If that isn't an option, how would I go about activating it without receiving any updates at all?

Just type "activator for Windows 7" into Google...

I can't exactly hand over a direct link here, but you'll figure it out soon enough... 👍

sysprep /generalize
slmgr.vbs –rearm

slmgr /rearm

This essentially resets the counter. Since you can run the rearm command up to three times on a single machine, you could theoretically stretch out that grace period to about 120 days total... assuming everything goes according to plan.

But even then, it isn't a permanent fix.

I have a question regarding the RTM version. Is there going to be any significant difference between this and the final retail release once it actually hits the shelves? And if I go ahead and activate it now, am I going to be forced to wipe the drive and reinstall Windows later...

David White40 said:So you're actually suggesting this is the legitimate RTM and it's been out there for ten days already? If that's the case, then Microsoft is dealing with some incredibly massive leaks..... 🙂

And what about the times when it wasn't? 😁

There is just one specific thing I cannot seem to get right; I want to move folders around on the drive just like you would move icons around on the desktop. When I drag a folder to a new spot, I want it to actually stay there instead of the system snapping it right back to its original position...
Right now, it keeps sorting everything alphabetically, so if I try to move a folder starting with "m" next to a folder starting with "c," it just forces it back into the "m" section along with all the others...

Does anyone know how to fix this setting?

Just rename it so it starts with "c" instead of "m," then you'll have "cm" and they'll sit right next to each other...😬

This part of the Windows Live suite is actually quite solid...

Does anyone have a working solution for a virtual drive? I just tried installing virtual CD, but it’s a total bust. alcohol isn't cooperating either. I managed to get PowerISO installed, but it won't actually accept the image when I try to mount it. Daemon Tools is out of the question too...

Any other options out there?

Raymond Stewart87 said:Hey everyone, I'm running into some minor headaches with Windows 7 (RTM 7600.16385). The installation itself went perfectly on my HP Compaq 6830s FU 535 ES laptop—which I’m actually quite happy with—but once I booted up Windows 7 and checked the Device Manager, I noticed two yellow exclamation marks under "Other Devices." I tried running the driver update tool, but absolutely nothing happened... so if anyone has any insight on how to resolve this, please let me know. Cheers.

You just need to install the drivers manually.

back when I slapped Vista onto a Socket A rig—running an Athlon 2000+ with 384 MB of SDRAM and a Radeon 9200 with 64 MB...it actually worked...the installation went through without a hitch...but I ended up ripping it out after about six hours because, frankly, I thought Vista was absolute garbage...😁

The real question here is how it actually performed... 👍

Steven Reed said:Initially, you're looking at your base salary—but then, thanks to how consistently you handle your bills every six months, that number starts climbing. The catch? At the very beginning, you're stuck with a negative balance against your pay and a direct debit limit that barely touches your actual salary 😉

Well, that sounds great then. I think I’ll go ahead and grab that package...

Everyone, you've been incredibly helpful, my sincere thanks to you all! 🙏 👍

Both he and I have been using this one, and so far, it’s been working out pretty well for us... $80/year, and those five free transactions per month are just about perfect for my needs...

Am I misreading this, or is that a 10 $0.00 limit on the overdraft? 😕 😲

I might end up playing around with this a bit too much...🤣

Anyone have any thoughts on the last post?

Let’s just say that based on my $1333 salary, I would ideally like to have a $1667 overdraft limit. I could settle for a bit less, but anything beyond that is unnecessary. Honestly, I have no desire to drown in debt or spend money I simply haven't earned yet. That covers my thoughts on credit lines...

As for other services, a Mastercard is a must-have, and having access to online banking would be extremely helpful. It would also be great if I could utilize checkbook services—assuming I understood correctly that this involves installment payments... and naturally, I'm looking for interest rates that stay as low as possible.

I really don't see the point in opening an account at a different bank if I can manage everything through Chase. However, $20 those monthly fees really start to add up. It’s almost enough to cover a monthly installment on my phone contract...

Ivanna and George Phillips, I appreciate the thorough responses you both provided. 🙂

Hello there. I have a few things I wanted to run by you all...

Back when I was in college, I just opened a basic checking account at Chase. Now that I’ve finally landed a job, I’m looking to upgrade things—specifically, I want to set up an overdraft line of credit, get a Mastercard so I can actually use PayPal, and pick up a few other perks along the way.

The thing is, on my current account, they only offered me an overdraft limit of $100, which honestly doesn't make any sense to me. Could it be because my first paycheck only covered two days of work since I started on March 30th?

I’ve been browsing their various service packages online, but frankly, none of it makes any sense to me... what would you all do if you were in my shoes, and which plans would you opt for? I also need to set up online banking and mobile access so I don't have to constantly deal with the hassle of visiting an ATM or dealing with all that nonsense. How much do they usually charge for those kinds of services?

For context, my approximate salary is $1333.

Now, I really don't want to start a debate about how being in the red isn't a great habit; believe me, I understand that perfectly well, but sometimes life throws something urgent at you that makes it absolutely necessary... So, please, help me out. 🙂

thanks

In my opinion, the most sensible move would be to wipe Windows entirely—either by backing up your data to an external drive or moving everything over to a different partition—then performing a completely clean installation of Windows XP with either Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3 before you start installing anything else. If you do it that way, you shouldn't run into any stability issues...

You’re going to need to track down some absolute mastermind who can engineer an encryption so airtight that even the FBI couldn't touch it... I’d suggest you start looking for a serious, high-level hacker if you actually want this to work.

I can't recall the specific one, but I'm fairly certain you could have tacked on a subtitle plugin for Windows Media Player 8. Still, the experience was so abysmal that it was almost impossible to actually watch anything...

I relied on BS Player for years on end, but after switching over to GOM Player about a year or so ago, everything just finally clicked...

hollowcanyon6 said:It makes absolutely no difference whether you choose a quick or a full format. The only distinction is that a full format runs a chkdsk afterward, but the actual formatting process itself is identical.

I fail to see the logic in claiming it's just an extra chkdsk... do you even realize how long a chkdsk actually takes? A few seconds, at most. There are far more technical components involved in why a full format takes as much time as it does...☕

I find myself increasingly weary of the constant, predictable chatter regarding these outdated operating systems, as if we haven't already exhausted every possible argument concerning their inevitable obsolescence... It seems some people possess an almost stubborn refusal to accept that the digital landscape has moved on, clinging to legacy software like a lifeline in a storm, despite the glaring security vulnerabilities that come with such negligence... One would think that after years of warnings from every major tech authority in the country, the message might finally sink in, yet here we are again, debating the merits of ghosts... kaže:
I heard some of our guys have been hitting up The Pirate Bay for a few torrents lately, but the download speeds are absolutely abysmal... I was actually wondering if anyone here might have a decent, high-quality link that actually works at a reasonable pace...😉
