Wild Tales: The Omnibus Collection in Movies ·
It’s an exceptional film, though I suspect the third segment—the one involving those two men and their cars—is arguably the most compelling 😁. I found the penultimate story to be somewhat lacking, if I'm being honest.

Given the options, which of these scenarios feels like something that could actually manifest in our reality, and which strikes you as being entirely impossible?
They all feel rather surreal, even if none of them strictly fall under the umbrella of science fiction, I suppose.
I suppose Death Cab for Cutie are the next ones on the list to be confirmed.
Honestly, I’m not particularly interested in anything beyond Placebo right now, though they haven't even announced the headliners for the other two days yet, which represents barely a third of the full lineup. I suppose I’m hoping the overall programming will actually be worth the hassle $100. If Placebo were performing alone, I doubt the ticket price would drop below $200, so $33 seems reasonable enough given the rest of the roster, especially if they manage to book another couple of acts on the level of Placebo in terms of popularity.
I had a pretty good time myself. It’s difficult to draw a direct comparison between this show and the one from two years ago, though I suppose they were roughly on par. I was actually quite pleased that the setlist felt fresh; they leaned heavily into new material, and even the older tracks weren't just a repeat of what they played at the Fillmore, which I appreciated. That said, it felt as if certain instruments were somewhat drowned out by the guitars, making them hard to catch. I can't be sure if I was just standing in a bad spot or if that's simply how they sound live, I guess. All in all, I don't regret it at all, and if they tour the States again, I'd probably go a third time. And maybe I'll try to storm the stage at the end of the show 😁.
I suppose they’ve finally posted the full lineup on their website.

I suppose I feel the same way 😢.
Right in the middle of finals week, too. But honestly, who cares, I'm heading to 🙂

Has it really been two years since the factory opened? I guess it's hard to believe.

I found it to be alright, nothing particularly groundbreaking, though certainly worth a watch if you have the time. Visually, it’s quite striking, even if the plot leans into some rather silly territory that I suppose is somewhat tolerable. As far as the cast goes, Kiefer Sutherland was probably the standout for me. For the most part, I think nimblemason3 gave a pretty solid breakdown of the film, though I might personally nudge the rating up just a tiny bit—perhaps a 6.5.

Kristen Stewart—I suppose I mistakenly assumed her talent was tied specifically to Twilight, but she doesn't seem to offer much more than that, either.

It’s even more glaring when you notice how many times they crash during that chase, yet the car remains somehow pristine🤣. There is this one specific moment where you see a collision cause visible damage, but then the very next shot shows that exact same panel looking factory-fresh. I suppose that's just standard Hollywood logic for action flicks, which might not be a dealbreaker for some, but here it’s so blatant that it feels somewhat ridiculous.
If I had to narrow it down, my top five would probably be The Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and Schindler's List.
I didn't include The Godfather Part II because I suppose I try to avoid listing two films from the same franchise, and The Return of the King isn't included since it’s arguably the weakest of the Lord of the Rings trilogy; if the first or second installments were an option, they might have made the cut.
Olympus Has Fallen (2013) in Movies ·
White House Down might already be out in theaters by now, if it hasn't finished its run entirely. I suppose it’s better than this one, so maybe give it a look if you ended up liking this 🙂

I suppose I find his entire filmography to be passable; personally, I’ve always felt Borat was his peak, so this one might just sit in second place for me. It certainly leans into some mindless gags and can feel somewhat exhausting at times, though I suspect the stronger moments tend to outweigh the weaker ones.

I haven't seen the first one yet, though I suppose after watching this, I might actually be inclined to.

Look, the first installment is at least just as good, I think.🙂.

I caught White House Down recently. It’s arguably better than the other one. Not by a huge margin, mind you—it’s still just an action flick designed for mindless popcorn consumption, complete with plot holes, impossible scenarios, and far too much patriotism—but I suppose it’s more entertaining and executed with a bit more style than Olympus Has Fallen. If you enjoyed OHF, you might find this one worth a watch since it's slightly superior, though if you only have time for one movie about a siege on The White House, White House Down is probably the better bet.🙂

It honestly looks like one of those movies with massive potential that ultimately ends up being wasted. Though, I suppose I might be wrong😁.

Sure, this movie is a disaster, but I suppose we should probably consider the vast majority of Steven Seagal, Dolph Lundgren, or Chuck Norris films. They’ve put out plenty of absolute garbage that managed to be far more successful than this. This one just seems to sit somewhere in that mediocre middle ground for those "turn your brain off and grab some popcorn" nights.

Anyway, since everyone seems so deeply invested in arguing about this particular flick, you might want to keep in mind that this is hitting theaters soon:

It's a film by Roland Emmerich, a guy who basically specializes in catastrophe movies, covering the exact same theme—so I guess we'll just have to see who does a better job of tearing down the White House and who manages to look more patriotic.😁.

After Earth (2013) in Movies ·
The movie is just okay, I suppose—barely mediocre. It clearly had potential, but it really should have been better. The acting feels forced at times, and the plot is riddled with holes, though I guess the visuals are fine even if they aren't spectacular. To be fair, the opening is decent enough and introduces some potentially interesting sci-fi elements. However, the final act—roughly from the moment that kid gets trapped by the bird until the credits roll—is a complete disaster; in my opinion, it really should have taken a much different direction. On a scale of 1 to 5, I’d give it a 2.

Anyway, does anyone happen to know how it's performing at the box office? I heard some talk about a sequel if this one does well🤷.
I don't know, looking at what they've released, it seems a bit thin for a three-day lineup, so I suppose there might be more acts to come; the real question is whether they'll bring in another major headliner or if they'll just fill the gaps with relatively unknown names and various DJ sets.
