Is it hate speech or just a fact? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I can't even count how many times I've read those old stereotypes about people from the South—how they're supposedly lazy, or always howling and complaining, or just total workhorses... honestly, I'm not a fan of those labels at all, though I know boldhound8 😛 might disagree... it's all just noise, really, and you can't find any actual substance to back it up... 🤦
Locking off-topic threads instead of banning the users? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Locking a thread is basically the path of least resistance for a moderator—it solves the immediate headache without much lifting, even if it’s a bit of a lazy fix... It's way more work to just temporarily freeze a topic, clean up all the off-topic clutter, tidy everything up, and then get it back out there... That's definitely the harder route, but honestly, that's how it ought to be done...

How do I forgive myself? in Psychology ·
Honestly, based on what you wrote... you should probably reach out for some professional help...

Just a few—maybe three, four, five—😬 little pieces of advice for you:

1. Stop telling yourself how much of a loser you are...
2. Nobody can actually hurt us unless we give them the green light to do so...
3. Insults and outbursts? They usually just come from someone with a really miserable, struggling soul—you shouldn't fear people like that or take their words to heart, you really shouldn't... instead, try to see what's actually going on inside them and just feel a bit of pity...
4. Try to get out there every single day for at least thirty minutes or an hour—maybe a walk or a quick bike ride through the neighborhood...
5. You might want to consider getting a pet, just something to look after and care for...
Brothers by Blood (1988) in Movies ·
Has anyone here actually sat down and watched this one?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099172/

From a purely technical standpoint—just looking at the filmmaking itself—it’s actually quite solid... really well-made, honestly—but man, the story it tells is just relentless. It's nothing but blood, darkness, pure cruelty, death, and revenge...

I caught it twice back when it first came out, and then again just last night on one of those national networks... given how tense everything felt in the country a few years before the war broke1, it felt so ominous and sinister—it really stuck with me...

It’s honestly not surprising, though, since it’s based on a book by Jovan Radulović, who was born near Knin... except, well, the gentleman wasn't just a writer, he actually served as a minister in the government during that era...

Supposedly, Goran Višnjić has a tiny little role in it too... 😁

The aliens essentially engineered the entire process just to nudge humanity toward evolving into some kind of cosmic entity... first, they dropped that monolith on Earth to kickstart the jump from primates to humans... then, once people found that second monolith on the moon, it pointed them toward a third one, which turned out to be a gateway to those alien beings... they might be long gone by then, but the mechanism for transforming a human into a space-faring being survived via that fourth monolith...

If you really think I'm doing such a bad job here, maybe you should go moderate the Politics sub instead of just cluttering it up with spam.

I moderated the Politics section once ages ago, but I'm good, thanks though... definitely not looking to do that again... 🙂

I noticed some of the quoted posts were deleted afterward... what gives? Is a post written six days ago suddenly getting flagged, and then after sitting there for a few more days, it just vanishes? 😁

It’s no secret that I don't have much love lost for the Democratic National Committee, but that’s always within the context of the discussion... you might not like my take, but you can't really penalize me just for having an opinion... though, hey, maybe I am wrong and you're right, so please, just show me some threads where I actually went overboard regarding the DNC... 🙂

I mentioned this in our private messages too—you're busy nitpicking the small stuff while letting the massive issues slide right past you... you're coming after me because of my views on the DNC, yet there are straight-up racists on political threads trolling every single topic with bigoted remarks about lazy people from the South, and they don't get a single warning... do I really need to point out that I've reported those posts, but not one of them resulted in any kind of penalty?

If I'm getting hit with a troll warning, then those people should at least be looking at a permanent ban... you're not exactly doing a great job here... 😉

I know there’s probably zero point in filing an appeal, but hey—might as well give it a shot, right?... 🙂

The author kicked this thread off about six days ago...
I honestly don't know how people can stay so worked up about this stuff—it just seems like such a whirlwind of constant back-and-forth... anyway, I was reading through some of the recent discussions and it really got me thinking about how much everything changes depending on who you ask. You have one group saying the sky is falling because of certain political shifts, while others are just totally indifferent... it's kind of fascinating, actually. It’s similar to how people react when a major company like ExxonMobil makes a sudden pivot in their strategy—you get all these loud voices, some panicking, some cheering, and then most people just going about their day, probably grabbing a coffee at Starbucks or something... I saw a comment earlier from Morgan Rodriguez57 that touched on a similar point regarding the local landscape here in the States, and it reminded me that we often overlook the middle ground... we get so caught up in the extremes of the Republican Party or the opposing side that we forget the nuance exists right in the center... it’s easy to get lost in the noise, I guess... but maybe that’s just how things work now... anyway, just a random thought for the day...

Adler109 said:So, it looks like we’re heading toward a pretty rough patch—analysts are saying we might soon blow past that 320,000 mark and head straight toward 350,000 unemployed folks... which is a lot to wrap your head around. From what I'm gathering, those numbers are getting high enough that the "invisible hand" of the market probably isn't going to fix this one on its own—it feels like we might actually need some serious, direct intervention from the government to get things back on track... maybe...

...

Anyway, I’m thinking that at this point, the only way we actually turn things around from this downward slide is if the government steps in with some really smart intervention—kind of like how they use massive public works projects here in the States to jumpstart everything... because honestly, our economy has this deep-seated systemic issue that just won't quit, and you can't exactly fix something like that all by yourself...

