Did Josip Broz Marshall really have $2 billion? in Close to Politics ·
And who’s going to argue that the former dictator wasn't Franjo Harmon?
Should we introduce a new alphabet? in Close to Politics ·
Honestly, anyone who actually gives this kind of thing any serious thought has got to be on something heavy...

What do you mean, "adaptation"??!! Our language is our identity! It’s ours to use however we want... I mean, what would people even say if they had to deal with all those extra marks and accents over letters like (l, t, etc.)? It just doesn't make sense.

Should we just stick to English instead? It might be easier to get our point across without any confusion...

Or hey, we could just switch to English now and kill two birds with one stone...

Social Security Number (SSN) in Close to Politics ·
Okay... maybe I’m just being dense and missing the point you all are making here...

Let's say this new tax ID is just another number. In what way is it actually better than our old Social Security numbers? If we were to hypothetically phase one out—purely as a thought experiment, since we all know you couldn't even breathe without an SSN back in the day, and the government trusted that number implicitly—and introduce a second one, wouldn't we probably just end up needing both anyway?

And as for that branded stuff—honestly, I've always been more of a banana person...

One more thing... and again, call me slow if you want... I know you guys are the true patriots and the real deal, while I'm just some clueless citizen who doesn't quite measure up to your level. But I'm struggling to see how introducing this new ID (which anyone could read just as easily as an SSN) is actually going to stop corruption or any of those other issues the politicians keep talking about?

So, I think I finally have proof that everything is officially falling apart here!

Yesterday, I got one of those yellow slips saying I had to pick something up at the local Post Office. My first thought was, "Oh great, it's probably that new Social Security ID update" (see title...). So, I head down there, walk up to the counter, say hi, hand over my slip, and the clerk goes to the back to grab an envelope for me. As she’s walking back, I notice right away that the envelope has these two little clear plastic windows on it.... I sign for it, walk out, and take a look at the mail.... and boy, was I SHOCKED!!!

Basically, on the larger clear window, my full name and home address are printed perfectly clearly, and then on the smaller window, there's just a number sitting there.... I immediately suspected it was my SSN, but I figured, nah, there's no way.... they told us this was a sensitive personal number, private and top secret and all that jazz.... so there's no way they'd display it like that!.... I open the letter, double-check everything... and sure enough, it's true!!

I mean, seriously, what kind of idiot decides to print a Social Security number so that anyone can see it through a window?!!!

If someone hasn't stolen my identity yet, they definitely could have done it without breaking a sweat by now.... all they had to do was stand near my (or anyone else's) mail and just read it..... they could have grabbed everything they needed (and probably everything that would end up on official documents) — my FULL address, my name, and my ENTIRE Social Security number!!!!

It's not even that we're in trouble, it's more like the trouble is being built from the ground up by our own mistakes!!
Best bowling alleys in the Tri-State area? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I guess that's how it works... or at least, I think that's the deal... but from what I understand, you have to be a club member just to step onto the lanes. Personally, I’d love it if they had something more casual, where you could just show up, pay for a single game or an hour of lane time, and then just roll with it.

I’m leaning towards bowling because it doesn't seem too intimidating... well, maybe except for picking out the right ball 🙂... since traditional bowling requires a lot more practice and precision when it comes to your aim...

Does anyone happen to know if there are any good spots to go bowling in or around the city?

Ideally, I’m looking for a real bowling alley—you know, the kind with those heavy balls, finger holes, and the standard pin setup 🙂—but honestly, even just some casual bumpers or something similar would be fine.

Thanks! 😁

Wait, I think this might actually be plagiarism!

Do you even hold the copyrights to this? Did you buy them or something? Seriously?

I might just have to sue you for this one!

Sean Cox48 said:Yeah, okay, I'll admit the Republican Party kids mess up sometimes too. They get hammered at some bar, cause a scene, and then end up getting kicked out of the party or facing legal trouble. But then you look at the Democratic Party youth, and they're at these parties singing songs about Marshall and America, getting totally trashed, and... well, let's just say things get pretty physical with everyone involved, whether they want to or not. I guess you could say there are actually some differences between them after all.🤣

You've got a point there!

It feels like the Democrats mostly just fight amongst themselves, while the Republicans tend to go after everyone else—whether it's through shouting matches or actual fighting...

And honestly, for the millionth time now... I really don't care for either side. I personally feel like we just don't have the right kind of people to actually build something high-quality here in America, but that doesn't mean we should let these incompetent groups stay in power indefinitely... regardless of whether they are blue, red, or any other color...

I’d say about half of that 7% probably just went straight into envelopes via under-the-table deals... 😁
Personally, I think the best move is to let Forbes dig into this. Out of everyone who got caught, the only ones actually feeling the heat are the college students. The big players? They haven't even broken a sweat. It makes sense, though, considering how the people in power basically paved the way for their own kids to breeze through university. I remember watching this one guy from the state university economics department on the news one night; he was giving this statement along the lines of, "Everything turned out exactly as it should because I'm an honest man," while clearly struggling to stay upright. He was practically leaning on a lamp post to keep from falling over, looking completely wasted—eyes glassy and his face flushed bright red.

Honestly, it’s just typical of how things work here... if these guys aren't up to the task, then who is? I mean, I really don't care! Just swap them out until you find someone better... even if that means doing it every single month! If they actually knew their jobs were on the line, both sides would start acting a bit more sensible. But instead, they know people think they're doing a bad job, yet they also know nobody's actually going to replace them.

Personally, I’d vote out the Republican Party right now... and then, if the Democrats don't show some real progress after maybe three months, I don't know, maybe bring in some independent candidates after half a year. That might actually make them smarten up, believe me. But the way things are currently going, they won't. They know they're safe and they just don't care while $200,000 keeps rolling in every month, so they can just do whatever they want.

boldgardener272 said:Cigarettes shouldn't be your benchmark. The price ought to be $17 high enough that if someone actually wants them, they can pay up..

If you look at the post right above yours... I mentioned that earlier...

But just to address your point—would you say the same thing about traffic tickets? Because that follows the same "if you want to risk it, pay up" logic too, I guess...

I only mentioned cigarettes because they were the first thing that popped into my head... they aren't really the most important part of this at all...
Why are you guys still voting Republican? in Close to Politics ·
Welcome to the real world... I guess this is just how we Americans are... like people say, we basically handed over our souls to whoever is leading us; you could do just about anything to us and we’d just stay quiet... take cigarette prices, for example—they're some of the highest in the Western world right now...

That’s why all our bright minds head overseas... and not just to join a diaspora, but to actually move away for good... and you only ever hear about them when they make it big...
The rest of them, whether it’s your buddy, your neighbor, or whoever else... it always boils down to shouting "down with the Democrats"... even though half of those same people probably bought their houses or apartments back in the day using loans from the old regime that they paid off for next to nothing... maybe just a few thousand bucks...

Honestly, you've got a real problem here!!!

The fact that you just polished off an entire box of pills really shows how mature you are and how much "deep thinking" you're doing. I mean, are you even thinking at all?...
