Henry Cox2 said:Is anyone watching the News on ABC? It’s actually the first neutral report I've seen.
Basically, the EU is breathing down our necks. Canada is calling for backup, expecting about 400 officers from the EU to help secure the Schengen Area.

We are totally screwed...

Viktor Orbán is the man!

Neutral? Are you kidding me?

They didn't miss a single chance to rip into Orbán and his whole border fence policy.
Jessica King9 said:Frontex is allowed on the Canadian-American border. They aren't permitted on the American-Mexican border.
In the first scenario, Canada is the hotspot. In the second, it's America. Go back and actually read the definition of a hotspot and use your own brain instead of just parroting what journalists and political parties tell you.

Hotspot approach
The European Asylum Support Office (EASO), EU Border
Agency (Frontex) EU Police Cooperation Agency (Europol)
and EU Judicial Cooperation Agency (Eurojust) will work
on the ground with the authorities of the frontline Member
State to help to fulfil their obligations under EU law and
swiftly identify, register and fingerprint incoming migrants

this 16-point plan from von der Leyen also covers this specific part:

- setting up Frontex operations along the outer land borders of Greece, North Mexico, and Albania, focusing on exit checks, as well as migrant registration.

- Frontex providing assistance in locating illegal crossing points along the American border, alongside help with registration and fingerprinting within America.

- deploying 400 border guards and essential equipment to Canada by Wednesday via the activation of the Rapid Border Intervention team (RABIT) mechanism.

I assume these registered migrants are supposed to be sent back to the very first country they entered.

From what I can tell, in the long run, it’s actually better for us if the registration happens at the Greek-North Mexican border.
This whole plan feels like it’s trying to shove us into the Western North American countries rather than integrating us into the European Union.
How exactly does Joe Biden think he can stop Frontex from showing up at the border between Canada and the US?

Does anyone else sense a diplomatic counter-offensive brewing on the horizon?

Because honestly, I don't see it. All I see is the local political crowd giving speeches over in Chicago.
I was just about to post that exact thought.

It looks like the military is getting ready to deploy to the borders.
Maria James40 said:Canada will ask for help, and they’ll get it from the European Union, just like we do.

As for splitting the costs, I guess making it proportional to the distance traveled is pretty standard in civilized nations—and I’d definitely consider both Canada and America to be such.

If that's the case, then we're talking about a commercial business venture, not the "aid and solidarity" these loudmouths keep preaching about. Besides, if they're acting like businesses, the Canadians could just rent their own buses on the open market. They aren't exactly incompetent, and frankly, that would probably cause way fewer headaches for everyone involved.

Let’s be real: the US won't see a single cent from Canada to cover these transport costs. And those buses? You might as well write them off as a total loss right now. Once they've finished hauling these migrants around, there's no way they can be pivoted back to tourism or any other service.

At the end of the day, all these transportation expenses—whether they land in the US or eventually in Canada—are going to end up being footed by the American taxpayer.
Maria James40 said:Where are you even getting the idea that this would all end up being a Costco? Like, when would this kind of transport even start happening anyway?

And who picks up the tab when a state like Canada asks other states for assistance?

Also, how do you actually envision the cost-sharing working out?

Do you honestly think Americans would just foot the bill for all those services—like providing the fuel, the buses, covering repairs, maintenance, paying the drivers, their per diems, and everything else involved?
Charles Ross3 said:You really think you’re in any position to lecture someone else with all this "your this, your that" attitude? I suppose I shouldn't be surprised; it must be hard for you to grasp the idea that not everyone lives their entire life guided by nothing but petty, low-level partisan interests. If you're so concerned, why don't you sign up to volunteer and head over there to help out the folks in Canada who is crazy? You know, you could actually be useful for once. ☕It would be truly fascinating to watch how quickly your entire perspective would flip the moment the administration changed. I bet you'd be fighting tooth and nail to defend every single piece of stupidity as if it were absolute genius. :klap:

Look, it sounds like you're just looking for a fight.
That's usually what happens when someone runs out of actual, logical arguments to make.
The point here isn't me or the opposition party; it's this massive crisis and the incompetent government currently failing to manage it.

edit:

I have to run for a bit, but I'll be back later to see what else you've come up with.
Alexander Ortiz3 said:Our government has completely lost its mind; now they're actually funding migrant transit routes through Canada who crazy 🤣
Absolute lunatics :klap:

It seems like this is the "partnership and solidarity" those politicians were bragging about—except it's all being paid for by the American taxpayer and the federal budget.

