It feels like something straight out of the 1970s... 😁

Look, if you're going to pose as someone else, at least try to do it with enough style so you don't get called out in the very first sentence.

Brian Edwards78 said:Is there any room for moderator discretion here, or should we follow these rules to the letter...

Generally speaking, we shouldn't follow them blindly like they're gospel, since things aren't always black and white... but a moderator's discretion shouldn't be absolute; it really ought to stay within the bounds of the rules...

Moving forward...

David Vaughn75 said:That whole court-appointed expert thing is a total joke. They just ask doctors to testify, and everyone ends up backing up whatever my doctor says even if they don't know a damn thing about me—some of them haven't even laid eyes on me!

And then the court expert asks the patient two quick questions and suddenly everything is crystal clear. 🙄

But look, to be totally blunt, sometimes it’s the only way to handle things, and I’m actually glad it worked out that way.

I really don't understand how people can underestimate how hard it is to spot someone in psychosis. Honestly, if you've dealt with someone in that state before, recognizing it isn't exactly rocket science... 🤷 As long as they have some experience with it.
Professionals probably find it even easier...

But to be perfectly blunt, sometimes that’s the only way, and I'm glad it worked out that way.

Well, then I still don't quite get why you jumped in when I asked vividorca9 about emergency care, only to follow up with comments about the "only" solution. To me, taking action is the only real answer, rather than waiting for things to resolve themselves or for the situation to stabilize. Because it won't... Not to mention the humanitarian aspect.
If you think there are other ways, you could have shared them instead of just using a coffee emoji—it might have actually helped someone. You still have the chance... 🤷

David Vaughn75 said:The math is simple: he refuses help + calls 911 when things go south = forced treatment.

I know guys like this personally because—let’s be real—I used to be one of them. Just totally losing my mind, hitting a breaking point, but acting like, "Nah, I'm fine, I don't need anyone's help." Honestly? Looking back, I’m actually glad I ended up in the psych ward against my will back then. It was exactly what I needed.

Of course, those aren't the same thing.
Ultimately, a judge decides on involuntary commitment after reviewing an evaluation from a court-appointed expert who isn't employed by the facility where the patient is being admitted. It’s a formal process, and it doesn't happen nearly as often as people think...

Go ask the staff at a major metropolitan hospital like Bellevue how they handle alcoholics brought in by paramedics and police against their will. (Hint: they let them go as soon as they sober up.) Even if the family is pushing hard to have them held...

If a judge wasn't involved, you weren't under involuntary commitment. If a judge was involved, then you were, but that has nothing to do with how you arrived at the psychiatric ward—whether via an ambulance (like what was suggested to vividorca9 regarding her partner) or through a follow-up with a psychiatrist who noticed symptoms worsening...

I’d suggest doing a little research on this. There’s plenty of info in the PDF here regarding commitment institutions, and you can find the Privacy Act online. I’m saying this with good intentions; I think anyone struggling should know exactly what legal rights they have...
Or don't, if you prefer.
But if you choose not to, please don't spread misinformation claiming an ER visit is the same as forced commitment. It just fuels existing stigmas against psychiatry and makes people afraid to seek professional help. I see this mistake in the PDF all the time...

David Vaughn75 said:The reality is, they don't even bother rushing patients to the hospital until things get genuinely dangerous—either for themselves or everyone else nearby.

Look, vividorca9, just sit tight and wait for them to drop a line where they explicitly threaten to hurt themselves or someone else before you call 911, because honestly, that's about the only way you'll get a response. ☕

I never mentioned forced treatment, nor am I saying emergency services are synonymous with it. Please, try reading more carefully before jumping in with a condescending comment that misses my point entirely.
Schizophrenia - General Discussion in Psychology & Therapy ·
vividorca9 As follows:
He's currently on medication, but it just isn't working for him. He actually ended up in a psychotic break last time he took it... He only started this round again to please me regarding a certain matter we won't get into right now (not that anyone asked!). Every time he takes the pills, his libido becomes completely uncontrolled, and he develops this intense hyper-religiosity...

