Kimberly Patel56 said:Hey!! Can someone please look at these results? I'm low-key panicking and my doctor won't give me the rundown over the phone. I got a TORCH panel done after two recurrent miscarriages, here’s what it shows: CMV IgG positive 3.6 IU/ml HSV IgM positive HSV1 IgG positive RUBELLA IgG positive 31IU/ml Everything else was negative so I didn't bother typing them out, please let me know what you think!
TORCH basically covers infectious diseases—toxoplasmosis, rubella, cytomegalovirus, and herpes.
Just hang tight until a doctor weighs in, but from what I remember when I did my own TORCH test, my OB explained that a positive IgG (mine was positive for rubella) just means I had contact with the virus sometime in the past and developed antibodies—basically, it was from getting the rubella vaccine back in school. A positive IgM would mean there's an active infection right now.
So, I guess those positive IgG results for CMV, herpes, and rubella shouldn't be a huge deal, but I'm not totally sure about that positive IgM for herpes. Hang in there, one of our on-call doctors will probably get back to you soon.
I don't even know, honestly. It’s possible they always call, but it might not even be your endometriosis, it just reminded me since those are some of the symptoms. I know it sucks, but you're probably just gonna have to hang in there until tomorrow. At least then you'll actually know if it's a simple cyst or one of those so-called "chocolate" ones.
Hopefully it's just some harmless cyst that can be cleared up with pills.
Roger Morgan2 said:So, I went in for my routine OBGYN checkup today, and she felt this large cyst near my left ovary. It hurt like hell when she touched it. Honestly, I can feel it myself whenever I’m lying down. I’ve got an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow... Since I’m already bracing myself for the absolute worst, I wanted to ask—is it possible for a cyst like that to put pressure on the colon, or could the pain actually be coming from my colon? Also, can a cyst cause localized lower back pain in just one specific spot? My periods have been totally irregular lately. I had a baby about two and a half years ago, and they had to remove some retained placenta after the birth. Lately, I've been dealing with pelvic pressure, needing to pee more often, and painful intercourse, including some stinging during sex. On top of that, for the last six months, I've been getting this brownish discharge about three days before my period starts. My blood work came back fine, and my PAP test from six months ago was normal too. Please, if anyone knows anything, I'm honestly terrified... 😢
Hmm, those symptoms—pelvic pain, painful sex—they kind of sound like endometriosis to me, though I could be wrong. Either way, you won't know much until after the ultrasound. Are you getting a pelvic ultrasound or a general abdominal one?
Amy Adams82 said:It’s day seven of my period and things are just... not right. Usually, I’m done in like three days—it changes color and tapers off, you know? But this time, the flow is absolutely insane and my stomach is killing me. It’s still bright red today and these cramps in my lower abdomen are just hitting me in waves. I guess it's just one of those months. Maybe I should keep an eye on it.
So, if I head to the OBGYN, what’s the deal? Like, will they just do a standard checkup or something else? I know they usually don't want to do exams while you're actually bleeding, but I don't know. Maybe I'm just overthinking this, but I really don't want some infection or whatever to just sit there and get way worse. 😢
Obviously, OB-GYNs don't care if you're on your period; they'll still check you out. I mean, it doesn't matter if you're bleeding. I've ended up in the ER a few times because my cramps were just insane—especially when I had that massive cyst—and every single time they did the full works, both manual exams and ultrasounds, regardless of whether I was bleeding or not.
My hands basically go into a coma during the winter if I don't baby them. If I accidentally step out into the cold without gloves, they turn bright red and crack until they actually bleed. I’m constantly slathering them in some heavy cream, usually just Nivea. Then at night before bed, I hit them with a thick ointment. That seems to do the trick. So yeah, lots and lots of lotion and definitely wearing gloves if you want to survive the winter 😁
Olivia Hayes89 said:Don't bother ordering ahead! You gotta draw those hormones on one specific day of your cycle, and since nobody can say for sure when that exact day is gonna hit, you can't really schedule it in advance.
I guess some hospitals make you book an appointment. They give you a rough window, then you just show up around day 2 or 3 of your cycle, but they mostly just care about having the slot reserved. Like at the Mayo Clinic, for example.
Lisa Carter said:thanks for the heads up. i mean, that's my point. if i've only had sex twice in my life and used a condom both times, what does being 28 have to do with anything? plus, all my tests came back fine... and sorry Sophia Wells72, but i wouldn't say the WHO affects everyone, just people who are out there acting reckless. i mean, you don't exactly catch it over coffee, right?🙄
A close friend of mine slept with one guy once—just one time—and they used a condom. It was her first time ever, too. Then he dumped her because he was only interested in that. When she went in for a Pap smear a few months later, she had CIN1. Her doctor ran some tests and it turned out she had the WHO.
A slightly low creatinine level, especially something as minor as yours, probably doesn't mean anything at all. Also, seeing epithelial cells in urine isn't really a big deal clinically.
Yeah, that label refers to the amylase value in your urine, and while it's a bit elevated, it’s nothing crazy. Are you dealing with any abdominal pain? I'm asking because sometimes high urinary amylase pops up with things like gallstones or sand in the gallbladder or bile ducts, or even just some digestive inflammation.
Did they check your serum amylase too? It seems kind of weird that the doctor only ordered the urine test instead of checking the blood.
Since you mentioned suspecting Gilbert syndrome, did they ever test your conjugated (direct) bilirubin (not necessarily this time, but maybe before)?
Best, 🙂
Thanks a ton for the reply. 🙂
Yeah, I know I had my direct bilirubin checked ages ago, but it was way back and I can't remember the results. I'll try to dig up the old report if I can find it. Honestly, I have no clue why the doctor wanted amylase in the first place; what I typed above is everything on the report, I just transcribed it all. As for pain, I described my symptoms here in detail, though I don't really get stomach pains. If I track down that old lab result, I'll let you know the bilirubin number.
Hey everyone, just a quick heads-up. Any post made here on the forum is open for anyone to jump in and comment on. So, there's really no need for anyone to apologize for replying to a thread—that’s literally why we’re all typing here instead of sending a bunch of private PMs. Everyone's take is welcome, especially if you actually know what you're talking about. 🙂
I feel like you're gonna have a hard time getting any real answers this way. Maybe try writing out a bit more detail? Like, who are we talking about, their ages, what kind of medical findings they've got...
I need some thoughts on my labs, which I'll paste below. I'm 31. I just did a follow-up blood draw after finishing some iron therapy. I've been anemic since my first period because my cycles are super heavy, so I basically end up on iron supplements every six months or so. Also, my bilirubin is always high—my doctor says it’s probably Gilbert (though I haven't officially had it confirmed), but it stays elevated, sometimes hitting 60. On top of that, I take Duphaston for endometriosis (which is basically progesterone). No other meds.
The reason I'm asking is that my doctor told me everything looks fine except for elevated amylase in my urine. But I can't find it anywhere on my report—how is amylase labeled?

The thread about sinuses, throat issues, and bacteria has been moved over to health.com . This subforum is for Women's Health, so we need to keep it focused on "women's" topics. Thanks.
Edit: looks like there was a bit of a mix-up 😁. Basically, this subforum is for women's health stuff—everything from periods to menopause. So, NelaZg, I've moved your posts and replies to a separate thread over in the Health section. Here's the link: Proteus mirabilis. 🙂
