Banned from the Alternative community??? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
cosmictinker21 said:Aha. Fine. Thanks. A "recommendation." In the style of: "Please read this work I personally translated." Which rules, exactly? I'm terrified you'll ban me for making a massive blunder. I'm truly embarrassed by my own ignorance here. I'm not a moderator, so I don't exactly have a PhD in interpreting the forum guidelines... but please, enlighten me. I'll follow them to the letter.

Noah Myers8, sine ira et studio. Toward anyone at all.🤷

cosmictinker21, look, there’s a strict rule on this forum against doxxing anyone or leaking private info. Why on earth would you think that doesn't apply to the moderators? Seriously, how would you feel if I just slapped your full name right here for everyone to see? Yeah... exactly what I thought.

cosmictinker21 said:So, I’ve been wondering... are moderators actually allowed to run free ads for their own projects, whether they wrote them or just translated them? Because if they are, they probably caught a massive amount of heat for it. It's funny, really, because we all know how strictly the rules against self-promotion are enforced here—remember that whole unproven uproar over that one single article a while back?

First off, cosmictinker21, you basically broke about twenty different forum rules just by posting this. Secondly, 🤦 it’s just a suggestion. Inside a thread.

Hani, you have this habit of labeling basically any question you don't like as "trolling."
Objectivity level: zero.

I’m just repeating what you already made crystal clear—that rational opposition—which isn't trolling, by the way; you can go find the posts you've actually sanctioned—isn't welcome on Alternative, which is the exact opposite of what dustyharbor18 was saying.

Q. E. D. ☕

Honey, if that helps you sleep at night.

steelskipper5 said:I used to get flagged all the time over on Alternative—getting hit with bans for posts that weren't even offensive, just a bit trollish or argumentative, I guess. It was mostly coming from Noah Myers8, though she made it pretty clear that any kind of rational opposition on Alternative just isn't welcome around here. He just won't tolerate it..
The more I complain, the less I get—instead of any actual response from the higher-ups, all I get is her just being insulting.

Look, even though I don't always see eye to eye with driftinggull13—honestly, his takes can be a bit much sometimes—I have to admit that he and George Turner2 are spot on with their analysis of what’s actually happening over at Alternative.
That’s why I don't even bother posting there anymore—well, except for the occasional troll post when some young punk decides to jump down my throat with his nonsense about the Illuminati.

Yeah, unless you give up the trolling on Alternative, you aren't welcome there. Other mods might put up with that kind of stuff, but on this subforum? Sorry, not happening.

cosmictinker21 said:So, what’s the deal with this whole Alternative thing???😲

Morgan Hernandez5, Noah Myers8,,, where did everyone go???

We went from having this dynamic PDF where different perspectives—hypotheses, theories, practical applications, spiritual insights, scientific data, mystical views, you name it—actually clashed in a meaningful way, to this absolute mess of senseless bans. It's just devolved into personal vendettas now. Honestly, just leave that stuff alone and deal with it in your actual life. I don't doubt that most people here are rational and well-intentioned; they don't usually let their frustrations manifest through smugness or by deleting posts and handing out bans without any real argument. Looking back at the last few months, sure, the debates were intense, but nobody felt personally attacked by a post or someone else's opinion. Usually, when communication breakdowns happened publicly, they were resolved publicly too, with a decent amount of mutual respect between the people on either side of the screen. Or, at least, they weren't dragged into the spotlight through other users who had nothing to do with the private spat.

I’m asking this publicly: why was the psychopathy thread pulled from the forum? The topic was thoroughly covered; interest in it had naturally tapered off. Fine, it dropped down a page. Whatever. It was still accessible to anyone interested in reading about it, just like any other topic. But now, it’s nowhere to be found in the space visible to the average Joe. And I actually really need some links to illustrate certain types of antisocial behavior...🤷

The thread was moved back to the Alternative section. I definitely didn't move it myself later on, but I'll dig around and see if I can find it.
Mount Everest in Music ·
Megan Rodriguez44 said:Why not? Something even better is bound to come along eventually.

