bluecanyon643 said:That’s exactly what I was getting at. I got banned because I was calling out stupid comments—not even being insulting or anything. Plus, I had a front-row seat to some pretty primitive mob mentality going on.

Look, if you caught a ban over on the Zapatistas board, I can't say I'm surprised. 😁
bluecanyon643 said:Yeah, the double standards drive me crazy—seriously. Hypocrisy just gets under my skin. It sucks when a potentially fun, joking topic turns into this huge parade of people being overly sensitive.

You’re missing the point about double standards. A double standard is when certain users get a free pass for things others aren't allowed to do. Celebrities mentioned here have zero bearing on anything—especially not on the rules regarding double standards on this forum. The only time you aren't supposed to insult a public figure is when that "public figure" is actually a fellow user you're debating with. Does that logic make sense?
bluecanyon643 said:Well, if that's the case, then fine. 😬

Basically, this whole thread is about how the mods just tolerate blatant nonsense.
I mean, if Goran bara shows up to a live CNN broadcast wasted, talking absolute garbage and being offensive—then yeah, calling him out is totally fair.

But if that same guy wears a jacket you don't like? I don't think so.

Look, Goran bara is gonna be an idiot, a jerk, and a total loser even if he saves a school bus full of kids from drowning.

But seriously—why do negative comments and straight-up roasting public figures bother you so much? I’m asking for real here, no trolling intended. I just don't get it. What exactly are you hoping to achieve by insisting that every single opinion or comment needs to be backed by hard facts? I don't know about you, but I'm perfectly happy just going with my gut feeling.
Nah, you’re probably gonna end up getting banned for being disrespectful—because honestly, you're just being way too sweet and soft to realize there's a massive difference between a regular forum user and a public figure. 😁
What do you even call public figures when calling them a total wreck feels way too mild? Take someone like Goran bara, for instance. 🤷
Don't you dare mess with ŽK—seriously! It’s basically the only subforum where you can actually post without having to shove a broom up your ass first.

I've seen better posts from you, honestly.

The hypocrisy really gets to me. You clearly haven't actually read my posts. ☕

That ban from a few years back just tells you exactly what kind of people we were dealing with. That's it.

I don't know about you, but I still remember when this subreddit was called Messages, Wishes, Comments. 🤷

Between the constant screw-ups by bad admins and mods, the old US-based community has basically turned into garbage. It's honestly pretty sad when you stop to think about it and remember how this place used to be.

The way the current admins run things is just a carbon copy of how the previous ones did.

Those ancient versions are running because they haven't upgraded from prehistoric XP to anything modern yet. Honestly, we can all agree—when an OS is over a decade old, using its built-in browser today is basically like using a glorified trash can—even if you've got the latest patches installed. Why people cling to XP is a whole different conversation, but it’s just wrong to bash someone by saying, "Oh, you use IE, that's why you got scammed on Facebook," or some other nonsense.

I've been hanging out on forums using IE without AdBlock for years and haven't fallen for a single thing—not that I'd ever tell anyone they're stupid just because they got tricked.
I only call people out when they're actually talking nonsense. 😬

I honestly thought this was just more old-school IE bashing. 😛

ambermason16 said:Look, experience has shown you guys can't even moderate a single thread—like the one mentioned above—or handle a simple PDF, yet somehow you still have the nerve to flaunt those admin titles while collecting a paycheck.

That’s what "experience" has taught me.

I have to strongly disagree with that take.

In my experience, it's been clear that the absolute best admins this site ever had were Vienna and Mr. Dog. Everyone else was just spinning their wheels—the only difference was how much they were struggling. Now, the current duo isn't perfect, but compared to the previous guy? They’re a breath of fresh air.

It’s obvious to me that you’re just sticking up for your buddy (if I even want to get into that...) whenever you get the chance, especially since you're clearly annoyed by how he was replaced. You were his sidekick when he was an admin, and you're still acting like his sidekick now. What really misses the mark here is trying to pass off your personal and family ties as the only valid way to run things. History has shown that hiring based on who you know or family connections almost always backfires—it kills the quality of the forum and ruins the whole vibe.

I’ve been hanging around this forum since 2003—can you believe that?—and honestly, I haven't said a word until now. 😬

Elizabeth Davis said:..., but I didn't even bother installing AdBlock until people on this forum suggested it because the ads here are just brutal...

You really have to love the irony of it all.

The whole site runs on ad revenue—yet we've got users and mods telling each other to download software specifically designed to block those very ads. 😁

Axel, you’re starting to sound like a total blowhard. 😢

Look, people just didn't have AdBlock installed to stop those forum ads from being absolute garbage. There's really no need to twist the argument back to that old "it's either adblock or the ads" debate—we both know you already have the answer to that one, don't you? 😉

Oh man, you guys... I’m definitely going to end up trekking all the way down to a local Chase branch just to pay for my online services. 😁

You were talking about donating to keep the site running—that’s different. This is about paying the actual membership fee. Plus, both transactions clearly show which account or card was used. 🤷

northerncyclist2 said:If they need more revenue, why hasn't anyone suggested a premium membership for maybe a few dozen bucks a year? You know—get a 1,000-message inbox, fewer ads, a decent-sized avatar, and a bigger signature? Just my 2 cents.

I actually pitched an idea like this over a decade ago! I guess it’s just too much work and too much of a headache for them.

Though, looking back at how things have changed, I'm actually liking the idea less and less lately. Not because it’s a bad idea or impossible to build—not at all—but because paying for stuff totally kills user anonymity. Someone would have to verify payments and link them to accounts, which means you really need someone you can trust implicitly. I don't know about you, but looking at the current staff and everyone from the last few years, I only really trust Axmi. I wouldn't trust the rest of them with a spare brick, let alone my private data.

Honestly, I think it's those exact data points that cause the biggest headaches for site owners. If everything is free, they can basically stop stressing about backups and security since users aren't leaving anything valuable in their DMs or posts anyway. But if you introduce paid memberships, you'd actually have to step up the security and data storage. And that? That costs money and effort. It’s way easier to just sit here and shrug whenever we hit those annoying 503 and 504 errors. Just pretend everything is fine! 🎉
This is honestly such a mess—it’s pretty obvious that William Gonzalez3 is our next admin, isn't it? 🙏
Are you actually a clone of Rambo? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Honestly, comparing people on this forum to characters like Rambo is just insulting—it’s a straight-up insult to the members themselves, don't you think? And if you ask me, that kind of disrespect should definitely be penalized. Just my two cents. ☕
