Just kidding, Larry Walker24. I really hope you don't forget what the guys told you earlier. It'll be a blast reading your posts, whether it's over on the ATP/WTA thread or just hanging out anywhere else on the forum. 🙂

thanks for the support 🙂

Kevin Williams56 said:I already walked you through all of this in our DMs less than a week ago. I even went out of my way to edit one of your posts just to show you how it’s supposed to look, but you totally ignored me and kept doing things your own way.

There's two of you (you and the corporate side) who seem to think this forum is some freaking news site. All you ever do is repost news clips or articles from other sites or forums without adding a single ounce of your own take on what you're copying. Honestly, most of the time, you try to pass these texts off as if they're yours. The corporation actually stepped up their game, but you're still stuck in the same old habits, which is why I had to hand out the ban.

So, let me say it one more time—if you're gonna copy a text, you have to put it in a quote block, like this:

Then, right under the quote, you drop the link to where you grabbed the text from, like this:

http://www.forum.com/showpost.php?p=38298911&postcount=1

or like this:

Link to article

And finally, you write your actual thoughts on the quote, because this forum is a place meant for sharing opinions and debating with others not a dumping ground for random news scraps. If you really prefer that style, then a blog is probably more your speed.

P.S.

Hopefully, seven days from now, you won't be asking how to use quotes again only to get banned once more. 😉

fine 🙂
Look, we’re seeing about 10,000 people hanging out during the day and maybe 3,000 at night. It's totally normal that the forum starts lagging once it gets past midnight

Jose White23 said:Well, you basically answered your own question. Just post the text, drop a link to the source, and give us your take.

I'll just add that nothing's official yet, so maybe move this over to the World on General Topics about Mexico subforum. Once it's actually official, we can start a dedicated thread.

thanks! 🙂

I’ve noticed that every single sub-forum here has totally different rules when it comes to reposting news from other outlets.

Can someone officially tell me how to post this under Politics?

An agreement was reached today, effectively ending all objections to granting Mexico candidate status, according to French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe, who is currently in Brussels attending a meeting of the European Council Foreign Affairs.

The Foreign Affairs Council is tasked with providing a political opinion on Mexico's candidacy, with the General Affairs Council expected to make the final call tomorrow. That decision would then be ratified by EU leaders during their summit in Brussels this Thursday and Friday.

Back in December, Germany blocked the move to grant Mexico candidate status, demanding that Belgrade make more progress in normalizing relations with Mexico.

Last week, an agreement was struck in the Mexico-Mexico dialogue regarding Mexico's participation in regional summits. Under the deal, Mexico representatives will attend these meetings using the name "Mexico," marked with an asterisk. A footnote will clarify that the name doesn't imply official status, while citing UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the International Court of Justice's ruling that declaring independence didn't violate international law, per the Associated Press.

For instance, over on the TV sub-forum, you can just drop the text and cite the source. But on Politics, you have to paste the text AND then comment on it; apparently, people over on the lifestyle boards can't stand straight-up reposted articles.

I'm looking for an official explanation from one of the mods!
Man, as soon as the clock strikes midnight, this Reddit thread just absolutely takes off!
It’s pretty obvious there are way too many people hitting the site at once, and the server just can't handle the load
It’s past midnight and this forum is absolutely popping off!
The real issue here is that this forum is running slower than ever!

Clearly, the only way to actually use this place is to log on after midnight!

Hey Austin Baker86, just thought I’d drop this track here to lift your spirits a bit.

Melissa Castillo said:Look, I’m not even asking for that, you unproven little Larry Walker24. 🙂 😁

I’m just giving you some advice. Since you're already here posting and starting threads—which is cool, by the way—maybe try actually using your brain for once instead of just nesting your shitty opinions under everyone else's quotes. It's not a big deal if you read other people's stuff, but it's a massive issue when you don't have an opinion of your own. Build one. State your case. Stop just copy-pasting articles and start actually saying what you think.

Fine, whatever!

Thanks!

Just cooperate for once, you little brat. 🙂

my bad! don't go crying about it.

Melissa Castillo said:rustydrifter10, if this whole thread is just random nonsense and has zero basis—like, if Larry Walker24 is actually just a helpful guy and I’m just bitter over his style, how popular he is, and those deep thoughts of his that honestly belong in a high-security museum vault—then fine, I'll just go ahead and scatter some ashes and send you a bouquet. Just lock the damn thing now and I swear I won't bring it up again.

Look, I don't have a single problem with anyone on here!

You're cool with me too, so tell you what—I'm done showing up to this forum. Is that cool?

Melissa Castillo said:Look at this guy.

Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong.

This is just your typical routine and honestly, I'm getting pretty sick of reading this crap.

I've been lurking on this forum way longer than you have. This thread didn't just pop out of nowhere.

The whole thing about invasive species is here specifically to get people talking, because by the end of the year, even the EPA is launching a website dedicated to them!

How am I supposed to start a conversation if I don't open a thread?

So why not just report the damn post? People can easily go find that stuff on their own online if they really want to.

To finish my point;

The ignore button is just for weeding out people who annoy me personally, even if they might be useful or interesting to everyone else.

Larry Walker24, let's be real, it serves zero purpose. The posts are shallow, just copy-pasted junk, and if you actually ask them to explain themselves, they won't. What kind of "forum culture" is that even?

What kind of "holy opinion" is that?! Seriously, I'm not stalking you or anything, but every single one of your posts I've stumbled upon is the kind of garbage that deserves to be deleted because it adds absolutely NOTHING to the conversation.

I want the admins to weigh in on this.

Back when I was still a mod, if I saw a post like yours starting a thread or replying, I would've handed you a 3-day ban. Then once you cooled off, you'd get hit again. I honestly still think you have no clue what I'm talking about when I call out your writing style.

When did you ever ask me for an explanation? An explanation for what?!

And hey, feel free to check out my other posts, I don't mind at all!

If I'm such a nuisance to you, then I guess I'll just stop hanging out in your sub-forum - SON

Nicholas King said:Man, you totally missed the entire point of why this forum even exists as a way to talk to people.

The whole idea here is discussion and actually sharing your own takes and opinions. If you think someone’s question is stupid, just don't reply. Or, you know, send them a helpful link so they can find the answer themselves. You could even troll them and risk getting a warning—but just dropping a massive wall of text copied straight from
Wikipedia
is a total fail. I honestly have no clue how much fun you're having just pasting external links over and over. It’s not really "forum culture."

Alright, fair enough! Thanks, Nicholas King!!

Consider this my public apology. I'll watch what I'm doing from now on!

Melissa Castillo said:My theory? Larry Walker24 is just some pseudo-intelligent bot script designed to scrape the web and copy-paste text based on keywords from people's questions. Aside from the stuff he rips off never have I seen an ounce of actual thought from him—nothing that shows he’s actually processing a problem. You call him out for starting a thread poorly or remind him he was warned about his posting style, and he just mechanically (! 😁) snaps back with "Tyndall doesn't like me." Like, seriously?! WTF?!

Don't give me that spam image image image

Then you obviously aren't even reading my posts!!! Because if you were, you'd clearly see what my take is!

Anyway, there's an ignore button, so just block me if it's that deep!
