mistywolf17 said:Honestly, I am so sorry; I suppose I was just getting way too excited about every single donation I made to lose track of some checkbox down at the bottom, um 😳

Every single message ends up sitting right there in the USPS sent folder.
I assume you all figured that out while you were busy clearing out your inboxes, right?
It stands to reason there ought to be an option to prevent sent messages from being saved in the first place.

I honestly find it hard to believe that some people aren't aware that sent messages are saved by default unless you manually uncheck that box. I refuse to believe we're still having this conversation.😳

I have a feeling this topic has already surfaced, and frankly, the idea didn't really gain any traction at the time.🤷

Just some prideful sheep...🤣🤣

I'm not out here trying to get anyone banned or anything; it’s just my nature to be a bit of a smart-ass when I feel like I'm being unfairly targeted.

I don't drink alcohol 😛
I'm always pretty laid back 😍

Hoy, I wouldn't even want to see what you're like when you aren't feeling relaxed.😁

You basically have the highest tally of warnings for trolling or insults, which is a pretty distinct category from off-topic posts or spam, isn't it? 😉

Shane.. alright, look. :sigh:
My inbox is absolutely flooded with your reports. And I’m sure I’m not the only one dealing with this.
It feels like you’re trying to flag every single microscopic speck of dust on the floor.
Sure, okay... some of these posts are a bit off-topic, but they aren't malicious, nor are they spiraling into ten-post long tangents. Our subreddit isn't actually THAT draconian when it comes to minor deviations.

We want things to stay organized, but we don't want this place to feel like a sterile hospital ward.

Just relax. Take a breath. Go grab a beer.😉
Cloning: Thoughts? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
It’s not against the rules, unless your original handle happens to be part of a banned list.
And besides, I'm planning on posting from both accounts just to stir the pot a little and give the mods a bit of a headache.😉

Alright, let’s be real here... I don't think I've ever gone on such a massive posting spree on a single thread before. 😲

So, they actually nuked my post over on the lifestyle forum just because I mentioned that men are hideous creatures. 😁

Honestly... this whole "deleting posts" thing you guys do is just a pretty silly way to handle things. 😳

I was the one who deleted it. You can't go around talking about men like that. 🙂

Though, if we're being honest, your post wasn't exactly a masterpiece of constructive criticism either, was it, Klo? 😁 😉

Look, couldn't we have just disabled comments on that thread too? Maybe it wouldn't have been quite what it used to be, but at least it would still exist. It meant a lot to people and was a great thread; why not try to find a way to keep it alive?

I just want to say I'm not surprised at all that after all the attacks and the endless drama surrounding that topic, the mods finally just lost their patience.

Just enough reason to be surprised. A person gets bored with life, and then they get bored with a PDF they're moderating.
But instead, they say: "They're attacking us because of you, it's getting too hard to deal with, we can't do this anymore." They don't say: "Look, the thread is stupid now, so we're deleting this garbage that serves no purpose." Sure, the quality dropped, but if I recall correctly, it was still great back in the day—and my registration date is 2010. These are just phases a thread goes through.

Well, clearly plenty of attempts were made.
It started out with standard moderation, then the insults started flying. Then came the warnings stating certain behavior wouldn't be tolerated. After that, they moved on to handing out bans more aggressively.
So, what’s left on the table?

The only option left is to just shut off commenting altogether. But in my opinion, if you do that, it isn't really the same thing anymore.
But hey, fine... the mods and admins are the ones in charge here.🤷

Bradley Sanders4 said:Look, I'm not trying to join the whining about missing threads and I have zero interest in fanning the flames here, but seriously—WHY? If you post something on a forum, you have to accept the reality that one person will think it's brilliant, another will think it's stupid or boring, and someone else will find it so hilarious they just want to mock it. There's a massive difference between some user oversharing their private life and then crying because they're worried about being recognized, versus a user who intentionally writes a post and doesn't care which subforum it lives in—only to have everyone start screaming and throwing a tantrum when that post gets crossposted elsewhere. Why do you guys obsess over stuff like that? Why are certain regular users treated like protected wildlife in their own little corners, demanding intervention the second they see their posts show up on Reddit, while the regulars who actually hang out on Reddit get kicked to the curb? Why does one person's complaint carry weight while another's is completely ignored?

