Everything they just changed? It’s going right back to how it was before, just you wait! 🙄
What exactly is a cult? in Spirituality ·
wiredcrane5 said:I think the whole debate popped up because some people genuinely believe there’s a "real" sect behind this school, like John actually runs some kind of organized group.
Others just see cult-like vibes and treat them like one...

If you stretch the definition of a cult, maybe you could call it that.

The whole phenomenon of this school is pretty interesting to me.

hhmmmhhhmm ...yeah, yeah, that's about it! So, here’s a quick little summary of our "cultish" manifesto....

anyone who isn't with us is against us, just like we are against them! anyone who isn't against us has a chance to join us, though they won't be themselves anymore! anyone who stands against us might not stay that way, but then they'll just be fighting against themselves! whoever stays with us won't know who they used to be, but they'll definitely know who we are! whoever stops knowing who they are won't even bother asking who they were, because they'll already know! ...there are a few more points to the list, but I'll save those for another time!

if anything was unclear, please reach out to our school secretary, Master Grizzly... eeee, and then you still won't understand a damn thing 🙄

now, cheers to all the sects out there! live long and prosper! 🙄 🙂
Sandra Palmer10 said:The less you think, the cleaner your mind is.😉

Look, the less crap you dump, the cleaner the toilet stays! But let’s be real, that toilet is literally sitting there specifically to take your sh*t... and that’s exactly what a mind is for too!

Besides, why on earth would you even want a "clean" mind in the first place?

🙂😉 😁
Joseph Davis5 said:"As one of those Chan masters once put it: Once you finally lay hands on it, you better guard it with your life."

You’re talking about the whole concept of enlightenment...
Man, around here among the real masters, we don't even bother wasting breath on that kind of talk! 😁

Everything you think you've gained, everything you think you actually possess—it's all just going to slip through your fingers again eventually!
Real enlightenment is the sudden, heavy realization that there isn't some "someone" out there capable of owning or holding onto anything at all... it's realizing that WHAT IS, simply IS, in every single moment, unconditionally, forever, as WHAT IS!

YEAH, WELL, I AM THE DEFINITION OF SELFISH! 🙂
Elizabeth Miller8 said:Look, ambereagle642... when I say Buddha, I’m not talking about Siddhartha Gautama here.
How can you possibly claim to know what you need to experience or what you don't? You simply can't. And if by some miracle you actually *do* think you know, then you're basically claiming to be a master master ever of the highest order 😉...(and honestly, the fact that you're even bragging about that is just ridiculous 😂)

Okay, fine, Buddha means "awakened."
But if that’s what "true" reality is, then you’ve got an awakened state without an "awakener," which means the person who was sleeping through life disappears during the awakening—even though the whole act of waking up is just another part of the dream itself... I mean, I'm not even sure what you were trying to get at with that one. But yeah, whatever. It's fine to just stay chill, I guess, since non-existent time does its own thing anyway...
😉
Elizabeth Miller8 said:...I mean, how are we supposed to judge if someone actually experienced 'THAT WHICH BUDDHA EXPERIENCED' just based on what they say? I've lost count of how many times I've posted this on this forum: you can have two different people saying or writing the EXACT SAME THING, yet one of them is a 'TRUE BUDDHA' while the other is just some loudmouth blowing smoke up everyone's ass...

The thing that Buddha experienced is his own damn problem, honestly.
Whatever you "experience," it isn't YOU! It’s the same deal with being YOURSELF—you don't need to go through some grand epiphany to achieve that. You are who you are at every single moment, even when you're doing something totally idiotic, and even when you're doing absolutely nothing at all. The quality of your actions is the only value that actually matters!

Go ask hiddenpuma75, he's a freaking GREAT-SAGE!
Karen Sanchez19 said:Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say you can actually "experience" it:

Because there isn't even a subject (an individual) doing the experiencing and an object being experienced...

In reality, nondual consciousness—the essence of ABSOLUTE consciousness—is what "makes" everything that exists, meaning it’s both the one experiencing and the thing that needs to be experienced...

🙂

So this guy thinks: NONDUAL CONSCIOUSNESS = THE BEING = ABSOLUTE CONSCIOUSNESS...

Man, do you honestly expect me to hand back that diploma you probably got through pure myth and corruption?!

When are you finally going to graduate from high school and move past these basic lessons they feed to the bottom-of-the-class students, just so you can claim that;
CONSCIOUSNESS is not ABSOLUTE, it isn't ABSOLUTE...

I mean, if you view manifested form as the beginning and the end of everything, then maybe that claim holds some weight, but since that's clearly not how it works, that little slogan is nothing more than a total, flying piece of nonsense!...

Honestly, I think you spend way too much time hanging out with that loser hiddenpuma75...

🙂 😁 🙂
Good grief, does hiddenpuma75 seriously think they know everything about the universe!?

relativity said:Ugh, seriously?! Why on earth didn't anyone bother telling me this sooner?!?! You have absolutely no idea how much easier you just made my life... I mean, deep down I think I knew it all along, but I just couldn't quite wrap my head around what you just laid out there. Seriously, thanks 👍 🙂

I'm glad to hear it!
And another thing;
maybe some "expert" or guru out there can help you shake off a few illusions here and there, but you really need to realize one thing;
no matter who you go to or where you look, nobody can take away from you, nor can they give you, what you already are!

Jonathan Brown6 said:Look, I'm just laying out my own perspective here, and I’m doing it under the assumption that what I'm saying is perfectly reasonable and right. Honestly, though, I'm mostly just trying to make sense of things for myself. If I stick to my own theory, I can pretty much shut down any argument someone might throw at me to prove I'm wrong. But then again, who am I to lecture anyone on what's "correct"? At the end of the day, everything just boils down to those core life beliefs we pick up over the years. Opinions shift, everyone sees the world through a different lens, and there's really no point in trying to convince someone else they're wrong when it's all just a matter of individual belief anyway. God, I'm such a self-important jerk...

