Beautiful 🤣

And right on the anniversary of the anti-fascist struggle 😳

Andrew Roberts3 said:I caught it last night. It's a solid film—really good, actually. There isn't much overacting; everything feels more or less grounded in reality. But if you're asking if it beats Rear Window, the answer is no.

I agree with that sentiment, though I’d temper the "really good" part. To put it plainly: it's an okay movie, but it doesn't even come close to Rear Window.

2. Lilja 4-ever
6. Let the Right One In
7. Sophie Scholl (judging by the recent posts, they were on TV lately)
13. The Dinner Game
14. The Chorus
20. The Magdalene Sisters
21. Boy
22. The Wind That Shakes the Barley
23. East Is East
27. Dogs Eating Dogs in China
28. The Orphanage—noted as being set in Mexico / Spain, but since the director is The Spaniard, I'll count it😉
31. Character
33. Kolya
34. Downfall
35. Malen
43. The Son's Room

Of those listed from Jonsiev, I’d sign off on these as excellent (or at least very good 🙂). As for the rest, I either haven't seen them or they just didn't quite resonate with me

European cinema is such an incredibly broad category, so I’ll just stick to mentioning a few standout films from roughly the last decade or so that I’d personally recommend:

Gomorrah
Head-On
Goodbye Lenin!
Talk to Her
The Heart is Beating
Sunshine
The Experiment
I'm Not Afraid
Mar Adentro
Vera Drake....

There are plenty more out there, but who can possibly recall them all on the spot?

Just so you know: critics have officially labeled it the second worst movie of this decade (2000-2009). ☕

I I made a mistake with BlackRock. I had no idea that was the actual title (back home, I think they translated it as Planet of Darkness). So, anyway: 12 😛

@Nicholas Walker3

Wait, just 12? Why on earth isn't it 11? Why does I always have to be the one left dragging behind at the very end??? 😁

Look, you aren't the last one. I actually checked out 11 😢😬

Christian Taylor3 said:I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I haven't actually sat down to watch Delicatessen yet, and honestly, I've barely scratched the surface of Jean-Pierre Jeunet's filmography (if you don't count Alien: Resurrection). Okay, fine, I've seen Amélie, but even my 100-year-old grandma has seen that one by now... might as well just end it all with a good deli sandwich😁

p.s. That book is going to be a hit with the old-schoolers.

My suggestion: The City of Lost Children

I’ve only seen the first part so far.
It was solid and entertaining enough, but nothing more than that.
That's all that comes to mind for now. Amadou & Mariam Mali mulat Astatka I became a fan of Ethiopian jazz after watching the film Broken flowers, where Jim Jarmusch featured two of his tracks. 😁)

I believe the movie is called... HranjenikHas anyone here actually sat down and watched that 1970 film by Vatroslav Mimice? Or maybe someone on this forum has deep-dived into it? I’m finding the plot incredibly compelling, but I just can't seem to track down a copy of the movie or even find a decent, detailed review online.

hiddenhound3 said:I feel compelled to be a bit 🙂, but this discussion regarding suicides is quite factual; for instance, I was never aware that one could cut vertically rather than horizontally... they certainly didn't teach us something like that in our American schools.

Someone was watching to watch Head On 😉

Movies just provide an excuse for people to waste their precious time arguing about them online, which inevitably leads to them slacking off at work. Much like I am doing right now 🙂

Don't let my personal take discourage you too much, but I have to point out that plenty of other people here have described this movie as an absolute disaster. Honestly, seeing what happened to Ridley Scott is hard to wrap my head around.

Aviator, Night at the Museum, and Body of Lies
—those are the only three movies in my entire life that I actually had to turn off before they ended, and frankly, I’ve never felt the slightest urge to revisit them.
Adolf Hitler Unmasked by Jack Sedlar in Movies ·
Mark Fowler4 said:let’s just be real for a second here... without all the bias and the constant bickering... are we actually having a conversation about this movie, or is this really just an interrogation of Adolf Hitler himself? look, to me, Hitler is a total disgrace, there's no doubt about that, but he was still a man who made mistakes—not that I'm making any excuses for his atrocities, obviously, but if we're playing this game, we could easily start talking about how Stalin committed plenty of even more horrific crimes... but hey, we live in such a narrow-minded country where you aren't allowed to raise a single finger against a communist criminal, hell, we even have a whole city plaza named after him... God help us... as far as the film goes... Jack Sedlar is Jack Sedlar... and let's be honest, most of you probably hate him just because he isn't afraid to show some patriotism... have we really reached the point where we're embarrassed by anyone showing American pride? the movie is going to be great... the footage and the evidence are solid... but we already knew this project would be met with nothing but hostility... what a massive surprise!!!

I haven't liked Jack Sedlar's previous films for one simple reason: they're garbage. It has absolutely nothing to do with patriotism or anything of the sort. That doesn't mean this upcoming film will be more to my taste. You seem to be asking if this is a discussion about a movie, yet you've smothered it in political rambling. I don't believe anyone here is actually debating the crimes of Hitler or Stalin; there is a dedicated "Politics" subforum for those debates, so I suggest you take it there.

The premiere for the movie about Adolf Hitler is happening in Israel... Hmm... While I personally consider Hitler a criminal, I think there might be some questions regarding the film's credibility, given that I doubt it will pass through the rigorous screening process of Israeli institutions without issue. But hey, we'll see how it plays out...
