haha "best on the grid"—man, that's rich!

Seriously though, good joke, gotta hand it to you. 🙂

I mean, the guy is in a car that was sitting P3 in qualifying, yet he's still trailing the leaders by a full lap. 😁

Ferrari really dropped the ball on this one.

stormybadger8 said:I was really praying that Vettel would just handle this himself—but honestly, nope. We ran into those annoying technical glitches and bad luck right at the start of the season, and then, well, everything just went completely sideways again later on.😢

Honestly, I think you're taking a bit too much of the blame here—just like back in 2009.

That's never going to get us a headline—not happening!

stormybadger8 said:Lewis Hamilton basically had that win handed to him by the McLaren pit crew and a super sensible Jenson Button—it definitely wasn't Webber or Sebastian Vettel's to lose. Honestly, what were you even watching during the Turkey race? 😬

Did you catch that team radio after they told Lewis Hamilton he needed to slow down? He actually asked if Jenson Button was going to try and make a move on him—it was such a tense moment!

The pit wall told him no—but look at that, Button's pulled it off anyway!

Of course—Lewis Hamilton fired back and took care of Button!

And now we’re hitting that part where everything is a total mystery—we just can't know yet!

Did Button have enough fuel left to make an attack—or would we have seen a situation where Hamilton had to park his car because he ran dry? I mean, there's no way they would have let Button go for it at that point! 😁

stormybadger8 said:Turkey - Hamilton was just slower on track - the team told Jenson Button he needed to save fuel☕

Not quite... I think Button actually had maybe one extra lap of fuel, so he could have pushed at max for an extra lap if he wanted to.

It’s a shame—with rules like these, they basically reward playing it safe, while any real, hard-fought battle ends up getting penalized...

rustystag7 said:Hey cosmicridge5—look, it’s all good! I totally respect you jumping down my throat like that over the Severina thing—no hard feelings at all.

Comparing that ice-cold Australian to that little whiner is like saying the forum background is yellow—it just doesn't even make sense!

Every single time things go south, that guy just completely falls apart... honestly—it's becoming a bit of a pattern!

I still can't get over that moment when Gordon behaved like Mark Webber was the crazy one—just because he didn't move out of the way! Such a classic. 🙄

Look, let me be clear—if there’s anyone here actually being objective, it’s me. I don't really root for either side—just here for the ride!

Look, I’m definitely rooting for someone here—I'm certainly not out to root against Fernando Alonso! 🤷

Oh, and I was also thinking about sending my resume over to Red Bull—maybe they'll hire me just so there’s at least one person on the team actually rooting for Mark Webber! 🤷

It’s honestly kind of wild how that cold-blooded Aussie can be such a crybaby—meanwhile, you've got Sebastian Vettel, who is always talking about grit, yet he just doesn't seem to have it. 😁

cosmicridge5, you really cracked me up! 🙏

Look, cosmicridge5—a guy like that just can't be called a coward. He’s either a total kamikaze or a straight-up killer—I mean, you can say anything else about him, but he's definitely not some soft, sensitive type!

I'm not even sure how you stumbled onto this Formula 1 forum—honestly, claiming Sebastian Vettel is more of a softie than Mark Webber is easily one of the funniest things I've ever read.

Honestly, it feels like Mark Webber has been complaining since the day he entered Formula 1—just a constant stream of gripes!

Man, they love to talk trash about everyone else—meanwhile, they’re out there making the exact same ridiculous mistakes themselves. It's actually kind of wild!

So, they're actually nervous about driving if the track gets even a little bit damp—and honestly, after what we saw, I can't say I blame them! 🙂

rustystag7 said:If you look closely enough, every top-tier team seems to have their own little drama queen...

Just looking at the lineup—every single powerhouse has one of those types...

Red Bull has Sebastian Vettel, McLaren has Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari has that idiot Fernando Alonso, and Williams has Barrichello.

You totally forgot Mercedes! Is that because they only have one diva in the whole crew? 🤣

Douglas Parker61 said:I never actually thought that—it was just because of the username. Honestly, I haven't met a single person who roots for Kimi Räikkönen without also having massive respect for Lewis Hamilton.

