SPOILERS FOR THIS TOTAL MESS

Seriously, if you’re looking for a legit horror movie—just run the other way. The first two acts are basically just a checklist of every tired genre cliché ever, but then—oh my god—this twist hits in the final act that had me laughing out loud for like ten minutes straight. It’s wild that someone would actually make a campy trash comedy like this in 2021, because let me tell you, this definitely isn't horror.
There's plenty of gore early on, but by the end, they crank it up to eleven alongside one of the absolute dumbest twists I've ever seen.
If you went into this knowing it was meant to be ridiculous, then sure, it gets a passing grade from me since I had fun with it—it fits right in with that cult trash vibe like >. But if you were actually expecting a serious movie... yikes.

Los Angeles is also a killer movie, though personally, I think Infinity takes the win.

Man, if you'd actually sat down and watched Los Angeles, you'd see exactly how these two films tie together...

Seriously such a killer movie 👍

So, parts of this movie were actually super charming and fun—honestly, I went in with zero expectations, so I just kind of turned my brain off since there’s a ton of goofy, nonsensical stuff going on. But seriously, why does it have to drag on for nearly two hours? It really should’ve been more like 80 or 90 minutes tops.

I won't get too deep into the weeds here, but man, it’s wild how much they basically ripped off their own ideas... it feels almost identical to Pirates of the Caribbean in some ways.

It's definitely watchable, though! Surprisingly better than I thought it would be—probably the perfect kind of flick to throw on for a family movie night.

Absolute top-tier stuff... basically, this woman turns her dress into a parachute, slides down a literal skyscraper, and then somehow manages to climb all the way back up in a totally different outfit just to send her own mother straight to prison—all while gloating about how she played her perfectly...
She tricks her so well that even with hundreds of people standing right behind her, nobody makes a peep, giving her the perfect window to try and take her out... honestly, it’s phenomenal.

What an absolute joke of a movie—seriously, it was just boring and dragged on forever. It feels like they just threw in every single hit song from that era just to fill the space (which is a total letdown, honestly, kind of like what happened with Suicide Squad)... there’s absolutely no reason for a flick like this to run longer than two hours.
I honestly hated it.👎
The Exorcist (2021) in Movies ·
I totally forgot to mention this—I was really expecting that heart attack at the start of the movie to be this looming, constant threat hanging over the lead character's head. But instead, he’s just out there sprinting, jumping around, saving the lady, swinging a sledgehammer... it felt like there was zero connection to the fact that he could literally drop dead from his condition at any given moment.

Honestly, they should’ve just called this one *Bone Cracker*. It was pretty mediocre—I mean, look, James Wan is a total master at what he does, and he can usually take even a shaky script and turn it into a legit horror flick—but here, the whole concept felt super forced. Since it feels like studios are just pumping these kinds of movies out on an assembly line lately, it’s getting harder for any of them to actually stand out from the crowd. The only saving grace is that we actually get real lead actors here instead of some random faces, which makes it way better than those silly flops like *La Llorona* or *Noah*.

vividstag16 said:I have to wonder... will Jason Statham ever actually play a role that’s different from everything else he’s done?🤔
It's always that exact same look... the same cadence... the same tired routine every single time.🤦

It's a curse that seems to plague so many of them... take Liam Neeson, for example. They land one decent part and then they just churn out the exact same character for the next 20 years.

Now, I’m not saying Jason Statham is any better than Chuck Norris or Steven Seagal, but still.☕

Ugh, please—it’s like Liam Neeson hasn't even existed since 2008 or something. He's just...
Jack Cook7 said:The whole thing is basically just one big surreal joke.

I was totally sold the second he realized that necklace had vanished from the ashtray. You just have to watch the look on his face.
- Dobrica, Dobrica, Dobrica.
- The necklace is gone.
- Turn off the lights, clear out the streets, I'm outta here—bam, pow, zap, boom, wham, kaboom, crash, smash, splat, crunch, ouch, my head, why does this always happen to me?!
- Look, the necklace just slid under the couch.

