Quick question in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Chloe Green61 said:Why does it feel easier? It’s an interesting question, really. It makes you wonder if we're actually making progress or if the friction of life has just been sanded down by sheer convenience. Sometimes I think we mistake a lack of resistance for actual ease, much like how a downhill slide feels effortless compared to a steady climb, even if you aren't actually gaining any ground.😁

If I can’t find the right subforum, then honestly, if they’re satisfied with things being this disorganized, they can just head for the exits.
If they actually managed to track him down, but suddenly find themselves having an issue with how the moderation is being handled—well, honestly, they should just pack their bags and head for the exit.
If they aren't happy with how things are running, they’re more than welcome to pack up and head out. Honestly, if you can't find anything to appreciate, why stay?

What exactly is the point of using force to detain people like this? It seems entirely counterproductive. 🤷

I suppose there’s a certain logic to it, really.
There’s always that certain breed of person who seems to have made a lifelong career out of being dissatisfied. Honestly, you could hand them a perfectly formatted, flawless PDF, and they’d still find some microscopic flaw to gripe about just to keep the momentum going. It’s like they wake up every morning looking for something to be annoyed by.
People like that clearly lack the basic ability to maintain a civilized conversation, which makes them entirely unfit for a forum like this. Honestly, they ought to find somewhere else to spend their time. This work.

Maybe one day they’ll finally grow a backbone and admit they aren't all saints either. They’ll have to face the fact that they occasionally screw up. Or, to put it more politely, they occasionally lose their composure and let out some absolute garbage.
Someday, New York City will finally step up and admit they were dead wrong about those flawed mods.😁

God, I hate small fries.😠 😍

Nicholas King said:That’s a bit easier. 🙂

It’s really just the final step. In my humble opinion, it's entirely unnecessary; I find it hard to believe someone can't find at least a few forums where they can write freely without feeling like they have to walk on eggshells around everyone else.

If you feel out of place somewhere, you just leave. It’s as simple as that.

Of course, everything depends on the specific subreddit.

I’m not going to go onto a hazelnut forum and debate whether I should use the word "dick" or "penis." But on a religion will forum, I might—based on my own experiences 😁.
And if I were posting a warning on a hazelnut sub, I wouldn't think twice about writing "What the hell are you thinking?" If I wrote "What is your penis?" it would sound completely unnatural.
😁
Google ads are getting annoying! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Hannah White2 said:Look, I’m rocking Google Chrome—yeah, I know, I’m part of that tiny 4% club, but hey, once I set my mind to something, I stick with it.\😁
\\nI already gave the whole ad blocker thing a shot, but it was a total bust. Honestly, any help would be huge. Shoot me a DM if you’ve got ideas.
\nEven as I’m typing this, there aren't any ads popping up, but the forum layout is taking up like, maybe two-thirds of the screen? On my laptop, that just looks terrible. 😢

I’m also on Opera, and honestly, everything works just fine for me.🤷

Oh, absolutely. That is such an awkward situation. Honestly, this might be a bit off-topic, but I just had to weigh in.
There is simply no way I could ever tell someone they have body odor. Good grief, the sheer social anxiety of it all.😢

🙂
On the contrary, people tend to fall into this trap of thinking that "culture" or basic decency only exists when someone polite is present to buffer the rude ones, or when you're forced to tolerate the obnoxious
But that's not how it works; true decorum is actually about demanding—not asking, mind you, but demanding—that the rude individuals clear out and stop being an eyesore
Because at its core, etiquette is just a shared playbook for how to act when you're stuck sharing the same space with a bunch of other people

Given that we live in a society where we're effectively forced to inhabit the same crowded environments, learning how to behave isn't optional; it's a necessity
The only real question left is how long this learning curve is going to take, and whether we'll choose the path of least resistance or the hard way

God... honestly, I always just sidestep people who decide to park themselves right in the middle of a hallway or a walkway.
I don't know if that counts as bad manners; maybe I'm just uncivilized. I'll just give them a quick kiss on the cheek and move on.😠

Honestly, it would just be a plain burrito. Anyone who ever stepped foot in a culinary school in Chicago knows that calling it a "meat burrito" is completely redundant.☕

Quincy:
You think people on the street are primitives—based on nothing, really (like, imagine if someone didn't move out of your way).
You don't hold a conversation by standing right in the middle of the sidewalk and blocking everyone else from passing. Basic etiquette dictates you step to the side when you're talking.

