Don't sweat it—the admins will show up eventually.

So, you don't see anything problematic about that post, then? 😁

Look, feel free to jump into the discussion over here http://www.reddit.com/showthread.php?t=597600&page=16, while I just sit tight and wait for the supermoderators and admins to handle it.
Alright, please take a look at how the moderator responded here (check out these threats): 😬

redmarlin3 said:I didn't even delete some of your nasty comments—which honestly deserved to be scrubbed because they personally offended me—so I’m asking you nicely to drop this thread and move over to Politics if you want to keep arguing. And if you could just leave one "🤮" there, knowing full well that nobody is going to swing the heavy moderator sword at you.

I am dead serious. 😬 It would be great if our dear redmarlin3 could actually quote those "nasty comments" she's talking about. (Though, let's be real, she's probably referring to defending the American War of Independence, national sovereignty, our veterans, and all the positive stuff that user Modesty usually writes with such grace, tolerance, and solid historical facts.
Hate speech? Seriously? Do you actually have any idea what was being discussed in those deleted posts? There wasn't a single ounce of hate expressed there—just plain old facts. It seems like certain moderators find the truth a bit too uncomfortable to stomach, so they’d rather just scrub it from existence so nobody else has to deal with it.

edit: I’m calling on the site admins or supermods to please step in here. Take a look at this thread and actually see what's happening, then maybe provide a coherent explanation for this vague, arbitrary moderation. That's exactly why I started this topic in the first place. Thanks.
I’m really curious about why every single voice that pushes back against Mexican sentiment—or anything that doesn't perfectly align with their narrative—gets suffocated over at the Women's Corner. Is it because the moderator, redmarlin3, is a Mexican herself and finds this uncomfortable? 🤷

For instance, on this specific thread regarding what people truly condemn, my post was deleted. It was completely relevant and written as a direct response to this disgusting post:

*Jezebel* said:...prompted by melodynine's post (concerning racism and nationalism), I’d look at those ladies from El Paso who recently turned their backs on a man who came forward to offer an apology on behalf of his own people. Some might say, "Oh, poor things, they have every right to act that way." I say: sure, poor things, nobody is disputing their tragedy, but why on earth did they show up there in the first place? Especially after it had been repeatedly hammered home that this guy, Tadić, wouldn't just come and make amends? Why didn't they simply ignore him entirely instead of appearing right at the moment he arrived? By doing this, they essentially slapped their own dignity in the face. What was he supposed to do, commit ritual suicide or something? Someone with enough sense to put two and two together should have the capacity to finally question their own hatred, condemnation, and defiance—feelings born from an indelible victimhood that, when shared by a group, easily transforms into a force as terrifying as the aggressors themselves, given how easily it's passed down to the next generation. This defiant poisoning of one's own children and the total lack of logic produces nothing but a fresh cycle of condemnation, which personally—I condemn. Truly, "I condemn." 😁 It’s a deeply complex issue, but the answer is self-evident: their condemnations, and those like them, are manifestations of their trauma. Yes, when condemnations, being collective, contribute to the (often uncritical) creation of a hierarchy of values (which then triggers an avalanche of hate that exists purely for its own sake, under the guise of "that's just how it is"). And many other judgments we encounter are manifestations not just of pain, but of fears, ignorance, and personal complexes. And while we're on the subject...

Other posts acting as reactions and condemnations (which is the whole point of this topic) were also wiped out. So, I have to ask: why is the moderator redmarlin3 doing this? 🤷 And why is she threatening us with bans if we mention Tadić, Mexicans, or anything remotely related to Mexican identity on a casual subforum like this (keeping in mind this is a thread specifically meant for condemnation)?

What exactly drives the moderator redmarlin3 to delete on-topic posts? And why did my specific post deserve to be scrubbed? 🤷 Was it because I was standing up for the mothers of El Paso? 😕

Nicholas King, I really enjoy your perspective. 🙂 However, I think a few of the other members here have a point: you’re still pretty new to this community. If that weren't the case, you wouldn't be spending so much of your energy crafting posts on this thread. 😉

Alright, looks like the issue is finally sorted out. 😕

It’s working now, though honestly, I couldn't tell you exactly how it happened. 😕

Also, I wanted to clarify something from my last post—I didn't mean to imply the problem wasn't technical; I just meant I don't think the fault lies on my end. I definitely phrased that a bit clumsily. 😵 But hey, at the end of the day, the main thing is that everything is back up and running. 😉

I keep getting this annoying notification whenever I try to reply to certain private messages 😕 :

image

The weird thing is, I can reply to some users just fine, but others are totally blocked off. 😕

I’ve already tried everything in the book—I reset Opera, switched over to Chrome, rebooted my computer, and cleared out all my cookies. I even hopped on my laptop to try sending messages to the same people I couldn't reach on my desktop, but it’s the exact same story. Nothing works. 😕

At this point, I’m starting to think this isn't a technical glitch or a software issue, which is why I figured I'd bring it up here. 😁 Does anyone have any idea what might be going on or how I can fix this? 😕

Thanks!