Once again, it feels like pure stupidity and forum political correctness are winning out over actual humor. 😢And I'm not even talking about the mods mostly; I'm talking about those ego-driven types who can't even laugh at their own posts.

I voiced my take on this matter quite a while ago.
If someone can't handle seeing their posts show up in threads like Reddit or the champion of stupidity, then they probably shouldn't be posting on the site at all.
The only real distinction between these two topics is that one allows comments while the other doesn't—which is why the latter remains untouched.
But honestly, it’s precisely because of those comments that Reddit stays so popular. And it’s also exactly why it’s constantly under attack. It's a bit of a vicious cycle.

All I’m saying is, I’m not at all surprised that after all the drama, the constant bickering, and the nonsense surrounding this topic, the moderators finally just lost their patience.

Doesn't matter. Look, is it really impossible to find mods on this entire site who would actually deal with this thread? Why does the Politics sub have five moderators (don't get me wrong, I have nothing against that specific PDF), while Reddit, which is its own special case, can't manage to have at least three people looking after it?

Are you seriously asking that with a straight face?😕
There are times when even ten of us wouldn't be enough, given how fast troll threads pop up in a single day or the sheer volume of posts flying in every hour.

I don't see any massive surge in post counts or new threads since my days as a moderator over at Reddit, so I really don't think they need three mods there.

Besides... there's the report button (or the option to send a PM). People aren't supposed to tag moderators directly in threads, even in a chat thread.

And as for the Trash forum theme... good grief, that was a hot potato even ages ago. I remember Azriel and I constantly having to brainstorm ways to manage it, almost as if that specific thread were its own separate PDF. It was just constant, constant, constant complaints from people about it.🙄 I'm honestly not surprised it finally reached a breaking point for someone.

Jacob Foster11 said:It’s entirely possible that certain subreddits operate under a completely different set of creation rules. I'm talking about something distinct from the standard defaults you see in most other communities.

When it comes to the whole process of having to edit and save your posts, it’s pretty much the same experience here as it is anywhere else on the web. I honestly can't wrap my head around why Grace Anderson3 seems to be struggling with such a straightforward task.🤷

I find myself needing to be dramatic whenever I feel like the attacks on Colbert are totally unjustified.

Besides, there’s a certain quiet satisfaction in re-reading my own posts. :herp: 🤣

The bolded part is actually quite reasonable; everything preceding it is just tedious enough to be infuriating. ☕

Well, hello there.
The thread was opened at 2:48 PM and shut down by 3:55 PM.
So, we’re looking at about an hour of total uptime.
Do people honestly believe the moderators are pulling 24/7 shifts on Reddit?

And frankly, I highly doubt it ever actually qualified as a trending topic.😕
Same post count in Feedback & Suggestions ·
It’s either one or the other. There isn't a middle ground here.
The system is completely broken—it's a mess. For some people, it looks like almost their entire post history has just vanished into thin air, while on certain chat threads, the post counts aren't even registering correctly. You have to pick a side. 😉

amberangler99 said:So, if you just threw a random card at me out of nowhere, and I responded with, "What the hell is your problem?", that would be a fair reaction, right? And I wouldn't get hit with another one just for reacting?

Actually, you'd still catch a card because you're debating moderation rules in the middle of a general discussion thread rather than in the dedicated Feedback Forum. It’s not about whether you used a phrase like "What the hell?"; it’s not about the insults themselves.🙄

Edit: Honestly, Nicholas King is hitting the nail on the head here. 😁

Edit 2: Are you actually lodging a specific complaint against someone, or are you just philosophizing about things in general, much like discussing world peace? 🙂
