Is privilege actually a thing? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Once you've been banned on one profile, you aren't allowed to use any others. This account is getting a permanent ban, and the other one is being extended for another week...
Ban for a year, please in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Partial bans for those two PDFs can only be issued indefinitely. They aren't required to lift them just because you ask, even if you decide you want to jump back in later...
However, a requested ban for the entire forum can be set for six months. It just expires on its own once that time is up.

EDIT: There we go.

Mickey Mouse is coming for us in Feedback & Suggestions ·

According to the rules in this PDF:
Nica said:... the guidelines and rules everyone needs to follow.
• If you spot a problematic post or thread, the first step is to report it using the icon. Since the moderators aren't on the forum 24/7, you'll need to wait a bit—at least 24 hours after the report—before starting an appeal thread. Instead of opening a new thread, if there's no response to your report, you can always send a private message to the moderators.

And just one more thing—if the issue concerns moderator actions, please don't drag other users into a debate about the original discussion within an appeal thread. For instance, something like this:
How am I supposed to pay, Mickey Mouse?

It looks like this is the second time recently that a conversation from the relocation policy thread is being moved over here, but that isn't what this section is for. It’s unnecessary and leads nowhere...

1) and 2) When I say we can't gauge how satisfied we are with the moderation, I mean there isn't a single space where users can actually voice their overall opinion on how this forum is managed. If you try to start a discussion about it on any other thread, it gets pulled because it's considered off-topic. On this specific sub-forum, the only option is to comment on a particular post or a specific moderator action that felt out of line.

It seems to me my English is perfectly clear. And if I say you're free to complain about whatever you want, provided you back it up with links, then that simply means you have the freedom to complain as long as you provide evidence. Which brings us to the next point:
3) If you need actual examples, take the most popular Politics sub-forum, for instance:
In the thread about Željko Markić: Violently happy wrote, "Not to brag or anything, but I'm such an intense empath, I almost saw visions like Vicko in the midsection." Or perhaps
In the thread regarding the right-wing conservative club, where Zmay says
"this young guy represents nothing, just like he's nothing more than a colorless coward and a jealous jerk from D.C."

You make this claim that half the threads on this entire forum are allegedly offensive (and we have over 100,000 threads here), yet when I ask for proof, you only point to two posts in two different threads. I want to emphasize—out of 100,000 topics, those two posts are your only evidence for the claim that half of them are insulting. That is exactly why links are necessary. We don't have time for non-constructive whining that serves no purpose. If you think something is offensive, use the report button. If there’s no response after 24 hours, reach out to the moderators or start a thread here. But please, don't come here making false claims that half the forum is full of insults.

And I am asking you, truly, please stop reposting the same question every few days. The answer will remain the same—no, we won't allow baseless sniping at the moderation team.

I'm still waiting on some answers to my questions:
1) What exactly does "always" mean in this context?
2) Which specific topics are you referring to where people haven't had the chance to express their satisfaction with the moderation?
3) Which sections of this forum are you claiming are filled with nothing but insults toward everyone involved?

I'd appreciate some clarity here...

loneviper2 said:Isn't it strange that out of this entire forum, there isn't a single thread where we can actually say how satisfied we are with the moderation? Instead, our only option seems to be asking a question that gets shut down immediately. They always claim the topic is "insulting the mods," even though half these threads are just insults directed at everyone. Let's give the members a chance to share their thoughts on how the forum is run...

Where is this "always" happening? Which specific threads haven't allowed people to express satisfaction with the moderation? And where exactly on this forum are half the topics composed of insults toward everyone?
I've already explained via private message how appeals should be structured, pointing you toward the guidelines in this PDF, and my colleague also explained it to you publicly here. Threads need to be formatted so that you actually back up your claims. This thread still doesn't do that; it’s just a collection of personal impressions. If I close a thread like this after I've previously guided you on how to format posts and asked you to follow the rules, and you still don't comply, then what is the issue?...

loneviper2 said:The way this sub-forum is set up, you can only critique specific issues or disagreements with the mods.
But how are we supposed to comment on the overall moderation style here?
Why is that blocked? Why does every thread trying to bring this up get shut down immediately?

That’s a misunderstanding of our guidelines. We close threads when users fail to provide any actual evidence for their complaints. For example, if someone claims certain things always or never happen on a specific document but doesn't include a link to prove it, there's no way to address the issue. Without proof, it's impossible to investigate, and these threads usually just turn into venting sessions or attacks on the moderators. That isn't what these rules were designed for.