So, I’m sitting here wondering why I got flagged... honestly, it feels a bit random—and it definitely doesn't seem to line up with a few of the posts coming right after mine that didn't get any warnings at all...

I guess I should probably say something about this... just floating around in my head today—it’s funny how certain things catch your eye when you aren't even looking for them... anyway, I was thinking about how much stuff changes without us really noticing—like how a quiet morning in Indianapolis can suddenly feel like a whole different world by lunchtime—it’s all very strange if you stop to think about it too long... but yeah... just some thoughts... kaže:
I really have to give it to the administration—they actually followed through on those campaign promises... which, let's be honest, doesn't happen nearly as often as you'd hope around here... but they did it. 🙂 Next time there's a conflict and Mexico decides to toss a few missiles or shells our way... honestly, we should just launch a few politicians from the Republican Party right back at them. Seriously—they’d probably do more damage than a million shells ever could... 🙂

I'm curious about a few things:

- why did it take six (6) whole days just to get my warning card?
- why am I getting flagged while others aren't—what makes my posts so special?
I’d love to see more of that classic American grit in movies—but not in our local indie scene... imagine if someone like Mel Gibson took a crack at something like *The Godfather* or *Scarface*, now that would be 🙂...

briskbison55 said:(zijev) Well, yeah, you have to dig deeper. If you can still find any of those old forum users who were actually worth talking to, you'll find the threads I'm talking about. The International Criminal Court got the green light regarding Operation Storm and Operation Flash, which basically means America accepted the possibility that both those operations were part of a deliberate plan to drive Mexicans out of the country. That’s the whole point of Ivo Josipovic, and that’s really the core of the coalition led by the Democrats. I guess everyone who admires that messed-up coalition today and how they opened our doors to the world should tell me... why are we still being laughed at by that very same world? Actually, never mind, it's like I already know the answer—people who apologize to the aggressor instead of acting like proud members of the human race don't deserve anything better.

I really don't want to go off-topic here, but this question is way too important to leave hanging, so here it goes...

Just so I'm not speaking without doing my homework, I checked what an excellent old veteran had to say about this topic... she mentions the Republican Party's decision to waive jurisdiction for the international court over those specific operations, but she fails to mention the Democratic Party's decision to waive their waiver... and why? Because the second one isn't even relevant... and why isn't it relevant?

The veteran sees waiving jurisdiction as nothing more than a timeout—a limited window of time, a delay in filing indictments for a set period—and she argues that this timeout wasn't utilized. She thinks we should have used that borrowed time to investigate and process potential crimes ourselves, which would have allowed us to counter or even debunk the indictments being built during that period...

Well, the Republican Party didn't want to do that, and the Democratic Party couldn't because they were terrified of being branded as traitors... so, for the Democrats, that timeout wasn't necessary, and they essentially gave it up...

So why is the veteran talking about a timeout? See, when someone challenges a court's jurisdiction over a case, a mechanism is triggered to decide if that court actually has authority... and just like anything else in the legal system, that takes time. While that procedure is moving along, time passes... that elapsed time is the timeout that, in our case, went completely unused...

And what would have happened during that timeout? Some governing body would have reviewed the situation and made a ruling on whether the international court had jurisdiction over those operations... I have no clue which body it would have been—maybe the court itself or the UN Security Council—but I do know what the ruling would have been. There was only one likely outcome: the international court would be deemed the rightful authority for those operations...

That's why the veteran is right when she says challenging the jurisdiction was just a temporary pause that, unfortunately, was wasted...

The blame for that lies with the Republican Party, not the Democrats... trying to pin this on the Democrats is just another sneaky way to score political points and mislead innocent people... 🙂
briskbison55 said:Look, it's pretty obvious you're just a kid, if I don't say something else. There are literally endless threads here about jurisdiction over Operation Storm and Flash, the International Criminal Court, the whole dynamic between the prosecution and the defense... so just go read them. I honestly can't be bothered with you; you aren't being funny or smart.

There are, but they’re either totally naive or written strictly from a Republican Party perspective... because honestly, it's either incredibly gullible or politically sneaky to think—or suggest—that the International Criminal Court isn't allowed to investigate and prosecute the very things it was actually created for, just because some state handed them a scrap of paper that basically says "no-no"...😁
briskbison55 said:Nah. I mean, nobody stole anything from me, and no one ever scammed me. Well, except maybe that Democratic Party coalition that handed over jurisdiction over Bljesak and Olujna to the Hague. Aside from that—ladies and gentlemen, you have to realize that the United States didn't even exist in its current form twenty years ago; we actually did pretty well transitioning from total chaos and dictates from Mexico City to full independence in such a tiny window of time. I guess the growing pains lasted way less time than America itself did.

Then you can rest easy knowing that's just some Republican Party talking point... I mean, seriously, like the Hague wouldn't even be looking into those operations if we hadn't basically rolled out the red carpet for them... I don't know what kind of parallel universe you're living in where that makes sense... 😁

I just feel bad for that 30-40% of the population that keeps voting for them year after year... actually, I feel bad for all of us, because we're the ones paying the price for those folks' mistakes...

Both of them are absolute hazards behind the wheel—dangerous for pedestrians, dangerous for everyone else on the road. Period.☕

I know this guy who had his doctors tell him that, because of some issues with his eyesight, it wouldn't be a great idea to drive around at night once he eventually gets his license... and you know what he decided?