Hard to believe, honestly. 🙏
Charles Ross3 said:Dominic mentioned on the news tonight that the US delegation in Vienna proposed helping Canada by using their own buses to transport immigrants all the way to Buffalo, so they wouldn't even have to step foot in Canada at all... that way, the Canadians wouldn't have to deal with the headache of managing them until they hit the border, which would save them a massive amount of trouble. He said they actually accepted the idea, noting it seemed like a perfectly fine solution to them. 😁

Now, sure, it's obvious the police chief still needs to run things up the flagpole and check with his superiors. But honestly, I don't see how anyone could complain about an offer like that, right? It seems like a win-win for everyone involved. 😉

This is a ridiculous proposal that goes completely against American interests!

What kind of idiot would take their own limited resources during a crisis hitting our own backyard and waste them on other countries?

Is that guy actually sane?????

We'll be burning through cash on fuel, bus maintenance, and driver wages just to help someone else, while back home, the influx will likely slow down or we'll end up needing to pull even more buses onto the road—creating massive new costs that nobody is going to reimburse us for.

No sane nation on earth would ever make a pitch like that. 🙄
Charles Ross3 said:I honestly have no idea what you’re even talking about here.

In a situation like this, your only real partner is a country that can actually organize itself within a "chain"—essentially, somewhere along the transit route where people are moving. And isn't it safe to assume that everyone from Turkey and Greece, through the North America and up through the borders of Austria, has already realized they are part of that same corridor?

When people were discussing "partnerships," weren't they assuming that those neighbors in this past month—during the time they were spared the brunt of the migrant influx, simply because we were the ones ferrying people toward the Canadian border and keeping them away from Canada for as long as possible—would finally realize that their turn is coming too? Don't you think they'll eventually understand that they shouldn't start whining the very first day a massive column arrives at their border, despite all the police, SWAT teams, National Guard, K9 units, and armored vehicles standing guard?

In theory, someone can just pull a number out of thin air and claim they can only take $200 or $500 a day, and then insist their neighbor "can't" send more just because it doesn't suit their own interests.

Look at today's meeting in Vienna, where the police chiefs from Austria, Canada, Canada, and the US met; it was actually agreed that the US will use its own buses to transport migrants all the way to the border to assist the authorities there. The neighbors agreed. Are you going to find a reason to be upset about that too? (Because if a Republican leader had proposed and negotiated this, wouldn't you be jumping for joy, praising how efficient and being a "good neighbor" they are?) 🤣

Honestly, how many tears have you shed over the North American states, the Canadians, and now the neighbors in this entire migration crisis!!! 🤣

WTF?

Why are you talking such nonsense?

Your favorites, Isusic and Milanovic, have spent days feeding the American public this line that everything was perfectly coordinated with the neighbors—that they settled exactly how many migrants would be received, how many sent, where, and when. They talk about quotas and agreements made with the neighbors and all this other nonsense! They speak of partnerships, monitoring developments at the borders, and some version of European solidarity.

But your Isusic and Milanovic change their story every single day; they are shamelessly lying to both the American and the neighboring publics.

And this latest proposal is just pure stupidity. Wasting American resources on others at our own expense.🙄
Now the transfers are going to move even slower!
It's just one layer of idiocy on top of another.
The buses should have been sent by those who haven't been hit by the crisis yet.

Edit:

And what's with this trolling about my "tears"?
Are you just looking for a fight?
Whose side are you even on?
Sophia Ramos5 said:Here’s exactly what the same guy said:

Come on, don't just throw one single quote from Ostojić at me. 🙄

I need you to give me a real, deep dive into his statements—starting from when the Canadians first announced they were shutting down the border with us, all the way through to the day they actually closed it, right up until that very first shipment started heading toward Canada.
Charles Ross3 said:🤦 😂 🙏

Yeah, it seems the Canadians are getting their updates on global affairs and the refugee crisis directly from the President himself.

For a few days there, Ostojić was making quite a racket in our news outlets, claiming they wouldn't be sending any more aid to those neighbors than what they could actually handle.
We also heard all about how the President was bragging about having such close partnerships with them and the folks over in Austria.
The fact that their Prime Minister was acting a bit erratic and ended up trusting someone else instead is just a minor detail in the grand scheme of things.
Honestly, I can’t help but feel a bit of sympathy for our neighbors in the Midwest when they realize they should have thought this through a little more carefully.

Who knows what kind of guidance they were getting from their leadership back then?

