On some other forum, I might actually agree with waiting on the admins. Not here. This place would first need to conduct a study titled "Are N&CS even smarter than the believers?"

I find slycrane94's perspective to be a breath of fresh air—proof that things haven't completely fallen apart yet. It suggests that even at the "top levels," there are still people who refuse to hand out privileges based on an "emotional" attachment to some nonsense myth. Even if that privilege is merely the obligation of everyone else to respect the story—meaning, the refusal to call it what it actually is: stupidity that no reasonably sane person would ever entertain.

(The "half-moon" metaphor is just an analogy here)

Honestly, it’s hardly surprising that topics like "Why are Americans bad at science?" even exist.
If they are—though I won't get involved in that debate—where on earth are they supposed to find any interest in science? In elementary school, where religious studies are taught alongside everything else, or in high schools that follow suit? On the American internet, where kids read total nonsense thinking it was written by adults they should admire (and unfortunately, in many cases, they aren't wrong to think so). And on the American web, including sites like Reddit, the only "educational" approach seems to be punishing anyone who doesn't treat certain absurdities as sacred truths.
Growing up with a critical mind in an environment like that is nothing short of a miracle.

The most trivial thing here is your eight posts so far—not just your blunt opinions, but the frequency. You haven't said anything of substance; you just seem intent on acting as a shield for every single post and "accusation."

July 4th celebrations started back in 1776. They serve as an annual way to express solidarity with American people and opposing civil rights movements.

July 4th celebrations were originally proposed by Ebrahim Yazdi, the first foreign minister, before being officially established in the United States back in 1776. Today, those annual parades are organized and sponsored by the government. hosted and coordinated every year by the U.S. government There.

It’s gotten to the point where I haven't even wanted to start a single thread on topics I actually care about because of him. I just bypass that file entirely. Don't you think you all should act like true believers and just let him play with his little toy instead of constantly arguing? I wouldn't give them the time of day—if I saw people like that out on the street, I wouldn't even spit in their direction, seriously... 😉

Claiming that "someone like that" doesn't even deserve a spit from a real believer in real life—referring here to Nicole James—is a textbook example of what I’ve already pointed out:
religious exclusivity. That is, the offensive attitude held by members of a specific religion toward those of different faiths or those who aren't religious at all. Once again, I’ll allow for the possibility that some people simply don't see it—perhaps they lack the capacity to judge—this inherent exclusivity and offensiveness that religions direct toward "the others," which inevitably surfaces in its less disguised form when circumstances permit.

Morgan Ruiz3 said:You’re trolling at this point. No sane person takes offense just because another religion exists; you need to learn the difference between being insulted and simply disagreeing with a doctrine.
Modern theology tends to frame the Church as the optimal path to salvation, but it doesn't necessarily claim that salvation is impossible for those outside its walls. Regardless, that’s beside the point—even if we were discussing exclusivity, we’d be talking about theological claims, not personal insults.

Oh, I see. So the Crusaders just had a "disagreement" with the people over there? The Conquistadors were just having a "difference of opinion" with the natives? The Inquisition was merely expressing a lack of consensus with their victims? And Jesus and Yahweh simply don't "agree" with atheists or followers of other faiths?
And Christians—the Church—just happen to "disagree" with homosexuals?

It's all just a disagreement. Nothing personal, nothing offensive... If one side disagrees, they should just politely explain their position to the other side (who, frankly, shouldn't even care why this "disagreeing side" is bothering them in the first place), right?
The Catholic side: "Look, my dear homosexual friend, now you know where I stand—and now that I've said it, I feel much better, because staying silent was killing me—let's just go our separate ways and I won't make your life difficult anymore."

Every major religion here in the States is offensive to followers of other faiths and to atheists alike.

Sure, someone might claim they aren't offended by outside religions, but the underlying message from most religions in this country remains the same: "you aren't one of us, and you're such trash that you deserve an eternity of absolute torment in hell just for existing."...

