Slim Shady did the exact same thing, but I still got a warning in Feedback & Suggestions ·

whether it's regarding religion or any other sub-forum

I really don't want to get bogged down in the specifics of how moderators are appointed, but I honestly can't stop thinking about how the higher-ups handle the mods... it's wild. Back when I was a moderator myself, I actually got called out by management just because I issued a single warning to someone—and get this—not even to the person I warned, but to some completely different user who decided to rebel against it... 🙏

When you compare that to rowdyhawk10—who basically doesn't even read the posts and just hands out bans whenever someone reports them, making him an overall pretty terrible moderator—nobody from the top brass even gives him a little nudge... it's night and day, really... 🙂

So, once again, I'm asking the moderators of this subreddit to please just lock this thread... it isn't serving any purpose anymore, except for people who were banned by rowdyhawk10 to use it as a way to vent...

Drew Bennett2 said:So, let's just assume for a moment that it really was a political move back in the 70s 🙄. Even so, we have learned so much more about human psychology and sexuality since then. Now that we actually account for that modern understanding, you have to wonder how it was even remotely possible for homosexuality to be listed as a disorder in the DSM in the first place?

Yeah, I think you're hitting the nail on the head regarding the whole chicken-or-the-egg situation... whether religious and cultural biases forced it onto the list, which then led to political pressure to take it off, or whatever else went down...

As for all this "new research" people talk about, I’m pretty skeptical, if I’m being honest—mostly because politics surrounding sexuality feels way more intense now than it did back in the seventies... it seems like people either avoid the topic entirely because they're afraid of stumbling onto something uncomfortable, or if something *does* get "discovered," it’s always framed in a way that pushes a specific agenda... at the end of the day, it all feels a bit disconnected from actual science, doesn't it?... anyway...

Drew Bennett2 said:A little hint: maybe the professionals responsible for the very PDF being discussed 🤷.

It really would be helpful to understand the actual reasoning behind why it was removed from the list of disorders—if that removal was driven more by political maneuvering than by actual science... I mean, the article itself isn't exactly neutral, it's definitely got a bias, but there's still plenty of useful info to dig through here:

Awareness is vital, sure.
But how exactly do you reach the crowd that still views homosexuality as some kind of pathology—people who don't even grant that specific "profession" any legitimacy or legal standing in the first place?🤷
Most folks know the term "homophobia" exists, but I highly doubt anyone is going to look in the mirror and admit, "Yeah, I'm a homophobe."

Personally, I find concepts like internalized homophobia much more compelling to unpack right now.

What profession are we talking about here? Psychiatrists? You know, the American Psychiatric Association—the very group that was responsible for being the first to finally strip homosexuality off their list of mental disorders...

Honestly, everyone who was talking trash about Crvar is eating their words now—suddenly he's some kind of savior 😁 even if Kopljar is still holding down that starting spot, but hey...

It was pretty obvious how much they actually cared about Lino when they started acting all high and mighty—it vanished faster than a summer breeze...

Is it okay to post private messages? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Kiki said:Are you talking about this?

I honestly think it’d be a lot smarter if you just asked whether sending abusive messages is actually allowed—though, let's be real, this isn't your first rodeo. You already caught a permanent ban—totally deserved, too—over at Photography Forum. Nobody is "harassing" you anymore with rules you clearly have zero interest in following anyway. Your outbursts aren't being triggered by anything... they're just happening. I'm not even really addressing you directly here, but your whole situation, much like how you acted over at Photography Forum, is pretty much done and dusted. I truly don't understand why you feel the need to keep sending these nasty messages... I really don't. And hey, if you're going to keep doing it, just know they might end up getting posted publicly. Or are you just hoping people won't see your true colors? ☕

Nah... well, at least that was how things worked back in my day—you could say just about anything in the PMs, and a mod (or anyone else, really) wasn't allowed to post them or punish you for them...

That biopic aired on federal TV last night...

I was actually able to compare it to those other old partisan war movies—they’re doing a whole marathon of them on NBC right now—and honestly? Most of those classics like Battle of the Bulge or similar stuff felt like they were just cardboard ideological constructs... but Vrdoljak's film? It's made of blood and bone. A real movie...

Sadly, you won't see this one on NBC, though, because Vrdoljak basically pulled strings to make sure it stays off the air...
Banned from the Alternative community??? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
electricangler22 said:I get what Melissa Watson4 is saying, but bans have specific durations. That’s why I’m asking—please, just send me a message stating how long this lasts and why. This whole explanation feels totally unacceptable and sets a bad precedent for everyone else on Alternative. It seems like the mods either just cover for each other or push their own agendas to lift or enforce bans. Even though dustyharbor18 was the one who handed out the ban, the other mods should be able to step in and provide a clear reason and an end date. As it stands, it looks like if someone starts thinking too much for themselves or stops agreeing with the "official" logic (not pointing fingers at anyone specifically here), they can cause serious damage to the owner and the entire community. That's why you don't just have one single mod running things on any Alternative site, whether it's politics, spirituality, or any other section. Moderators have the authority to answer our questions, and besides, there are supermods there to oversee them. So, I’m asking politely: please let me know the duration and the reason. I don't think I'm asking for much.

yeah, sure, a partial ban might have a set timeframe, but it’s not really like the other bans—honestly, it feels more like an eschatological eternity... 😉

Accountability for what, though?

I’m just dropping in here to share a few thoughts as someone who pops by this thread every now and then...

I’ve been catching up on the last ten pages of suggestions from the moderators... and honestly? It feels like we're watching censorship being rolled out right before our eyes. The real issue here—the main thing throwing everything into disarray—is the moderator. Their whole approach is just so aggressive, using a tone that really doesn't belong here... plus, they basically admitted themselves that they "moderate" the topic specifically to monitor what's happening, but if you ask me, it feels more like they're just stirring the pot to create chaos...

It’s actually pretty sad to see things heading in this direction on the forum—really quite sad... 🙄

I’ve honestly tried everything I can to flag the mods, sub-mods, and admins about how rowdyhawk10 is just doing whatever they want—it feels so biased and, frankly, pretty amateurish—but nothing sticks... there’s really only one way to look at this, and since I have zero interest in dealing with someone so stubborn, I’m stepping away from the religion subreddits for a while... at least until things actually start looking up...

Can the PZ moderators please just lock this thread... 🙂

Look, you don't need to be out here trying to maintain some kind of "balance"—that’s really not your job description... You’re a moderator, which means your actual duty is just making sure people aren't breaking the forum rules or ignoring the guidelines in the PDFs... It’s more than obvious that you’re playing favorites here, favoring one group while letting others slide—even when those first folks are flagrantly violating the rules, much like how Drew Reed6 operates... I've actually mentioned this before, honestly, just so someone doesn't end up being kicked over to a different platform before they even get hit with a partial ban...
