Just a little something more melodic—seriously, check out the part at 3:50 🙂. It's pretty killer
I actually caught both bands—I’d checked out C&C on iTunes before and they were decent enough, but honestly, this time around they seemed a little rough around the edges... maybe it was just the new bassist?

CSN, on the other hand, totally exceeded my expectations. They were incredibly good—that drummer was absolutely wild, though his timing sounded perfect to me, and the noise level was just right. Apparently, that drummer is also in Euphoria, which has one really killer track.

The bassist was rocking this faded Shellac t-shirt, and the singer/guitarist had just the right amount of intensity—all in all, I walked away pretty thrilled.🙏

👍

Plus, it’s a textbook case of the bystander effect. 😉
Personally, I think it would be a great idea to have an American director take the helm on our next film project. 😁

It’s probably a good thing all these little linguistic quirks are being expressed in English,😎 🙄

I really hope you don't mind if the rest of us use some American slang or regional idioms here—please don't feel like you have to gatekeep that right just for yourself and your lovely 😉 I’m not using these expressions to be condescending or sarcastic, I promise; I just find them much more efficient for getting my point across 😉 So, let's not pretend we're all living in different worlds when we're clearly on the same page 👋

You guys are being so tedious man 🙄
slylynx16, why don't you actually mention where you found that English critique you're quoting? Honestly, what a load of nonsense...🙄
Let's just take this step by step:

1# I couldn't care less about the whole damn industry or people picking at it—it’s really just a side note in the movie, and honestly, it just serves to show how much passion drives her and how much guts she actually has, you know what I mean? 😉
2# I mean, come on, the movie takes place in Africa, and we all know poverty is a reality there. So when the film shows that, the director gets accused of cheap, pathetic pandering to the audience's emotions. 😲 And if he had left it out, I guess they would have just called him an ignorant, inhuman cynic instead. 👎 What, are we supposed to play some kind of guessing game?
In the end, it all comes down to a matter of degree—where exactly does sentimentality end and real life begin?

3# At no point during the film did I lose the thread; the scene in the maternity ward was perfectly clear to me. I don't need the director to pause (for me to catch up!??🙄) or serve up extra explanations on a silver platter—I'm not some sleepy idiot (unlike this critic, apparently)
4# It's just pure stupidity 👎

5# and 6# are nothing more than attempts to "technically" bury the film, especially after they already tried to shut it down using the "mainstream" approach. Those points 5 and 6 don't mean a thing to anyone who hasn't spent at least four semesters in a film school, so they mean absolutely nothing to the vast majority of the audience—except that the critic uses them to pretend they're smarter than they actually are.
It seems the truth is that critics are often just failed, disgruntled film students. ☕

Good grief—what kind of twisted luck is this? I somehow ended up deciding to watch and actually comment on a film that has been dissected by everyone from those self-proclaimed untouchable high-brow intellectuals on one side to the polished, sociological crowd on the other—though I suspect their true consensus will remain forever elusive 🙄
. Despite all that, this movie deserves an honest take, especially since some of the sheer superficiality being tossed around in this thread isn't even worth more than a quick toss into the trash 👋

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

At its core, the film is a romance. It’s not a thriller, it’s not a political drama, it’s not some adventurous travelogue, and it certainly isn't an anti-pharmaceutical activist pamphlet. Instead, it explores the relationship between two people—how it begins, how it evolves, and how it concludes—emphasizing how inseparable that bond is from the protagonists themselves. I suppose it might not be that difficult to film a convincing romance when you have actors like Fiennes, whose mere presence guarantees a minimum of dialogue and a maximum of raw emotion, or Rachel Weisz, whose entire career seems to defy any kind of cliché—someone who started out as (dare I say... unrefined!?) an action starlet and is now, in her thirties, effortlessly portraying a twenty-four-year-old idealist?!?! Honestly, there's nothing left to say there, other than a massive thank you for that level of talent 🙏
Perhaps it isn't hard to make a decent romance when you have a duo like this, whom you can leave on screen for thirty seconds at a time without worrying if the audience is going to start timing them with a stopwatch. But, if you want to craft an *excellent* love story, you have to build the emotional foundation on incredibly solid ground. And that is exactly what this director achieved; he constructed such an exceptional bond between these two somewhat eccentric individuals that the final piece of that architecture pierces right through the heavens 🙏
Everything unfolds slowly, step by step, until it finally culminates in the protagonist's wild, desperate move—using his own death as a final tribute to his late wife 😲 I have to admit, personally, his choice strikes me as somewhat disturbed and irrational, but I would probably have to be insufferably arrogant to dare deny him that right 🙏

From the very beginning, it is clear that her position is one of profound isolation and abandonment, a state she essentially chose through her unrestrained, almost reckless courage. Once she points the finger at her enemy, she suddenly finds herself utterly alone, deserted by all the companions she might have expected—only to discover, in her desperation and innate femininity, that her adversary, that composed American diplomat, is actually her true kindred spirit and her great love. He, meanwhile, trained in a restraint that perfectly matches his meticulous and patient gardener's nature, discovers in her a powerful, wild plant that requires a vast amount of tenderness and affection
Of course, they both realize it far too late.😢 And if all true loves are meant to be tragic, then this is a romance par excellence . 👍 👍 👍

...honestly, do you guys even think about the political subtext in the movies you watch? Does that dimension even interest you? 🙂

😵 My head is spinning a bit—it's hard to focus on all that right now 😵

I caught 4 Days in September on TV recently—everything there is to know is probably already over on IMDb,

But it was likely the first Brazilian film I've ever seen, and man, it was fantastic right out of the gate 👍

You really learn a ton about that massive country through a movie like that 👍

Anyway, I don't really get this distinction between "political" films and "non-political" ones that just happen to have political elements 😕 I mean, I’d argue that maybe only romantic comedies, cartoons, and certain blockbusters are truly non-political

Where did Ivanda and Ostojic disappear to?

They're right here with us, Nola.

I have to say, I’m feeling pretty let down by Matanić 👎
And honestly, nobody even thought to mention 🙂

Smokescreen 😎
Regarding Arcade Fire, what was that expression again...🤔...hm...oh yeah, HIGH VOLUME, LOW MARGINS—I think that’s how people put it.

And honestly, you can't just call every little joke a punchline; there are certain standards to meet, you know? I mean, having a sense of humor is definitely part of the criteria. ☕

Hey there! 😍
The laws don't exactly leave much room for us rule-breakers to rig the elections—they mostly just force us to decorate the trees with some real lowlifes instead.

Besides that—*ahem*—who knows if my boys will still be making enough noise next season to impress someone like Emily Thomas3? Maybe I'll find myself being swept away by a star from somewhere else entirely...🙂

Hey there—is that hat falling over your eyes? Because I'm pretty sure headphones aren't going to be happening this season. 🙄
We're just waiting for the sun to dip below the horizon—then it’ll be time to hop on the horse and take a slow, rhythmic trot toward the saloon, feeling the steady rhythm of the hooves against the pavement along the way... 🤣
Honestly, I’m looking at these guys and it seems like they’re just political disciples of Donald Trump—it’s like they either can't figure out how to count votes properly, or they're just trying to lean on the system to get their way. I guess that's just how things go down in America, right? 🙂