You decided to start a thread in the Psychology section, which implies you think there’s some kind of underlying issue here.
You claim it's impossible for you to change, yet whenever someone asks a logical question—say, what might happen if you actually adjusted a small detail in your life—you immediately label it as a provocation.

I'm starting to suspect you're just a textbook troll.☕

Robert Martinez6, you’ve lost your marbles here.

It’s all well and good to be polite, well-mannered, and civil (like Ban), but at some point, being overly cautious starts to feel more like being completely repressed. Not my style.🤷

Nicholas King said:What brightridge59 and (if memory serves me right) the mods occasionally do is perfectly fine—actually, it’s commendable, given how much patience and effort it requires.

We have to keep in mind we're talking about an American forum like Reddit or something similar, where you constantly get new users popping up with stories that aren't actually bad, they just look like a total nightmare to read because they lack any paragraph breaks. Deleting a post in those instances usually means nuking the whole thread, and I really don't think that's the best way to welcome newcomers. Besides, someone is bound to jump in eventually with some wild "old-timer conspiracy theory" anyway.

At that point, forcing people to hit the enter key starts feeling less like moderation and more like remedial training for rookies. 😁

Exactly. Otherwise, we end up with thousands of posts where people are whining, "Ugh, I can't be bothered to read this," or "This is unreadable." So, to prevent that, we just toss in a few line breaks here and there to make things legible.
And that's really all there is to it.🤷

brightridge59 said:Editing a post is a necessity when the text becomes an unreadable mess. And frankly, it happens more often than you'd think.

Right, so you're talking about hitting the enter key here and there to fix the formatting?
Fair enough, I completely blanked on that.
But let’s be clear: that doesn't actually delete anything; it just makes the post look less like a wall of text and more like something a human can actually parse.

Ryan Vaughn7 said:It would be a waste to delete the entire thread or issue a ban just to fix one single sentence via an edit.

What issue a ban... what kind of "waste" are we talking about here? If someone is acting out, they need to be reined in.
It’s like being overly polite for a second just to land a cheap shot or some snarky comment later. That’s not being civil; it's just being calculated.
For example...☕

I generally step in to edit a post when:
1. I need to scrub a link or an image containing adult content (I’ll include the reason why in the edit).
2. 🤔

Actually, scratch that—there is no number 2.
Depending on how bad things get, I’ll either wipe the post entirely or just issue a warning and leave it be.

I also tend to tweak or completely overhaul titles if they are unreadable or just pure chaos—you know, those frantic posts titled "HELP," "PLEASE HELP ME," or "IDK WHAT TO DO!!!!!!!!!111ONE341!!!"
That's pretty much the gist of it.

hollowmason64 said:Look, don't get it twisted—I'm not going to lose sleep over some niche subforum. But if you're asking if I'm saddened that things aren't what they used to be? Yeah, I am. It's a shame 😢

The whole thing about deleting threads just makes it look like people here can't handle even the slightest bit of pushback 😳
(not that I'm aiming this at you personally; you're part of the good old days for me)

Anyway, I'll pour myself a shot of bourbon later. Right now, I've got to head over to the DMV to sort out some paperwork for my new truck 🙂 🙂

There’s a specific place for criticism, you know.
But hey, by all means, keep doing whatever it is you're doing.😉

hollowmason64 said:I honestly don't get how the moderators over there can sleep at night while deleting threads that are just asking what happened to the old LSE. 😲
I mean, which specific moderator felt personally attacked by the question? ☕

Me.
No other mod would have let a thread like that slide, either. They just don't pass muster here.
Look, I’ve done plenty of things in my life that would make me lose my seat at the table, so people tell me to just go complain to the local water department or something equally futile.

Don't sweat the LSE situation; it’s really not worth the blood pressure spike. Just pour yourself a bourbon and relax.

Well, I actually just figured out how to do it myself.

Well, you clearly have some "tiny" ones right there. What does tiny even mean? Are we supposed to hunt them down with a microscope?🤷

As for color, it's possible; you just have to code it in manually.
redmarlin3, I had no idea you were actually Zrbin—well, damn, we’re really in for it now.😳