For sure.
I mean, seeing Mount Everest live back then was incredible because it hit right after all those ultra-conservative, old-school moralists from the early 90s. Just like seeing Fido. I was just a kid back then, and honestly, getting to see Haustor, the Punk Rockers, Borghesia, and even that crazy Tommy Phantasma was everything.😁 It was basically the final pulse of the 80s music scene.
Fido felt great in the winter, while Mount Everest was perfect for summer. We didn't have all those annoying, low-effort imitators clogging up the scene.😁

Nowadays we’ve got Inmusic and various rock acts and whatnot. If I had to nitpick, I guess we just need a slightly more intense scene and maybe a few more cocky kids with guitars, but hey, that's just me.🙂

I mean, I probably should've kept my mouth shut, but then this happened

So, maybe you were hoping for a round of applause and ended up disappointed. Sorry about that, but man, I just had to jump in...

🤷

I made a typo. By "effort," I meant the effort of not re-reading a post once I hit publish. You never make mistakes? Oh, wait, yeah, you do.

Honestly, it drives me insane😁, seeing people constantly nitpicking my typos on this forum. Look, I know how to spell. I just don't care enough to be perfect here. And trust me, you could definitely come up with a way funnier comeback than just correcting my grammar.☕

OT: From what I've seen, getting press credentials is pretty chill, but I've never even asked for them unless I actually planned on covering the show. Usually, I end up turning down half the invites and tickets I get anyway.🙂

Come on, it's totally true. I've never had an accreditation rejected in my entire life, regardless of how I applied. You just list your editorial outlet and you're in.
School vaccinations: A MUST! in Health ·
John Barnes said:I’m a high school senior, and about a week ago, my school held a vaccination clinic. I didn't get vaccinated. At first, I just told them no, but then I made up an excuse about having a fever, and they bought it, so I managed to dodge it for the moment.

Now, I’ve received a notice stating that I have to go to a nearby city to get vaccinated, otherwise, I'll face a fine from $333. Honestly, what kind of nonsense is this? How can anyone be forced to take a vaccine when we don't even know what's in it—especially with all the swine flu concerns lately? I refuse to get vaccinated on principle. Once things settle down like they did with the bird flu, maybe I'll consider it.

Now I’m stuck. It looks like this is actually mandated by law, so I’m wondering if there is any way to avoid this vaccination entirely? Is there a way to bypass it without facing a fine or, heaven forbid, jail time? Since I'm an adult now, I need to know my standing. Can someone offer some advice or perhaps provide an excerpt of the specific law if it exists? Because it seems pretty clear that it does.

Thanks,

edit: I did some digging online and found out that this vaccination is regulated by a specific statute. Apparently, the penalties could include $667, and they can even initiate misdemeanor proceedings or report me to public health or social services. So, the question remains: how can I avoid the shot without paying a fine? And if I do pay the fine, is that the end of it, or will more trouble follow?

Nobody can force you. Any adult has the right to turn down any medical procedure, including vaccinations. The only thing you might have to deal with is a fine.

Frozen yogurt/ice cream hack

Crush some berries with a fork so you still get those big, juicy chunks (I usually toss in cranberries, blackberries, blueberries—anything super tart)
Mash up one banana with a fork and squeeze some lemon juice over it
Mix it all together and throw it straight into the freezer

Some people swear by adding sugar, but honestly? That’s just silly. For me, this is the ultimate post-workout snack.

Look, I don't have anything against you repeating what I sent you in a private message, but do you realize that posting someone's PMs is strictly against the forum rules? I know you do.🙂 I also know you know the answer to that. And yeah, you’re being annoying.

Remember those prices? On the site, they’re listed around 300 bucks...$133.

So, did you actually figure out where this is being played? I mean, sure, it’s cool that it can happen ANYWHERE, but my old man and the rest of the grumpy crowd over here really need some actual info.😁😁😁

Total brain fart on my part—I posted the link on Facebook but totally forgot to drop it here.😁

Yeah, Blackminton absolutely kills it.😁

I was checking out YouTube😁

And yeah, I definitely want to give that a shot. The balls feel a bit like shuttlecocks, just heavier.

I mean, let's aim for the fall. Until then, maybe find someone decent to practice with? I don't want to show up to the meetup looking like a total amateur. 😁

I'll probably wait until autumn too.🙂
Word on the street is it's awesome. All I know for sure is they play right here in my small town.🙂
Anyone tried Speedminton? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Not sure if anyone here actually plays this yet—I just picked it up recently and it seems awesome, though I haven’t had much time on the court to really test it out. It’s basically a mix of badminton and squash; lots of running, pretty aggressive, and you don't even need a specific court or anything...

Anyone playing?
If not, would you be down to try it?😬
