I'm looking for some GPU advice (given which sub I'm posting in, it's pretty obvious...) So, basically, I'm hunting for the cheapest AGP card out there that actually has an HDMI port and won't totally choke when paired up with my Intel Celeron D 2.2 GHz—and hey, don't come for me if I've got the specs wrong, I'm not entirely sure if that's even what this processor is called. Anyway, I just need it to handle 1080p video playback so I can hook it up to a Full HD TV.
Doesn't matter if it's brand new, used, or if you just want to drop a hint about a specific model so I can go hunt it down myself...
My brother's dealing with the exact same headache at his place—he’s trying to pull a Wi-Fi signal from the upstairs floor through the ceiling and he's just relying on whatever crappy built-in card his laptop came with... but honestly, my take is that pretty much any decent external card is going to do the trick... just grab one of those two you were looking at... if things still act up you can always just pick up a separate antenna and hook it up later... though I really don't think you'll even need to go that route...
Are you actually looking for serious range here, or is this just about grabbing a decent signal from the Wi-Fi Alliance router sitting in the next room over? If it’s the latter, honestly, you could probably just pick up whatever is on sale...
edit: though, I guess you can't really go wrong with something like Linksys...
Since I'm already hanging out in this thread, I might as well hijack it for a second and ask for some advice myself. I'm hunting for a USB wireless adapter with an external antenna—and I want to pair it with some absolute beast of a antenna that I can plug right into it... I'm talking maximum possible coverage!!!
Hmm, I feel like nailing the timing on those lyrics is actually a massive headache, maybe I’m just tripping and that software handles it perfectly...
I’ve put together this huge collection of MP3 Karaoke tracks—everything from pop to rock—but when it comes to the classic American standards I usually just stick to MIDI files, which you can find a ton of all over the web if you bother to look...
They’ve got their own proprietary format too, and you actually have to pay up for individual tracks... doesn't exactly scream "premium experience" to me...
I mean, can you even find stuff in that specific format on torrent sites?
So, if you’re sitting there with an MP3 file and a matching .cdg file, you're basically gonna need a CDG plugin for Winamp to make anything happen. I know there are a handful of them floating around out there—honestly, I can't even remember which specific one I ended up installing on my own rig back in the day...
I don't even know where to start with this one—it's just... yeah. Just a total mess. Like, you think you have a handle on things, right? You think you've got the roadmap laid out, everything is clicking, and then—bam—reality hits you like a freight train in downtown Chicago. It’s that feeling of staring at a blank screen or a broken engine and realizing you might have been looking at it all wrong from the jump. Anyway, I'm just rambling now. My bad. What was I saying? Oh, right. Yeah. Just... yeah. shadowviper12 says: If you're trying to send something over to a phone, just make sure it's an MP4—though honestly, AVI should work just fine too. It’s kind of like when you're trying to plug a USB into a laptop; if the format isn't right, the whole thing just stalls out, you know? Just stick to those two and you shouldn't have any headaches.
Sadly, no luck there. My old Motorola RAZR just doesn't have the chops to handle an avi container... turns out tech moves way faster than I do sometimes—total bummer.
I'm done. Finally.I think I might have missed something there—you just sent a single letter! If you were trying to ask me something or if you want me to take a crack at rewriting some text, just toss it my way. I'm ready when you are. Thinking about getting something for my phone... maybe? I don't know, just staring at the screen thinking there might be something worth picking up.😉
I don't want to start a whole new thread here, but... which one of these converters actually handles MP4 exports (you know, for my phone) while also giving me the option for hard coded subtitles??
And just when they finally decide to drop a top-tier series —they go ahead and completely wreck the scheduling... that’s just how they roll--so they basically ruined Scrubs forever for the entire American public 😂 👎
I honestly don't think you can compare Swedish sage to something like "colloidal silver"....
If you check out the "edge of science" subforum, there’s actually a whole thread dedicated to that silver stuff...
To me, Swedish sage feels more like a blend of medicinal herbs—and I'm pretty sure it couldn't hurt you if you tried—but ingesting silver (which is a heavy metal, let's be real) just doesn't sit right with me...
back to the main point... I haven't quite figured out my game plan for the pests yet—right now I'm basically just playing it safe, sleeping soundly while they go about their business autonomously, but I'm too nervous to stop the treatment just yet... I haven't reached out to any actual pros to get an opinion...
These photos of bedbug bites look pretty much spot-on compared to mine... honestly, maybe we're looking at some kind of mysterious little creature here...