So, why don't you tell us the story of how you landed that Moderator role? 😁

And while we're at it, I'd love to hear your take on what specifically you think is inaccurate in my post. Please, walk me through your reasoning.

I'm more than happy to defend my points with some solid arguments if needed. ☕

People will tell you that you need to be tight with the current Moderators to get picked for the job.

Let me tell you, all that talk is complete nonsense.

The truth is, you could be a total clown, you could have ten thousand posts that are nothing but mindless chatter, or you could rack up warnings and bans left and right—you could still end up as a Moderator. On the flip side, someone might not have even touched the specific subforum they’re applying for in over a year, yet they somehow land the role anyway. We see plenty of examples like that on this site.

So, look, your post count doesn't actually matter. If you've got the ambition, just make sure you build some actual rapport with the existing Moderators on this board.

Best of luck. 👍

P.S. Just one thing: once you actually get the position, don't let it go to your head. Don't start acting like a know-it-all or pretending you're some kind of big shot who earned a throne. Usually, the exact type of people I described in my post are the ones who let that title give them an inflated sense of importance. 😁
Someone's trying to hack my account 😱 in Forum Help! ·
🤣🤣

Megan Diaz33, I actually went to go change my password too, but then I just kind of gave up halfway through. I was like, "Honestly, who cares? Read whatever you want and say whatever you want, even if you do get hacked." 🤣🤣

I definitely did a double-take when I saw this earlier today. Now that the initial shock has worn off, the whole thing just seems hilarious. 🤣🤣

Thanks 😉
Someone's trying to hack my account 😱 in Forum Help! ·
"Someone has tried to log into your account on Reddit with an incorrect password...."

So, I was sitting down today to do a bit of digital housekeeping and clear out my inbox on Reddit—something I haven't gotten around to in ages—and while I was scrolling through, I stumbled upon this email: "Failed login Notification on Reddit". Naturally, I opened it up, and it said the following:

Dear coppermarlin13,

Someone has tried to log into your account on Reddit with an incorrect password at
least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your
account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address:
10.12.162.144

All the best,
Reddit

Now, here’s the thing: I have absolutely no memory of trying to log into the site and failing, let alone missing my password five times in a row! 😕 Granted, I don't have this computer entirely to myself—friends occasionally borrow it to hop online and all that—but looking at that IP address, it’s pretty obvious this wasn't anyone using my PC. I’m from the South, and from what I’ve gathered, IP addresses around my area usually start with a 7... so I am genuinely baffled by this. 😕

Does anyone happen to know how someone could try to break into my account like this?

Also, can the administrators or moderators on this forum actually see what specific password a user is using?

Does the wBulletin software even grant admins and mods that kind of technical access?

I mean, I realize that a hacking attempt isn't exactly a crime in itself, but I'm curious if there's any way to figure out who was behind it (without involving the police, haha).

Thanks!

And here is a screenshot of the message along with my usual IP addresses from that day, which is why I'm so suspicious:

Sarah Edwards38 said:I honestly didn't expect you to go out of your way to pigeonhole yourself into one specific category like that. I’m not entirely sure why you felt the need to draw those lines, especially since your posts haven't really carried that kind of subtext until now. That being said, you can't exactly deny that there have been some malicious comments thrown around in this thread—even if I personally didn't label yours that way.

It’s funny how that works—my girlfriends are constantly putting me in that specific category, so I guess it’s no wonder I eventually started seeing myself that way too. 🤣

Sarah Edwards38 said:I really hope I can change your mind on this one. And if I can't? Well, don't expect me to stop trying. I’m not just targeting you, either—though you’re certainly the current focus. Honestly, though, try not to take everything I say quite so heavily. Every now and then, I like to throw a little curveball into the conversation just for fun. It’s what we call "letting off some steam," so to speak. If I actually meant what I said back then, I must have been sitting on a massive fortune. 😁 Look, that doesn't change the fact that I’m going to give it my absolute all to stay objective here.

Alright, there we go. Is that better?