Come on, don't be ridiculous

Kimi Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton were easily the two most dominant drivers on the track over the last decade—hands down.

Anyone who truly appreciates Kimi Räikkönen can't help but admire Lewis Hamilton, especially considering how he went toe-to-toe with Fernando Alonso right out of the gate during his rookie season.

stormybadger8 said:Man, things are starting off so messy—I’m honestly worried they won't recover😢

It looks like our perennial "future world champion" might be in trouble😢

The kid just has zero luck—nothing but DNFs, breakdowns, and stupid calls working against him—it's unreal. Even so, I’m still rooting for him, he’s such a talent🙏

Check this out:
Lewis Hamilton overtakes the unnamed and the unnamed on track—thank goodness the FIA didn't hand him a trophy for it
Mark Webber just dives into everyone and everything—and the FIA doesn't even blink, no penalty, no investigation at all
Fernando Alonso pulling that absolute nonsense by whining about needing Felipe Massa to let him past—he gets passed, and the FIA’s response is basically handing him the championship on a silver platter🤦
Sebastian Vettel losing his car while trying to pass Jenson Button and getting a penalty that makes zero sense to me (why didn't anyone else get one? Like when Webber went flying over the unnamed?)—and then that whole mess with the Safety Car. You could clearly see it: Webber guns it to create a gap, the Safety Car turns its lights off at the worst possible second. That was easily one of the dumbest Safety Car deployments of the season. The race leader gets penalized instantly through some quick procedure, unlike Hamilton, where it took them half the race to figure out if he actually overtook the Safety Car or not🙏

Like someone mentioned earlier in this thread, Jenson Button probably deserved the title more than anyone—it’s a real shame he wasn't a faster driver or willing to take a few more risks sometimes😢
But Sebastian Vettel is definitely the runner-up behind Button.

For the sake of Formula 1, Vettel should have already been forced to yield in this race
Not just to wipe out his advantage, but to put Ferrari under way more pressure

Unfortunately, because the FIA has been playing favorites with Ferrari for years, nobody can force a correction. If Alonso is supposed to be seven points behind, the only way Webber can negate that is if Vettel gets hammered

So, unless Alonso stays ahead of Webber until the final race, this championship isn't worth a dime

But hey, like mistybear87 said, THAT'S FORMULA 1!!!!111!1

rowdytinker3 said:I'll just say this—if Fernando Alonso were driving for Red Bull Racing, the season would be incredibly boring because we'd know who the champ was way ahead of time.
Sebastian Vettel or Mark Webber would be fighting tooth and nail against Ferrari for the title.
Alonso is definitely pulling off miracles right now—he's showing everyone he's the best driver on the grid at the moment, and by some margin too.☕

Honestly, after getting outclassed by Lewis Hamilton back at McLaren, and all that drama over the team wanting to move on from Felipe Massa—if he were in a Red Bull seat with an even stronger teammate this year, he'd be back to complaining on the team radio, kicking the doors of the motorhome, and demanding they install a referee in the pits just to ensure "fairness."

So, it's not that Alonso isn't the best driver—it's just that he's lucky if he can even stay in the top three.

stormybadger8 said:What's the point in swapping Mark Webber's helmet with Sebastian Vettel's and putting Vettel in Webber's car instead?🙄

He’s got no one to blame—the kid was just faster than him in qualifying--it happens!
He’s got no one to blame—the kid was just faster during the race too
He’s got no one to blame for that mess back in Korea

Seriously though, what are you guys even getting at?🤷

And he's still ahead of Sebastian Vettel... man, that kid is actually incredible, LOL

Still no championship though, right?

So, is this kid finally going to take home a win?

Morgan Murphy7 said:Fernando Alonso is doing absolute magic with this junker of a car—seriously! If he actually manages to snag another championship title, it’ll be the most well-deserved win in Formula 1 since 2006. 🙏

If they pull off the championship with less than an 8-point lead—honestly, I mean it—it would be the most undeserved win in the history of any sport. Just saying!

Plus, Alonso’s been running the third fastest car on the grid all year long—it's pretty impressive, honestly!