The inspection is underway...I suspect he might lie to his psychiatrists just because the medication seems to be working for him in that regard...

Sounds good...

Maybe give her a call before she leaves and walk her through all his symptoms...

I'm hoping it happens soon, rather than dragging on for another week...

vividorca9 said:I know. But he just won't budge. Every time I tell him, "You're acting psychotic," he snaps back with, "I'm not psychotic, you're the one who's psychotic—look, you're crying." Well, yeah, I'm crying because I'm watching you act like an absolute idiot, not because I've lost my mind.

It's the same old stuff: religious obsessions, weird dreams, superstitions, and daydreaming all day without any connection to reality. Then there's the zero-control hypersexuality, the binge eating, and the total emotional instability. He’s also dealing with auditory hallucinations; I’m basically his worst enemy because he tells me he feels like people are attacking him through subtle cues (I won't go into detail so he doesn't recognize himself). It's just constant grandiose delusions fueled by people he thinks are "friends." He treats whatever they say as gospel, like he's lost the ability to think for himself. He parrots their words like a damn parrot, hides everything from me, and manipulates me constantly. And now, even loud noises are bothering him...🤷

So, is this psychosis, or am I actually the crazy one here? 🤷

Based on what you described, I would say it is.

And Larry Lewis makes a good point. These symptoms could escalate even further.
The longer he goes without help, the more he'll resist medical intervention. Some people still have enough grip on reality to seek a doctor on their own. Plus, recovery takes much longer if you wait too long...

Is an emergency room visit really out of the question?
Do you know if he's currently on medication or has any sort of stability right now?

The Powerlock Case in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Just a quick reminder that this isn't the Politics subforum, so please don't drag those specific debates over here. This space is strictly for trading cards...
The Administrator will reach out regarding your appeal, so please just bear with us for a bit...
Kyle Ward said:Look, if you actually believe you're right about something, you don't need aggressive rhetoric. Solid, fact-based arguments are enough. But that's clearly not happening here. They just quote some random articles about gender equality from the Constitution of the USA, but the connection to these quota-driven posts is so weak even Milan wouldn't notice it. It all boils down to the classic move of getting worked up over nothing and throwing around empty buzzwords.

But hey, why don't you tell us, "soldier"—what exactly are you and your Brigadier fighting for here? What rights are you defending? Do you have the right to vote? Yeah, you do. Are these ridiculous threads being deleted? No, they aren't. In fact, the moderators—with their chronic inactivity and blatant favoritism—are basically encouraging the constant spread of these mindless feminist propaganda pamphlets.

So, what rights are you actually fighting for when you already possess all of them? From everything I can gather here, it seems like the only thing you're really fighting for is the artificial implantation of a uterus into every man, just so we can finally be "capable" like you.

Close this thread. 🙄

As soon as the admin weighs in...

Until then, I’d ask you all to move any discussions regarding feminism over to the other sections of the forum. There are plenty of other places for that. This one isn't meant for it...

Kenneth Ross8 said:The issue isn't whether we need a spokesperson; it's that we're all fed up. We've been asking ourselves: "Is there any point?" Motivation is gone because nothing seems worth the effort anymore.

How about you go through the thread right now?
Thanks!

We aren't arguing against the flag, nor are we debating whether it was justified!

I'd love to, as soon as we close these two current threads!

If questions or confusion arise later, a separate thread will be opened.

Let's just assume everything is clear for now!

All we can say is: thanks to the former moderator for the misinformation!!

Hopefully, fermina-daza, Snowcrowned, Chocolate puma, and Corduroy won't follow the lead of the previous moderators—or even the current passive ones.
And that they'll give it their all to restore the old reputation of the PDF ''PŠ''.

Michelle Evans, thanks for the thorough answers!