But anyway, let's get to the real question—how do you actually kill them?? I've been browsing through a few sites and all I'm finding is that they are incredibly hard to get rid of... 👎
Sophia Nguyen said:It’s probably itching... which means you need to boil all your clothes and bedding. Slather yourself in Benzyl benzoate twice a day for five days, waiting about 20 minutes between applications. For anything you can't toss in the wash, just leave it out to air out for two to three weeks. I dealt with those little bastards a few months back. Doctors kept sending me for endless tests—allergy panels, this, that—only to eventually point me toward a skin fungus analysis. And there they are, digging tiny channels into the top layer of your skin, keeping you wide awake all night long. Just thinking about it drives me crazy; I'm still pissed about dealing with incompetent doctors and everything I had to endure because they couldn't get it right the first time. 😠
Thanks for trying to help, but since I actually went through my own ordeal with the itching and the Benzyl Benzoate I can say for sure that's not what we're dealing with here...
quiethound45 said:Professional exterminators handle this stuff—pest control, disinfection, etc. Or, more simply put, they're the people who come in and spray apartments to deal with various bugs (mostly cockroaches and moths) and fight off infestations. 😬 Technically, it falls under "DDD," which includes deodorizing, though most people just call it DDD, and things like scenting or refreshing a room aren't applied all that often anymore. 🙂
Could they just be regular mosquitoes or gnats (those tiny black or sand-colored flies that also bite and sting—though I doubt they'd fly up this high since they don't have much of a range)? Maybe try using a mosquito repellent plug-in?
Man, I thought you were talking about that specific poison😁 like you were suggesting I just blast my whole room with it...🤣 I was sitting here thinking, man, it's either that or a heavy-duty vacuum...
Nah, they aren't some kind of flying monsters because the bites are underneath the covers and mostly all over my body, like I mentioned before...
After checking out the link quiethound45 posted, I don't think they're bedbugs after all...
Anyway, since I haven't found a better fix yet, I started rubbing some Autan on myself before bed to ward off insects. It seems to keep them away, but it’s definitely not a permanent solution...
I think I'm gonna have to head to the doctor and ask exactly what's biting me so I actually know what I'm fighting against...
quiethound45 said:I'm with ironsurfer8 on this one.. Dust mites are microscopic, and they mostly just feed on dead skin cells. You’ve basically lived with them since the day you were born and you'll die with them. Right now, you probably have millions or even billions of them on you.. Usually, they aren't a problem unless you suffer from allergies. For allergy sufferers, the issue is typically when they attach themselves to dust particles—that combination of pollen or dust plus the mite is what causes the irritation.. If you're actually feeling a physical bite, it might be ear mites, or if you have pets, it could be fleas. It’s hard to tell the difference if you aren't experienced.. Then again, you could also deal with bed bugs, stink bugs, ants, or other similar pests invading your living space.. So, it's time to take action..
I suspect it might be fleas, because their life cycle really picks up during these warmer days, and they breed at an incredible rate. You almost don't see them in the winter since larval development depends so much on the outside temperature.. It doesn't even matter if there's a pet inside with you—what matters is whether they've been there or if there's a way for them to get into at least one part of your home. For instance, if your room is above a garage where cats hang out, a flea could easily jump through a window (they can leap about 4 to 5 feet in the air) Time to call in the exterminators and get this handled..
If you happen to speak English...🙂
I live on the 8th floor of an apartment building, and the only animal nearby is my neighbor's "prize-winning" Golden Retriever that they pamper so much it's ridiculous There is zero chance that dog has fleas😁 No cats wandering around here, and no other animals in the vicinity either...
What are the actual symptoms of fleas??? Like I said, what I'm feeling is like a mosquito bite, just turned up to about a level 7 in terms of how long it lasts and how much it itches....
Honestly, I don't actually feel them biting me—that was more just me being dramatic during a moment of total frustration...
Those little pests are basically invisible, so I don't even realize when they're biting; I just wake up with this mild itching on my legs (mostly the back of my legs, and the upper part of my buttock, if I'm being blunt) and then, because I can't stop scratching, it turns into a little sore, kind of like those itchy spots you get from a wasp sting that just keeps getting worse...
I don't have any pets in the apartment, and I definitely don't have thick carpeting on the floor—just standard hardwood...
You're probably right about the bedbugs; they fit the description... it's just that in the link you sent, it says they're about 5mm big, and if something that large were crawling all over my bed, I'd definitely notice it...
I don't think it's ear mites because, as far as I can tell, once they get under the skin and start doing their thing, that's where the trouble is. I don't think that's the case here because when I switch up where I sleep for a few nights, the old sores heal up and new ones don't show up...
Yeah, I think I might actually have to call in some professionals... I tried the whole thing where I leave the mattress out in the sun all day, which helps a tiny bit, but by the next day, the little monsters are back in business and eating again...