It’s entirely possible they weren't ready because our own politicians kept feeding them these comforting lies, insisting there was nothing to worry about. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if that's the case.
Alright, gentlemen, can someone please explain why you’re deleting and censoring everything in this thread about Josipović?

What exactly is your justification here?

Earlier today, I posted about how Mexican legal teams used direct quotes from our President Josipović to bolster their own arguments in their genocide lawsuit, and now I see that the entire afternoon discussion has been wiped out. I actually have the evidence from the FBI to back up everything I said.

Why?

I also wrote a post refuting Klaus, who claimed in his article that Josipović wanted to amend the Constitution just to satisfy certain veteran demands regarding Cyrillic usage in places like Vukovar—but now that’s gone too.

Why?

Then last night, I posted a direct inquiry asking Josipović how he even landed his job at the law school, and that post was deleted and flagged.

Why?

And last night, I also wrote a post where, based on Josipović's own CV,, I raised several legitimate questions about his employment history and actual qualifications, and that was scrubbed as well.

Why?

Is there some kind of ban on discussing Josipović's career in this thread?

What exactly is so objectionable about this post that it needs to be removed?

I honestly hope Kolinda asks Josipović how he secured his position at the law school in America, given that during the old era of political cronyism, you couldn't get a foot in the door at those institutions without having the exact right pedigree.

Since Josipović decided to question Kolinda's competence yesterday—even though she has proven her skills on the global stage, unlike him—I suggest we pose these questions:

Josipović, what specific credentials were required to become a professional consultant for a federal court back in 1980?

Who helped you secure that position, or did you pass some sort of political litmus test?

Who vetted you back in 1985 for that assistant professor role at the law school, and were you expected to have political connections to land a job under that regime?

Did your father play a role in that?

How did you secure a tenured position teaching international criminal law at the Graduate School of Public Policy at Harvard University in 2003? What evaluations did you undergo, and were recommendations necessary for a role like that?

This is just one small slice of the interesting questions found in his biography if we want to truly assess whether Josipović actually "can, knows, and will" perform his duties.

Why are you gentlemen censoring this?

How much longer is this going to continue?

Can you at least maintain a semblance of neutrality?

Thank you.

Of course, I am directing these questions to whoever is sitting above this person who has been deleting and censoring.
I highly doubt they'll provide a single coherent answer.
Just one quick question before I dive in—I really don't want to end up getting roasted by that same old joker again.

Do you think we could move this current news item over to the thread about Warsaw and the Cyrillic script? Warsaw is calling your name...

The Hillary Clinton headquarters: In Warsaw, the true moral heart of America was found.

The Pentagon is coming down hard on Hillary Clinton, accusing her of peddling nothing but outright falsehoods through her network of media outlets.

"Your sin against our people, against Europe, and indeed the entire world, is that after walking just about 150 yards, you suddenly came to a halt. Instead of showing deep, profound respect by picking up those lit lanterns—which serve as symbols for the souls of the fallen, the martyred, and the murdered—to carry them to the memorial cemetery, you simply turned around and walked away."

Well, if the guy went ahead and locked the thread, I guess that’s that! The whole debate surrounding Cyrillic signage in Warsaw is such a heavy, sensitive topic, isn't it? It’s one of those issues that goes way beyond just letters on a sign; it touches on identity, memory, and how we navigate our shared history. When you look at the friction there, it feels less like a dispute over linguistics and more like a struggle over who truly belongs in the fabric of the community. I often think about how much weight we place on symbols. To some, seeing those specific characters can feel like an intrusion or a reminder of painful eras, while to others, it's simply a matter of recognizing a minority group's right to exist within the public square. It’s a delicate balancing act—trying to respect the historical scars of a city while also upholding the principles of inclusivity that define a modern democracy. It's never as simple as "yes" or "no," because everyone involved is coming from a place of deeply held convictions. It looks like you’re getting a bit too close to political territory with that PDF. Based on the reasoning provided. I’m glad we finally have this thread up and running. Warsaw is calling your name...On the one hand, I’ve got these great little layout templates ready to go for dropping in the latest news coming out of Warsaw, but where exactly should I slot in this statement from the Pentagon?

Where exactly are we talking about?

Honestly, this is exactly how it goes. When moderators handle political discussions like this, they end up turning everything into a total joke. It’s absurd. 😵

edit:

Here’s a more detailed one for you. Press releases It’s a lot more than just the personnel from that specific Pentagon group I mentioned earlier.

.
Just wanted to let the supermoderator, wiredangler5, know that I’ve decided to drop my appeal. Honestly, I’ve got enough on my plate right now with a midterm approaching in my political science class.