And man, those jokes about the car being a total junk heap? Those are definitely the best ones—honestly, they kill me! 😁

It’s kind of like how things were at Renault after McLaren—sort of like what Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button went through at McLaren this year.

This year, there’s one car that the entire Ferrari team is throwing everything they've got behind—it's definitely a far cry from those old days of just scraping by!

stormybadger8 said:Pata, honestly—Mark Webber was just clearly slower, and he basically threw Sebastian Vettel out of a real title fight. It was Webber who actually let the Red Bull Racing crew down in Turkey—Sebastian Vettel did everything he could, but he was just slower than Vettel in that race in Turkey, and he basically screwed over both Vettel and the whole team, ruining his championship shot. Plus, he pulled that same stunt last year when Vettel managed to snatch the title away—it was wild—and now they're basically handing him the trophy on a silver platter just so the champion comes from the Red Bull Racing lineup, even though he doesn't even care about that team anymore anyway.🙄

Well, dear Pata, I think it all boils down to pure commercialism and Red Bull Racing's marketing machine—it has absolutely nothing to do with actual sports. Forget those stories about it being okay to let a slower teammate pass for the good of the team; no real athlete is ever going to do that. If they do, they become a jerk—a massive jerk. Maybe not in the eyes of the team owners or the die-hard fans, but in their own eyes? Definitely. Every single time they look in the mirror for the rest of their lives, they’ll be thinking, "Yeah, I'm a total jerk."☕

You're looking at this all wrong.

To fight against jerks like Ferrari and Fernando Alonso, you might just have to become a jerk yourself, unfortunately.

Sebastian Vettel should have let Mark Webber pass way earlier today.

The way they handled it, they've seriously tanked their chances at the driver's championship.

Edward Howard2 said:I still think he's the best driver on the grid right now, even compared to Alonso.

So basically, you're saying he's just 3rd or 4th best—since there's no way Alonso isn't the top guy.

The real best drivers don't spend their time whining over the team radio because their teammate beat them out.

stormybadger8 said:So Jenson Button is still suffering in silence—I honestly thought you’d be rooting for the magnificent Schumacher now that he's back.😁

As for the pit stop situation, poor little Lewis Hamilton drove such a textbook race, and even that pass through the box... I really have no clue what went wrong with Vettel.🤷
I mean, seriously, coming out ahead of Hamilton like that? It's embarrassing. He knows he needs to clear out when Hamilton is on track—he definitely should've just braked and let him go.
In fact, we need to penalize anyone who dares to be faster than Hamilton, whether they overtake him or try to. We need a rule for that immediately!😬

Don't be ridiculous... he just needed to drive straight and he would've come out ahead of him... that move by Vettel into Hamilton is easily one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. And well... nothing from Vettel again this year, huh?

Keep dreaming, lol

So, who are you pulling for this season? — I'm still trying to decide! 🤷

I know exactly who I need to call out—just gotta figure out the right target!😬🤣

It’s honestly hard not to lose it when some idiot cuts someone off in the pit lane—especially when there was clearly enough room for another car to pass safely—but thank God nobody actually got hurt. As for the fans, it’s always McLaren through and through, so you can go ahead and hide under your bed now! 😁

He's got a killer car and he usually shines when it rains, yet he’s just invisible during the actual race. It happens to him way too often... part of me wonders if he's actually got what it takes to be a world champ (even though I'm rooting for him!).

Lewis was running about 2.3 seconds faster per lap during those stretches, so I don't see anything particularly amazing about how Lewis made his move..☕
Actually, staying stuck behind Grandpa for that long in such a dominant car should probably be a bit worrying..😁

Like someone mentioned over on the BBC, they just gave him way too much respect... besides that, Jenson Button definitely deserved the win more than Lewis today. The main thing is that they managed to push McLaren back to the top!
China's economy: What's the move? in Formula 1 ·
haha why are you guys whining about Lewis Hamilton? if we're talking risky moves, Vettel was the one pushing him right into the crowd in the middle of the pit lane

McLaren 1-2

leading both the constructors' and the drivers' standings

btw where's that funny Horner who was being so hilarious after qualifying... bwahahaha
