I’m dropping maybe $25 a year on some accident life insurance, and I’ve got my home insurance covering fire and all that other random crap for about $20 a year. That part makes sense to me, honestly, because if things ever go south, at least I know they have somewhere to pull the funds from...
On top of that, I paid roughly $1333 for unemployment coverage and whatever else was bundled in there, including death benefits I think. If I remember correctly, it was supposed to cover a certain amount of my mortgage payments if I got laid off due to downsizing, plus some interest and stuff like that...
And then, once everything was finalized—boom, here comes a 25-year life insurance policy with an $47 monthly payment. Every single dollar counts right now, so it feels pretty stupid to be $47 paying every month for life insurance that lasts 25 years, it just doesn't feel right to me...
My blood pressure is through the roof right now because I’ve been chasing this mortgage for three whole months, and my loan officer spent the entire time walking me through all the extra requirements like the home mortgage itself, an annual life insurance policy for about $43, and yearly homeowners coverage for fire and stuff totaling roughly $53, but then after three months of grinding through all this paperwork, on the very last day and literally in the final hour, she drops this bomb on me that I also need to pick up a life insurance policy for twenty-five years to match the loan term at $47 a month.
It’s not even a massive amount of money, but I just really don't want to pay it since it feels totally pointless to me...
The ones who look at your struggles and see them as some kind of "red flag"... honestly, you did yourself a massive favor by weeding them out early, because those are exactly the types of people you don't want in your corner anyway...
And trust me, even when everything finally clicks—you've got the career, the cash, the nice car, the apartment, and a great partner—even that "perfect" girl can still turn your whole world upside down and bring all that stress right back into your life 🙂
Just keep grinding and doing what you can, helping people out where you can; often, folks will tip you for a job well done, and most of the time when you're lending a hand, you'll end up with a free meal and a ride home on top of the cash, so it’s really not a bad way to live...
As for those people acting all high and mighty with their luxury cars, constant nights out, and fancy vacations—believe me, 80% of them are drowning in credit card debt, just like almost every American trying to keep up appearances when they want to have it all 🙂 I know from experience, man...
so, does anyone actually know how many months I can let these bills slide before I start getting hit with an enforcement order and all those crazy court fees? i'm talking about a Verizon bill here...
I mean, I totally get it, and honestly, it’s true that about 95% of what gets asked here has already been answered, which makes repeating it feel pretty pointless...
But seriously, could someone just clarify one thing for me... if someone actually comes along with a legit, brand-new question—like maybe regarding some recent change to visa regulations or something similar—where are they even supposed to go to ask that?
To get straight to the point, over in the diaspora sub-forum, there used to be two separate threads dedicated to Canada:
Employment in Canada
Emigration and living in Canada
And after about a thousand posts, those two threads were eventually locked, and they just opened one big master thread instead.
Now, look, I totally get why they did that, except for the fact that on this new main thread, you aren't even allowed to ask a single question regarding moving to Canada—whether it’s something silly like "is it expensive there?", something about paperwork, or just asking if any procedures have changed lately...
The "solution" they went with was basically pinning links to all the old Canada-related topics and pages in the top post, and now people are just expected to figure things out on their own.
I completely sympathize with the moderators, honestly, because people get so tired of seeing the same repetitive questions over and over, like "how much does stuff cost," how to immigrate, if you need a visa, or even just basic life stuff. And there really are certain questions that specific people keep asking constantly without even bothering to read the last twenty pages of the thread, where the answer has already been given at least ten times...
But you also have to realize that there are still ongoing issues that some individuals are facing, things that haven't been brought up yet or weren't handled well before. Like, what happens if something changes this year regarding the Working holiday program rules and suddenly everyone has a ton of questions—but then you aren't allowed to ask them here.
My take is that they should probably allow a bit more breathing room for questions—just the regular, everyday kind—while still scrubbing all the nonsense about asylum or specific immigration tactics.
For example, right now I have absolutely no clue if my three-year-old can come with me on my Working holiday permit, or if they need their own separate one. The websites don't go into detail anywhere, and I'm not supposed to ask on the forum, even though there's a good chance someone has already called the Canadian Embassy and actually knows the answer...
I'm not looking for a ban or a report or anything like that, I'm just trying to politely point out an issue that more and more people are complaining about. If things stay exactly like this, well, I guess I just won't care either way...🙂
Just wanted to pick your brains on something, I'm using this Microsoft wireless mouse, one of those 2.4 GHz ones.
The thing is, it feels super clunky when I'm actually trying to get stuff done, like I have to fight it just to get the cursor to land where I actually want it to go...
But then I switch back to my old wired one and everything works perfectly fine.
Is there some kind of trick to calibrating these wireless things, or did I just end up buying a total piece of junk?

The chaos won't truly be over until things just work again without everyone having to jump through hoops manually...
I mean, think about it—what if every single registered user on Reddit had to perform some weird workaround just to access the site? That would be the end of us, the total collapse of the community... Hopefully, they get this fixed soon...
urbangardener says: I've been relentlessly scanning my computer for days now... I ran AVG, switched over to Norton yesterday, and just added MS Exchange today... but none of those scans have turned up a single thing.
I even went ahead and tried several of those online scanners that check websites, and they all flagged Reddit as totally safe...🤷 it honestly makes no sense to me why some people are still getting hit with Trojans while others aren't seeing anything at all...
I even tested it with my adblocker turned on and then again with it disabled...🤷
>
Why are you even bothering, man? It doesn't seem like there's anything wrong with our computers, it looks more like the server itself is under some kind of hacker attack...
I really don't get why you're putting in all this effort...🤷
So I just sent over my first $10 using my Diners card, and they ended up asking me for a scan of my ID and my credit card, which I went ahead and sent over... but my balance is still sitting at zero...
Does anyone know how long it usually takes before the status actually updates?
Honestly, I basically live on these forums to figure stuff out, so if I ever needed to know which public restroom in town was actually decent, I’d probably just come here and ask...
Anyway, I finally decided to try my luck a bit online and picked BetMGM...
I put down about ten bucks using my Visa, sent over copies of my ID and card just like they asked, and now I'm seeing everyone on here saying BetMGM is a total mess...
But whatever, it's only ten bucks, so it's not like it's breaking the bank... I see they take Visa, but do they accept a Visa Electron from Bank of America? I use it all the time to send money to PayPal when I'm buying things on eBay, and since the card is in dollars, I figured it might work...
Bryan Jones82 said:If you want to stay on top of things, just hit that option to subscribe to any threads you're replying to... then if you head up to the top of the forum, there’s this quick links section for subscribed threads where you can easily check if anyone has dropped a new post on those topics...
I don't want to start a whole new thread just for this...
I don't really post much, but every once in a while, kind of like today, I'll find myself jumping into a few different discussions scattered all over the forum. The problem is, later on when I want to go back and see if anyone actually replied to me or if there's anything new, I can never quite remember everywhere I've left a comment🙂🙄
So, what I end up doing is this: I head over to the member list, hunt down my own profile, and then click through to my latest posts just to see everything in one place.
My question is, is there some other way to do this? I mean, sure, I know about that little icon with the arrow pointing left next to a thread—that shows I've been active there—but is there any other shortcut or method out there?
Man, I’m in the exact same boat... I really need to find a budget-friendly inkjet, but one where the replacement colors don't end up costing a fortune too.
I've been eyeing that Dell Latitude, maybe around $83, but I haven't been able to track down how much the actual ink cartridges are gonna run me...