I don't think that's really what they were going for—it’s definitely not a Shoot Em Up style flick.
Look, there have definitely been better action flicks out there. If we're talking choreography and directing, it’s probably a notch below John Wick. Like, in the first Wick movie, the villain felt super weak—there was this huge missed opportunity where they could've brought in a heavy-hitting Russian badass as the secondary antagonist, but they just blew it. So yeah, overall, the movie just lacks that sense of real threat or presence you want to feel.
In the first half, the main guy gets absolutely wrecked and seems pretty vulnerable, but then suddenly in the second half, he's basically invincible. The action gets so over-the-top it almost feels like a parody—honestly, even worse than that Home Alone Equalizer finale.
It was fun, sure, but pretty mindless... I've already forgotten most of it. That said, I'm stoked to see Bob Odenkirk landing lead roles because he's always been such a likable guy.

What an absolute train wreck of a movie—honestly, just straight up garbage.

goldenhound32 said:Do you even know what "the mafia" actually means? We're talking about organized crime here.

Bribing cops is just straight-up corruption—it doesn't automatically mean you're dealing with the mafia!

Also... I don't know how much you actually know about India or how many people from there you've met, but over there, corruption is on a whole different level compared to the US. It's practically part of the daily routine, like saying "good morning."

Why are you making stuff up?
He didn't murder a crowd of people; he killed one guy.

I mean, seriously, is there a single movie out there where the mob isn't bribing someone?

And yeah, he’s responsible for that kid’s death too. He was involved in a hit-and-run, then when those two tried to check on the body, he told them they had to get out of there fast. Who knows—maybe the kid was still alive, and if an ambulance had shown up right then, they could've saved him.

casualsailor55 said:So he's not some mobster, he just bribes the cops? He kills people—literally took out the boss and is taking the heat for the ones his drivers ran over—but oh, wait, excuse me, he's just a "businessman."
That’s exactly why this country is stuck in such a mess with this kind of mindset. 🤦

taman I was just about to post this exact thing, but you beat me to it!

goldenhound32 said:But wait—he’s actually the narrator from the jump! The whole movie kicks off with him sending this letter to some high-ranking government official in China.

SPOILER

So, he’s the narrator, sure—but man, he is such a totally different person than what we saw! We spent like two whole hours watching his big rise to power, only to have him suddenly act like some smooth, cool mafia boss for maybe five minutes? That felt so off. It should've been a much more even split, honestly.

I was actually planning to skip this one entirely, but all the glowing reviews finally wore me down and convinced me to give it a shot—and man, am I regretting it now.
The pacing is just brutal—it drags forever and is honestly just a pile of clichés. It feels like it was filmed twenty years too late; sure, they throw in some swearing and violence, but at times it felt more like a Disney film made for kids than anything else.
I kept waiting for the lead to actually step up and take over the narration like they did at the start, but that doesn't even happen until the last five minutes. And even then, it felt totally unearned—like some forced "transformation" into a cool guy that the movie expects you to cheer for? Give me a break...

Honestly, what a waste of time...

Man, where do I even start with this one...
I mean, we could start with the whole "only five emotions" thing...

Look, I know we're kind of veering off track here—so I won't go too deep—but if I really started nitpicking, I could honestly write a novel about both sides of the argument.

Honestly, I absolutely loved Ad Astra—it’s such a fantastic movie!

Jessica Gonzalez said:I guess it’s just my opinion, but that one was definitely the worst for me—it's all subjective, after all. It mostly comes down to the context: you have this streaming giant dropping a movie on Christmas Day starring an A-list actor, only for it to be an incredibly bad film. I suspect we'll see more of this as the industry shifts; it feels like big tech companies are stepping in to churn out artistic content now that the traditional film industry has lost its way.

But honestly? It’s still not even close to being worse than Wonder Woman 1984.
Thoughts on Pixar's Soul (2020)? in Movies ·
It was a decent movie, honestly—nothing groundbreaking, but it worked. There was one point where I almost checked out entirely, but man, it really pulled me back in by the end with its message.
Then again, if you start overthinking the logistics of this whole "life after death" thing, none of it makes any sense—kind of like how things play out in Inside Out.