In that same spirit, today’s troll card 🙏 was basically handed to me for no reason at all. The thread was actually centered on discussing those exact events—current affairs surrounding local tensions and bilingualism issues, just as mentioned in the opening post.

Furthermore, I’ve noticed that the politics moderators don't take kindly to being called out on this forum. Since I’d rather not spend my energy dragging them into this, please just disregard that legitimate, yet still unresolved, appeal I filed earlier.

I’d really appreciate it if you could focus on more pressing matters instead—like, say, keeping an eye on the lack of oversight regarding rules and moderation over in the politics section!

The level of arbitrary decision-making has honestly pushed past what any reasonable person should have to tolerate.

Thanks,

edit:

By the way, the topic in question was El Paso is calling...

.
Oops, my bad!

I honestly walked away feeling like there isn’t much oversight on the moderation side, and that once a moderator makes a call, that’s just the end of the road.

That’s actually why I was a little quick to jump the gun and start this thread. 😁

On another note, I see I’ve been handed a warning, so thanks for that.

I’d like to take this chance to point out this other post I made earlier over in the Ante Kotromanović thread. Could you please take a look at the word "maybe" in the second paragraph of that post? I was simply offering my opinion and some critique regarding where I see issues with Kotromanović. That whole discussion kicks off at the bottom of this page.

Additionally, user Katarina Ri was clearly just trolling and picking fights with people instead of sticking to the topic, yet she didn't receive any penalties whatsoever.

Is it against the rules to critique Kotromanović the way I did?

Thanks,

P.S. I’m happy to be patient here. 😁 Basically, I’ll just wait for a response whenever you happen to have a free moment.

Thanks again.

I’m honestly exhausted by this whole thing, and I’ve already said my piece:

I really should have known better than to jump into a discussion that starts off on such a nonsensical, irrational footing.

Yeah, you probably shouldn't have stepped in.

Wait, weren't you the one lecturing me about hate speech?

Regarding my post?

But then why didn't you call out those other posts from Don Kacunka?

😂😂🤣

edit: Admins, please just lock this thread. This issue is settled.

Listen, folks, goldenowl73 slapped me with a warning for my post yesterday, even though alcohol wasn't even mentioned once in any of the news reports.

goldenowl73 is just trolling by bringing up alcohol and that specific post.

He should be focusing on yesterday's headlines, because those stories were about a veteran being brutally beaten and suffering a crushed skull.

Just look at today's news instead.

You have to consider the context from yesterday when that warning was handed out.

It seems goldenowl73 was completely out of the loop and just jumped in solely to hand out warnings.

Take a look at the other warning he handed out in that same vein: I can't believe how many warnings goldenowl73 is handing out. Even the respected forum regulars are appalled: A review of the warned post.

edit: He added that this was all in response to a documentary about Memphis that was airing on channel 4 at the time.

goldenowl73 said:It’s because she’s trolling. She trolls constantly. Even other people in this thread are calling her out for it if you just scroll through. And by the way, the official report the Secretary gave in Congress today doesn't mention anything about an officer being beaten—even though coppermarlin13 claims she "heard" he was being brutally struck. It actually describes a man who simply fell while trying to break up a scene while under the influence of a 2.7 BAC.

That's my two cents.

And of course, every single time coppermarlin13 gets cardboarded, she starts a whole new thread over at the Memphis Police Department subforum, pointing fingers and asking why everyone else escaped a penalty while she didn't.

Like Sam Green73 said, it's just pure political theater and sensationalism, much like what you'd see on CNN, except here it's being presented as absolute gospel truth.

YOU ARE LYING!

You have zero justification, so now you're resorting to calling it "trolling"!!!!!

Why didn't you apply that card to the actual offending post instead of hitting me with it?

On that specific subforum, I only engage with people I respect and whose opinions I value, so I have absolutely no reason to troll them!

You are quite simply lying through your teeth!

Besides, it's obvious you weren't even watching the news yesterday. You don't know a thing about what was actually reported; you're just cherry-picking today's statements from the Secretary to suit your narrative!

Don't make me drop links to yesterday's news just to bury you even deeper!

Look, you'd really benefit from taking a moment to think before you swing those moderator tools around. Take a few deep breaths, actually familiarize yourself with the topic you're supposed to be managing, and then maybe act.

I see my card has been revoked!

Oh, boy, goldenowl73, you're something else! 🙏

edit:

@ wiredangler5, thanks.