I realize I could find the same answers elsewhere—Google works wonders—but when I think back to how Blue Paw first started out...

If my memory serves me right, before Blue Paw became what it is now, the focus wasn't so much on fundraising or donations, but rather providing help for the little ones found out on the streets. I'm not sure exactly when that shifted so much.
At any rate, I'm just a small drop in the ocean compared to all the Blue Paw members who have passed through here. I believe rules can change, and they do, so it’s up to me to either adapt or move on...

It’s my own fault for being "out of the loop" for so long; I came here hoping to find support and information all in one place. Ironically, I think this is the only animal for which I haven't asked for financial aid or food assistance...

I hope you aren't upset (mods) that I'm posting here. There's no anger on my end, just a bit of a question mark over my head and some genuine disappointment... :/

...restlessangler..., I looked into the situation and your thread will be restored. There was no reason to lock it, as the rules allow both support threads and adoption threads for the same pet on Blue Paw.

Please accept my apologies for this moderator oversight. I hope this incident won't stop you from continuing to look for the information you need here on PPDF.

Best regards!

Kenneth Ross8 said:Let’s be real here. This intervention and assessment feel incredibly off. It’s been determined that what's needed is... And nobody noticed that the forum members are having major issues with the moderators? Please. It's more like the moderators are just straight-up ignoring everyone's questions! If you want an actual assessment, don't just drop a photo and walk away. You need to go through the thread and provide some context first.

Let's hope for a better turnout this time around.

The problem is simple: the moderators are letting arrogance, blatant disregard for other users, and total passivity slide. It’s unacceptable.
Still nothing. One topic. They opened an investigation because people filed complaints about their performance. The moderator still hasn't weighed in, and the admins haven't said a word either. Still, we're holding out hope they actually show up.

Good to know we have that option moving forward!

Yes!!
We sent our inquiry to moderator Snowcrowned first. She was polite enough to let us know she’s still getting caught up since she just got back.
Now we're just waiting on a response from moderator fermina-daza.

"Users' questions." I see you using the plural there.
Are you acting as a spokesperson for everyone else here? There’s really no need for that; people can speak up for themselves if their questions aren't being answered. Just like you started your own threads because you wanted answers too.

Regardless, I’ve looked over this thread thoroughly.
Having issues with moderators doesn't give you a free pass to troll.

You received a warning the same day you posted that content and asked your question. In fact, your question was posted only three minutes before the post that got flagged.
It’s hard to claim your issue with the staff—the one you brought up on the PŽK forum—was already happening back then, given how much time has passed since the inquiry.

The problem is that the moderators allow arrogance, ignoring users, passivity...
So far, one thread has been opened to complain about their performance. A moderator hasn't even replied to it yet, and the admins haven't stepped in, though we're still hoping they will!

If you want, start a new thread so we can discuss whatever remains unclear.
Also, if you feel the admins haven't weighed in, feel free to ask them to do so.
There are!!
We first sent our inquiry to moderator Snowcrowned, who kindly told us she was still catching up since she just got back.
Now we're just waiting to hear from moderator fermina-daza.

Fine, then that still doesn't involve me. At least for now. My question is simply whether there's any confusion regarding what I wrote or my work in general, so we can clear it up. If everything is clear regarding why this thread was opened, then it can be closed.

Kenneth Ross8 said:A moderator literally stated once that they should put in the effort to make it so that when you hit that little icon, every single admin sees the report.
That was the official word!

So, I guess the logical conclusion is that from now on, we have to file every single complaint through the PŽK!

If that’s what a moderator said, then they were wrong. You shouldn't have to hunt for a post.
Trust me, I know exactly what lands in my inbox every single day...

Private message logs are visible to everyone. Post logs are not.

It’s interesting to think that from now on, we'll have to file every single complaint through the PŽK...

No. Not every single one.
You can always settle things via PM with the mods, or if you aren't satisfied, you can reach out to me. And of course, using the PŽK is an option, which clearly works...