Look, I really don't mind if people poke fun at stuff like that. Honestly. But there’s a bit of a catch-22 here: if I don't announce something, it looks like I'm trying to sneak a new moderator under the radar. But if I go out of my way to start a whole new thread just to say it, then I look like I'm just bragging or fishing for attention. It's one of those situations where you can't win—no matter which way you play it, someone's going to find a reason to roll their eyes.

Alright, looks like I’m the one left holding the bag to prove the exact opposite.

I’m already starting to feel the jitters. 😢

Alright, here it is—after reading that last post of yours, I have to say, I like you even more than I did before. 😉
And finally, just so you don't think I'm rooting against you—especially when it comes to the whole process of seeing sense in all this—I want to say: good luck. 😉

Sarah Edwards38 said:Well, good morning to everyone—both the well-wishers and the skeptics who have gathered here for my welcome thread.

Let's take this one step at a time.

I truly hope I can act as a bridge to help resolve conflicts. My goal is to find common ground that leaves all parties involved feeling satisfied. I want to work alongside everyone else to try and make this space genuinely useful. To be honest, the motivation to step up actually came from others who suggested I might be capable of this; before they spoke up, it hadn't even crossed my mind. I hope that answers coppermarlin13's question. If not, my apologies.

On another note, I also want to clear up the misconception that I am a co-owner of this forum. It seems coppermarlin13 made a bit of a leap there, which isn't the case. You don't necessarily need to wish me luck, but please, let's skip the bad vibes too. I hope I’m not asking for too much by simply asking for a level playing field.

Thanks, everyone. 🙂

So, smart, since when did you start dividing people into "good guys" and "bad guys"? Did you pick that up from your inner circle over brunch? And how do you view those who ask critical or even just standard questions about how you intend to run things? Are they considered "malicious" just because they aren't offering congratulations? Should we all just shower you with praise since we don't actually know what your roadmap looks like yet?

By the way, I recall you mentioning once how much the crowd surrounding POTUS gets on your nerves. At the time, I assumed you meant the users who complain, but now that I see the list of people being picked for moderator roles, it feels like a mountain of new questions is being forced on us. This new moderation team seems to be pulled straight from your tight-knit group of friends, which makes me immediately skeptical about whether things will stay fair and objective.

Personally, I think it’s just basic courtesy for a new moderator to introduce themselves to the community—basically presenting a "plan of action"—if they want people to actually welcome them or wish them well.

P.S. Regarding the ownership thing, you might have a point there. I had just assumed Bellwether was Anderson's wife. But honestly, it doesn't really matter for the context of my post. Whether she's his spouse or his right-hand woman, the whole idea just struck me as a bit ridiculous.

P.P.S. As for your welcome to this subforum, I'm staying pretty neutral. I suspect you won't change the status quo and that you'll lean toward subjectivity, but that doesn't mean you aren't an interesting person to talk to. It just means you don't fall into one of my favorite "categories." 😉

...

Honestly, the funniest part of all this is that the admin (who happens to be a co-owner of this forum, if I caught correctly from another thread) is opening a welcome thread (🤣) and essentially suggesting ("suggesting" is putting it mildly here) that we all wish her luck because she isn't even sure what her actual role is going to be on this subforum. 🤣

Give me a break with this "administrator" act. 🤣

Man, it makes it look like every single user here is just some clueless amateur. 🤣 And then, in that very same post, she starts announcing new rules. 🤣

Lisa Martinez82 said:.......Wish Smart good luck, lots of patience with you guys and the moderators 🙂

Smart, one more time from me: good luck.

@Smart_bitch, so what’s your actual game plan for this subforum?

What kind of issues are you planning to tackle here? What do you envision yourself doing within this community, and honestly, what was the spark that made you decide to step up and take on a moderator role?

Just one last little question before I head out: do you actually have a life outside of this? 😁

Well, what can I say? That's just how I am. 😢

But honestly, I find myself laughing at some of your friends too—their endless, repetitive, pathetic little rants. I read through them all on one thread, so don't go thinking I've got a vendetta just against you. 😉

Actually, thinking back, the funniest thing about you is that one comment you made ages ago—you know, about how you sit down to pee. Seriously, that's still the highlight for me. 🤣 Real man stuff right there. 👍 Super sexy. 🤣 You know, I could probably start an entire thread based on that. Something like: "What girls really think about guys who sit to pee." Like, hey ladies, thoughts? 😛 It would be pretty entertaining, and I bet I'm not the only one getting a kick out of it.
