Do you consider this country your true home? in Close to Politics ·
A textbook example of state-sponsored intimidation: shutting down the highway to an American town.
I used to think that in a true democracy, you were actually allowed to travel wherever you please, provided there wasn't a sign saying otherwise,
but apparently, that logic doesn't hold much water here in America either.
Yet, strangely enough, when it comes to welcoming those radicalized hooligans crossing over from Mexico, suddenly everything is perfectly fine, isn't it?

I find it almost impossible to wrap my head around the idea of you ever getting a warning from Aunt Elsa. 🤷

Michelle Alvarez8 said:Actually, option 2 originally had two sentences—but the forum flagged it for being too long, so I had to trim it down.
The second sentence was "Orthodox." 😁

That’s exactly why I went with the other option when it came time to cast my vote.
It’s funny how things work out, isn't it? If you look at the calendar, Orthodox Christmas actually falls about eleven and a half months before the Catholic one. 😬

Honestly, after reading all that, I’ve had a total change of heart.
In fact, why stop there? I say we just scrap emojis entirely. 😲

I wouldn't even bother addressing a request like that
if the issue wasn't that the New York Times forums won't let you embed images using IMG code,
which effectively makes it impossible to drop in any foreign facepalm memes.
-> consider this my moral support for Michelle Alvarez8's little plea!

As for the rest of that linked text, I’ll just pass. ☕

Jerry Rogers6 said:Regarding the situation with slybison8—it wasn't just hinted at; honestly, looking back, it was pointed out far too many times if you actually take a moment to think about it properly.
Clear, concise, and backed by facts.
The truth is, people simply lack the will to act anymore.

The administration found it easier to play dumb and treat the users like idiots rather than seriously addressing a moderator who is clearly problematic and unfit for the role.

And all this self-promotion about how there’s been no retaliation or any kind of abuse? That’s just childish nonsense.🙂

Anyway, personally, I’m glad to see more and more people finally noticing what we’ve been calling out for ages—back when his outbursts were much more frequent than they are today.
There isn't a pair of gloves in existence thick enough to hide the sheer extent of his "hospitality" and supposed competence.

Would you mind actually listing just one single warning or strike you've received from slybison8,
just so we can actually have a real conversation about whether your complaint against him even holds water?
Why is there no "Delete post" option on IEEE? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Why isn't there a "Delete Post" option on the IEEE forums?

Do you think it's because once ninety minutes pass you lose access to "Edit" or those "Advanced Options" to scrap a message,
or is it just that little "Editing..." notification that starts bugging you after thirty seconds?

Ryan Vaughn7 said:I mean, seriously, just look at this photo. Does anyone else feel like they’re staring directly into the soul of a masterpiece, or am I just being overly dramatic today? It’s one of those images that hits you right in the gut before you even have a chance to process what you’re actually seeing, isn't it? There is something about the composition here that feels almost too intentional, as if every single shadow was placed there specifically to mess with my head. Is it just me, or does this capture a certain kind of mood that most people would completely overlook? Honestly, I could spend the next hour just dissecting the lighting alone, because why does it feel so much more profound than anything else on my feed today?

I honestly can’t decide if I should be impressed or just plain baffled by this video, because there isn't much middle ground left in this world, is there? You sit down, expecting maybe a bit of mindless entertainment to kill ten minutes before dinner, and instead, you're hit with something that makes you question everything you thought you knew about how things work around here. Is it art? Is it a social experiment gone rogue? Or is it just one of those moments where someone decided to see exactly how far they could push the envelope before the whole thing falls apart? It’s wild, really, how much can be packed into such a short runtime, leaving you staring at the screen for a few seconds afterward, wondering if anyone else actually caught that subtle detail halfway through, or if I’m just overanalyzing things like I always do.

I’ve unfortunately found myself stuck in those exact same debates before,
where you spend all this energy talking, only for the other person to suddenly realize they were dead wrong after a while.
It’s funny how people process things, isn't it? One person learns by reading a textbook, another through their own messy life experiences, and then there are those who just... don't learn at all.

