People really ought to stop obsessing over those daily totals—that data is essentially useless for the general public.

Fine, then let them stop testing every single person with a runny nose and we'll see how that goes. 😁

On one hand, I think it’s just plain nonsensical to reopen nightclubs and bars where people crowd together, while on the other, we're forcing kids into remote learning at home.

New infection numbers are climbing, yet cafes are staying open indoors—I’m really hoping we don't end up blaming high schoolers for the next big spike and having them grounded again ☕ While they just let people hang out in bars.
There's some recommendation about not mixing people from different households at the tables 😂 Honestly, this task force and their measures are just getting more and more ridiculous

There’s money set aside for assistants, but my school just can’t seem to find anyone.
The first round of hiring wrapped up on the 5th, and now they’re still hunting for three more.

I couldn't care less about some technicality regarding forty or forty-five minutes; those details are completely irrelevant to the bigger picture.
Furthermore, I want kids to be able to enjoy sports, outdoor activities, and field trips without any restrictions.
Retirement and veteran associations travel whenever they please, yet children haven't been allowed anything for two years now. It's disgusting.

I’m with you on that.

The breathing part isn't even an issue for me, but having something stuck to my face for too long? It gets old fast. Yesterday I had one on for three hours and was just counting down the minutes until I could finally breathe free. Again, it’s not about the air, it’s just annoying.

Well, look at what was written above. It starts with one kid staying home, then a few days later someone they passed it to stays home, then a few days after that, and so on. Parents have to work, kids do what they're told, and suddenly nobody’s even showing up to school properly. 😁

Honestly, I’m just completely over this whole thing. Between the endless waves and all the chaos, I've had enough of this pandemic stuff. 🙂

Look, I’m just speaking in broad strokes here

Honestly? I’ve got a gut feeling that by the time this school year rolls around, either the preschoolers or the kindergarteners—or maybe both—are going to be catching delta. From everything I’ve been reading, it seems to be tearing through kids like wildfire.
The older folks in my house are all vaccinated, including the grandparents, so... yeah. Fingers crossed for the best.

I look at this and see a lose-lose scenario where nobody wins. If they tighten things up, people lose their minds—parents complaining about kids struggling, masks being pointless, social distancing feeling forced, kids missing out on sports, the mental health toll... it’s a mess.

If they ease up? Then the vulnerable folks are left totally exposed, everything descends into chaos, and infection rates spike.

Honestly, I don't see a single solution that keeps the majority happy.

My take? We should probably stop testing every single person who sneezes and just focus on those who are actually seriously ill. See how that plays out.

I’ve been sitting here scrolling through these threads, just taking it all in, and it makes me wonder—what would you guys actually do? If you were calling the shots, how would you organize this so you could finally look at it and say, "Alright, fine, this actually makes sense"?
Is there even a version of this that works?

Because honestly, it feels like no matter what solution we throw at the wall, someone’s going to find a way to point out why it's flawed.

I honestly can't tell if they're playing dumb on purpose or if they genuinely have zero clue how the real world actually works.
Either way, it's pretty depressing.

So, what else are they going to make us do this year? I'm still a bit lost on the requirements here.

My kid is starting first grade, so I’m just trying to get my ducks in a row and gather some info.

It’s the same thing as having a two-meter gap without masks; the air quality in the classroom isn't exactly uniform at the end of the day anyway.

Last year, even the little kids had to wear masks all the way to school and through the hallways. Remember how much of a drag that was?
It’s not like actual Americans were part of the adult vaccine trials either; we just ended up looking at data from somewhere else. 🤷

Topic - For now, I'm staying out of it. They seem a bit too young for me to be pushing this new shot on them.

You don't need the SI unless you got your second vaccine dose more than 14 days ago. Everything else is mandatory.

Our daycare offers preschool every year. But honestly, fewer and fewer kids are signing up because most of them just stay in the daycare program instead.

The curriculum my daughter had back in 2015/2016 for first grade was way simpler and less intense than what I went through back in '85, and honestly, looking at what kids have been doing in first grade over the last two years, it looks even easier than what she had.

I've seen scans of the old "Good Morning" series—it includes 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade stuff, plus reading materials from 4th grade. It’s all so much more comprehensive than what kids are dealing with today, regardless of how many pages there are.

Back then, they wrote way more essays and different types of texts. They really pushed kids to practice their writing skills.
Coloring was treated like a reward for when you finished your work.
Nowadays, they just call it "early English immersion."😬

My kid’s school stuff got pushed back last year, and now it's finally happening. Honestly, whether it was then or it is now, they still have zero interest in drawing or coloring. I'm pretty sure they actually despise it with every fiber of their being. ☕ I see some real progress being made.
He’s older now. More emotionally grounded. He handles failure without spiraling, and he actually stays focused on the grunt work he hates instead of checking out. Progress, I guess.

My kid absolutely hates coloring. It’s just not his thing. Give him some letters, basic math, or random facts instead. I can already tell school is going to be an interesting ride for us.

I'm guessing this goes to the local school district office? 🤔

Basically, they calculate the quarantine period starting from when you last had contact with someone positive, though they look back at the two days right before those symptoms actually kicked in.