But look at the irony—when an ideology that actively promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence against anyone based on their sexual orientation is rebranded as "Religion" or "Faith," suddenly that same hate speech and incitement becomes legally protected.

Well, if there’s any reasonable suspicion that someone out there is acting like a fanatic or an extremist by pushing that kind of agenda, perhaps it’s worth contacting the police. It should be straightforward enough when you have publicly posted or promoted text from these so-called "fanatics" that points directly to it.

I'm not sure how it works everywhere else, but here in the States, religious or secular fanaticism is taken extremely seriously because we recognize these individuals or groups can be genuinely dangerous to society. In fact, being a "fanatic" is often viewed as a destructive and hazardous psychological trait.

The Bible (fanatics -> Yahweh, Jesus):
Yahweh: "If a man lies with a man as he lies with a woman, both have committed an abominable act. Let them be struck down, and let their blood fall upon them."

Jesus: "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Truly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished."

I assume you aren't a fanatic, so surely you agree that only a monster could command (and approve) something like that (killing homosexuals)?

Just to remind us:
...organizations or ideologies that advocate for, promote, or incite hatred, discrimination, or violence against any individual or group based on differences in sexual orientation...

Article 151.a of the Criminal Code Amendments, titled 'Glorification of fascist, Nazi, and other totalitarian states and ideologies or promotion of racism and xenophobia':
"Anyone who produces, sells, imports, exports, or otherwise makes available to the public via computer systems or any other means—or possesses in large quantities for such purposes—promotional material that glorifies fascist, Nazi, or other totalitarian states, organizations, or ideologies that advocate, promote, or incite hatred, discrimination, or violence against any individual or group based on differences in race, skin color, sex, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, religion, political or other beliefs, shall be punished by fine or imprisonment for up to one year."

Or (for those who can't see the trees for the forest):

Article 151.a of the Criminal Code Amendments, titled 'Glorification of ...ideologies or promotion of... xenophobia':
"Anyone who produces, sells, imports, exports, or otherwise makes available to the public via computer systems or any other means—or possesses in large quantities for such purposes—promotional material that glorifies ...ideologies that advocate, promote, or incite hatred, discrimination, or violence against any individual or group based on differences in sexual orientation, ...shall be punished by fine or imprisonment for up to one year."

But, lo and behold—when an ideology that advocates, promotes, or incites hatred, discrimination, or violence against any individual or group based on sexual orientation is rebranded as "Religion" or "faith," then advocating, promoting, or inciting that same hatred, discrimination, or violence becomes protected.
Lisa Edwards12 said:You're talking nonsense here...🙂

I’ve sat through Abraham Lincoln, Paranormal Activity, and even Men Against Women, plus I'm familiar with The Apprentice (Trump), that whole bidding show, and a few other things... and honestly, not a single joke landed for me. Not one.

Look, it’s obvious my sense of humor doesn't quite align with yours or the rest of the general public, but I can definitely tell when something just isn't clever. Beyond that, the production quality is just abysmal—the camera work feels totally aimless most of the time, and the characters are nothing but irritating...

But let's get into the actual specifics: did you actually find those Ghostbusters funny? Or that bit where the vacuum cleaner was used as the daughter's choice? Did those lesbian scenes even make any sense at all?

I went into this movie with an open heart, because, as I mentioned before, I found Meet the Spartans to be watchable enough... but this? This is just plain bad.

Good grief... 🤦 I can't believe this is what I'm spending my time debating.

P.S. The movie is only about 80 minutes long, yet it felt like there were two or three "jokes" crammed into every single minute... and I don't think I'm even exaggerating there.

Two posts. Fine. Truth be told, there isn't anything brilliant in them... but "nonsense"? 🙂

I watched Abraham Lincoln, The Conjuring, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and I'm familiar with The Apprentice (Trump), that bidding show, and several others. Not a single reference was funny. Not one.