I mean, what else do you actually need once you’ve got a handle on someone's user data?
They link their Facebook account so frequently—usually straight from a mobile device, too,
giving up everything from their entire contact list to the contacts of everyone they know...
It’s honestly a joke.
If that damn thing actually gets implemented, then let people click whatever they want. 🤷
And honestly, we can't entirely blame them; Reddit is just as much to blame for making this all possible in the first place.

northerncyclist2 said:Look, there's still no direct link between your Facebook login and your username here, so the forum hasn't leaked any of your private data. Even if you were to go ahead and like your own post, nobody on Facebook is going to have any idea it was you—unless, of course, your Facebook profile is also under the handle loneraven25, right? 😁.

That’s a pretty half-baked take, and honestly, it doesn't guarantee anyone's security. 😁
Sure, every user on this forum gets to decide their own level of anonymity,
but there is absolutely nothing the forum can do to protect a user if they end up posting something on their Facebook profile that gives them away. 😍

northerncyclist2 said:Are you guys just testing out some new feature before you roll it out to everyone on the whole site?

If you ask me, the whole thing is just a massive, clumsy blunder.
I feel like I’m just shouting into the void on this Reddit thread lately, isn't that just how it goes? It feels like everyone is just stuck in their own little bubbles, posting things that don't really connect with anyone else, and I can't help but wonder if we've all just lost the ability to actually engage with one another. Is it just me, or has the whole vibe shifted toward being incredibly self-absorbed? It seems like nobody is actually looking for a conversation anymore; they're just looking for a mirror. Regarding the Terms of Service. Can they actually guarantee that your privacy stays intact?
So, which specific implementation of the Facebook Like button completely ruins the user experience? 🤷

Rachel Hughes46 said:So, what happens when you try to quote two different posts—both of which already have a few emojis in them—and then you can't even add two or three of your own without the system completely nuking the emojis from the original quotes? Honestly, I think this might be the only legit forum I've ever come across that has such a ridiculous limitation on emojis 😁
But hey, I guess you guys know best. The server is already struggling so hard as it is—it’s basically on life support—so adding a couple more emojis would probably just finish it off and crash the whole thing anyway 😬

If anyone out there knows a serious forum that doesn't babysit us with emoji limits, please, just shoot me a DM with the name. 🙂

There really isn't any need to try and argue based on someone else's situation, because honestly, you just aren't standing in the same shoes when it comes to requesting an unban, right?

In her case, the admin issued a permanent ban following a private request, which was then overturned once the six-month mark passed and she filed an appeal that was actually granted.

But you? You were hit with a ban regarding those Zillow PDFs, and then—before the clock even hit six months to qualify for regaining partial download privileges—you're already starting threads asking why this is happening.

And since not every moderator involved with that specific PDF group is going to jump on board with your request, how can we expect the admin to just swoop in and lift that partial ban?

Ruralna ti says:
Look, as someone who’s been hanging around this Reddit community for more than five minutes, you really ought to understand that Partial settlements aren't just things that fluctuate on a whim from one day to the next.
You asked for a Partial, and there it is; it isn't going to just vanish into thin air instantly because, believe it or not, there’s actually a specific procedure to follow when we're dealing with Partials.

after which you respond:
fair enough.

I’m counting on a certain level of decency and tolerance from some of the ladies over on Zillow during our future debates.

which basically means you think you have a handle on the exact procedure for lifting a posting ban on a single PDF.

Austin Harris8 said:Like I said, I’ll keep pushing back—appropriately and with actual arguments—just for the fun of it. Though, let's be real, it probably won't change a thing since it's always easier to just blame a random user, but at least everyone else can read along and see what's actually happening here.

To be honest, I haven't seen any actual arguments from you yet that would allow you to write anything in your own defense. 🤷
How long does it take for someone to actually process what an admin is saying when they write:
You’re totally within your rights to request that your partial be removed after six months, though at the end of the day, the moderators can either grant the request or shut it down.
Anthony Jackson2 said:you have to wait six months before they take it down.

To be more precise, you have to wait six months just to earn the right to file an appeal,
which, let’s be clear, absolutely does not guarantee that they’ll actually pull it down. 🤷
