What happened to this forum? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Guys, if this is truly all there is to say without any specific requests for how the administration should handle things—because if we had a functional board, we’d have clear guidelines on how these discussions ought to be structured—then I can only suggest moving this conversation over to this thread (just a heads-up: please keep the chat out of it, and remember that commenting on the moderation itself isn't allowed).

The bottom line...

Thanks.

This thread isn't meant for dragging old arguments over from other files. If you have an issue, please take it up with the moderators directly. That’s really all there is to it.

Let's settle this.

I’ve reached out to the head admin, and if I have to, I’ll show up at his front door to make sure this forum finally gets sorted out.

Is that a threat?
Give a warning to that drunk moderator and those two ego-driven guys.

That's an insult.

Thanks for the cooperation!

If you don't get a response within 24 hours, go ahead and file a report here to open a formal complaint. Just please don't wait half an hour after a post goes up only to claim that the moderators are turning a blind eye... It’s all laid out clearly in these rules...

It doesn't really matter why someone else got banned. There's always a reason, and they can always take it up with the admins...

Complaining about a post from twelve hours ago that was made at midnight... Look, John, we've already settled the whole "response time" debate plenty of times. I really don't know how you can come back here with that condescending attitude after everything. Don't push your luck next time. Just a bit of friendly advice...

The Administrator already cleared up the rules regarding warnings, and if you want to get into political or historical debates, there are specific PDFs for that. This isn't the place for it.

Anyway, I have to ask—how is it that your annual vacation doesn't stop you from handing out bans to "trolls" at lightning speed, yet the second someone asks for a review of a penalty, suddenly you're hiding behind some miraculous time off? You pull this whole act where these supposed "consultations" regarding whether a ban should stick or not take a full eight days. It's ridiculous.

By the way, here is a perfect little example of what a well-argued appeal actually looks like—where the banned user used incredibly clear, razor-sharp logic to absolutely dismantle a moderator's attempt at "trolling." I highly recommend everyone gives it a read; there's a lot to learn here.

Exactly. When it comes to the Politics section, he's pretty much the only one tackling those specific problems right now. Even our other moderator, Dorian.Gray, isn't around nearly as much lately...
It wasn't right that you were stuck with an unnecessary three-day ban, but unfortunately, there's nothing we can do to undo that part of it. I am truly sorry about that. All we can do is clear your record, which has already been done, and offer a sincere apology for how things went down. Consider this my second apology to you. You can take what I'm saying—and my apology—however you see fit, but continuing to argue about who was available to handle your appeal won't change the fact that you were banned, nor will it change the schedules of the admins currently managing the site...

This thread?

From what I can tell, nothing has actually been done to it—no deletions, moves, merges, or title changes. It’s sitting exactly where it was before...

It's awkward, I agree with you. Unfortunately, this is just how it is for now. In cases like this, you can always send a DM to the site moderators to ask what happened to the thread...

Hi there!
Requesting a permaban in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I just need to clarify things for my colleague—we don't issue permanent bans upon request. The longest requested ban we offer is for two years. Just let me know if you'd like to set that up...

Forgive me, did someone actually ask you for an explanation? (That was a rhetorical question.)

Just some technical glitches. You aren't the only one dealing with this. Try hitting F5 and things should stabilize... unless an accumulation of points caused a ban.

I’d really appreciate it if everyone following the rules would follow the protocol outlined in our forum guidelines regarding messages and appeals. Please refrain from complaining about unmoderated content that hasn't been reported yet, or issues occurring within a 24-hour window...