Additionally, if one person complains about one document, another about a second, and a third about a third, those naturally need to be separate threads. Keeping them all in one massive topic makes everything impossible to track.

Both of these approaches have proven to be the most effective way to manage things, and they aren't going to change anytime soon...

Jeremy James3 said:I'm not sure how many complaints like this have surfaced, but nothing ever changes. Meadow hands out warnings whenever they feel like it, ignoring the forum rules entirely. The whole religious debate has become a mess; now there are just a few militant atheists and militants on the other side, mostly because the atheists pushed them there. I realize this is a private forum and you can run it however you want as the owner, but please distinguish between private control and public influence. If you want total control over everyone's opinion, start your own private network where people don't have access...

Instead of acting like a private service while trying to shape public opinion.

Please provide links. I need to see evidence that Meadow is handing out warnings arbitrarily or that the religion discussion is ruined. Otherwise, I'll have to lock this thread because we don't handle these types of grievances here. Just go read the rules for the religion section.

Regarding your opening sentence—complaints against Meadow are extremely rare. If you started this thread because you recently received a warning from her (your first one, if I'm not mistaken), please move this to the thread specifically designated for appeals...
Are the mods actually unbiased? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Anything less than 24 hours is perfectly reasonable. We shouldn't be pestering the moderators just because someone has a question or a complaint. They aren't expected to be on call every second of the day. Let’s have some patience; you only started this thread at 4:29 PM...

Also, Michelle Evans, I’d ask that you please stop provoking the mods in other people's threads. Don't turn someone else's specific complaint into a general debate about everything you think is wrong with this forum. If you want to discuss something else, just start a new thread. It might help to look over the community guidelines once in a while...

Privacy violations and leaking DMs: Is this a crime? in Feedback & Suggestions ·

Privacy violations and leaking DMs: Is this a crime? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
A few of us reviewed these posts, and none of us see any breach of privacy here since the entries aren't linked to any specific username at all.
If you feel like someone was describing you specifically—and you believe they're doing it intentionally to provoke a reaction—please let us know. We've seen similar situations before where it isn't just a coincidence. We can delete the content or issue a warning depending on the context, and take further action if the behavior continues. However, this particular instance doesn't qualify as a privacy leak; if anything, you're the one who shared too much information, both here and in the psychology forum topic.

Regarding the accusations against the moderators: if they are submitted again in this manner—vague, imprecise, and lacking any supporting evidence—the appeal will be sanctioned. Please take a moment to review what an appeal actually requires. You can find those details in the rules within this PDF.

Happying, I’ve already said what I needed to say, so please go back and read my last post. Threatening me with legal action isn't going to change my mind...

I should also point out that you're accusing a moderator of abusing their authority here. Unlike the alleged data leak mentioned by descender, this is a very serious claim. You need to provide actual evidence or a clear explanation to back that up. Otherwise, my colleagues and I will simply have to treat your comment as trolling...
Privacy violations and leaking DMs: Is this a crime? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Based solely on this one post, I can't see how this constitutes a data leak, since nothing here connects back to anything else you've shared. In fact, aside from the post where you publicly shared your name—which was written after that controversial comment from descender—there isn't any other trace of your posts on this thread. We need to take a closer look at the specifics before making a call...

My customer left their cat with me... in Real Estate ·

Just get that animal back to the owner who sneakily dumped it—it's not exactly the responsibility of a real estate agent, is it?

I don't get it. I was specifically referring to her suggestion in the opening post about leaving a pet in a carrier outside the agency. What part is confusing?...
My customer left their cat with me... in Real Estate ·
I noticed in the intro post that you deal with allergies.

You might want to look for some specific advice over at Pet Central.
I'm not sure where you're located, but if you're in the Washington, D.C. area, you could start by reaching out to them to see what they suggest...
My customer left their cat with me... in Real Estate ·
I don't see how this relates to real estate or any legal matters. 🤔 An agency isn't responsible for taking in someone's abandoned pets unless they explicitly signed a contract stating they would handle pet care. When an agent says "we'll take care of it," it usually means absolutely nothing and carries no legal obligation. Handing them a cat doesn't change that reality.

Take a look at the "Pets" PDF and the accompanying document regarding the adoption of stray dogs and cats. You'll find forum members suggesting specific organizations to contact for help with rehoming, depending on which city you're in. If you're in Washington, D.C., there's the ACLU that works with abandoned cats. Otherwise, you just have to be proactive and persistent with your listings.

It’s good that you didn't just toss him out onto the street, but keeping him on a balcony isn't much better. I really hope there's some kind of shelter on that balcony where he can hide from this cold weather until you find him a permanent home...
