Has suffering become a taboo? in Spirituality ·
We’re all struggling, aren't we? But lately, it feels like there's this massive pressure—this absolute mandate—to just "be happy" or figure out how to become happy. What happens if we just can't get there? Has feeling pain somehow become something we should be ashamed of?

the entry for 'absence'

🙂 Or take a person, for instance. You list their attributes—arms, legs, head, and so on. Even if you strip all of that away, something still remains. That something is absence.

Diet Coke in Health ·
If it’s actually true that they named it after the coca plant and it originally contained coca leaves, it’s possible this happened back when regulations weren't as strict—meaning it wasn't so illegal that the ingredients were prohibitically expensive. Plus, they might have been talking about the leaf extract itself rather than pure cocaine. 🤔

I mean, surely someone isn't too lazy to just look up how the soda was created and where the name came from. You can find anything on Google.

I can't even deal with this. 😳 😁

Does anyone know where I can pick up a Frolov respirator?

Supposedly, they used to carry Coke back in the day. But in the beginning, they were selling medicine, not just sodas. Now? It’s basically poison. There’s no real Coke left. Real Coke is actually good for you. I say don't drink it—let's just boil some Coke instead. 🎉

Jack Harris3 said:Immortality? Is that just wishful thinking, or can you actually prove that some "spiritual" essence—which, by the way, you haven't even defined since we all know it isn't part of the material world 😁—actually survives once the physical stuff falls apart?

The truth is right there for anyone willing to look... do you actually have any proof to say otherwise?

If you haven't seen them yet, you should definitely check out "When Will You Stop Loving Me" and "Hannibal." In my opinion, they're easily his best movies.

Anyway, a guest mentioned that you'd be the one to explain what spirituality actually is. So, floor is yours. 🙂

Spirituality is simply the essence of everything non-material. I'm not sure what's so complicated about that. It’s the core of who we are, and it's what gives us a sense of immortality. Happy now?

The irony here is just next level... you really know how to keep me on my toes.😁

Some people just don't know when to quit being exhausting. Here’s his actual take: "Thank God I'm an atheist so I can actually think objectively, unlike you people whose faith blinds you from seeing the 'truth'." Happy now? And just to be clear, you're the one calling for him to be burned at the stake, not me.

adriatic said:Hey, maybe dial back the attitude a bit. Just because something seems obvious to you doesn't mean someone else can't see the exact opposite as being perfectly clear.

Everyone lives in their own bubble of delusions (thank 😁God I'm an atheist so I don't have to deal with yours), but that doesn't give you the right to act superior, lecture people, or try to shove your "obvious truths" down everyone else's throats.😉

He openly admitted he’s a materialist and doesn't believe in anything spiritual. Honestly, if that doesn't make him an atheist, I don't know what does. Unless, of course, he thinks God is just some tree in his backyard.😁

relativnost said:Look, there’s no need to get aggressive; we can have a civilized discussion here. Based on your reply, I don't think you're getting my point—or maybe you just don't want to accept that philosophy is essentially nonsense built on human wishful thinking. If you think you're right, then go ahead: prove to me that our thoughts aren't just chemical reactions in the brain.
And yeah... obviously, I'm talking about materialism. Everything ultimately boils down to materialism, even if it's packaged differently in various products... please try to follow my logic. Of course, I'd love for someone to actually debunk this with some solid arguments. I only posted this because I wanted to hear your perspectives, provided you back them up with something substantial. Thanks.

Sure, a thought itself is a chemical reaction, but life isn't as strictly predetermined as you seem to believe. By your logic, a human being would basically be an inanimate object since everything they do would already be set in stone.
Also, following your line of reasoning, it's pretty obvious you're an atheist. Honestly, that just suggests you haven't reached a sufficient level of critical thinking or self-awareness to be lecturing us like this. It's a shame you're living in such a delusion, but that's something you'll have to figure out on your own.

Jonathan Brown6 said:I used to get really into philosophy until I realized it’s all just total nonsense. If you look at everything from a molecular standpoint, we’re all basically the same—whether it’s a rock, a flower, an animal, or a person. Aside from what we're made of, there's no difference. People go on about souls and the mind and all that crap, but honestly, it’s just fluff.

How is a human being any different from, say, the Mississippi River at a molecular level? I'm not even talking about composition here. Every single thought we have and every move we make is just a chemical reaction—nothing more than a standard chemical reaction. Because of that, there's no such thing as "higher values" or anything meaningful about us as individuals.

I feel like you guys are all just philosophizing to feed your own "spirit," which is really just satisfying some internal need (another chemical reaction). Every emotion we feel is just chemistry. Even every word I’m typing right now is the product of chemical reactions and atoms colliding, or whatever happens when you go deep enough into the subatomic level.

At the end of the day, I’ve realized that all this philosophizing doesn't lead anywhere; it's just another human habit.
👋

The truth is, the spiritual side of things doesn't even exist; there's only the material world...

I actually went in for an eye exam last year for some other stuff, and they told me my vision was flawless, but I can tell it isn't what it used to be. What was it before then? Just superhuman? 😕

I should mention I posted this exact same thing on the Reddit forums and got absolutely zero traction. Not a single reply.

The discussions over here are way more engaging.

If you have any other questions, just ask. But please don't ask if the exercises actually work—I haven't tried them yet, so I'm totally in the dark. 😁