Is there anything else that needs clearing up?

There is on my end, specifically an inquiry I filed in the appeals and sanctions section that hasn't received a response yet.
It concerns that claim of a staggering 75 instances regarding something being constant...
Does that mean you're constantly monitoring the entire forum, or are you specifically watching my posts, because about 50 of my attempts to use the report button yielded absolutely nothing except for deleted posts, so now...

The reporting system might be broken, considering I saw Cirduroy looking pretty baffled by the volume one day...
But since I posted this in the right place, I assume an answer to that part can be found here.

You will receive an answer on the specific thread where you originally posted the question. You haven't received it yet because by the time I was back online, the forum was essentially offline...

I don't see reports on PDFs where I am not a moderator. Reports you submit to the general board go to the moderators assigned to that specific PDF, not to me. If the moderators aren't reacting to something, there's usually a reason for it, and you can send them a private message to ask why they haven't responded. If they don't get back to you within a day, feel free to reach out to me and I'll check in with them. Or, you can just ask here.

I monitor your posts just like I monitor everyone else's. I don't comb through every single thread on the PDF looking for details. I only do that for the PDFs where I serve as a moderator...

Kenneth Ross8 said:Since we had our first "encounter" with supermoderator Michelle Evans when we were handed a red card back on July 18, 2013—not that we’re complaining about the penalty itself—we want to know:
1. Does a supermoderator just act like a ghost, waiting for regular moderators to ask for a red card, or is there actually an obligation to be impartial, look into the issue themselves, and act fairly?
2. Why has this same person never taken any action regarding Pets, despite being appointed as supermoderator on October 15, 2012, at 8:56 PM?

, yet there have been countless occasions where action was required?
The same person didn't even step in when the topic was raised: "It's high time you finally brought some order to the blue paw subforum!" which went completely ignored without any meaningful answers to the requests made!!

What exactly is the role of a supermoderator? When are they supposed to act? What are their specific duties?

Thanks for the answers!!

.

It’s a bit of both, really. He definitely didn't get kicked out just because the moderators asked him to leave. That part isn't quite right...
Smod doesn't really moderate unless they happen to be managing the PDF files at the same time. In that sense, they act like a bit of a ghost... though they can step in if they feel it's necessary. I decided it was necessary here...

2. What’s the reasoning behind that... Never... He hasn't actually posted anything in the Pets section yet, even though his status was updated to supermoderator back on October 15, 2012...
...and wasn't there a need to question his actions several times over?
It didn't make any difference even when the topic was first introduced... It is high time you finally brought some order to the Blue Paw subforum... Which one is still waiting on those essential answers...

It seems like you might have cut off there...No, not really... The same...It says so right there in my profile...
I joined Smod on May 1, 2013, not October 15, 2012...
You’re clearly looking at the supermoderator list on that PDF, which hasn't been updated since then. That doesn't mean everyone listed was appointed back then... The roster has definitely changed and grown since that date, even if there isn't a visible edit log to show it...

That serves as my explanation for why I wasn't part of that discussion...

I’ll briefly touch upon your post from that other thread as well, since it relates directly to my work...
Kenneth Ross8 The user said:/cut/

Mrs. Michelle Evans, as a supermoderator, you surely saw our inquiry on... Announcements, suggestions, ideas, or calls to action... please share them here... When you responded to that thread, it was for entirely different reasons...

When the moderators and even the supermoderators aren't responding, I think it’s perfectly reasonable to start looking for answers elsewhere... I need some help... From Admin...
.

I saw the inquiry, but I have no way of knowing if you actually received an answer unless you let me know the moderators aren't getting back to you. If you tell me, I can check in with them to see what's going on... I don't track every single thread or know which issues are being handled through private messages, though that doesn't mean I'm not familiar with the PDF issues in general...

You never actually reached out to me about this. Please feel free to do so next time...

Any other questions...
