Pace and the Nazis in Ukraine 👍
I don't have kids myself, but honestly, seeing responses like this makes me feel a whole lot better about where things are heading. I’ve spent plenty of time lurking on forums over in the States, and while you rarely find deep dives specifically centered on childcare, there are always groups of moms who are practically sprinting to get their kids vaccinated! 👎

I'm jumping in on this question too.
This is some seriously interesting stuff! 👍
Workplace birthday celebrations in Psychology ·
There’s three of us at the office, so we just grab some small gift and bring in some treats to celebrate.😁
My "issue"—and my husband's too—is that coworkers always show up with food on their birthday, but since we celebrate our family traditions instead, neither we nor our parents ever bring anything, even though we get the day off anyway😁 (we head over to a relative's house for the celebration)

It's honestly pathetic that your boss is forcing this on you!👍
What kind of fallout would you actually face if you just told them you aren't interested?

There isn't a damn bit of difference between you and them, which basically makes you just another player👍
I honestly don't get why you're labeling them like that when you're clearly getting your fix from them anyway>>
? You spent weeks cycling through multiple girls, including those ones, so there's zero distinction here.

How can anyone even suggest growing out of sex for pleasure?!! That's supposed to be a lifelong thing! Not to mention everything else it brings to the table👍

Rachel Richardson said:The fundamental issue here is that a real "career" in the States usually exists only in theory.
We’re essentially just a small pond—maybe even more like a satellite colony😬
If you're looking to stack some serious cash, you'd be better off seeking an outsourcing role (or finding one yourself); you could spend a few years traveling the globe and amass more wealth than you ever could in decades working here.
Ambition requires a sense of purpose.
Personally, I would suggest focusing on kids 😁
It’s a rewarding way to round out a person—it gives you plenty of extra "responsibilities" to manage—but more importantly, your time isn't being wasted; you actually see the tangible results of your hard work and dedication.
Then, whatever downtime you have left at the office can be spent surfing or finding better ways to spend your energy. 😁
Alternatively, find a way to turn your hobbies into a business so you won't have to do this job anymore.🤔

That is a terrible reason to have children.

Living without kids doesn't make us incomplete!

Our time isn't being wasted either, since I've got enough pets, hobbies, travels, and books to keep anyone from ever getting bored, as long as they actually care about stuff outside of their nine-to-five!

The idea about the hobby is solid. 👍
What's been making you feel down lately? in Off-topic ·
Seeing him in person was such a trip; I was stoked to finally meet the guy, but man, seeing how much he’s aged really bummed me out👎 But honestly, you gotta meet him and hear him play at least once in your life!🧐
You aren't spoiled at all!

I totally get why vacationing on an island like that would drive you crazy!
Since I’m the type who actually likes to live a little, I’d probably just spend a few days there before heading somewhere better nearby, then just pop back to visit them once in a while.
As long as you're handling the paperwork and the admin side of things, you've done your part; nobody needs to be an expert in every single detail.😉

If you're feeling guilty about being stingy, then just pay someone—like a contractor or a handyman—to fix something up at the house or work on the yard.
Setting money aside in a savings account for emergencies, travel, or just some random bullshit is just smart planning, so don't sweat it!

Your mom probably feels this massive pressure to see you married off and having kids; a lot of moms act like that's the only thing that matters.
Just tell her that once something real happens, you'll let her know, but until then, she needs to back off. Keep repeating it until she gets the hint.
She didn't "put up" with you out of obligation; she had you because she wanted to, so you don't owe her a lifetime of putting up with her nonsense!👍

That one song alone tells you everything you need to know about how people used to live 👎 (I swear I'm telling the truth🙂)
Honestly, thank God he was never even born!

I’ll be honest, I’m still feeling pretty lost with some of the topics here even though I’ve been hanging around for a while now🤔😁

Is there an actual section on this forum where we can just ask questions about certain topics or actually start discussions?
Right now, I'm trying to figure out where we can talk about YouTube channels without it being stuck in some teen section or ending up in those annoying threads where everyone just spams their own links.
Meryl Streep in Movies ·
What an absolute legend, just a phenomenal actor! Honestly, I’m totally shaken up right now, this is such a tragedy.🙂
I've followed his work everywhere from Broadway stages to big-screen movies and TV series, and his best performances have to be in The Trap, Murder, Huddersfield, Heavenly Hook, and Lightning. I think I'll have to dig out the Constitution and rewatch some of those classics.

I honestly can't wrap my head around the idea that my buddies actually kicked a muse or their own kids. Especially this one lady who’s a single mom—she didn't even have anyone to kick in the first place. They're just straight-up furious and frankly, they can go jump. Like, does it never cross a kid's mind to actually strike their own mother? Or someone else at daycare? Instead, these others are just practically itching to lay a hand on anyone they see.
Frank Wells said:Well, you're right; hitting someone weaker than yourself is just plain ugly. But let's face it, kids today have way too much nerve, and they have zero respect for their elders. Not in school with their teachers or professors, and certainly not at home with their parents or grandparents. They aren't afraid to raise their voices at an older person, insult them, or even get physical. Whether this is a direct result of modern parenting styles or something else entirely, I can't say for sure, but it's happening more and more often...

