Anyone actually hitting up the show at the local arena, or am I just flying solo here? It’s wild—every single person I bring them up to has zero clue who they are... Either everyone's too young or they just haven't broken through the mainstream here yet, I guess.

I've had their latest album on heavy rotation for weeks now, but honestly, I've been following them since way back in 2009 when I first heard "Death"—man, that track was everything. I didn't dive deep after that—maybe caught a song from the ritual album here and there—until Big TV dropped, which totally hooked me. Still think it's their absolute best studio work to this day.

And it’s been happening for a while now... Like, seriously, why?
I'm hunting for a BØA "Prvi Val" CD—or maybe one of those compilations from '92 or 2004. Anyone got leads?
Anyone know how the payment situation works at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival? Can I just use any contactless card—like one from JPMorgan Chase—or am I stuck needing a specific one from Bank of America?
Random side question—can you actually bring a bike into the venue? I haven't hit up any major festivals yet, so who knows, right?
http://www.nytimes.com/article/death-cab-for-cutie-review.aspx

I’ve tried listening to all those bands people compare them to, but Death Cab for Cutie? Never really my vibe—no matter how many times I gave them a shot. And after reading this review, it sounds like they’re basically just hanging on by a thread at this point... so, yeah. Just another example of an act playing Coachella. On the flip side, totally loved the Florence + The Machine piece (check out the other review). Hmm.
rustyharbor2 said:they’re handing out Allstate vouchers—I went down to an Allstate branch, handed them the voucher, and after like 15 days, I finally got that paypass card with $33 on it. once you have it, those $33 can be spent pretty much anywhere you want...

So who's actually giving these away? Is it the crew at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival when you grab a ticket?
rustyharbor2 said:Casey Ramos78 - what kind of $100, you redeem a vaučer and end up paying $77 for a festival pass... honestly, sounds worth it if you're trying to see Placebo 🙂

A vaučer? How does that even work?
This is honestly such a drag—bringing them in as part of a whole festival lineup... I've been dying to catch Placebo for years, seriously, huge fan, but it feels so stupid to drop $100 just for one set. I couldn't care less about the rest of the festival...

He could probably afford to be a little more flexible with the setlist—especially when he's playing territories he doesn't hit all that often—which is what most other acts actually do. But hey, this is Morrissey... as long as he's happy, right?👎

I honestly don't get this whole setlist—like, how does Throwing My Arms Around Paris even fit in there? And those other two are just so-so for me—Smiler with Knife and Kick the Bride down the Aisle I'm Not.

Also, hmmm—feels like he’s gearing up to give us some lecture on all those "deep" existential crises facing modern Americans... but honestly? I’d rather just dance to some old Morrissey—doesn't even have to be The Smiths... there are so many killer upbeat tracks... Billy Bud, Sister I'm a Poet, November Spawned, Sing Your Life, etc., etc.

I get what you're saying—but there's a massive difference between a greatest hits tour and a run like this, where they're actually pushing the new stuff. There are a few tracks I’m dying to hear that just aren't making the cut: November..., Ouija Board, Interesting Drug... plus about a third of the Your Arsenal album (which I'm still waiting on to arrive from Amazon), and then some newer ones like I'm Not Sorry and I Have Forgiven Jesus... But hey, all things considered, the setlist still has plenty of bangers.

Been spinning this new album (out this July!) non-stop lately—I'm totally hooked. There are some seriously killer tracks on here. Gotta admit though, I just couldn't get into the last one—Rewind the Film—nearly as much...

Just heard this one—imagine life to the rhythm of dance music, it’s giving me such strong "You Can Leave Your Hat On" vibes.

I honestly struggle to find any real flaws on *Everything Must Go*—maybe two tracks at most, if you count "Small Black Flowers" and "No Surface All Feeling." That's about it.

Karen Phillips21 said:I honestly don't get why everyone decides Gold Dust is their worst album?

Personally, I think it's great—just like all of them! Every record hits different. Maybe I'm being biased—especially with the older stuff—but I actually loved that one...

I mean, Gold Dust has classics like The Sorrow and Roses in the Hospital... I seriously can't imagine the Manics without those tracks...

Though... lately I've just been stuck in a phase of listening to nothing but the B-sides at work...

Btw... their peak was definitely before Richeytek disappeared, back when they were just out there having a blast (true—some more than others...)—like seeing Nick dressed up like some hellish maid. 🙂 Ugh... why did they have to grow up?

I ended up thinking Gold Dust was one of the weaker ones too after actually sitting down with it—even though my experience was mostly limited to Postcards from a Young Man, Send Away The Tigers (which was my first exposure and totally underrated in my book), and Everything Must Go.

If you're looking for a starting point, I’d recommend Everything Must Go to everyone; it's packed with heavy hitters, and even the deep cuts can hold their own against the singles.

Casey Ramos78 said:Is it just me, or does the new—well, upcoming—album sound kind of trash? It feels over-produced and too pop—like they're just chasing catchy choruses without any actual substance behind the instruments. I’m honestly dreading the day this thing actually drops. First it was Coldplay, now it's Coldplay, and I always liked Coldplay better anyway... I mean, Under The Iron Sea is a straight-up masterpiece. Idk, feels like music has just gone downhill lately.

I can't believe I actually typed that out! Total first impression fail right there. I saw them live in Vienna and it actually made me an even bigger fan—and yeah, I was definitely screaming every single lyric. Tom’s got a killer voice, so they sound just as good live as they do on the records. Honestly, Coldplay should be embarrassed; they aren't even in the same league.

Is it just me, or is this upcoming album sounding absolute trash? It’s all over-produced pop nonsense—just chasing catchy choruses without any actual substance behind the instruments. Honestly, I’m dreading the day it actually drops. First Coldplay let me down, and now it looks like Coldplay too... and man, I always preferred them over Coldplay. *Under The Iron Sea* is a straight-up masterpiece. Just heard Little Lies on the radio earlier 🙂 Honestly, I’ve been spinning Rumours by Fleetwood Mac—really digging it, especially Go Your Own Way. Such a total 70s rock classic, right?

Honestly, she’s been my absolute favorite lately—but let's be real, it's just a cover of that classic by The Mamas and the Papas. Still, they totally nail it... pretty killer stuff.

The album The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place is pure genius—everyone needs to hear it at least once. 🙏 That's my whole take, now we can all just ignore this thread for the next six years. 😁

Well, looks like you've got an ally here. Honestly, maybe the best post-rock/ambient record I've ever laid ears on.

Now we can ignore this thread for the next 6 years (or 2, considering how much time is left before the apocalypse hits) 😁