Truth would be a pathetic thing if you actually had to go out and perform some task just to prove it exists.
Don't let yourself get "confused"! I mean, what is there even to say? You think... well, you're living your truth, so even "when you aren't," you still are!

placidharbor7 says :

You’re out here claiming that "there’s no talk of substance, because the subject (Consciousness) isn't a substance."

Does that mean CONSCIOUSNESS IS SOMETHING ELSE entirely, whatever that may be?

If it isn't "substance," then what on earth is it?

But before placidharbor7 even bothers to explain, he’s probably just going to hit you with something like—

CONSCIOUSNESS DOESN'T EVEN EXIST, truth seeker. ]

That’s exactly it; CONSCIOUSNESS IS NOT A SUBSTANCE!
SUBSTANCE IS WHAT CONSCIOUSNESS IS!

When you fail to find yourself in the 'formal' world (which is just nothingness-information) and then can't find yourself in the 'non-formal' either (nothingness-consciousness),
you end up abandoning the first possible experiential encounter with your own self in that 'pure being-light' (the very first naming) where every sense of being vanishes, and from that same eternal now-moment, this whole cycle of talking-creating and re-manifesting just keeps spinning over and over again...

relativity said:Man, I am completely and utterly lost here. Is it even possible to debunk every single claim out there... is there actually such a thing as right and wrong? God... philosophy is starting to turn my stomach, because right now it feels like nothing more than a cheap word game, just empty rhetoric. Honestly, I’m going to go focus on things in life that actually matter. Philosophy is just leading me straight into a ditch and pulling me away from the real world.

Being confused is usually a good sign. Or maybe it isn't? How many summers has he wasted on this stuff so far?
Watch out for the TRUTH, because it's a dangerous beast, and once you face it, "you" won't be able to survive—and I don't just mean you, but the "me," the world, or anything else for that matter! The stakes are seriously massive.

ambereagle642 said:Everything you guys are arguing about right now feels just as real as someone trying to convince me we’re all living in the Matrix... I mean, is there actually a definitive truth out there, or is this all just one big leap of faith? Honestly, I don't even know what to think anymore, everything feels like it's just falling apart... I'm seriously losing my grip on philosophy here. You gotta try living like a regular person instead of some armchair philosopher, because right now, that's the only thing I'm banking on...

Whether you call it the Matrix or "The System" or whatever else helps you sleep at night... once you take that first hit of reality, things start to settle down a bit 😁 You just have to realize that you aren't some cog stuck inside the machine, but rather the very source from which the whole damn system emerges...
Eventually, you stop fighting it and just see the whole mess as this absurd little game played by a bunch of impersonal actors... and suddenly, everything is fine!

Elizabeth Miller8 said:Look, did she actually do something to you or not? It’s all just fate playing out exactly how it’s supposed to... we're all just dealing with the fallout from things we said or thought way back when, so everything is already written in stone.

Just point me to ONE SINGLE PERSON who is actually suffering for something they did, and then maybe I'll start believing this nonsense!?
And what even counts as "suffering" in this ridiculous logic of yours?

We always put Raman in the category of enlightened masters...

I can’t for the life of me remember which page it was on, but I swear Ivancek once claimed that even Raman’s teachings couldn't hold a candle to his own enlightened school of thought. Honestly, I think he only said it because apparently Raman used to pray to some Indian deity or something like that...

🙄
Master John said:Look, Master John has gone on record here plenty of times saying some seriously intense stuff...

One of those takes is that Buddha wasn't actually ENLIGHTENED in any real sense of the word.

Because if he actually was, there’s no way he would have ended up as the leader of the BUDAPEST movement.

And honestly, it’s the exact same story with Christ Nazarene and Muhammad Kamilek.

All three of them just ended up being totally mentally scattered in the end...

Can we please just move this conversation over to the school forum?👋

You're absolutely spot on, John!😁

I honestly have no clue how anyone could still take you seriously at this point...
Spin it however you want and make it look however you need to. You know damn well what I meant...
redrider63 said:THAT thing speaks in all sorts of different LANGUAGES, STYLES, AND PERSONALITIES, but if you actually ARE, then
YOU(THAT) notice it in THAT which lies BEYOND THE WORDS, BEYOND THE STYLES, BEYOND THE PERSONALITIES

ALTHOUGH IT WOULD PROBABLY BE BETTER TO JUST SAY "THAT" AND SEE

rather than asking for more translations of her... 👋

Man, I am totally on board with what you’re saying here.
But with John, don't even bother trying that approach—seriously, it's impossible for anyone to give him any kind of credit unless they're talking about him specifically or at least some little protégé of his (you know, one of those students he's constantly coddling)...

And for him, even here, he's just dismissing the much-praised Raman as nothing more than some ignorant guy who calls himself a Truth seeker. 🙄

As for the translation stuff; what we have here is just a condensed snippet of her life story (which makes it pretty tough to pull anything meaningful out of the whole description right now, since you really need the full arc from start to finish to get the complete picture), basically describing that moment where the Self starts to vanish and all those questions, feelings, experiences, and doubts... that she just gets blindsided by without any warning.
Caught between fundamentalist Christian theology and the raw reality of what she actually experienced, she ends up having to adapt to this new situation, leading to some pretty wild new insights and ways of looking at everything she was previously taught or thought she knew.

I'll say it again; this book
is something I’d recommend to absolutely everyone... yeah, even to you. 😁 🙂