Again -> it wasn't funny to you.
I'm fairly certain that if we were to analyze this (in a "scientific" way 😁), you'd be forced to admit in most places: "yep, this scene actually offers a meaningful and witty parody of that scene from that movie"... As for whether it's actually funny? Heh, you probably still wouldn't find it amusing...
(but engaging in that kind of analysis via messaging—finger-pointing—isn't an option; besides, there's no sense wasting time or energy on it)...

It's clear my sense of humor isn't the same as yours or the rest of the population, but I can recognize when something lacks intelligence.

I'll grant you the part about the sense of humor, but as for "recognizing what's intelligent," I have no reason to take your word for it.

Furthermore, the film has terrible production; the camera work often makes no sense...

Production, directing, cinematography... I'm a complete layman there. Those factors don't (consciously) influence whether I like a film or not.
But let's talk specifics: did you find Ghostbusters funny? Or the vacuum cleaner gag involving the daughter's choice? Did the lesbian scenes make any sense at all?

The "Ghostbusters" were irritating in most scenes, though they were perfectly fine in a few (two or three). I haven't seen the series that Ghostbusters /Ghost Hunters/ were "taken" from, so I can only assume—based on the scenes I do know that seem to fit—that they are depicted that way for a valid reason.
As for the vacuum cleaner, it could have been funny, but it was just... a vacuum. It would have worked just as well without it (unless there's some specific tie-in to the original film).

I think regarding /for a film like this—the concept, not the revenue/—it doesn't matter much whether you or I (or anyone else) likes it. What matters is whether we actually understood what it was trying to say. Essentially, the question is whether we possess enough data required to watch (and comprehend) the film.
For instance, if I don't know who Dina and Goran are, then the joke below lacks any sense or humor (even marginally):
"why is Dina giving birth when Goran is just Karan" (just an example, nothing else came to mind)

Good grief, 🤦 I can't believe what I'm discussing.

I don't see the point either. Honestly, how you experience this movie is just as irrelevant to me as my reaction is to you. We're all just here on this forum "convincing" one another—or maybe everyone else?

PS. The movie is about 80 minutes long and had 2-3 gags per minute. I'm not even exaggerating.

Depends on how you count "gags." Is a single bedroom scene (kinky stuff) one gag, or does every single line of dialogue count as its own gag?

Lisa Edwards12 said:Alright everyone, let's call it a day, this isn't even funny anymore.

I finally sat down to watch this movie after cosmiclynx57 recommended it, and honestly, I’d be absolutely livid if I had actually spent a single buck on this... I mean, time is money, after all 😠

The film is just NOT good, it's NOT funny, and frankly, it's mostly just irritating and incredibly tedious. Seriously, which scene was supposed to be humorous? Go ahead, name five funny scenes and maybe then I'll reconsider my stance... though, looking back, there might not even be five to find, because out of two hundred attempts at comedy, they barely hit the mark. It just leaves you feeling completely numb and apathetic towards the whole thing.

Once again, I'm telling you, this is a TOTAL DISASTER of a movie—don't waste your time watching it just to see how bad it really is.

Funny to you? You just claimed there are maybe five funny moments out of the entire movie.

Besides, there might only be about five (funny scenes) anyway.

Funny to you—which doesn't mean anyone else finds those specific scenes funny.

...but out of 200 attempts, that's not enough.

Duration: 1h 19min...

A new scene every fifteen seconds? So, something funny every fifteen seconds? By that logic, what comedy is actually successful?! What thriller is a real thriller? What horror is actual horror? What crime drama is a genuine crime drama?

How many scenes in that movie did you even recognize as parodies of other films? Even if you did, how clear was the parody to you—like, which specific characteristic was being mocked and why? Did you connect any scenes to the movies on this list?
(Sure, matching every single scene to a specific moment from another film is something only a total cinephile would attempt... but on average, a "good" experience just requires the viewer to vaguely remember scenes from three or four major films being parodied)