Exactly! But it's also because moms and grandmas just let those kids get away with hitting them and acting out like total jerks.☕
Ashley Bailey75 said:My oldest (2.5 years old) keeps pushing his little sister (1 year old)—and honestly, "a few times" is an understatement, he’s constantly picking on her out of pure jealousy, and she’s actually ended up with a split lip a couple of times. When she really caught it this time, I totally lost it—I snapped at him right in his face and screamed. I just hit my breaking point with the constant bickering and the two of them teaming up against my sanity, plus seeing the blood genuinely terrified me.
The thing is, he hasn't stopped pushing her, but now he’s added aggressive screaming and getting in people's faces whenever he doesn't get his way. He picked up on my outburst immediately, which honestly stressed me out even more and really gave me something to chew on.

He’s a sensitive kid, though, and I can tell my reaction really shook him. I think physical discipline is super counterproductive, but I get where those impulses come from. Still, kids shouldn't have to be the punching bags for our own lapses in judgment.

So what am I supposed to do when he just keeps doing whatever he wants?
electricnomad8 said:I have a question regarding the second part of this thread's title. I’m increasingly finding myself witnessing children screaming for absolutely no reason. Is it a parenting issue? I recently read about a restaurant owner in Australia who actually boosted their revenue by banning parents with screaming kids. It sounds crazy, but it works. Kids just didn't scream like this back in the day. That used to be a core part of how we were raised—learning not to disturb others. Is this just a "trend" now? Is it the influence of movies where kids are constantly screaming too? Or are these children simply being neglected and frustrated without anyone noticing?

It would be freaking awesome if this "trend" spread across America and all of Europe, including dedicated childfree hotels, apartment complexes, and cafes.
Look, kids are always going to be loud, maybe not in a fancy restaurant, but they're out there shrieking on the streets and acting hysterical at people's houses too! 👎

Harold Anderson3 said:Man, that sounds a lot like my situation, though I wasn't exactly trying to cross any borders. Did this guy miss a flight or something?🤔 😉
E: Oh, I see now that he was on foot. Still, I'm a little confused by the geography... starting in Poland, heading to Italy... and ending up in Greece? 😁

They spent months hunting him down, and now he’s stuck in a hospital bed. His family is hurting, sure, but honestly, the people who actually give a damn are those folks who kept telling me all about him. He caused them nothing but massive headaches, but they still care about him deep down (even if they aren't blood relatives).
I have no clue how he managed to travel all over the place; we didn't hear from him directly about being back in Poland, we only found out through his kids.
Everyone keeps saying what a great guy he was :-(

For me, I decided I was just going to walk from Washington, D.C., all the way to the coast, wearing nothing but a T-shirt and shorts.
I genuinely thought to myself, "Hey, I'll be at the beach in maybe three days tops."
The girl I was doing all this for, well, she turned me down, naturally. ☕
I'm being completely honest about everything I wrote here.

Last year, this guy decided to hike all the way from a small town in the Midwest toward Italy. They eventually found him in Greece.
He was perfectly fine until a year ago when a car accident triggered everything, and ever since then he's been a completely different person—dealing with these bizarre delusions and totally letting himself and his apartment go to hell. His therapist said the illness had been lying dormant inside him until he hit his late thirties, and then that crash just flipped the switch on everything.
Bravo 👍

I honestly can't stand lowbrow humor or people being vulgar for no reason because nothing about that trash is actually funny to me, and that goes for both men and women alike.
I only resort to swearing when I stub my toe on something!

Donna White50 said:There’s physical punishment and psychological punishment. Both are inherently traumatic for a kid, but people lean toward the latter since modern parenting styles don't allow the former—like, being sent to your room for two hours to stare at a corner is still a thing.
But you still have to set boundaries for a child, and that’s done through rewards and consequences. Without that, there's no real upbringing, because there’s no way for kids to understand or think about the results of their actions. Kids who get away with everything end up turning into little monsters.
I'm not saying hit them, but giving a kid a quick swat on the butt or sending them to their room for a timeout isn't "beating" them. Honestly, in this day and age, kids need some level of physical discipline because most parents just don't have the time for the complex psychological training required. Otherwise, everything stays in this mediocre middle ground where neither the parent finishes the job nor the kid actually gets the message...

Hell yeah! 👍
If you tell a kid ten times not to do something and they still pull it, then yeah, you're gonna give 'em a smack on the ass!

It's real easy to sit there and act like a perfect parent to a three-year-old ☕

Finally, Henry Sullivan10, someone actually called out Jelte's nonsense properly 👍
Dealing with annoying neighbors in Psychology & Therapy ·
I’d honestly just slap a note up in the apartment lobby asking everyone to pipe down, maybe they'd actually get the hint.👍

Back in 2016, I was staying out in some coastal town in Florida—you know, one of those places absolutely crawling with seagulls—and first thing in the morning I thought I was hearing my neighbors screaming at each other, but nope, it was just the damn birds. 😁🤔😁
