Zombie Ninja Gangbangers
The Absolutely Outrageous Adventures of the Politically Incorrect Bikini Babes of Arizona
Surf Nazis Must Die
Jesus Christ - Vampire Hunter
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians

David Price5 said:I recently acquired a vintage 1990 motorcycle that feels almost supernatural. It has this dark, magnetic pull to it that reminds me of an old horror film. I am quite thrilled with the purchase.
I recently revisited Samurai Vampire Bikers from Hell (1992). It was quite a nostalgic trip down memory lane!
I caught a screening of *Blade* recently. It was quite an energetic experience. I remember seeing similar action flicks back in my college days in Chicago, and they always provided such a spirited escape.

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) is a masterpiece. It remains a brilliant satire on the Cold War.

I had just started typing when—well, David beat me to the punch. 😁

I’d also throw in
Lesbian Vampire Killers,
Alice doesn't live here anymore,
The Man Who Wasn't There,
The short film about killing,
Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia,

and one more brief but powerful one: Kick-Ass. 👍
Ethan Howard45 said:Personally, I think the real issue is that cities like Miami, Indianapolis, and Seattle lack that kind of cinema, whereas the situation in Washington, D.C. has never been better..

Well, Miami still has the Zlatna vrata Cinema. Sure, it’s not a dedicated Art House Cinema, but they offer more than just classics; their Art programming is actually quite decent.
+ It was recently renovated, though I haven't had the chance to check it out since the remodel 🙂

Did you honestly expect anything more from this movie😕?
briskhound2 said:, the pacing of the action beats feels more intentional (I mean, you need a spectacular climax for any decent movie).

That’s exactly my point 😁

The action sequences in DK felt cluttered to me; it’s like they were trying way too hard, jumping straight into fifth gear from the jump...
The result: instead of actually enjoying them, I was bored by them almost immediately after the film started.

And don't even get me started on Batman's voice 🤦

If it wasn't for the late Ledger, who knows if this movie would have been hailed as such a masterpiece 🤷

Hail to Batman Begins 🙏
