Dealing with Anemia in Health ·
granitebadger25 said:It takes about two months for those new red blood cells to actually get their iron levels up... once you fix the anemia, the kid won't be catching every single bug going around (it’s a vicious cycle—they get sick because they're anemic, and then being sick makes them even more anemic). Just give him iron supplements every day. (Check if there's anything on the market now that won't stain his teeth)

Forget vitamins and all that other nonsense (that's just stuff old ladies swear by 😬). Instead, let the kid finally eat some actual red meat (give him some veal cutlets) and eggs, especially the yolks 😁

And I know I’ve mentioned this before, but it's honestly such a waste listening to those New Age nutritionists 🙂

I am literally going to kill myself😵 because I don't eat red meat at all—well, barely any—and since I have allergies, I'm terrified of eggs, so I haven't really been giving them to him. I thought I was "helping" him with a high-quality, super healthy diet 😢 chicken. Pure chicken. Well, at least now I know.

Alright, I’m doing all this in coordination with our pediatrician. I'm just wondering—what kind of blood work numbers are we actually looking for to consider him in the clear?

My little guy is 13 months old and just got diagnosed with iron-deficiency anemia (hope I got that right). He’s on iron supplements now, but I really want to beef up his diet to boost his immune system since he seems to catch everything going around. Anyone have any suggestions? I’ve been giving him Twinlab multivitamins for kids, but honestly, I don't know much about the different brands and feel a bit lost. I've heard Dr. Mercola's stuff is good too.

I actually pick up most of my stuff from that same shop (pretty sure it's called 😁 )

khm... total self-promotion there... I've got about 300 CDs at home, all exclusively Jazz, so yeah, like brisknomad6 said, for a small fee... (honestly, I'm a nut job, what am I even doing? I've totally lost it 😬 )

Go ahead and record something for me.🙂
I usually stick to the rule of buying the classics and original Jazz pressings, but I always need to give something a listen first. It’s just how I'm wired.🙂
Where is the cleanest tattoo shop in LA? in Health ·
Lisa Myers37 said:I can only really speak for the shop where I actually got my ink done🙂. Gandalf is top-tier, honestly. They prioritize cleanliness above everything else—you seriously don't have to worry about a thing when you go there.👍

So what did you get? I'm thinking about fixing up some dolphin tattoos and adding a few more pieces, so I'd love to hear more.🙂

... the power of thought vs. gut feeling?

Sorry if this has already been covered, but I’ve had this question looping in my head for the last few days.
As part of Western culture, we're pretty obsessed with the mind and everything we can rationalize—but honestly, that feels like such a tiny slice of reality.
On the flip side, leaning way too hard on nothing but "vibes" just leads to dogma and blindly following ideas that don't even make sense. It basically turns into that classic: "Because I said so," or "Trust the guru," or some random influencer telling you how to live your life.😁

When you get into spirituality, things get even messier depending on how people define the "soul"—whether they see it as an intellectual thing or an emotional one.
Personally, I tend to put the spirit in its own separate category altogether, but I'm curious to hear what you guys think.🙂

Look, hollowviper72, those definitions you're throwing out are interesting, but I’ve got no clue where you're getting them from.
It feels a little weird debating spirituality since it's such a personal thing—everyone has their own set of rules and definitions. But hey, let's try to nail down some terminology because I feel like we're totally talking past each other semantically.

So, based on what you're saying, passion is something "low," something that just serves as fuel, whereas love is this self-sustaining power. And if I'm following you right, love is a creative force, but passion can't actually be creative? Where are these definitions coming from? Is this just your personal take on reality, or are you citing specific sources? If it's the latter, which ones are we even using here?

I could agree with you that passion needs to be "tamed"—but honestly, I think passion is exactly what drives thought. It gives wings to the mind, which eventually leads to creation. Living passionately doesn't mean living mindless; it means actively loving the act of being alive.

And that question you asked—"does it make sense to argue when neither of us will give up who we are"—that's actually a great point. But we could ask that about pretty much anything on this forum. We're assuming spirituality is an intimate domain, so we should be speaking from the perspective of WHO we are, not just WHAT we think, even though those two things really ought to overlap. We're having a conversation. I'm asking because I genuinely want to see what you have to say and get a sense of who you actually are. 🙂

I actually asked hollowviper72 the exact same thing, but you gave a much deeper answer, so now I'm just sitting here waiting to see what else comes out of this. 😁

So, are people afraid to be themselves and therefore they ARE restrained, or are they afraid to be themselves so they AREN'T restrained?😁

I don't believe in holding back.😁

... because all passion needs to be kept in check, according to Gaudrath.

But why? Isn't passion actually one of the most creative parts of being human? And I'm talking about positive passion—not just some physical release.

Why is wisdom always tied to moderation and finding the middle ground?

And if spirituality is built on who we are—if it’s deeply personal and individual—isn't that exactly where we should be allowed to go totally wild and passionate?

So, yeah, that's my first topic here.👋 new kid on the block😁
Healthy body, healthy mind in Spirituality ·
The only thing I can wrap my head around is that the spirit isn't some kind of extra drink on the menu. Maybe the scale goes body-spirit-soul, where the physical stuff is just a manifestation of what's inside. But honestly? I bet the soul couldn't care less whether we can bench press 100 kilos or not.

So, what actually triggers allergies? Is it just an immune system glitch? How does that whole process even work?
Itchy, burning eyes—anyone else? in Health ·
electricdriver78, I honestly find it wild that I’m developing allergies at 27. Like, I used to live with pets all the time and was totally fine... I just don't get it. It makes zero sense.

How did you even figure out it was specifically walnuts causing the issue?
Itchy, burning eyes—anyone else? in Health ·
hehehehe
shots😁😁😁
I’m basically a total Freud fanatic here, which is just a fancy way of saying I’m terrified of needles and having my credit card info swiped😁 so yeah, no thanks, I won't be signing up for any testing😁

umm, hey waso, how does a big tough guy like you get scared of shots?😁
Itchy, burning eyes—anyone else? in Health ·
Ugh, I just fried my eyes looking at an average of 2.6 posts per day😁

waso, maybe it's allergies? As far as I know, I'm not really an allergy person. If it is, then I'm just talking nonsense. If it's allergies though, what's the move? Is there some kind of fix or am I just stuck waiting for pollen season to die down?

Honestly, all this has me a little spooked because I’ve been feeling pretty terrible lately—a few days ago I came back from Target and just collapsed on the floor. My body is definitely not running at 100% right now.😢

I spend at least eight hours a day glued to my computer screen for work.😢
Itchy, burning eyes—anyone else? in Health ·
I’ve got anti-reflective coating on my lenses—my eye doctor actually suggested it since I spend basically my whole life staring at a computer screen.
I honestly think my eyes are just trashed because my sleep schedule is a total disaster. Between working way too much and barely getting any shut-eye, my eyes are always the first thing to feel the hit. It’s that constant, nagging feeling you get when you’re running on empty... you know, that groggy, "just woke up from a nap and everything hurts" kind of vibe? It just plain hurts.
Itchy, burning eyes—anyone else? in Health ·
I’m honestly guessing this is just straight-up burnout. My eyes are driving me crazy—they're super dry, itchy, and they sting so bad. It actually hurts to even look at things. I catch myself rubbing them constantly, which obviously just makes everything ten times worse. I wear glasses, usually around -2.25 and -2.00, but I can't seem to focus on anything. Staring at a screen feels like literal torture right now. I actually went to my eye doctor for a checkup a few weeks ago, updated my prescription, and everything seemed fine then. Any advice on how to deal with this?
bravo, bravo👍
